I have mixed feelings about Spanish because sometimes I enjoy learning a new language and other times I’m stressing out and wondering why the fuck I chose this class when my teacher tells us there will be a test the next day after five days learning the topic. The first day I wasn’t even effing there.

The best way to describe the amulet book series is to pretend you find a really cool water slide. You can’t see inside the slide because of the exterior but it looks cool enough so you go through it. The first half is fun and entertaining and you can’t wait to see what’s next, then the second half comes and it’s covered in shit. Like there’s an inch tall layer of shit in the water of the tunnel. You don’t leave because you are already in the shit waterslide and it’s too steep to climb up and leave. As you go down the shit stained slide gets smellier and dirtied and there is more shit in it and before you know it, you are neck deep in shit water. When you finally exit the slide, you are glad it’s over but you still smell like shit and no matter what you do, you can’t get that smell out.

Out of all of the songs in Sofia the First, Helping Hand from season 2 episode 17 ‘Baileywhoops’ is honestly the best in the entire show in my opinion. I don’t know why but it has engraved itself into my brain that I know every word by heart.

It’s been out over a week and half since I read the finale amulet book and I’ve been thinking nonstop about Waverider and I am still mad.
*deep inhale*
Sigh.
I consider myself to look for the best in things. I told myself that since Supernova was very, very bad, Waverider couldn’t possibly be worse?
Then page 25 happened and all of my hopes went so far that they in the burning ashes of hell. And if you don’t know what page I’m talking about, I’m taking about the part where Trellis tells Gablian that he is fucking king.
I’m sorry, the fuck?
Let me tell you a little fun fact, Escape from Lucien is my favorite amulet book in the series. Now I rated that book 5.1 on my rating list, and that’s quite low for me. So why was that my favorite book? Because of the scene where Max tells Trellis he was the true king, Trellis saving his people from their ship exploding, and the scene where Riva realizes the trees were talking about Trellis.
Those scene were my everything, I thought about that book for three weeks straight, no other thought registered in my head, zero, zip, nada. Nothing but those scenes. Was I biased because I loved Trellis and thought that the elf king plot-line in a series that went off the rails so quickly? Yes. However, that book solidified the excitement younger me had to see Trellis take back the throne and save his people and become a proper ruler. The set-up had me excited and the description the Amazon summary didn’t help calm down the flames of my passion at all.
Then I fucking read Waverider.
First of all, Gablian would not be a good king. I’m sorry but the assassin guy? The guy that stole people’s memories? The guy that chooses violence and aggression over anything else? Really? Thats the best candidate for being the new king? Really? The guy’s moral compass is a fucking roulette wheel! He made one reference to being king in the second book and it was made to be a treating, villainous way!
Why?! Just why, and with Trellis right there?! Are you kidding me?! Trellis being king has been set up for such a long time. Like the idea of Trellis not becoming king right away because he isn’t ready is an interesting concept on paper. However, the execution doesn’t flipping work. Gabilan would be a terrible leader, he’d a tyrant! He’s shown no interest in being a leader while Trellis’s ENTIRE thing was being king and saving his people. It’s like Kazu Kibuishi was handed a six course, 3 Michelin star meal and decided to flip the meal onto the ground and eat the musty crusty, rotting rat corpse instead.
You know what? I could be overreacting. I honestly could. But all I know is that if I don’t go to sleep now I am going to set Waverider on fire.

I have finally finished Waverider and as I promised I’m , as the same as the other amulet book ratings, I am going to rate this one. And as always, this has spoilers so if you haven’t read it and want to read it, skip it. Also this just my opinion
Book 9:
And my rating is a 3/10. Same as the 8th book for many, many reasons.
This book isn’t as bad as Supernova, but it has as many problems as Supernova.
First off, Trellis, Riva, and Vigo’s storyline was a lie. They literally clear up the false king storyline so fast it gave me whiplash. Literally in the back of the book it says the main focus for the B storyline is going to the elf kingdom and that storyline just ends so fucking quickly. Also how the hell is Gablian alive?! He is not a stonekeepers and blew up at the bottom of the ocean! How did he survive?! Also, you’re telling me Trellis gave up being king that easily?!What?! One of the only things I liked about book 6 is the scene where Trellis tells his people that the false king, Max, was dead just like the elf king was and if they want to save their country and stay alive is to follow him, as the true and rightful king. Then fucking Waverider comes and I am just speechless.
And then they go to rebuild Ceileis(I can’t spell) and tell me if this is only me but, I don’t care for these new characters. Wes, Reieina, Lira, etc. I don’t. I miss the simplicity of Amulet and how none of the characters felt underutilized. Then Kazu Kibuishi decided to shove them in the closet and bring in characters I dont care for. Navin, Alyson, Leon, and Karen were there for only a small percent of the book and even that felt flat.
Also something that pisses me off is how Vigo died. The entire purpose of that little squad was they could break free and not lose control to the shadows. And yet, he loses control to the damn voice? Not to mention, that ceremony didn’t need to happen! They were just paying respects and he loses control so fucking easy! This was just an excuse to kill off Vigo and I hate it!!
Also fucking old Emily came back. I don’t know how but she was here and I’m so confused.
Do you wanna know what I’m confused about?! Everything with Ikol. Like I am so confused, is he dead or is he still there? What was that confrontation between him and Emily?! Like what was happening? It was just so much without any explain for what happened?!
Also when did Emily get so damn strong? Nothing to her seems like a struggle. She takes down those giant stone—thingys(forgot what they are called) So easily. This might just be me but characters who don’t use to have as much power before and suddenly becomes op as hell.
Overall, this book has so many problems. Maybe I’ll find more later or maybe I’ll burn the book in a dumpster. Verdict: this was not worth waiting years for it come out.

