Only Murders In the Building in both s1 and s2 avoided a common trope that whomever the murderer turns out to be is gonna be the biggest name among the cast (recent examples: Knives Out). So I really don't believe Loretta is going to be Ben's murderer, just like I knew Joy would be a red herring (pun 100% intended lol).

I think it's going to be Tobert, who's definitely inserting himself into the investigation (just like Jan did).

I will never get over how good of a villain Jan is from Only Murders in the Building.

Jan is what I call an attention-complex. A good mix between a narcissist and a pick-me. Jan has to be someone’s number one priority, she can’t stand herself to be second to someone else or something else. It’s why she stabbed herself, not because they were beginning to suspect her but because Charles was starting to put her second the solving Tim’s murder and the podcast. When she stabbed herself, Charles poured days of his time into taking care of her.

It’s also why she lied about being second-chair. She got beaten by someone younger and she loved the boson. For her to know that she wasn’t even close to being first chair must’ve killed her. She wasn’t the center of attention and she couldn’t stand telling people that she wasn’t the best.

It also explains why she picked Tim and Charles. Both men were lonely and their life seemed to brighten up when Jan was in it and she relished in that fact. She fed on their loneliness and made pour all do their attention on her. It’s very interesting to watch and I have to applaud to the creators for crafting such an antagonist.

I have a theory that at some point at season 4 (about episode 8, 5-6 probably too early, 7 is you know for Theo) Charles will be kidnapped by Jan, who escaped the jail, will spend a day or two with her driving a car to god-knows-where, but her purpose will be to somehow protect him from the real killer in her own psychotic way, she knows something about the killer, but not exactly his identity, she is not going to kill him and didn't manage to kill Sazz. At the same time there is nightmare in Arconia with everyone being worried about Charles and trying to find him alive. Oliver is just on the verge, at some point turning from panicking, making crazy theories, being overdramatic and whining but hilarious in it to the state we have seen him in when he came to Charles for comfort on his waiting for DNA-test results - too shuttered to be his usual "drama queen"-self and to speak as much as usual. Mabel or Will are trying to soothe him. Eventually Charles comes back home safe and sound but shaken and perplexed, Oliver is the first from the trio to see him and is just a fluffy sobbing relieved mess hugging Charles and burying his face in his neck. Then he comes back to being himself with something like "Where the hell have you been? You made Mabel worry!! Not me, of course, - well, maybe a bit..." making sure Charles knows (and of course Charles knows) with the help of a smile, gaze, touches his future words that it's just their usual teasing and Charles's being safe means a lot to him
