Felix and the Void Boys are adorable. Felix and I got to play and he let me play with him with only cotton paws and no teeth so it ended in joy. AND someone brought a dog into the toy store, a spaniel with long silky ears. The only thing that could make this better is if Mom were here and she'll be home tomorrow.
Awww!

Pedro Characters’ Reactions to You Wanting a Pet But I’m...Slightly an Asshole to the Characters?
Love Pedro and everyone’s headcanons and fics...and I’m pretty nice in this one anyway lol
Agent Whiskey
is it a farm animal or a large dog that can guard you?
if the answer is yes, then sure
if the answer is no, then his answer is also no
“Don’t you look at me like that, cherry blossom.”
you do look at him like that
he gives in the next day and allows you to choose anything you want
that’s how he ends up with a little terrier always on his heels (”Terrier is awful close to terror and now I know why.”)
when you’re relaxing he pats his thigh and let’s the dog curl up in his lap, ignoring your smirk as he pets it
Comandante Veracruz
he’ll allow it as long as you behave and the pet doesn’t start any trouble
that means a lot of blowjobs from you
doesn’t necessarily interact with the pet, but isn’t mean to it either
“Tell your animal to stop stealing my boot laces or I will...”
do nothing tbh
he keeps treats in his pockets secretly and he’ll allow your dog/cat one if ti comes pawing at him
pats their head
one time you found him playing with the boot laces and he claimed he was just trying to take them back
Dave York
he only says yes because you mentioned it in front of the girls and they started squealing
not a great person, but a GREAT dad
you are very limited in your choice of pets though
“I don’t want hair all over the house, I don’t want marks on the furniture, I don’t want-”
you end up with a Maltese
the girls like to put a bow in its hair which Dave pretends doesn’t make it cute
it’s not allowed in your bed at all
except eventually somehow it ends up on the foot of your bed and he’s like “Fine.”
Din Djarin
you prepare a whole little speech when you find the cute, lonely creature on the street of the planet where you’re refueling
you’re mouthing it to yourself as you walk back to the Razor Crest
imagine your surprise when you see Mando and the Child, the former’s arms full of more of the creatures
“The kid kept crying because they were selling them for food. I guess this is one thing he won’t eat.”
there’s not really room on the ship, but you’ll find them nice homes
nah lmao you keep them all
it makes everything a little crowded, but neither of you could just abandon them
they follow Mando around like ducklings following their mama
Ezra
he’s very pleased at the idea of a creature the two of you can coexist with
he might even be the one to bring it up
the two of you decide on whatever cats are now in the Prospect universe
“It reminds me much of myself, aloof until it discovers something it desires. Or wants pet.”
you often find it curled up in his lap or somewhere near him
it’s nice for it to be more than just the two of you now
quite possible you might end up with a lot more cats
you’ve both been lonely
Frankie ‘Catfish’ Morales
one of you is gonna come home with a stray
you are just the type of people who can’t leave a helpless little animal by itself
if it’s you, Frankie doesn’t even hesitate
“Yeah, babe, we can absolutely keep it.”
you’ll probably end up with two cats and a dog just from how soft you both are
the first kitten you find is probably named Oliver and probably has a bell on its collar
Frankie is openly affectionate with the animals and can almost always be found playing with them or petting them
yes they sleep in your bed bye
Javier Peña
the moment you come home with a stray kitten, he says no
maybe it’s because of another cat he once knew
maybe it’s because he’s just not a cat guy
“Just give it to the shelter, we’ll pick out a rabbit or something.”
he only let’s you keep it because he knows it’ll probably leave him alone
but it doesn’t lmao
it chooses him as its favorite as soon as it sees him
and yes okay maybe you come home to him with the cat curled up in his lap but it doesn’t mean he’s a cat person now
Marcus Pike
he’s the kind of guy who dreams of the perfect little family with a Golden Retriever and a tabby cat
so he’s gonna say yes to whatever pet you want
those are his preferred types, but he’ll let you choose anything from a fish to any breed of dog or cat
“We can go to the shelter tomorrow and see what’s there, okay?”
he knows which one to choose the moment he sees you and a dog fall in love with each other
goes to the pet store right after to buy the best food and lots of toys
he let’s it cuddle all over him and it’s the cutest thing ever
yes it sleeps between the two of you in bed unless you shoo it to the living room for some ~alone time~ bc you need that life, home, and family if you want it
Maxwell Lord
no
why even ask?
