this is specific so feel free to not do this but maybe some hcs of the 141 + Alejandro with a s/o who has vitiligo? I love your writing sm but dont feel pressured to do this one <3
task force 141 + s/o with vitiligo
Tumblr media
Characters: Simon "Ghost" Riley, John "Soap" MacTavish, Kyle "Gaz" Garrick, John Price, Alejandro Vargas, Rodolfo "Rudy" Parra
Warnings: none
A/N: tbh if it weren't for this ask i would have probably never realized i was pronouncing vitiligo wrong so thanks tumblr user spookirain
Tumblr media
simon "ghost" riley:
okay so honestly i doubt that ghost would be fazed or even really care about the fact that you have vitiligo
i mean it might have caught his eye the first time he saw you but it wasn't in a bad way or anything
he just thought it was interesting and made you stand out
so tbh you having vitiligo really doesn't affect your relationship at all really
i mean skin color really plays no part in ghost's preferences, because he's really just never been a looks kinda guy
he really doesn't make any comments on it unless you do
and so, in the best way possible bc ik this sounds kinda bad, he doesn't really hype you up or spend a lot of time complimenting you about it out of the blue
i mean again it's really like not a big deal to him so he just doesn't see the point
it's like complimenting someone on their height or their skin color
it's not like they had a choice or can change it so he doesn't feel the need to compliment them about it
that being said if you are feeling insecure about it he'll reassure you and make sure you understand that he loves you no matter what you look like
also if you wear makeup he'll definitely help you apply it, especially if it's in a tricky spot
john "soap" mactavish:
alright so no offense to soap but he doesn't exactly have the same tact or class as ghost
when he saw you, the first thing he notices was your skin and that it looked really cool and interesting
immediately went over to you to let you know too
he thinks it's super interesting that you have vitiligo and it's one of his favorite parts about you
he likes to admire your skin/body and try and find cool shapes or patterns in your skin
he'd also definitely try to draw a face on your patches if he finds one that has a good head shape so watch out
if you're insecure about it i can totally see him being quick to reassure you with a harmless joke or something like that
especially if you joke about it a lot yourself and he knows your boundaries about it
soap is also kinda impatient so if you're out in public and someone's repeatedly questioning/harassing you about it he's very quick to tell them off
sorry but he has better things to do than sit around while some stranger interrogates his s/o
kyle "gaz" garrick:
okay so like soap kyle is definitely more vocal about your vitiligo and how much he likes it
it was probably one of the first things he noticed about you, and that plus your personality had him falling pretty fast
one of his favorite things to do is to trace along your patches with his fingers
whether it's when he's holding your hands at a restaurant or when you're laying on his chest at home in bed
it's one of those mindless activities he can do when he's bored or restless in order to get him to relax
if you're insecure about it he's always quick to give you a tight hug or squeeze your hands and reassure you that it's not a bad thing
that being said he gets that sometimes it can be hard looking a different way and so if you need to rant to him than he's more than happy to listen
as long as you know that in the end he absolutely adores you and your vitiligo
john price:
okay so like ghost price doesn't really place a lot of emphasis on your vitiligo
don't get him wrong he definitely loves it and thinks it's beautiful
but even if you didn't have it he would still love you the same (although he's glad you do have it because it makes you unique)
that being said he tries not to make a big deal out of it because he doesn't want to seem weird or anything like that
so he'll usually compliment it very subtly and maybe not as often
something like "your skin looks great today, love" or "is that a new patch? it looks good on you"
one of his favorite things to do is try and spot where new patches/macules show up before you do
and he's honestly pretty good at it
let's be real he knows your body really well and so he's good at noticing new things
alejandro vargas:
alright so if anyone's a supporter of your vitiligo it's gonna be alejandro
he just loves the way it makes you look one of a kind
ofc he always tells you that there's no one else like you
and he's definitely a romantic so expect a lot of verbal praise and stuff from him
"i'll never find anyone like you"
"you look like you made for me"
"you're the only person i'll love as much as you"
stuff like that
even though he's already pretty liberal with his compliments, get ready for them to increase a lot more if you ever show that you're insecure about your skin
he definitely has a great way with words and knows exactly how to make you feel better
rodolfo "rudy" parra:
okay so like pretty much everyone else rudy really loves your vitiligo
it was definitely the first thing that caught his eye and made him want to approach you, and once he finally mustered the courage to do so he was very fast to compliment your vitiligo
like alejandro he's very vocal about his love for you and your skin
although he doesn't exactly have the same way with words that alejandro does
but he's still able to get his message across just fine
his message being that you're beautiful, you're perfect, etc.
like gaz (i think) he really likes tracing along your patches when he's falling asleep or just whenever he's bored
he also asks you to tell him whenever a new one pops up so he can trace that one too
his goal is to trace every single one
if you're ever insecure about it he'll be quick to reassure you (probably while tracing your patches because it helps him think straighter)

Could I request the 141 taskforce x reader with skin problems like eczema or psoriasis. If not maybe a x reader thats self conscious about their vitiligo
Little Butterfly
A/N: Hi Bestie! Thank you for this! Both my mother and I have psoriasis (mine's more limited to my scalp). But I'll include vitiligo as well. I'll do my best! Side note, I started writing something, but I overcomplicated it, so here is this. I'm sorry if it sucks lol
Master List (tag list at the bottom)
Task Force 141 (Price, Simon, Johnny, Kyle) x GN! Reader with Psoriasis & Vitiligo
Warnings: skin conditions; self-conscious; a sprinkle of angst; a sprinkle of fluff; and a whole lotta love; PLATONIC; SFW)
General Description of Appearance: Vitiligo patches on their temples, kinda looks like little (butterfly) wings, the rest is mostly on their back. Plaque Psoriasis is spread throughout their body (covers about 10% of their body, localized on their scalp, chest, and hands).
Captain John Price
The only one who knows the extent of psoriasis and vitiligo, because he's El Capitán.
Nicknamed you "Butterfly"
You hated that.
Stopped calling you that when you made a face.
He's the first to know when you have a flare up so you can spend the day resting, taking a saltwater bath, etc.
Has heard the words, but doesn't know squat shit about psoriasis or vitiligo, but it scares the shit out of him when you're out in the sun.
Always makes sure you got sunscreen, makes sure he has a bottle of SPF 75 on him and makes sure the rest of the team has the same.
Took way too long putting sunscreen on your back because he was looking at your vitiligo.
"Captain are you done yet??"
"o-Oh yeah, I'm done, sorry."
