For lack of anything better to do, Carlos attended a SimFest.

He wasn't impressed with the performance and said so to the proprietor.

She shrugged.

"You think you can do better?"

"I know I can do better," Carlos said with a laugh.

"Everyone says that," said the proprietor tiredly. "Most of them are wrong. But come back after you get some experience performing, and we'll see what you've got."

Carlos smiled. "I used to be a Hit Movie Composer. I don't lack experience, I lack opportunities."

The proprietor shook her head.

"Not the same. Did you perform your compositions?--Live? As a one-man band? Of course you didn't; it would be ridiculous.

"Performing," she added, "is a different beast altogether from composing. Performance is where you lack experience, and that's why I'm not putting you up there today."

Carlos didn't like what he was hearing.

"You're telling me to go deliver Sing-a-Grams?"

The proprietor shrugged again.

"If that's what it takes."

As the proprietor walked away, Carlos considered.

On the one hand... on the one hand, why not try it? He and Undine had enough money, enough that neither of them would ever have to work again, so the low wages he'd earn starting out wouldn't matter at all.

On the other hand, the indignity. The embarrassment--what if one of his fellow musicians saw him delivering Sing-a-Grams? His reputation--

I will need a stage name, he thought, not yet admitting to himself that he was really going to do this. A stage name, and I should probably make sure Undine is on board.

Thus was born Carlos Midnight.

Snowflake Day!

I had to do a little remodeling to get the gift pile to appear, but appear it did and everyone liked their gifts for once, even though a few of them were not great. Carlos does not really need a second guitar and Undine doesn't need a painter's easel--she has one right upstairs.

Above is Tierney pulling a Wilona; behind her, her romantic interest Elliott Shue stands to claim a gift from the pile that is just in front of Tierney.

No idea why Tierney looks so bummed. Maybe she doesn't like the makeover I've given Elliott, formerly Dany, but whew, you should've seen him before--cute kid, abominable teen. I started out trying to improve him via slider adjustment, but after ten minutes in CAS I gave that effort up as a lost cause and replaced him with some clown from the bin.

That's probably overkill for a mere high school romance, but overkill is kind of my brand.

Taslin's romantic interest, Ahmed Birch, also attended the Estrada's gift-giving party. She got to have her first kiss with him and he accepted her proposal to go steady. Other than clearing out some unfortunate ITF-based outfits and slapping a CC skin onto him, I didn't have to do anything to Ahmed. He's a natural born cutie.

The girls' romances overshadowed the holiday somewhat, but at least they have romances! So often the timing doesn't work out for my teenagers and they miss out on the dance, make no friends, and never date anyone--probably due to how often I move towns in the midst of their high school years. 😬

Random Headcanons for: NPCs

♢ Ellie Perkins knits in her spare time. She knit her own scarf, and both Piper and Nat's scarves. She also does other things like gloves and socks, and is working on a blanket.

♢ Ellie's parents were triggermen. They both died in a shootout when she was still a teen. It inspired her to move out of Goodneighbor and begin working with Nick to stop crime.

♢ Travis 'Lonely' Miles is FTM.

♢ Kent Connolly is related to Eddie Winter.

♢ Fahrenheit's real name is Lydia.

♢ Sheng and Donny Kowalski are brothers. Sheng moved to Diamond City when their dad died and unknowingly mispelt his last name on the registration forms. Donny didn't want to leave the waterfront.

♢ The Vault-tec Rep is named ‘James Robert Smith’ and goes by Jim, Jimmy, and Jim Bob.

♢ Magnolia knows she's a synth. She already had a talent and passion for singing, and didn't want to risk a memory alteration changing that, so she just got the facechange and stays low-key. It's an additional reason to why she won't date, other than being married to her work.

♢ The two Minutemen who died at Concord were named Charles and Alice. (These were Preston's friends, and the other MM in his group were named, so these guys get names too.)

♢ As the Minutemen rebuild and Blake Abernathy is able to get farmhands to help him out, Lucy joins up with the Minutemen like she had wanted, to help stop other families suffering like hers did.

♢ Jake Finch also joins up with the Minutemen officially, taking his fathers flaming sword with his blessing this time.