a man that expensive does NOT want an animal around
“They’re messy and they’re loud and I don’t know what they’re thinking which freaks me out.”
so yeah you end up with a very expensive Poodle
it freaks him out every time it barks
but hey you blew him for it so can he really complain?
yes, daily
Max Phillips
the first thing you ask is if he eats animals
you assume by the way he’s staring at you that he doesn’t
realization comes to his face when you finally ask if it was possible for you to have a pet
“Hey, sure, as long as it goes with my suits.”
you adopt a dog that Max names Buddy
it barks at him like it knows he’s a supernatural creature
you’ve found him on the back of the couch trying to keep away from the dog more than once
he tries to use the dog to make sales bc he knows people love pets
Oberyn Martell
he knows you want a pet before you even ask
like you’re thinking about bringing it up and he just shows up with some tiny animal
or a dozen tiny animals is also possible
“Does it please you?”
he’ll let you have anything you want honestly
loves to watch you play with your pets
the joy on your face and the way the sun touches you just right...
it makes him horny. what doesn’t make him horny-
Pero Tovar
he likes outside pets like horses and barn cats
he does allow a big guard dog like an Irish Wolfhound inside and feeds it during dinner when it’s sneaking under the table
when you want house cats or smaller dogs, though...
“No.”
but this grumpy man is soft for one person and one person only
he allows you a little spaniel bc you keep looking at him with puppy eyes
yes he looks grumpy as you walk around town with that thing in your arms, but he makes sure to buy it a treat when you stop at the butcher’s
and, yes, he does eventually allow a couple house cats and he buys cream especially for them

What the Pic?
Participants: @ariasfandom, @rebelmeg, @wolfnprey, @ladydarkphoenix-blog, @bookdragon13, @liquidlightz, @jeminamoonnight, @caiti-creative-corner, @ribbonsflyingoutthewindow, @ibelieveinturtles
Tumblr media
@ariasfandom - Bucky started watching Oobi and wanted to make an OC of it
@rebelmeg - all sam wanted to do was sleep in.  that was it, that was all he wanted out of a saturday.  which, of course, was the first thing his annoying houseguest decided to ruin, with a fist in his face at the crack of dawn.  a fist wearing googly eyes.  "bucky, what the hell?"
@wolfnprey - This is the default picture Clint sends out when he's judging. Bucky retaliates by posting his own in the vents and hides Clint's arrows.
@ladydarkphoenix-blog - Bucky gets caught watching kids(Sam's nephews, Clint's kids, insert kids here} unaware but has no idea how to entertain them so somehow ends up telling stories with his hands playing characters that are surprisingly effective
@bookdragon13 - Bucky gets drunk on Asgardian mead and thinks it’d be hilarious to put googly eyes on his metal hand and make it talk for him the rest of the night
@liquidlightz - Being an Eldritch deity apparently wasn't as awe inspiring as he'd always assumed himself to be, given that his host was entirely un-phased and thought it was funny to make puppet hands out of him and make up silly stories.  The fact that he found this insult highly entertaining was even worse for his ego.
Keep reading for more!
Tumblr media
@bookdragon13 - Bucky buys that for Clint after staying with him for a couple days. Clint absolutely loves it Of course
@rebelmeg - "likl.  likl?!  who approved that?  how did that make it to store shelves!  this is a disgrace!" "bucky, you really need to calm down." "i'll calm down when that travesty is removed from my sight!" going shopping with bucky is never boring.
@ladydarkphoenix-blog - Bought as a gift for himself because Bucky found the misspelling hilarious and it would bug the most important of his guests by making them guess if he didn't notice that little detail or what was happening in his head. Watching them try to deal with it gives Bucky much joy
@wolfnprey - The group stares, unimpressed, as people in the gallery move around them. Nat and Tony insist that the artist is just fucking with people, while Sam and Clint argue over how deep the meaning is. Bucky takes one look at Steve and knows his friend is dying a bit inside at how low art has stooped in the modern age. Bucky's nice enough not to comment that it's made out of a damn shower rug.
