With how often I talk about queer media, representation, positive aspects of problematic media, etc., one of these days I'm going to have to talk about MPGIS.

We've been re-watching it out of nostalgia, and while it definitely doesn't hold up in some areas, it's still fun--and the queer characters, weirdly, hold up pretty damn well? Not perfectly, but better than some other stuff from the same era.

In an era where every bisexual character on TV was "not into labels," and with all my deep anger as a young bi person at the time, there was just something so goddamn satisfying about Jenna Darabond's casual declaration that she was bisexual--and that she wasn't the only queer character, or even bi character, in the show.

I vaguely remember watching it with @borinquenaqueer and having to pause it because it launched both of us into, like, a ten minute tirade about, "take note, TV writers! Take fucking note! The cursing barbies did it better than you! You fuckers!"

Groundbreaking milestone? Eh, maybe, maybe not, but damned if it wasn't important to me personally at the time.