I have ordered the final amulet book and it will arrive on Saturday. I’m both excited and terrified since the people I know who have read Waverider aren’t exactly happy with the end results. Still I am going to go in this book with an open mind.

I completely agree with you! And I think it’s because Sir Pentious’s death wasn’t treated as a tragic event when he died. Adam just bopped him out of existence. While the characters reaction is tragic it’s not really tragic the show didn’t treat it as if it was tragic. It was treated more like a gag joke.
Meanwhile, Adam’s death wasn’t treated that way. Sure, his cause of death was by Nifty of all people, but when he actually does die it’s actually emotional. Not because we care about these characters but because for Lute, who cared for Adam, it was tragic. The show treated this death more seriously than Sir Pentious’s death. They don’t pop any final jokes or have him act whiny when he dies. He died smiling and Lute even cried as he does. It treated as an actual death instead of a joke like Sir Pentious’s and honestly I think that was a mistake. Vivzipop hyped up the fact that one of the main six was gonna die and turned it into a joke. Which isn’t fair at all.
Maybe it's because I was spoiled on the fact that Sir Pentious ultimately ended up in Heaven, or maybe it's just because I can't deny he was never among my favorite characters, but I feel like I maybe should've been more impacted by Pentious's death than I actually was?
Though, honestly, the only death that really got a real reaction from me was Adam's, and that was less because of his death and more because of Lute's reaction.

So I just recently watched the season finale of Hazbin Hotel and I plan to contribute to the fandom by offering an analysis/theory to
Tumblr media
This scene and what this could mean for the show. Spoilers of course.
So this scene in a nutshell, is Alastair having a fucking mental crisis.
I think it’s apparent that Alastair is scared of dying. Alastair shows off his ability a lot. Not in the way other overlords do. It’s subtle but he still does it. It’s little things- letting a small part of his demon form out, glitching the camera, interrupting a video show to make people think they can’t kill him. The complete opposite of Lucifer who doesn’t bother to look intimidating or try and use his royal power all the time, he knows he doesn’t need to show off to make people afraid of him because he knows he will win and won’t die.
This adds a wave of arrogance to Alastair. For up to this point Alastair had only ever fought lower demons, none of them being an upperlord or higher. The high he got from this might’ve made him think he was immortal.
Which Adam quickly proved wrong.
Tumblr media
This is the only time in the show we have ever seen Alastair get hurt. This is where Alastair is reminded that he is an upperlord and can’t even defeat a goeita demon like Stolas. He nearly died fighting one angel and if he stayed with the hotel there is a good chance he’ll have to fight angels much stronger then Adam and he won’t be so lucky to run away like this time
So why does he stay?
I personally think it’s Lilith.
Tumblr media
Personally screw you Lilith for letting your daughter and husband fight to the death while you are here on vacation in heaven.
I believe that Lilith is the one that Alastair made a deal with. I doubt it’s another overlord since I think that would’ve come up during the meeting and I don’t think it’s the seven deadly sins or goeitas because I think that is helluva’s boss’s thing and should stay that way to not mess up the story line. It’s not Lucifer or Charlie since Charlie and Lucifer didn’t know about Alastair before the beginning of Hazbin Hotel. The only logical conclusion is Lilith.
I think Alastair lost a bet or made a deal with Lilith. Alastair was sent by Lilith to watch over Charlie and protect her. This would explain his beef with Lucifer since he hates that he is one someone else’s leash and can’t get revenge on Lilith and can’t hurt Charlie so does it to Lucifer.
Alastair must’ve thought that would be an easy job and would have no problems until he nearly died by Adam. Now he wants out of the deal . Because he doesn’t want to die.
Tumblr media
I’d also to like to talk about this shot and line. I definitely think that Alistair cares, even if it is a small bit, about Charlie and everyone at the hotel. Based both on his and Nifty’s conversation and the usage of the word friends also he let the others hug him, which is interesting since he doesn’t seem like the type of person to allow others to touch him unless you want one less limb. Also it’s important to consider the only other person who he hugged was Mimsy who he opened admit to being friends with.
Tumblr media
But back to the point, Alastair doesn’t look at all happy of the idea of dying for these people or just dying at all. He does care for them however he values himself much more. I think this will lead to the betrayal(that Viziepop talked about) and he will commit to find a way out of the contract.
From what that will happen to there I have no idea. My theory may not be right but all I can say is I cannot wait to see what else Viziepop has in store with this show and I hopes you liked this little analysis/theory.