Helps you put ointment on your scalp
Got scared as hell when he saw you shed dead skin.
Gets on to you for picking on your skin, but is very much intrigued by it.
Keeps the rest of the team at bay in case they ask about your whereabouts or get onto you with nicknames or even ask you about your psoriasis.
Reads more about it. Probably knows more about it more than you do at this point, like Johnny.
Lt. Simon "Ghost" Riley
Like Captain Price, doesn't know squat shit about vitiligo or psoriasis
No. He genuinely doesn't know what either of those words mean until you asked him if y'all could stop by one of the nurse's stations to pick up some meds and overheard you talking to the nurse about your psoriasis.
He watched as you showed the nurse your hands and the back of your ears, seeing little red patches on them. He made a mental note of it, but didn't ask, despite his curiosity.
Noticed that you'd not show up to certain (de)briefings, or trainings. Didn't think of it at first, then asked Price about it, who just said not to worry about it.
Keeps calling you "Birdy" - also stopped when you made a face. Gives death glares that shoot lasers when someone else nicknames you anything remotely related to a bird, insect, or other winged creature.
Got really worried when he caught you in the gym alone and he saw the rest of your vitiligo and more of your psoriasis.
"Y/N, are you ok? Go to the doctor now."
"W-What, why?"
He pointed at your skin, "Doctor. Now."
"Are you serious? It's my psoriasis, Simon..."
"Your w-what?"
"Psoriasis." His eyes widened when you showed him up close. Then turned around and showed him your back, "Vitiligo. The medicine I picked up the other day is for my psoriasis."
Still confused. You briefly explained what they were and a lightbulb went off in his head.
Again still confused, but was more alert of how you behaved regarding the two, especially your psoriasis.
Shoved his bottle of sunscreen in your face that he got from Price when he knows y'all are going to spend a lot of time outside.
Barely lets you go outside when y'all are in Las Almas without getting on to you.
Sgt. Johnny "Soap" MacTavish
Knows exactly what psoriasis is, has a cousin that has it, so he's very familiar with it. But doesn't ask any questions.
Gives you weird ass advice about how to deal with it because he doesn't think the medicines you take for your psoriasis will actually help.
Like Price, freaks out when you shed dead skin
Unlike Price and Simon, does not call you a nickname and is ready to fight if someone looks at you sideways
Guard Dog
Will put sunscreen on you without you asking
Laughs at you when you get mad at him
"Yer skin is your biggest organ, Lad/Lassie, need to protect it."
If and when he accompanies you to pick up your ointments, he'll argue with the nurse or doctor to make sure you get the right one or that it's too strong, to it's not wrong enough.
Like he's ready to fight the doctor about it.
When y'all are bored, you let him color in the little vitiligo patches on your back - think "Elmer the Patchwork Elephant" by David McKee
Sgt. Kyle "Gaz" Garrick
Also has no clue what either skin condition is, but is respectful and says nothing.
Caught you having a flare up and dragged you to the nurse, then felt bad when both you and the nurse scolded him,
Literally has no clue what to do - thus making you feel even more stressed out, which freaks him out even more
both of you are stressin
freaking out
Price has to come in and calm both of y'all down
Price put Kyle in a time out while he makes sure you're ok
Gets a booklet from Price to learn about psoriasis.
Apologizes, and asks a lot of questions and makes sure you're ok, especially when you have flare ups.
Still gets freaked out.
Does not want to help you with your ointment, but will watch when Johnny or Price helps you
Asks way too many questions
Thinks your vitiligo is cute - accidentally called you his little giraffe and Simon and Johnny nearly shot lasers out they eyes while Price covered your ears.
Kyle knows not to call you any nicknames. Doesn't even think it.
Like the others, will shot lasers out his eyes if anyone even thinks about calling you a nickname.
Literally thinks you're made of glass and sometimes forget you're a whole ass soldier.
Anyways.
Everybody:
Eventually
Against your will, but you just sigh and accept it
Your nickname will be "Butterfly"
Price will call you his/the team's "Little Butterfly" - we all know you're his Little Butterfly
Johnny and Kyle will call you "Fly" to mess with you
Simon will smack the back of their heads.
You are "Butterfly"

About your ocs: 💍 🩹 💯 🐉. This time I'll give Kendis a break because i know they are popualr XD So I want to know more about Val and Lala!
💍 RING — does your oc have any piercings? do they want any (more) piercings?
Val: Ear lobes only. They'd consider a brow ring. Maybe nostril.
Lala: No, I don't think so. Maybe tongue. Tattoos are their needle activity of choice. So, while they wouldn't be against considering it, there's no desire for it (watch i change my mind in a week, bc i forgot i said this)
🩹 ADHESIVE BANDAGE — does your oc have any physical and/or mental disabilities?
Val: Physical, they wear glasses -- I can't remember which sight type I said they had. But things are blurry without, so. Mental: hRM. I cannot say I've given specific thought to it. I wouldn't be surprised if Val had an anxiety disorder -- I'll have to research. Probably mild depression. 90% sure the detective has CPTSD. So. Like, yeah.
Lala: I don't think so. Nothing physical. As far as mental -- I have like the vague thought that Lala has a mental disability / mental health issue and has learned to successfully manage it. But I'm not sure what it is yet. But Lala is where I want to be, lmao.
💯 HUNDRED POINTS SYMBOL — share three random facts about your oc that others may not know.
I'm taking this as an ooc/out of verse way and rather than people in their universe/ic might not know.
Val:
Val's hair has never been past mid-neck since they hit their teens.
I think Adam might be their first love. I'm always on the fence on how much relationship experience Val has had.
It isn't always obvious in pics, so I guess I'll add: They have vitiligo!
Lala:
Lala is very good at math. In another life they probably would've been a stats or economy teacher.
Lala has numerous tattoos, but small ones. Like the tiny ones you'd get on a finger or on your ankle, neck, etc.
They dyed their hair a rich, bright blue once. Straightened it too. But it was such a hassle to maintain.
🐉 DRAGON — what is your oc's favorite mythical creature?
Val: Bruce Willis in Die Hard? Jackie Chan? John Wick? Um, I don't know. There is the weirdest of thought that mythical creatures could be supernatural creatures -- and that's a disturubing though. Val would probably think a pegasus is cool.
Lala: I don't think Lala is a myths person. Like cool stories, but I don't feel they seek out said stories at all, though they're aware of them. Probably even less so than Val. But since they love cats, maybe Chimera.
