What's this? I have come once again to your dash to tell you about an exchange? Absolutely I have. And let me tell you, this one is a doozy.

Yuletide is The Big Multifandom Exchange. It is the king of exchanges. It happens every year, and the works reveal on December 25th, and de-anon on the 1st of January. Last year over 1,800 people took part in the exchange. A lot of people only do Yuletide from the roster of exchanges. It is literally so big that it's the reason we have the Ao3 matching algorithm, because the Ao3 algorithm was built to handle Yuletide, because you have to algorithm match that one, it is simply unfeasible to hand-match an exchange of this magnitude.

What makes Yuletide special is that it is an exchange for rare and tiny fandoms— specifically, fandoms with less than 1000 fics on the archive. So all these niche book fandoms that get 10 fics posted in them a year— these people sign up for Yuletide, and they get matched. And people sign up with SUCH small fandoms.

random rainworld (mostly about vanilla) thoughts under cut warning loooooong

i really like anthropomorphizing (i didn’t realize the word was that long???) the scugs,

but i also think part of the game’s charm is the feeling of being a little beast and not understanding but learning over time.

you learn how to use your movement skills, it feels like starting as a slugpup and then trial and error and trial and error and trial

you are quite literally dropped into an alien world, and have to use your instincts that “giant lizard chasing me bad” and “fruit and bat edible” and it’s really immersive.

after playing for hours and hours and hours it may not feel like you’re making progress but you’re moving through the cycle faster. you’re optimizing where you’ll go and you’re improving your movement and it’s amazing

not even mentioning the structures oh my god. the world is so so beautiful and you don’t understand it but you learn it. does that make sense even. it may not seem like much, the starting areas are quite grey mostly but your brain learns the like. see the world

you learn what to expect from each region usually pretty quick and eventually you adapt

yes a lot of rain world is wandering and dying, over and over and over

but i think that’s what makes it beautiful, i like the dp scug abilities, you also learn how to use them and what to expect and you wander and such, but the vanilla ones are very atmospheric in a way? (so is saint though saint’s world is GORGEOUS i won’t even lie)

bot to mention the superstructures. i think my thoughts would be even less articulated about those. just ooooouuughhhh. also not to mention the overwhelmingly beautiful ending area. ooughghhghghghghghghhghghg oh my godddd.

rain world is so bugs to me. you are a little buggish slug rodent creature and you don’t know what’s going on but you will learn how to survive (haha survivor) and you will explore all of the regions and it is so funnnnnnn

i havem’t played enough downpour to really have thoughts about it initial impressions are, maybe just since it takes place in the same areas you feel less lost but that’s not really the point of their campaigns. i do think they’re fun just in a distinctly different way

when i see tierlists i often see the vanilla slugs, specifically survivor and monk put low and i know why, but for me nothing has yet beat the emotions the survivor campaign invoked tbh

except for saint. oh my god saint. saint campaign oooougughghhg. AANWAWSSWAWAWAWAWA tearing up scewaming rolling around rocking back and forth gripping onto a nearby surface so tightly shaking a stuffed ankmal. AAGAGAGHAHGAHAGAHHA OUGHGHHGHG. Y/n pov-

We just landed after a long flight and I can’t wait to finally get to the hotel , we only have two chaperones for the trip and thank god they are the cool teachers.

I was talking to my best friend Thalia when our teacher said that the bus to the hotel arrived and told us all to grab our bags and get on .

We just got to the resort and we all are talking loud asf while Mrs. James is trying to get everyone’s attention.

She takes the intercom and tells us all to quite down which we do quickly.

“Okay everyone a couple ground rules before we get to room assignments. None of you are allowed to leave the resort for your safety leaving the resort walls can be very dangerous at night okay . Second we don’t give a fuck if you drink givin most of y’all are 18 and it’s legal year just be smart about it and third HAVE FUNNNNNNN! “ she said over the intercom and we all cheered

This is why we love her she’s so chill and layed back it’s very refreshing when most teachers we have had are . Cunts!