@ariasfandom - "Bucky, we live together. I know for a fact you didn't "wake up like this"
@liquidlightz - In the morning, his boyfriend told him how beautiful he looked, and how amazing his hair was, despite having mussed it all up during their passionate evening before.  Apparently Bucky didn't suffer from bed hair but from magically self-smoothing hair.  Ok, so maybe he used his magiks a little to keep it looking so good, what was the harm in that.  So when Bucky saw this in a store he just had to get it and put it by the foot of his bed.
Tumblr media
@ladydarkphoenix-blog - Bucky never thought he'd be turned into a dog. He also never thought he'd be staying with Clint and his dog or that the kids in the building would try to disguise him like this
@rebelmeg - bucky wasn't sure to think when he opened his door one morning to find a dog on the step wearing graucho glasses.  he also wasn't sure if he should trust the note tied to the dog's collar that said, "pet me, i'm yours."  but either way, the spaniel was pretty cute, and it turned out to be a snuggler.  worst things could happen.
@ribbonsflyingoutthewindow - If you're going to name your dog Professor Diggory and you're going to ask Bucky to dogsit him, you should be prepared for the fact that Bucky’s going to accidentally make him an internet celebrity. Groucho glasses and the ability to pose very still for a picture while Bucky holds a pretzel between his lips is the easiest way to have a booming Instagram account in under a week. Bucky and Professor Diggory are practically professionals now. Don't be jealous.
Tumblr media
@rebelmeg - it has happened every time.  every single time he goes to the mcdonald's closest to his house, they manage to mess up his order somehow.  actually, he's starting to suspect it's on purpose.  there had definitely been a smirk on the guy's face when he handed bucky his order through the window.  that might explain why his request for a cheeseburger with just ketchup had nothing but ketchup between the buns.  hmm.  this might mean war.
@ibelieveinturtles - Sick of working long hours at minimum wage, dealing with shitty customers amd an even shittier manager, Bucky decides its time to try that malicious compliance thing.
@ladydarkphoenix-blog - What's happened to customer service?!?! Back in his day if you made a simple request for a burger with only ketchup the kitchen was smart enough to know what you meant. Were they messing with him? Can they not figure out what a simple order meant? Bucky sighed and shook his head. He'd had worse dinners
@ribbonsflyingoutthewindow - So Steve's got a fuckton of allergies and quite frankly, Bucky doesn't even know what they all are, so telling the person at the drive thru that Steve wanted "a McDouble with just ketchup" was a precautionary action. He thought because he knew Steve was allergic to onions and dairy and mustard that it was safer to ask for only ketchup (probably Steve's only known safe-listed condiment) and potentially not be the one to accidentally murder a man he cared deeply about. But seeing Steve later open the hamburger bun to reveal a bun with a single squirt of ketchup inside made Bucky literally faceplant into his car horn. That was not what he fucking meant.
Tumblr media
@rebelmeg - swaying gently in the tropical breeze that smelled like ocean and flowers, bucky smiled to himself.  he was staring up at the clouds and palm trees overhead, his hammock creaking just slightly.  off to his right, his favorite person in the world was sprawled on a towel on the sand, soaking in the sun and drinking some kind of fancy umbrella drink with a silly straw.  best vacation ever.
@ladydarkphoenix-blog - Steve made jumping out of planes seem so easy. He never needed a parachute, never seemed to have the aches and pains after. With a sigh, Bucky stared up at the sky. At least he had a good view.
@ribbonsflyingoutthewindow - Pic Summary:When Bucky, Sam, and Natasha agreed to share an AirBnB for their Hollywood vacation, they'd only planned to see some famous sights and maybe try to pose with someone as famous as the monkey from the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Then they'd discovered that arguably the two hottest actors in the entire film industry, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, were sharing the house next door! Overnight it became a bet and then a high stakes fight to the (okay, not actual) death to see which of them could meet one of the two actors first. Bucky hadn't exactly been spying while he was standing hidden behind an open gate on their temporary neighbor's property, but he must have been well hidden anyway because the moment he went to run and hide, a sleek convertible pulled out of the drive and directly into a fleeing Bucky. He kind of hates that his first thought upon opening his eyes and looking up to see only trees and a cloudy blue sky above him was that at least he'd probably won the bet.