Thanks for the ask! Sorry bout the lateness hun <3

On identity
I don't think people understand what identity is and that there are identities that are inborn and unchangable, meanwhile others are formed through life and changeable.
Identity means what are you. Two objects can be ident but not the same, when they have the exact physical properties of one another, but exist as two objects in time and space. Like perfect copies. Categories like species are an identity, but don't exist as sole identity in an individual, because an individual is always part of multiple categories. For example a domestic cat is part of the category "felis catus" and can be identified us such, it's genetically different to wild cat species. The cats identity is cat. Fur color makes a black cat different compared to a brown cat, the cats have different identities in color and can be distinguished by it, both are still in the category "felis catus". Ones identity is black and cat, the others identities are brown and cat.
Biological categories as identities are inborn and unchangable. Those are species; sex (in mammals); sexual orientation; color of skin, hair and eyes (to some degree); genetic variations and disabilities (to some degree too).
Changable categories come as social and physical identities.
Physical identities are things like height. We grow as we get older, we are a little bit taller in the morning and a bit shorter in the evening and at some point we get smaller with old age. Disabilities like trisomy 21 are unchangable, but others like having only one leg can be inborn or come from f.e. an accident (but can not be reversed, because we can not regrow limbs like an axolotl). Two individuals are similar in identity in having only one leg, but are different in identity in being born with only one or having lost one through out their life. Hair color is inborn as being brown, but changes as infants can be born blond or black and their actual haircolor comes as they grow up. As we age our hair turns partly or as a whole white/grey. Skin color can be changed on purpouse with sun exposure, bleaching creams or melatonan injections. It can change involuntary, because of chronic disorders like vitiligo, but our base color is inborn.
Social categories as identities are being part of a group. This would be nationality, ideology, social roles, religion, race, subculture, economic class, etc. These categories are dependent on society, time and place. National borders, what is considered politically right or left and how we view race has shifted in the past. People can be raised one religion and convert to another. Wealth can be acquired or lost. There still is a difference between someone who always belonged to one category and someone who became part of said category. They have in some ways the same and in other ways different identities.
It's important to know that race is not a biological category. There is not enough genetic difference between someone from east asia and north africa to be considered belonging to different races. Phenotype (appearance based on genetics and enviromental influence) is a biological, physical category and has regional differences, racism/discrimination based on phenotype and often cultural heritage is a real issue. Olli London or Rachel Dolezal can not change their inborn phenotype or the cultural heritage they were raised with, so they can not change what we call race. What they do is artificially alter their appearance with the intend to make it more similar to the phenotype they wish they had. Similar to people who dye their hair, but Olli and Rachel do it in an extreme and problematic.
Identities add up and create what I call I-identity. F.e. a male human of 25 years, 182cm height, 80kg, with brown hair and eyes, born and raised in London, listens to the name John Smith, who believe in the christian god, votes for the labour party, eats omnivore, with one pierced ear and listens to Taylor Swift (this is a randomly invented person, I do not know a person like this). These are all identities, some are biological and unchangable, some are physical or social and changable. They as a whole add up to the identity of this person and make him distinguishable from other people who have partially the same or similar identities. Some people may not know his identity as a whole or ascribe him identities he is not, he himself may not like or be aware of some aspects of his identity or wishes to have identities he is not, maybe even lie about one or more identities. Considering the time, place and culture he lives, his identity and all identities that it's made of are an objective reality, no matter what he or anyone else in the past, now or in the future say.
With objective reality I mean the one and only truth, it does not matter if we as humans or any single human is capable in observing this truth. We are not able to think 100% objectivly nor are we able to sense or know everything that exists, but our inability to see reality in a holistic and objective way, does not make it any less real. (Examples: ultra violett light, the earth spins around the sun)

👁 What is your OC’s eye color? Do they have any eye-related habits, like winking or rubbing their eyes? Do other people tend to notice their eyes? - for Jesse, Aspen and John
👤 What is your OC’s skin like? Is it unblemished, or are they prone to breakouts? Do they have any scars, tattoos, or other skin markings? Does their skin tend to be sensitive to things that get on it (lotions, cleaning products, etc.)? - this is for all of your OCs
💇 What is your OC’s hairstyle? How do they maintain their hair? Do they wash it and/or cut it regularly? Have they ever dyed their hair? - for Tina
👖 What type of clothing does your OC generally wear? Why? Do they have any “signature” accessories? - I know that I have asked about Robin numerous times, now it's time for John
👀 What is the first physical feature people notice when they see your OC? Why? - for all of them
🪞 How does your OC perceive themself? Do they believe themself to be attractive, unattractive, or average? Does their view of themself affect their self-esteem, or are they unbothered by their physical appearance? (If your OC does have things they’re confident or insecure about, what are they?) - for John and Will
Buckle up folks this is a long one so answers are below the cut!