Nice good, I think you did a great job redesigning her!
And so the Amulet brainrot continues! Here's a re-design of Emily for the later books.
Tumblr media
You'll notice that I completely omitted the vest and hooded cloak. I always felt like the cloak would be kind of hard to move around and fight in, so I decided to ditch it. (I was low-key worried about ruining her silhouette, until I realized that her silhouette with the cloak didn't look anything special). And I took away the vest because I feel like that's a standard outfit choice a lot of the characters go with as the series progresses, and as a main character, I feel like Emily should stand out a bit more.
I decided to put her hair up and make her outfit a bit more travel-ready by giving her pockets and a bag in which to store things, as well as boots that I think would be easier to get around in. She sort of looks like she's getting ready to go hiking, but I think that fits the adventure vibe she has going.
What character do you think I should re-design next?

While Amulet has it faults in its writing, I do enjoy the art. Especially the monster/creature artwork I remembered when I read the 5th book and being absolutely amazed on how pretty Lucien was when they reach the city. I also loved how creepy the creatures that attacked Emily and Max in the fourth book when they are under the academy. They remind me of the creatures from sewers in the fourth Hunger Games movie. I’m not a big fan of how Kazu Kibuishi draws humans and expressions but that’s a detail that I can be able to ignore to enjoy the rest of the art.

The biggest thing that pisses me off about book 8 of Amulet, Super Nova, is the confrontation between Ikol and Emily is anticlimactic as fuck.
She took off his mask and he died?! That’s it? Are you kidding? My elementary school self didn’t even like that which is saying a lot because most of the time when I was a kid, I couldn’t tell the difference between lazy writing and good writing; all I cared about was cool visuals.
There wasn’t even a fight scene, unless you count when Emily electrocuted some of the palace guards, which wasn’t even a fight scene since she DID NOT have to struggle at all. She pulled off his damn mask and he disintegrates like a vampire in the sunlight. And I have said this once and I’ll say it again, if it was that easy to defeat the elf king/Ikol, WAS HE EVEN A DAMN THREAT? Answer: F NO!
What also frustrates me is that it wasn’t a big deal. Again, the entire point of the revolution was to take down the elf king and when they learn that he is dead, they don’t give two flying monkeys’ asses about it. And it’s frustrating because they had so much build up from it, even from the very first book, which did not give a lot of information of the world around them, mentioned and talked about how treating the Elf King was. And you’re going to tell me, that the big threat now is some stupid shadows?!
Verdict? Super Nova made terrible choices that created bad writing from a storytelling perspective and makes me want to scream.

Looking back on Amulet, they either have the most generic outfits I have ever seen or cool in idea but makes zero sense in functionality aspect. Especially the humans. The only thing I can tell you about Emily’s outfit is that she has a cape and brown gloves. And that’s it. Clothes can tell a lot about a person. Even if it’s a uniform people find a way to express themselves through clothing and how they appear.
With amulet and with most of the characters I feel nothing and nor can I tell anything about their personality based off their clothes. And nor do I care to remember what they look like because it’s all the same and I hate it.
The only characters that I could think of that’s clothing sticks out for me is Trellis’s armor, Vigo’s trenchcoat and hat, and Riva’s bright ass jacket. And even then I have complains.
Now I am no artist myself however, I can think it s safe to say that a lot of artist hated Trellis’s art old armor and cried tears of joy when it was destroyed in the fifth book. Sadly though, while his complicated and not practical, yet still interesting outfit was replaced by another generic looking outfit. I’m at least glad Kazu kept the blue theme with Trellis. That was nice.
With Riva’s I have mixed feelings with the yellow rain jacket. I don’t know why. I don’t hate it I mean it definitely gives her a distinct look but at the same time the color just throws me off. I liked the purple on her in the eighth book however the outfit definitely looked half assed and just thrown together without properly trying to make it look decent.
With Vigo, I feel like his outfit would’ve worked better if that was what he was wearing when we first meet him with Miskit and Cogsly. His outfit gives off mysterious vibes. We can’t see his face fully and he looks very close off and reserved. It would pull the readers towards Vigo without making overdone or wack.
Verdict? The Amulet characters need a wardrobe change, stat.