Brenda was born on June 3, 1925 in Calgary, Alberta. Her father, Ivan Halliday, was born in Myanmar and raised in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Her mother, Winifred Ortmans, was born in London and raised in Buckinghamshire, UK. They met on board a ship taking them to Montreal, he to a bank position in Red Deer and she as companion to a woman and her young daughter. After their marriage they moved to Cloverdale where they bought a farm and began raising chickens.
As a child, Brenda struggled with severe asthma and found the long climb up to the local school very difficult. In the end, concerned family members in England made the decision to fund her admission to a boarding school in Vancouver. She was enrolled at Taunton House School for about ten years, graduating in 1943.
Sadly, her father died around this time and soon after, they sold the farm and moved to Vancouver. Brenda helped out in a kindergarten, worked at Birks jewelry store and took a tailoring course among other things until, in the late 1940s, she met Stan Moe through a family member. Brenda and Stan were married on October 11, 1950 in Vancouver. Christopher Eric was born September 7, 1953 and Wendy Louise followed on March 15, 1956.
They began their married life in a Kitsilano apartment, then bought their first house on Belmont Street near Spanish Banks. In 1957, they moved to Kelowna where Stan had family and a job opportunity. They moved back to Vancouver in 1961 and settled into a rented house on Elm Street in Kerrisdale. In 1968, they bought what would be their last home on 38th Avenue, which became a hub of sorts for family occasions and visiting relations.
After Stan passed away in 1991, Brenda continued to live in the house, happily self-sufficient, until 2007, when it seemed the right time for Wendy to join her there. For the next few years, along with Chris and his wife, Elaine, they continued to host family and friends for birthdays, Christmases and holiday visits. And Brenda, who was held in great affection by her neighbours on 38th, kept an equally affectionate eye on all of them from her chair on the front porch. Growing up during the depression, when looking out for your rural neighbours could mean the difference between thriving and failing, she had a warm sense of responsibility for everyone’s welfare and enjoyed a good chat as well.
Brenda loved gardening and plants of all kinds. She also enjoyed puttering around the house rearranging furniture and decorations just to keep things interesting. In our younger days we would often come home from school to find our bedrooms transformed or all the paintings switched out. She was hilariously funny and infamous for her puns, going all the way back to her school days when she was dubbed “the girl most likely to pun” at her graduation. She enjoyed getting out to the country on a Sunday drive and loved our many trips back to Kelowna, where she swore she’d seen the Ogopogo.
She had many pets throughout her life, beginning with a pair of rabbits she named Gizzard and Guts, followed by a Scottish Terrier named Joey. She was allergic to cats but managed to own two of them over the years, along with Sparky, the cocker spaniel and Willie, the corgi-spaniel mix. More recently she adored Piper, who came to us for puppy-sitting while her human was at work during the day. There were also various mice, hamsters, turtles and, of course, chickens.
Tumblr media
At nine, on a visit to England with her mother, Brenda was given the opportunity to attend a singing class with Princess Elizabeth. A friend knew the instructor, who made the arrangements, and she was seated next to Elizabeth, who was told that, “This little girl has come all the way from Canada just to see you.” Apparently Elizabeth was wearing a yellow dress and they all sang The Skye Boat Song.
Early days in Cloverdale also included local dances during World War II. Young soldiers would drive around the neighbourhood picking up the girls and whisk them off to a nearby aeroplane hangar for an evening of much needed frivolity. Her 21st birthday was celebrated at the old Panorama Roof restaurant in the Hotel Vancouver. Brenda was a very beautiful, vibrant young woman and received several proposals of marriage, once from a man named Edwin Twaddle.
Music of many kinds, but especially classical, were one of Brenda’s greatest joys. PBS, Knowledge Network and the CBC were in constant play, and she knew most of the pieces by heart. Among her favourites were Mozart, Chopin and Brahms, Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell and Leontyne Price.
Brenda was also a devout Anglican with a strong faith; she kept a Bible beside her bed and found comfort in daily prayer. She attended St. Mary’s Kerrisdale Church for decades, always happy to help with the annual rummage sale and other parish activities.
Although life wasn’t easy for Brenda over the last few years, she accepted her limitations and was deeply grateful to be in her own house, in a beautiful neighbourhood with family and friends close by. She celebrated her 96th birthday on June 3rd and passed away peacefully at home on June 19th.
Brenda was very much loved and will be very much missed by everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her humour, kindness and cheerful, common sense approach to life. She approached her death in the same spirit, had made her peace and was ready to go.