👁 What is your OC’s eye color? Do they have any eye-related habits, like winking or rubbing their eyes? Do other people tend to notice their eyes? - for Jesse, Aspen and John Jesse has vivid blue eyes, which change color with his moods like all fae. His follow a pattern similar to ocean coloring, and the normal bright blue is when he is alert, a darker blue means he's calm and at ease, and a green-tinged grey means he's upset. He tends to look down when he encounters someone. He might meet their eyes for a moment, but then he'll drop his gaze and move past in a deferential kind of action. It's instinctive, one of the few things that hasn't changed since he was kidnapped. While he rarely shows any other traits that mark him as a submissive member of the pack, dropping eye contact is something he's never been able to fully change.  Aspen has blue-grey eyes, and after he's changed by the Mist and gets his powers, his eyes turn green when he's actively using those powers. While people may not pay much attention to his eyes normally, they definitely notice when they change colors. John has dark brown eyes, that sometimes look a little bit gold if the light hits them right. His Abuela Rosa says that the golden shade is he result of his having Second Sight, the ability to see through fae glamour and occasionally, glimpses of the future. He has a small scar in the eyebrow on the left, which he tends to rub subconsciously when he's thinking. 👤 What is your OC’s skin like? Is it unblemished, or are they prone to breakouts? Do they have any scars, tattoos, or other skin markings? Does their skin tend to be sensitive to things that get on it (lotions, cleaning products, etc.)? - this is for all of your OCs John - John has copper-colored skin like his mother's, and he tends to get dark-colored scars after injuries. The most noticeable ones are a set of deep lines across the side of his neck, the aftermath of vampire claws. Robin - Robin has pale skin that scars fairly easily. He gets freckles if he spends much time in the sun, across his face and his arms. His skin is sensitive to a lot of human-made dyes and chemicals in soaps and other things, so he tends to avoid anything that isn't made with all natural ingredients. Kira - Kira has tawny brown skin that has a tendency to be dry. She has a tattoo of a sunflower on the back of her neck, and one of her nervous habits is rubbing her tattoo. Maira - Maira has pale skin, with several scars from her childhood surgeries for scoliosis and a heart defect. She also has a brownish-purple birthmark on the inside of her left arm. Cody - Cody has dark brown skin that was prone to breakouts when he was a teenager, and still has some small acne scars along his hairline and his upper lip, as well as a permanent impression of his glasses on the bridge of his nose. Emma - Emma has pale skin with a bluish undertone because of her vampirism. She tends to cover the blueness of her lips with a vivid red lipstick, but aside from that she uses very little makeup. Her only scar is the bite mark on her neck from her turning. Arion - Arion has pale white skin with the same blue undertone as Emma. He has no scars aside from the one that formed when he became a vampire, which resembles an electrical shock wound. Brooke - Brooke has dark brown skin, and because she has vitiligo, her skin has pale patches that are especially light on her face and hands. The condition made her an outcast in her village and at one point, when it was only just starting, she tried to conceal it. Aspen - Aspen has pale skin, with a tan and freckles in the summer from working in his garden. He's allergic to down, and he can't sleep on a pillow made with feathers without breaking out in an itchy rash. Will - Will has tan skin, with much of it on his left side covered in old burn scars. The scars often ache, and are more easily irritated, especially by damp clothing chafing them, than the rest of his skin. Amy - Amy has pale skin that often develops a small scattering of acne spots across her shoulders and on her back, as well as sometimes across her cheeks. She has a visible vampire bite mark on her neck, although the scar appears healed, it is tender to the touch and easily irritated.
Jesse - Jesse has light tan skin, which will develop a darker bronze shade if he spends a lot of time in the sun, like he did when he worked on the family fishing boat. He has light freckles on his nose and cheeks, and four black tattooed marks beside and below his left eye.  Tina - Tina has brown skin that generally has some level of garden dirt embedded into her knees and elbows. She has the five tattoos by her left eye that denote adulthood, as well as a mark on her left arm that identifies her as a healer, and the beginnings of the tattoos that will tell her life story on her upper left arm, her collarbones, and her neck. 💇 What is your OC’s hairstyle? How do they maintain their hair? Do they wash it and/or cut it regularly? Have they ever dyed their hair? - for Tina Like her tattoos, Tina's hair tells a story of who she is and what she's done. The patterns cut into the shaved half of it, and the particular arrangement, placement, and color of thread used in the braids that are done on the other side, indicate at a glance her role as a healer, her proficiency in her craft, and her family of origin. These are all traditions of her father Eden's Dominican fae family, and she wears them proudly just like the tattoos from her mother's wolf side. Eden is the one who shaves the designs into her hair and redoes the braids when they come loose, and she does the same for him. 👖 What type of clothing does your OC generally wear? Why? Do they have any “signature” accessories? - I know that I have asked about Robin numerous times, now it's time for John John tends to wear clothing that is utilitarian and functional. Dark t-shirts and jeans make it easy to hide blood, and he tends to wear heavy tactical-style boots that lace up. His jacket is well-loved, and has been repaired several times. It has both the insignia of the Amarillo agency and Chimera on it. His most ubiquitous accessories are his silver-laced bullwhip and the Bowie knife that he inherited from his ancestor, the real man behind the fictional Quincey Morris. 👀 What is the first physical feature people notice when they see your OC? Why? - for all of them John - The scars on his neck.  Robin - His eyes, because they change color with his moods Kira - Her curly hair, or if she's signing, her hands. Maira - Her height. She's shorter than most other people, and she also has one shoulder that's slightly higher than the other due to her spinal curve. Cody - His glasses Emma - The fact that she looks too perfect to be real. There's something unsettling about looking at a vampire.  Arion - His fangs. Often because that's the only thing his victims have TIME to notice. Brooke - Her vitiligo. Aspen - The fact that he watches people closely, to try and read their lips Will - His burn scars and his limp. Amy - Her hair. She has short, raven-black hair that's constantly swishing around her chin when she walks. Jesse - the tattoos by his eye. They stand out vividly from his pale skin and catch attention. Tina - Her hairstyle. The combination of the shaved side and the braids tends to be the thing to draw people's attention, despite her many tattoos. 🪞 How does your OC perceive themself? Do they believe themself to be attractive, unattractive, or average? Does their view of themself affect their self-esteem, or are they unbothered by their physical appearance? (If your OC does have things they’re confident or insecure about, what are they?) - for John and Will John sees himself first and foremost as someone who gets the job done. As long as he's physically capable of doing his job, he doesn't particularly care what his body looks like. He's not exactly self-conscious about the massive scars on his neck, but he doesn't like to look at them often because he doesn't like the memories that go with them. John considers himself attractive enough in an average way, and he's
been known to flirt with his marks to try and get information from them.
Will tends to see his scars as a reminder of his past. They bother him most for the fact that they are still painful, years later, and also that if he happens to notice them they bring back bad memories. He used to consider himself pretty attractive, but now he's more concerned with wanting to blend in than stand out, and the fact that his scars make that almost impossible does frustrate him.

hey look who’s back with more foreteller headcanons (Spoiler, it’s me)
They're all half-convinced that Gula can teleport.
Like, they /know/ that he can't
but he still manages to show up in places he really shouldn't be able to get to at the randomest times
He was in the rafters one time when Invi glanced in the library at three am
He was on a mission on another world one day and Luxu tried to sneak one of Gula's secret stash of chocolates, only to find him there waiting
Master has found him sitting in his chair in his office. What're you doing here Gula.  The door was locked, Gula.  I am about to have a secret meeting with Ira.  How did you know.  Why is the window open.  We're twelve floors up, Gula.
