Cyborg 009 vs Devilman is so funny cuz it brought us the best Akira design and also one of the worst Ryo designs

I mean, okay, maybe Ryo doesn’t exactly look bad per se, but it’s so strange to see him consistently drawn to look much more older and jaded than Akira. And since Ryo canonically likes Akira in almost every incarnation that just makes it kinda weird?

Especially since they’re supposed to be around the same age and in Nagai’s art they were intentionally given essentially the same silhouette.

Like try to guess who is who here LOL

But yeah as someone who designs characters as a hobby I just found it to be an… interesting choice? Like there’s no way that can accidentally happen, it was intentional.

Though at the same time I haven’t watched this thing so if there’s a canon explanation for this choice (like if Ryo is older than Akira in this incarnation or something) then I’ll shut my mouth haha

Currently keep getting videos of people lamenting queer actresses having boyfriends and while I understand if ppl are specifically lamenting a lack of lesbian actresses playing lesbians a generalized dislike of bi women having boyfriends is something one should self-examine. Unless there’s evidence to suggest that actress is committed to heteronormativity/doesn’t treat their attraction to women with the same weight there’s no reason to be publicly upset by her ending up with a man.

In fact, the fact that the actress is in queer media, especially multiple pieces, probably means it’s important to her.

I think it’s funnier if the answer is no. Because despite Dib talking to the Tallest non stop, the Tallest never reply. They just stare at Dib and talk to each other about the size of Dib’s head. So the Tallest are watching this small creature with a massive head excitingly make a bunch of noises at them that they don’t understand in the slightest.

Meanwhile Dib is calling the Tallest alien scum and asking for their planet’s coordinates.

while drafting my comic teachers wanted nelly's feelings for cosmo to be more explicit in one direction (either romantic or platonic) and to that i say, simply, it doesnt really matter to the story HOW they love each other, just that they DO. but SECONDLY, it's simply too predictable if an angel-coded alien randomly falls out of the sky and the protagonist immediately falls in love with him. obviously, if it were GOING to happen at all, it would be one thousand times better if the angel-coded alien fell out of the sky and then became smitten with a loser who has the nervous sweats so bad that he walks around half naked on a daily basis and has zero swag. why? um because he was the only person on the entire planet that showed him kindness. DUH!!!!!!!! nervvy nelly is a loser but he is empathetic and has the unrelenting urge to be useful and helpful. cosmo is a chronic loner who has traveled around the universe solo because of his disdain for the lack of kindness he has consistently observed in others. DUH again. even though i cut that tidbit of cosmo lore out of the final cut so how would anyone know that except for me. oopsy. WELL YOU CAN INFER IT! put on your thinking cap