We all started to grab our stuff and get off the bus we all walked into the lobby and I couldn’t help but look around at how beautiful it was. Mrs. James walked in front of everybody to start listing off the room assignments. “ OK first room we have is Nick, Tallia, James and lily… she kept listing off rooms until there was only a couple of us left. And one of them being non other than Chris sturniolo one of your good friend nicks triplet brothers who you’ve had a major crush on for so long but never said anything about it since you and Nick are good friends and you’d never want to jeopardize  that.

“Okay next … Chris and arwen your in room 1122 it’s all the way on the east wing and might I add probably the best room you could have gotten ! “ she said excitedly.

You looked at her and smiled and looked at Chris as you both walked up to grab your keys from her. As you started walking towards the hall leading to the east side of the resort, Chris stopped you. Hey, I’m gonna go grab one of the bag carts since we’re gonna have to walk a a good amount over two the other side of the resort OK Chris says to you. Yeah sounds good. You said as he ran off to go grab the cart

You started thinking to yourself how nervous you really were to have to be spending two weeks in a room alone with Chris you didn’t know what would happen, or if you could keep yourself in check. As you were deep in thought, Chris came back with the cart.

“hey y/n you good” he asked you as he was putting your bags on the cart.

“Oh uuuh yeah sorry must have zoned out” you said trying to cover up the blush that was taking over your face.

“Well what are waiting for let’s go “ he says starting to walk down the long hall to the other side of the resort.

You jogged to catch up with him.

“Hey I’m really glad I got roomed with you y/n . I was getting a little scared that I was gonna be with someone I don’t know aw fucking all” he said looking over at you .

“Yeah same after I heard Nick , thalia, Matt , Nate , lily and James’s names I got a little nervous I was gonna be out with a weirdo “ you said laughing a little.

He laughed with you . After about 19 more minutes you reached the elevator and took it up to the 10th floor and got to your room.

You opened it since Chris had the cart and you held the door for him to bring the cart in.

“HOLY SHIT “ you yelled when you finally took a look at the room.

He threw a hand over your mouth laughing.

“Y/n oh my god we don’t want to get a noise complaint first day we’re here” he said.

“I’m sorry it’s just so … fucking beautiful “ you said and you walked over to the huge sliding glass door out to a small lap pool over looking the crystal blue ocean .

After Chris unloaded the bags and put the cart back out into the hall he walked up behind you looking out at the view.

His presence behind you making you shiver a little bit from how close he was . “god I could die happy if I saw this everyday” he said from behind you .

You turned your head a bit too look at him and smile agreeing with him.

“So what should we do first “ he said excitedly.

“Idk we could see about maybe getting some room service since I am starving” you said as yours and his stomach growled from the sound of food.

“Agreed I didn’t realize how hungry I was till you said that” he laughed a little.

You guys looked through the book of stuff to order and picked out what you wanted . Chris called since he knew you had social anxiety and speaking on the phone and ordering food were two of the things you hated most.

You went to start unpacking your stuff and your phone rang Chris picked it up and answered it.

“Hey y/n… oh shit hey Chris I didn’t expect you to answer” you heard Nick say in the other line . You laughed a little .

“Yep me and y/n got roomed together . So what’s up” Chris asked .

“Welllll me and Thalia were looking through all the books to find fun things to do tonight and they are having a beach bonfire , movie night, Oooor they have a club in the resort that looks cool asf . So I was calling to see which one y/n and now ig you think sounds more fun” Nick said .

You walked over to sit with Chris and discuss it with each other. You both agreed to start with the bonfire and then go to the club after.

Nick and Thalia agreed and then said they call the others to tell them the plan .

As you got up again there was a knock at the door and Chris went to answer it .

He wheeled in the cart of our food and thanked the person who brought it and then brought it over to the side of the bed. You finished unpacking your stuff into the big open walk in closet and went to sit down with chris.

“Oh I got you a pina colada since I know you love them” chris says.

“Ahh thank you how did you know that though “ you asked him not remembering ever telling him.

“Eh you know I’m just like that” chris says making you laugh and shove him a little with your shoulder.

As in any situation where the warlord has a strapping sexy son played by Shawn Dou, romantic vibes are vibing - Shawn Dou fancies her but woos her in spoiled and “I am doing you a favor” way and making her life less than fun when she’s not interested.