So Invi's like the only foreteller besides Luxu who doesn't show the bottom of her face, yeah? so i'm throwing this out there that she's got vitiligo, maybe not a severe case, but definitely on her neck a bit and maybe arms (yes, yes, I know that's not shown when she does take the scarf down but just give me this square enix, let me ignore the fact that all the foretellers have the same white skin)  and she's pretty sensitive about it so even before she was Anguis' master and before the masks and everything she usually had a scarf on.  Ira probably always tried to get her to take it off and encouraged her to not be shy about it but gah that's just from me wanting to ship them
Okay so consider with me: Family board game night
we'll go with monopoly because why not
Gula was the treasurer once but no one is making that mistake again so it gets given to Invi or to ava on occasion
Aced gets way too into the game.  like, waaay too invested. like, he won't let it go, like, calm down, Aced, you're not stuck in jail forever--no you don't understand i have to get to go, invi, i need that 200
Ira tries to pretend he's not into it but he so is.  he so is.  he's got everybody's scores memorized and he's determined not to lose more often than luxu
Invi's won the most times, closely followed by Gula.  Aced is pretty close after them tho, and Ava wins fairly often but she's got this problem where she doesn't like to be mean and she'll forgive loans to not put people out of the game coughLuxucough but she does win sometimes (and no, none of them let her win that's preposterous, they never do that psh).  Luxu has really bad luck whenever he plays, but he pulls off a nice deception every once in a while and wins if Invi's distracted.  Ira can win, but he just... isn't good with commitment? like? won't buy the property because he wants to save his money 'cuz Gula's got his corner up ahead and if i get between a three and a five i'll land there i can't risk it.
Master usually doesn't play but when he does he dominates. Every single time. Don't ask him to play Clue because then you never, never win.  he's probably just as good at chess.
okay so you know who's paranoid? ira.  anyone laughing in the vicinity--boom, ira's there, were you talking about me?  He shows up in Master's study randomly: ‘Master did you see, the front door's open, we've been infiltrated someone's broken in.’ No, that was just Luxu, he left the door open on his way to the bakery.  Someone gets sick? No we've been cursed who have you offended recently (is that a trick question, gula asks, coughing).  Invi finds Ira almost in tears one day cuz his mask broke-no invi you don't get it it's a sign this means i'm not fit to be Unicornis' Master, invi stop sighing this is serious
Aced's got, like, no filter, which surprises no one
but neither does Master, which is worse, because Master is always accurate in his observations.  like, you know that John Mulaney stand-up bit where he's talking about twelve-year-olds or whatever, how they always make fun of the one thing you're really insecure about? yeah, that's Master
Oh, Ava, you really shouldn't have trusted that shady-looking kid (no, really? ava asks, after being stabbed by said shady kid)
Invi, you know Aced thinks you're a tattle tale (but I did see Luxu--Invi says anyway, her voice faltering)
Ira, you haven't been practicing your fighting, have you? that was sloppy (yes, Master, Ira says, mentally writing his resignation letter)
Man, Luxu, you sure have this weird habit of shrinking in your chair every time i ask you to do something (no i don't, Luxu says, under the table)
Invi: "This is a bad idea." Ira: "If you ever stop saying that, I'll know it's time to start worrying."
There's a rule in the castle that no one is allowed to cast Fire in the third-floor corridor but no one knows why (Luxu reddens suspiciously whenever it's brought up)
There's another rule that everybody knows the reason for because they were all there that one time Aced accidentally smashed his Glider through three flights of stairs and so they moved Glider practice to outside

RE: Anons (finally!!) 1-8
In this post:
#2: How to handle surgery-related diets
#4: our fave recovery blogs
#5: dealing with bullying about vitiligo
#8: Recovering through the transition to college + how to challenge romanticizing ED thoughts
[CW behavior mention]
1. hi, sorry to bother you but I'm nervous I might have an eating disorder? I've been hospitalized for malnutrition in the past, but I just wasn't eating enough. the behaviors now are like binge purge restrict so on so on. I've been eating about [x] calories a day now because I want to lose weight without binging/ purging. should i tell someone about this, or is this normal?
FAQ #3 but yes definitely tell someone who can help!
2. I have to have a endoscopy/colonoscopy in a few weeks, and the prep for it has me completely on edge. In order to have the procedure done, I have to eat a restricted diet for a week, not eat for [x amount of time], and then take a super powerful laxative. My doctor also recommended I go on a weight loss diet, even though I'm still at a healthy BMI. After being recovered for several years, I've been struggling with a relapse, and I'm afraid that this will push me over the edge. Any tips on how to deal?
Sorry this is so late! Here’s advice for anyone else in your situation.
First, tell your doctor! Ask which elements of this are most important, and which can be worked around. Your ED is a complicating condition, so they should really know about it -- they’re treating YOU, not just your colon.
Second, give your laxatives to someone you trust, preferably someone who lives with you. If you can, enlist their support with mealtimes as well. If you get really sad at the end of the meal bc you can feel yourself falling back into that old place, that’s okay. Have them remind you that this is temporary, and that food is not as black-and-white as your ED wants it to be. Cede responsibility for figuring out your intake to this trusted person. Also -- make sure no one lets you know your weight at any point! Perhaps they can tell you when you’re back at your normal weight but that’s it!! The less you can obsessively track, the better.
Third, get into therapy NOW. Once this diet is over and everything gets quiet is when the ED stuff really starts to hit. I find that usually my recovery phase is ½ as long as my restrictive phase if I’m in therapy, and 2x as long if I’m not.
Fourth, acknowledge that this is unusually difficult and that struggling with a difficult thing doesn’t negate all the work you’ve been doing for years. You’ve built a solid foundation that has a good chance of keeping you stable through this rough time, and even if that starts to crack you have those same foundation-building skills to get it back to good.
I hope things went well for you <3
3. your blog always makes me feel valid and safe. thank you.
You’re so welcome! I’m glad it helps <3
4. Hey!! Do you know of any other positive recovery blogs? Im too scared to look in the tags bc they're full of pro ana things :( I love your blog, thank you!!! ❤❤
Fyoured was my fave, idk if they’re still active though! There’s also scienceofeds but that’s mostly summarizing current medical literature on it. Edreocoverystarfish and clinicallydepressedpug are also great! You can also check out our reblog tag
5. I've been suffering from vitiligo practically my whole life and it's something that affects me both psychically and emotionally. My brother often makes fun of me because of it, his favourite name for me is ''Michael Jackson"
That’s so shitty of him. If it helps, siblings tend to be rather shitty as they’re growing up, because it usually takes like 15-20 years to learn the basic emotional skills it takes to really be there for someone you love. Some people (especially masculine-identified people because of the social penalties associated) take longer to learn or never do at all. That’s not your fault.