A memorial will be planned for a later date and we will contact you with the information.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Conrad Rusnak and his team, the nurses and staff of the Pacific Spirit Community Health Centre and the Evergreen Community Health Centre, the “Lift Assist” Firefighters and all our family, friends and neighbours for their compassionate support and care during this time. We appreciate you all more than we can say.

Bah Hiddleston | Tom Hiddleston x OFC (Tamra Harmon) | Chapter 5 | Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
Tumblr media
Pairing: Tom Hiddleston x OFC (Tamra Harmon)
Summary:  Tamra Harmon has no mind to mess with Christmas. All that talk about Christmas magic and the joy of the holidays is just a bunch of mumbo jumbo. But will a chance encounter with perennial Christmas lover Tom Hiddleston change all that?
This chapter:   A trip to the Natural History Museum leads to a friendly wager. Tom struggles with an inner turmoil and will the snow ruin all their plans?
Warnings for story: smut, oral sex, implied smut, vaginal sex, light angst
-
Tom tossed and turned that night, waking the next morning groggy and with a crick in his neck. He skipped his usual morning run to get some extra rest and slept through his alarm. He got ready as fast as possible, giving Bobby a quick pet before heading out the door.
When he arrived at Tamra’s, she is already outside, bundled up in her hat, scarf, and new coat.
“You’re late. Here hold this.” Tamra shoved two coffees and a brown bag as she turned to lock the front door.
“Breakfast?” Tom asked as he opened the bag to spy the contents.
“Pain au chocolat.” Tamra replied, doing a dead on impression of Tom. “I figured I would keep you in supply of chocolate. Did you sleep okay? You don’t look well.”
Tom ran his hands across his beard. He had hoped she wouldn’t notice the dark circles under his eyes. “Bobby kept me up. But nothing a good cup of coffee won’t fix.” Tom gave her a smile, and she returned with one of her own.
“Drink up.” She took the other cup and sipped. “We have a big day!”
“Lead on, museum expert.”
As they headed to the museum, Tom let his thoughts wander as Tamra gripped his hand to lead him through the crowds. He replayed Luke and Ben’s comments from the last night. They are imagining things. He told himself, rationalizing away the lump in his throat and butterflies in his stomach to lack of sleep and coffee.
They moved through the exhibits and Tamra described all the exhibits to Tom, pulling from display to display. Tom nodded and listened to Tamra’s voice. Her passion once again sweeping him up into a cloud of hubris.
“You’re quiet this morning.” She commented as they walked into another room.
“I’m enjoying your company. You explain everything so well.”
Tamra giggled. “I thought I might be boring you.”
“Not even close. Please continue on.” Tom gestured for her to lead the way.
They reached a special exhibit called “Crime Scene Live” and read the information and discovered you get to solve a crime and at the end you get to find out if you guessed the killer. They purchased tickets and headed into the experience.
“Care to make a friendly wager?” Tom commented raising his eyebrows.
“Terms?”
“First person to guess the killer wins. Loser cooks the winner dinner.”
Tamra tilted her head. “Deal.” She took off running. Tom soon followed on her heels.
“No running!” A docent warned as Tom zoomed by. Tamra giggled as Tom apologized before taking off at a fast walk.
Tom arrived at the first station with Tamra halfway through the task. The two of them worked fast and furious through each station. Tamra held a slight lead until they reach the fake blood. She froze as she stood staring at the vials.
“You’re not squeamish about fake blood, are you?” Tom mocked as he pulled on the protective gear before sitting down to begin the station.
“No.” she lied. She shuffled from one foot to another. Tom moved with a doctor’s precision through the station. “Okay maybe a little.”
“Sit down.” Tom insisted as he patted the seat next to him. “I’ll help you.”
Tamra gave him an uneasy smile but sat down next to him. “Thank you.”
“My pleasure. Tom finished up his portion first and then did the same for Tamra. He rose.
“You’re leaving?!”
“I intend to win.” Tom’s lips pulled into a large toothy grin. “You can move on once your results come back.” Tom took off and Tamra lost sight of him.
Her results came back a few moments later, and she took off. Tamra moved the stations as fast as she could and by the time came to enter results, Tom got there only a half a second before her.
“Damn!” she cursed as Tom reached the final station.
