I kind of want to see more sibling moments between Will, El, and Jonathan. Maybe Will is teaching El to draw, but Jonathan is also teaching El about photography. Will and Jonathan are trying to tell El which is better, but jokes on them, she likes both. Jonathan teaches El about the boundaries that come with being a photographer. If anyone knows the dos and don'ts, it's him. Meanwhile, Jonathan has his stereo blasting. Jonathan couldn't say no to her and let El put little braids in his hair. Later, when Joyce and Hopper find them, they're curled up on Jonathan's bed, fast asleep. Anyway, give me more sibling moments!

I don't get people excited about Will and El sibling scenes. Did Will and El even like each other at the end of S3? It seems unrealistic to me that Will or Jonathan would welcome El into the family so easily since their mother can barely make ends meet and Joyce still has mental health issues.

Wait whatttttt lol. Why would anyone think the Byers (aka sweetest fam) wouldn’t welcome El into their family? That Joyce, Will, and Jonathan in their own ways have experienced trauma and would be a wonderful family to try to be there and understand El’s trauma, even if the transition to Cali could be very bumpy, and that they’d all be going thru things and struggling? Also Joyce’s anxiety doesn’t make her any less loving as a parent. The money thing is confusing this season due to Owens and what looks like a plot hole, but they’d still welcome her with or without money. And then why would people not be excited for Will and El as siblings? They have some similar kinds of experiences and have both been exposed to the UD, and Will has some sensory powers; they’ve been paralleled in a lot of ways. Also Jopper will happen at some point so we were always headed for those siblings to all be together as a fam. Plus it’s a new dynamic the show has never shown before and I think it will be v sweet with what they’re going through <3

Working on my Jopper fics updates!

I promise I am working on Jopper updates! I have no excuse besides being slow--and I had to correct something in EYHD’s upcoming chapter so now I am rewriting a bunch of stuff. And, of course, TLTBTTD’s update will come after that (god, why did I give these fics such long titles lol). Anyway, since I can’t give a progress update on my Ao3 account because that is not a feature haha, it feels better to at least do it on here! So thanks for bearing with me! I am still here!! Also thought of a great Jopper fam one shot for December that is Christmas themed. Not too, too sure if anyone has done it before but if I am still inspired by then, I have it saved in a Google Doc for when the time comes!

I think Joyce and Hopper’s storylines have been largely boring, annoying, or even actively unpleasant since S3, between Hopper’s antagonistic behavior, the broad Russian caricatures, the focus on over-the-top action sequences, the jingoism, and the sidelining of Joyce. I miss when they had relatively grounded real-life adult concerns.

Yeah I think Jopper was way better written in s1 and s2; I didn’t like the Russia sideplot and even if they “redeemed” him or tried to from his super aggressive behavior in s3, I’m still just so annoyed they have made her secondary to him and made Joyce and the Winona a love interest. They simply need to write more for Joyce and give her more focus in s5. And I hope they also show the Byers-Hopper fam coming together as a unit.

So I’ve been thinking about this all day and I’m pretty sure it’s 99% cannon now that the Byers and Hoppers will be living together at the end of S3 (maybe not as a true family unit at first but let’s hope that's what they're working towards for S4 and endgame). Here’s my assumptions and why I think we got Jopper in the bag:

Spoilers and speculation follow...

Hopper and El live in a new house this season which you can kinda see from: a) the stills of Joyce and Hopper standing in the living room of a home with pillars and fancy bamboo wallpaper. (We haven't seen this living room yet!) and Hop's body language, playing with a rubber band indicates that he's comfy there, so less likely they're guests or only there on business) & b) El hanging out in a mint green bedroom when she's listening to music with Max and kissing Mike. That's her new bedroom! Yay!

Joyce appears to be standing Hop up on a fancy date at some point during the trailer. Are they seeing each other? Is it the first date? Third? IS HE PROPOSING?? It could be any and all situations at this point. Curious minds want to know.

Joyce and Hop are probably hooking up at the start of S3 and have been for a while but they just haven't labeled it yet. I could see Hop wanting to take it to the next step but Joyce is on the fence about the whole relationship thing. Understandable since she wants to avoid another repeat of what happened to her last BF (RIP Bob) so she's keeping him at arms length.

Joyce wants to move Will away from the Monster/Hawkins because she doesn't feel like they're safe there. It looks like she's about to lose her job anyway, so now's the perfect time.

"It's important to me that you feel safe. I want you to feel like this can still be your home." 😭

Also, there were those set photos from last summer that showed them filming Hop's truck (2 of em) at a big farmhouse and the leak that Netflix was trying to film a fake realtor ad at the Byers house as a teaser for S3. A lot of people at the time instantly came to the conclusion that the Byers and the Hoppers would move in together. I bet Hop will come at her with the "move in with me and the kid at the farmhouse and we'll take things slow" approach as a solution. Joyce agrees to move in with the boys in tow. The final shot is an ode to Yours, Mine and Ours or the Brady Bunch, take your pick.