For what it’s worth, siblings tend to make fun of whatever your biggest insecurities are, because humans learn how to affect others’ emotions before they learn how to affect them positively. Mine was acne for a while, especially since I struggle with dermatillomania (skin-picking) -- my siblings would wait for a Papa John’s commercial of a pepperoni pizza, point to it, and say “hey look, it’s Selena! HA HA HA!!”. My sister was really insecure about her hair being parted exactly down the middle, so my other sister and I would make fun of her for that. What I mean to say is, it’s not about the vitiligo. It’s about your brother not having learned yet how to NOT be a rude little shit.
Also, there’s no absolute that different colored patches of skin are ugly or bad. Calico cats are so cute! Freckles are adorable! Winnie Harlow is so talented! Find reminders in your life and/or online that different isn’t bad, and that this difference can be jaw-droppingly gorgeous or heart-breakingly adorable or lovably cute. It’s all about how you wear it.
And finally, know that love is always a choice -- including self-love. Rather, it is a combination of tons of small choices. Am I treating myself with love? Do I talk to myself lovingly, the way I would talk to a friend who was in my situation? Do I appreciate what my skin does for me, pigment or no pigment? Am I cultivating a life full of things and people that validate that love? It’s hard at first, it always is, but once you start it becomes a really awesome habit. Here is a great place to start (adjust pronouns as appropriate).
Sending you lots of love <3
[CW poop mention]
6. Hi, this incredibly embarrassing, but I recently experienced some personal trauma and so I am having problems with eating... Mostly restrictive and the inability to swallow some foods. However, I am having some digestive problems, mostly issues with skid marks. I was wondering if this is common and if there is a remedy for it... This is the first time I have experienced something like this. Sorry.
First, I really honestly don’t think anyone goes through their life without ever getting skid marks lol so you’re not a freak at all. I get them from time to time and I don’t really have digestive problems. Usually it just means I need to eat more fiber or adjust the balance of my diet. Also, this might sound weird, but anal kegels might help! The anal ring is all muscles, after all, and if restricting is a problem then all muscles have probably atrophied a little bit, including those. And finally, it might just be bad toilet paper. There’s lots of kinds that are practically useless and turn into a pulpy mess instead of doing their damn job. If you’re at home, consider getting stronger toilet paper (2-ply etc) or carrying baby wipes in a purse or backpack. Black underwear can also help with the insecurity aspect.
7. I love your blog so much! It helps knowing what other people are going through while making it a little humorous. Stay awesome!!
:D will do!
[CW romanticizing relapse, negative body image] 8. I have been battling with my ed for [x amount of time] now. In [y]th grade I got so tiny, I felt so pretty. I had never been skinny until then. I gained a lot of weight from being on so many medications, and now I am at an average weight but I am so unhappy with my body. I still struggle with purging and skipping meals. I start college this fall and I am terrified that I am going to let ana control me since no one will notice. I just want to feel beautiful and I know I wont until I'm tiny…
Something I’ve been going through recently is trying to lovingly remind myself when these thoughts pop up: I’m not believing this stuff because it’s true, I believe it because I’m literally crazy. It’s somewhat counterintuitive, but those beliefs can really take ahold of you if you take them seriously. But it’s just a symptom of the mental illness you know you already have. It’s like if you were prone to visual or audial hallucinations -- they feel real. They look real. They sound real. Of course you’d believe there are lions chasing you right now, because all of the senses you usually trust are indicating that that’s true. But also, if you can use the knowledge you have to try to see past them, you can actually interact much better with your environment.
Facts: you feel unhappy with your body. You still struggle with disordered behaviors. You start college this fall. College represents a big challenge to your ability to keep ana under control.
Beliefs: I can’t feel good unless I am thin. I can’t help but do what my ED says. I must keep this all a secret. I can’t get any help.
In the past 5 years, there have been times you’ve felt happy. Even when you weren’t thin. State memory means it’s hard to think of times you’ve felt differently, but it’s just a fact about human brains that we can’t feel one feeling for very long without switching it up.
Also, I guarantee you that you weren’t happy then. It’s so easy to romanticize thinness -- we see thinness romanticized literally ad nauseam -- but it’s such an empty feeling to be stuck in your ED. It’s so hopeless. It feels so crappy to walk into a restaurant with your friends, to see them all laughing and having fun when all you can think about is how terrifying it is to order food and how much you want to run away. When I really think about how awful each moment is with an ED, how I’m constantly either freaking out about eating or dreading the next time I’ll have to eat, how I had to numb myself constantly because reality felt so bleak.... Thin just isn’t worth it.
And let’s be clear: thin isn’t pretty. It’s just thin. Thin people CAN be pretty, but so can people of size, and so can very muscular people, and so can people whose body shape is more average. And eating disorders will make you thin at the expense of everything your body needs to maintain itself. It’s like insisting that houses are only thin if they have columns out front, so you hack off the front door, peel off the siding, pry up all the furniture, and stack up this pile of garbage to make some columns. You’re better off with a column-less but functioning house than one full of holes and empty inside.
Before you get to college, look up the mental health resources. Sign up for counseling through your school ASAP!!! Counseling tends to fill up as midterms approach, so this way you’ll be covered in case things go downhill later. Also, TELL people you trust. This you must do even if everything in you screams not to, because everything in you will scream not to, because your ED brain is actually trying to kill you. The more trusted people you tell, the less you have to fight it on your own, and the more resources you have to fight it. ALSO, see if there is an ED support group or a body positivity group on campus. Being around people who can gently call out disordered thoughts is a huge relief! And finally, explore other things that make you feel beautiful. Some people like makeup, and seeing how much of appearance is just illusion. Some feel beautiful when they know that they are strong and agile. Experiment with your clothing. Cut or dye your hair. Now is the time to test out different styles, and those are so much more fun to work on than calorie counting.
Lastly, you have more to do than be tiny. Mice are tiny. 5 cent candies are tiny. Pinky toe nails are tiny. What can you do that’s new? That helps you learn? That’s helpful? That’s exciting? Ana ignores all of that because of an obsession with BEING one thing. But ana doesn’t know shit about all the weird, cool, funny, wild stuff you can do. Show her what she’s missing.
