inception 30 day challenge, day 31 (bonus): a letter to all the fantabulous people who ran (or even just helped out with) Inceptiversary.

Okay, this entry may be a surprise to some but it’s my own tradition to sprinkle a little bit of extra generosity right at the end of the month. SO HERE GOES.

Inceptiversary is coming to a close and (at least in my opinion) it was one of the busiest yet, with new events (ex. the comment contest and the @inceptionkitties fandom bowtie challenge, as well as the fandom auction for @anartificialaspidistra), new Inception blogs (like @inceptionficrx, @malteparle, and @inceptionpositivity, my darling monster child), and even a new prompt meme for our underappreciated pairings. Add to that our repeating events, like @inceptionbingo, the watch party bingo, the inception quiz, the 30 day challenge, the round robin, the friending meme, the @dreamin-reader discussions, the roundups, the WATCH PARTIES? Our month was filled to bursting with events that anyone could take part in, whether you were a writer, artist, reader, or just super enthusiastic about Inception (like yours truly.)

But none of this would’ve been possible without this fandom coming together and devoting so much time, energy, and passion to coming up with these great events and running them and promoting them and donating awesome prizes! At the helm, of course, was @teacuphuman09, who got us all in position with her organizational prowess. In the interest of time (and in typical cop-out fashion), I’m not going to try to name everyone else who was involved up here, but know that I appreciate you. I will, however, give a special shout-out to my partner in crime, @jambees221b, because together, we were able to do a fine job with @inceptiversary, despite it all.

(Also a quick thanks to anyone who participated in the 30 day challenge, the friending meme, or submitted to the inception positivity blog: you guys kept me busy, but I’m so, so happy that you took a chance on these events.)

So to recap: this fandom is the best fandom to ever fandom, regardless of whether you created an event or just signal boosted. We’ve got another couple days left - let’s make ‘em great.

…and we’re so excited to see you there!

Below the cut is a list of all the events that will be taking place this year! Most events run from July 1 to 31, but some are starting earlier and some are running a little longer. Make sure to read the descriptions for each event and don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions!

Inception 30 Day Challenge ( @inception30daychallenge )

The Inception 30 Day Challenge is a set of 30+ questions and prompts about Inception, its characters, and you! They’re meant to inspire some reflection and creativity about Inception, whether it be through a simple text post, art, music, recs – anything goes! And there will be prizes!

Inception Art ( @inceptionart )

A blog to celebrate all the wonderful art created by the Inception fandom! Feel free to share inception art with us, either your own or others', by reblogging (not reposting!) the artwork and tagging the inceptionart blog!

Arthur/Eames Last Drabble Writer Standing ( @aeldws )

Signups closed; all 10 slots filled.

A weekly elimination drabble challenge where all works must fit a given prompt and feature Arthur/Eames as the main pairing. This year’s AELDWS will run for seven weeks, from June 30 to August 11, with a maximum of 10 participants. Prompts are posted on the @aeldws blog Friday at 1AM EDT, and drabbles are due Tuesday at 1PM EDT. Voting will take place Tuesday night through Thursday night.

Inception Kitties ( @inceptionkitties )

30 days of inceptionkitties means 30 questions for the 30 days of Inceptiversary before we draw a random winner on the 31st! A fun question will be posed to the InceptionKitties community each day, and all our cat parents have to do is reblog the post and share their response! There’s no signups or obligation to do all 30 questions. Pick and choose at your convenience! But anyone who tackles 15 days of questions gets entered into the draw for a small prize!

Inception Positivity ( @inceptionpositivity )

Submissions open until July 28.

Inception Positivity is a place to send love and kind thoughts to Inception fandom friends anonymously and receive some love in turn. People submit kind messages via Google form and these are turned into colourful posts that are posted on the blog.

A free for all content extravaganza where artists and authors create fun-size works for the fandom. We actively encourage and welcome doodles and drabbles. On posting day, you can unveil your fanwork to your giftee and spread some love!

INCEPTIVERSARY 2020 IS COMING THIS JULY!

INCEPTI...WHAT?

Inceptiversary is our yearly celebration of Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Every year the fandom gets together to create and support fan work, discuss the film and meet like minded individuals to talk about all things Inception (and a lot of Inception-adjacent things.) The event runs on average 5-6 weeks and contains a multitude of events ranging from spreading positivity to competitive writing to collaborative fan works.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Inceptiversary starts Wednesday, July 1 and ends Sunday, August 9.

Many events have sign ups before July!

The Inception 30 Day Challenge is 30 days of prompts about Inception. Everyone is invited to participate in as many days as they want and in any way they want, whether it be a photoset, original art, gifs, written word, or any other media. Prompts posted June 24th.

+ ARTHUR EAMES LAST DRABBLE WRITER STANDING @aeldws

Elimination drabble challenge. Sign-ups are first come, first serve, and there is limited room. Challenge usually runs seven or eight weeks, with one writer eliminated each week until a winner is announced. Each week drabbles are written according to Genre, Word Count, and Prompt, and writers have a week to submit their entry. Drabbles are voted on by the public and all entries are anonymous until a winner is decided. This event will run from July 3rd to August 21st. Sign ups on June 20th and 21st. Artists are to create work for their favourite fanfics that match up with theme weeks and post said weeks.

This is an author and artist collaborative event where authors anonymously submit summaries of their stories (see guidelines) and artists can claim stories they’d like to create art for. Signups start soon! Works are due July 31st. Please check out @inceptionbigbang for more info.

+ INCEPTION BINGO @inceptionbingo

Participants sign up to receive a bingo card comprised of randomised tropes and/or kinks taken from a preset list, and will have to create work inspired by these, attempting to get a complete line for bingo. Cards range from 9-25 slots. Tropes and Kink Lists have not yet updated. Sign ups close June 30th.

This will take the place the weekend of July 18-19. Party time slots and participation information will be announced closer to the date. Participants join in on one of the multiple watch parties and try to get the fastest bingo. Cards must be requested in advance. More information to follow.

People donate fic, art, services, crafts etc. to raise money for a charity meaningful to our fandom. Please contact @corinnetags if you have something to put on offer. Sign ups by June 29th to send and receive a virtual card from another fandom member with a short list of favourite fanworks.

Every week, according to the week themes, fan fiction recommendations are posted. Wednesdays are Hump Day Fic and Fridays are Bunker Fic Friday. Hump fics are to get you through the week. Fluff, Crack, Silly fics that make you smile. Bunk fics are one that make you need to go hide in your bunk for 'special time' after reading. Usually more explicit fics and straight up smut. Please check out @inceptionficrx for past and future recs.

The Inception Friending Meme is a form that fandom members can fill out with some information about themselves and their interests. Their info is then entered into a database that everyone can check, with the hope of finding friends with common interests! Forms currently being updated. Musicians make covers of songs from the soundtrack and original works to be put in an EP. Sign ups open on 8th May and close on 29th May. People will share their contact details and how they would like to contribute to the album. There will also be listening parties for the soundtrack and actors' music, a playlist creation challenge and a small fic rec challenge.

Finally, here we are, readying ourselves for a very special 10 year anniversary of a movie that has had a huge impact on many of our lives. A lot of planning has and continues to go into this and we are always on the lookout for more hands on deck.