“And to the victor goes the…” Tom quoted as he input his answer. A big red X appeared on the screen. His face fell. “… spoils.”
Tamra pushed him out of the way. “What were you saying?” A green check mark popped up after she put her anser in. She raised her arms in celebration. She danced a circle around a dejected Tom. “You owe me dinner.”
“Well played.” Tom extended his hand. Tamra grabbed him into a quick hug. “Now let’s check out the rest of the museum.” She nodded and bounded off towards the exit. Tom discarded his paper in the nearest trash bin so Tamra didn’t spy his answers.
If Tamra’s energy level only skyrocketed after her victory. She bounced through the rest of the exhibits. She even smacked someone in the back of the head when she gestured with a bit too much gusto.
“So sorry!” she screamed as the gentleman threw a dirty stare their direction.
Tom pulled her close to him. “Perhaps we should leave the premises before they charge you with assault and I am named an accomplice.”
“Good idea. Lunch?”
“A woman after my own heart.” He commented.
They found somewhere nearby to grab some food. Tamra talked a mile a minute the entire time while Tom sat silent. He knew if interrupted she would stop talking, but he liked be on the listening end of the conversation. They spent the rest of the afternoon walking around the city. Tom pointed out all the festive decorations and every time, Tamra turned her nose up every time.
“Stop trying to make Christmas happen.”
“Stop fighting it.” Tom quipped back. “Christmas is not the enemy.”
“Maybe for you. But the only thing I associate with Christmas is heartbreak and my family falling apart.” Her voice cracked a touch on the word “family.”
Tom’s heart hurt at the anguish on Tamra’s face. “There must be a happy Christmas memory you have.” Tom’s hand moved in a circle as he grasped for the words. He snapped his fingers. “Your favorite Christmas present as a child?”
Tamra stopped in her tracks. “I don’t know. No one has asked anything about Christmas in a long time.”
“I can’t imagine why.”
Tamra shot him daggers. “Give me a second to reflect. What’s yours?”
Tom ran his fingers across his chin, bristling his beard. “For me, it would be this little cassette recorder. I would use to put on these little shows. Early seeds of my future career I guess.”
“Aww.” Tamra cooed. “Mine would be a Cabbage Patch doll.” Tom raised his eyebrows as if to spur the memory on. “My grandmother gave it to me. She staked it out at the store just for me. It was one of the last presents she got me before she passed away. I still have that doll up in my attic.”
“You never struck me as the sentimental type.”
“I may hate Christmas but I am not a monster, Tom! You never asked.” Her nostrils flared in anger.
Tom held his arms up in defeat. “I yield! You are right. I apologize.”
The conversation continued like this, with the two of them trading memories and snippets of childhood and young adulthood. Tamra burst into laughter when Tom showed her a picture of him with blonde curls.
“Like Little Orphan Annie!”
“Okay, let’s never say that to my face ever again.”
Daylight waned, and the time came to head to Tom’s for dinner. Tom’s mind raced as he drove the route home. He went through a mental checklist on the state of his home. Was the dirty laundry picked up? Dishes out of the sink? Bobby’s toys put away? Oh God, Bobby! What if he doesn’t like Tamra? What if she is allergic? He gripped the steering wheel with a white knuckle grip. Tamra gazed out the window at the passing houses. He spotted something out of the corner of his eye and made a sharp turn.
“What the hell!” Tamra remarked as the car came to an abrupt stop. Tom jumped out of the car and jogged to her side of the car.
“Are you going to get out and help me pick out a tree or not?” Tom opened the door for her.
“Do I have a choice?” she got out of the car, grumbling.
“Not really. Come.” Tom gave a hand to help pull her to her feet.
Tom took off amongst the trees on the side of the road. Tamra rolled her eyes and followed him into the makeshift forest. As Tom ran his hands over the trees, a light snow began to fall.
“Pick a tree so we can go.” Tamra whined as snow dusted her shoulders.
“Are you bothered by a bit of snow?” Tom teased as he grabbed a nearby tree by its trunk and gave it a firm shake.
“I don’t like the cold.”
“Then help. What about this one?” Tom held one out.
Tamra turned her head to the side. “The trunk is crooked.”
He put that tree down and grabbed another one. “The top is too sparse.”