Best of luck to you, and if you find yourself struggling in college don’t be afraid to message us back. We’re here for you throughout your recovery process <3

News Rankings 9 Reasons Your Skin Is Changing Color Anna Medaris Miller • April 14, 2016, at 11:43 a.m. Stella Pavlides was admiring her new ruby ring under the black lights of a New York City bar when she noticed something else glowing: "I had white spots on my knuckles," remembers Pavlides, a 70-year-old in Clearwater, Florida, who was 22 at the time. But when she stepped outside, the spots were gone. "I didn't think much of anything," she says. Within a few years, however, the bleached-looking patches became more prominent against her Greek skin, and spread to the tops of her hands, her elbows, back, knees, armpits and genitals, and around her eyes and mouth. Dermatologists told her it was vitiligo, an autoimmune disease that causes the skin to lose the melanin that colors it – sometimes in small patches, other times across most of the body. While the condition – which affects about 1 percent of the world's population and can be more noticeable in people with darker skin – is relatively physically harmless, it can be emotionally devastating and socially isolating. Stella Pavlides founded the American Vitiligo Research Foundation because she wanted to support vitiligo research that didn’t use animals in testing. Stella Pavlides founded the American Vitiligo Research Foundation because she wanted to support vitiligo research that didn’t use animals in testing. (Courtesy of Stella Pavlides) No big deal, it's only vitiligo, it won't kill you,'" Pavlides recalls doctors telling her. But to people with the condition, it is a big deal. "I got inhibited," says Pavlides, an otherwise confident, straight-shooting native New Yorker who remembers turning down trips to the beach with her friends, wearing long sleeves that she'd pull down to cover her knuckles no matter how high the temperature and feeling degraded when people dropped – rather than placed – change in her hands. Since founding the American Vitiligo Research Foundation more than 20 years ago, she's heard from countless kids who've been bullied or beaten up due to the condition, and even from a parent whose son with vitiligo committed suicide. "It's a very, very difficult disease," says Pavlides, who runs the foundation full time. [See: 10 Lessons From Empowered Patients.] While there's no cure for vitiligo, which typically first appears between ages 10 and 30, there are treatments – ranging from makeup and steroids to light therapies and skin grafts – that can help stop the disease progression, restore color or at least mask the lack of it. "Do we have an optimal treatment? The answer is no," says Dr. Pearl Grimes, director of the Vitiligo and Pigmentation Institute of Southern California who also prescribes vitamin D and antioxidants to patients with vitiligo to support their immune function. "But there is hope." For Pavlides, who says she's "tried everything" with not enough success to make the side effects or expense of treatment worth it (insurance companies don't always cover therapies because they deem them cosmetic or experimental), she feels the best medicine is support. "Don't give up," she tells parents of kids with the condition. "Tell your kids they're beautiful. Tell them everybody's different." Still, it's important to seek care for any skin pigmentation changes, dermatologists say, since some can signal more serious problems and many influence quality of life. Here are some reasons your skin might be losing, gaining or otherwise changing color – and what to do about it: 1. You Have Vitiligo If Pavlides' symptoms sound like yours – or if you have a loss of pigmentation elsewhere, such as in the hair on your body or head or inside your mouth – find a dermatologist who specializes in treating vitiligo, Grimes suggests, since many physicians wrongly believe there are no treatments and don't understand the condition's psychological impact. Vitiligo also shouldn't be ignored, experts add, since the condition – which Michael Jackson had but treated by removing the pigment from the rest of his skin rather than trying to restore color to the vititigo patches – often coincides with other autoimmune problems like thyroid disorders and can make people's skin more vulnerable to sun damage. 2. You're Pregnant While vitiligo causes a loss of pigmentation in the skin, melasma – sometimes called "the mask of pregnancy" – seems to cause some skin cells to produce more pigment, which usually appears as brown or gray-brown patches on the face, according to the American Academy of Dermatology "It's just so prominent and concerning to people," says Dr. Bruce Robinson, a dermatologist in New York City and spokesman for the American Academy of Dermatology, noting that the vast majority (some 90 percent) of patients with the condition are women, since it seems to have a hormonal component. "Pregnancy makes it worse, birth control makes it worse and sunlight makes it worse," he says. While having the baby, stopping the birth control or protecting yourself from the sun can clear up the condition, it often recurs, experts say. "For a lot of people, it's a constant battle," says Dr. Marie Jhin, a dermatologist in San Francisco. But, with expert supervision, chemical peels, bleaching creams and laser therapies can help mask flare-ups. 3. You Mixed Limes and Sunshine When patients come to Jhin panicked about mysterious dark marks on their hands or around their mouth, she asks, "Did you just go on vacation?" If the answer is yes, everyone breathes a sigh of relief. Chances are, the diagnosis is phytophotodermatitis, a skin reaction to sunlight and a chemical in limes and other citrus fruits such as lemon and oranges. While the first reaction – blisters or burning – is often dismissed as sunburn or allergies, if noticed at all, the lingering pigment changes usually fade in a few months. It's common in the spring and summer months, Robinson says, since people make mixed drinks with lime, get some juice on their skin and then go out in the sun. That's why the condition is often nicknamed "Club Med Dermatitis" and "Mexican Beer Dermatitis." 4. You Have a Form of Eczema Another condition that tends to bring patients – typically children – to dermatologists during warm-weather months is pityriasis alba, which first causes red, scaly patches before leaving lighter patches on the skin, according to the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. "It gets moms really nervous that their kid has vitiligo," Robinson has found. But in fact, the condition seems to be a feature of eczema that's simply more apparent on tanned skin, Jhin says. Treatment is usually simple sunscreen or, if more severe, a topical steroid, she says. As Robinson puts it: "You stop the eczema and the pigmentation comes back." [See: 9 Surprising Facts About Sunscreen.] 5. It's a Remnant of Past Skin Damage The technical term is "post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation." To the layperson, it simply means darker skin in places you once had acne, allergic reactions, an injury or any other type of skin inflammation, perhaps from another condition like psoriasis. Here, too, the first-line defense is treating the underlying inflammation. 6. It's Fungus Before you say "ew," keep in mind this possibility is pretty much harmless – and sometimes not even noticeable. Tinea versicolor, a common fungal infection when the natural yeast on our skin overgrows, tends to pop up in the hot, humid summer months – or among people who've visited those climates. "Most of the time it's brown or red or white and it's … in the areas where people sweat," Jhin explains. The solution? An anti-fungal treatment. 7. You Have Addison's Disease If you thought John F. Kennedy was just a tan guy, you are mistaken: He had Addison's disease, which is actually an adrenal – not skin – problem in which the adrenal glands don't produce enough of some hormones, Jhin says. "Someone who says, 'I'm a lot darker but I didn't get any sun,'" might have the condition, Jhin says, and should visit his or her primary care doctor, who might prescribe oral medicaitons to help replace the lacking hormones. 8. You Have Acanthosis Nigricans Here's another mouthful of a name; this one describing the darkening and thickening of skin folds, such as those in your neck or under your breasts. "It could just be because you're a little overweight," Jhin says, noting, however, that it could also be a sign of diabetes. If blood and other tests come up normal, though, the common condition can be treated with creams or other products that help soften the skin, she says. 9. You Have Cancer Cancer is, of course, the worst-case scenario for oddly-colored skin. Fortunately, it's also among the rarest of pigmentation issues, Robinson says. "People with melanoma – we talk about their skin turning 'slate blue,'" he says. "That's a really bad sign" because it signals that the melanoma is cancerous and has traveled throughout the body. If you have moles that change color, size or shape, too, see a dermatologist pronto. [See: 7 Ways to Prevent Skin Cancer.] Bottom line? If you notice any changes in your skin color, see a board-certified dermatologist, who can properly diagnose and treat you. Hopefully, it was the margarita. I've seen a few people do your character asks for a lot of people, and I wanted to know if I could too? Or does it get annoying to answer for so many characters? 🍵for all of them, if you don't mind, and I totally understand if you do mind
OH PLEASE ASK AWAY!!! I am happy to go wild over all my OCs! Honestly trying to focus on one WIP is like trying to pick a favorite child lol. 🍵Half Tea & Half Lemonade: what is a goal your OC is working towards? Do they have smaller goals as well as something large? What progress have they made? Are they open to revision or adamant about what they need to accomplish? Magic & Silver Robin - Robin wants answers about what happened to his father. That's the overarching goal that's driven the rest of his smaller goals. He wanted to become a vampire hunter to try and investigate his father's disappearance, and he stayed in the job even when things got bad because he didn't want to lose his chance at getting answers. Robin isn't very open to changing that goal, and he insists on staying in the field when he changes agencies, because he swore a binding fae oath to find out what happened to his father and he literally can't change that. John - John wants to protect his fellow hunters the best he can. He feels responsible for the others he works with, and he's a very protective person at heart. He's changed how he chooses to do that, switching from an active field role to a training one, but he still does his best to make sure his trainees will have the best chance of surviving the job. Kira - Kira got into the hunter world trying to track down the vampire who attacked her and her mother. Even though he's since been staked, she's stayed on the job because the hunter research facilities have given her a huge opportunity to make scientific and technical breakthroughs. Her goal now is to improve the lives of both hunters and ordinary people with her work. Cody - Cody wants to be an author. He's currently a librarian to pay the bills, but his end goal is to get one of his myriad manuscripts published. He's a storyteller and he wants to share his stories with the world. Maira - Maira wants to make sure the human and vampire communities live in peace with each other. Her goal in her whole career has been to mediate disputes and try to find ways of bringing disparate groups together and getting them to see past conflict. Partnering Robin and John is an attempt at that on a small scale. Emma - Emma wants to make sure no one else goes through what she did, being unwillingly turned into a vampire. She keeps a close eye on what happens in her club, which she promotes as a place humans and vampires can mix, so that curious kids will come to her club and not go looking in more dangerous places. She also uses her position as the owner to gather information and pass it on to John. Arion - Arion wants to enjoy his un-life. His philosophy of the world is very hedonistic and self-serving. He doesn't care who else is damaged along the way, but he wants to have the things he enjoys. He's willing to sacrifice to get those things, which can sometimes make him appear to enjoy an austere existence, but he has specific goals, and his current one is to capture and enjoy a part-fae and their unique blood. Between the Trees Brooke - Brooke wants to keep her family together. The only people in her village she can count on are her adoptive father and brother, so she doesn't want to lose either of them. She'll do whatever it takes to hold onto the only people who haven't treated her as sub-human because of her vitiligo. Aspen - Aspen wants to heal people. He's never forgotten that he would have died as a child if not for the village healer who helped him, and he wants to pass that on to someone else. He feels like he was saved for a reason. Will - Will wants to protect his kids. He's a soldier at heart, and he will defend them however he can. He's tried to do that by adopting them and keeping them away from the main life of the village, but that's no longer enough, and he's been forced to try and find another, and more permanent, solution to keep them from being dragged into the dangers of the life they all lead. Written in Ink Jesse - Jesse wants to find a way to get humans to rethink their perception of the fae, so they will roll back the incredibly dangerous fae registration laws. He thinks his best chance of that is to take a job in the human world, and the idea of being a hunter appeals to him because he was rescued in the past by hunters and would like to be able to help someone else like him.
Amy - Amy wants to do the most good she can while she's still alive. She used to want to be a highly decorated hunter, but being bitten and infected by a vampire changed her perception. Now she's firmly aware of her own mortality, and she wants to do things that matter, because she has no idea how much time she has left. Tina - Tina is a healer, and she wants to not only physically heal people, but heal the rifts that have opened between the humans and fae. She doesn't like seeing pain of any kind and she wants to do what she can to relieve that. Who Fights Monsters (Doing the ones I know for this, there's a HUGE cast of characters and not all of them are speaking to my yet) Joe - Joe wants to keep his family safe and living in harmony. As the pack leader, he sees his role as keeping the peace between family members and presenting a united front to the rest of the world. He tries to make decisions that have the best chance of keeping the family together and alive, and the loss of Abby has made him a bit more cautious in his perspective. He can't stand the thought of losing another member of his family right now, be that to an unsolvable difference in opinion, or to something happening to them from the outside. Tom - Tom wants to make sure his family is safe. He values family loyalty above all else, and he will do whatever it takes to protect his pack, no matter the cost. He trusts his family to be in the right, and he will defend them even when things look bad. Maya - Maya is a bit torn between what she feels is her duty and what she finds to be her heart. She feels that her gift is meant to be used to bring people closure and find answers for them, but with a family to raise, she has to balance that perspective with looking after her own family and being what they need. While registration laws were in place, she stayed away from the city life in order to make sure she wouldn't be taken away from her family for being unregistered, but now that that's changed, she's once again trying to find a balance in her life. Kate - Kate wants to make sure people are treated with fairness and honesty. She only takes cases she truly believes are just. She has a stronger than usual sense of the fae value of honesty, and people twisting the system to get away with things they should pay for infuriates her. She wants the right thing to be done, and that to her is the highest importance. She has a strong sense of right and wrong and her morality is more black-and-white than the rest of her family. Erin - Erin wants to be a valued part of her family. She feels like an outsider, since she struggles with her shifting magic. While her family doesn't treat her differently because of that, she still feels as if she's somehow lacking some important feature of what it is to be a Phelan, and she wants to find a way to be herself and still be a good member of the family.