Tom peeked around the tree. “For someone who hates Christmas you are awfully critical about Christmas trees.”
“Do you want my help or not?”
“At this point, I am leaning towards not.” Tom commented as he tossed the tree to the side. Tamra walked to the back of the lot. She disappeared behind a stack of trees only to emerge moments later, a tree in hand.
“This one.” She blew an errant lock of hair out of her face.
Tom moved next to Tamra, brushing pine needles off her shoulders before placing his arm there. “You’re right. It’s perfect.” Tom squeezed her into his side by the shoulder. “Now let’s go.”
Tom paid for the tree and Tamra helped him hoist the whole thing on top of the car. As they continued on their way. Tamra held her hands in front of the air vent.
“Here.” Tom grabbed her hand and wrapped his fingers around hers. “You are ice cold. Nothing a nice cup of tea can’t help.”
“Sounds nice.” She placed her other hand on top of Tom’s.
They stayed like that the rest of the drive, long after the heat kicked in. The car pulled into the drive as a heavier snow began to fall. As they hustled up the stairs, Tom stopped Tamra.
“You’re not allergic to dogs are you?”
“No. You have a dog?”
“A spaniel named Bobby. I also can not speak as to the condition of the home. I did not expect company.”
Tamra smiled. “You’ve seen me in my bathrobe. I can see past a few dirty dishes and stray clothes.”
Tom smirked as he turned the key in the lock and opened the door. Tamra heard the clicking of nails on the floors. Before she realized, a small ball of brown fur ran right into her legs.
“Bobby! Behave.” Tom scolded.
“It’s fine. No bruises, Bobby.” Tamra knelt down to scratch behind the dog’s ears. “Which I am afraid I can’t say the same for your owner.”
Tom blushed and flicked on the hallway light. He hung the coats and pushed up his sleeves before heading to the kitchen. Tamra followed and Tom gestured to the living room. “Make yourself at home. I’ll make you that cup of tea and then start on dinner.”
Tamra stood in the middle of the living area. Bookshelves covered every available wall space. Every shelf stuffed to the gills with books of all shapes and sizes. Tamra perused the shelves, running her fingers along the spines as she looked. Her hand lighted on a particular volume and she pulled the book out to read the back cover.
“See anything you like?” Tom asked as he entered with the tea. Tamra startled, throwing the book in the air before catching it inches from the floor.
“I didn’t mean to startle you. Tea’s ready. I fixed it the same way as at the National Gallery.”
“You remembered?” she took a tentative sip to check, the tea tasted spot on. “Thank you.”
Tom grinned. “Now that I impressed with tea, the pressure is on for dinner.”
Tamra took another sip. “What are you making?”
“My specialty, Spaghetti Bolognese. Now if you will excuse me, I have a debt to settle.” He tied an apron on to protect his clothes. The whole scene was positively domestic to Tamra.
She settled into a nearby armchair with the book in hand. She read the cover first before cracking it open and began to read. Tom walked by a few times to check on her and smiled at the scene of Tamra curled in the chair with Bobby at her feet, as though this was her place and not Tom’s. He ignored the buzzing in his stomach to return to cooking.
“Dinner’s ready!” Tom announced when he placed the plates onto the table. Tamra looked up from the book. She stretched before standing.
“Already?” She stood to meet him at the table.
“It’s been over an hour.” Tom gestured for her to sit next to him.
“An hour?!”
“One has the tendency to lose oneself when lost in a good book.”
“Who said that? Shakespeare?”
“That’s an original Hiddleston.”
“Oh. Sorry.” Tamra took a large sip on wine to keep herself from inserting her foot even further into her mouth.
“ No apologies necessary. I appreciate the compliment.”
“I wouldn’t want you to get a swell head so I will keep the compliments to a minimum.”
Tom laughed. “I am sure my friends and family would encourage your efforts.”
“Tell me more about your family.”
Tom’s eyes lit up as he talked about his parents and his sisters. She couldn’t imagine what life was like in the Hiddleston family if they all had even half the energy Tom did.
“My…” Tom commented as he looked at his watch while clearing the plates. “look at the time, I need to get you home.”
“Before I turn into a pumpkin?” Tamra giggled, giddy on wine and pasta.
“Something like that.” Tom’s expression went from boisterous to somber as he glanced out the window. “Oh no.”
“What?” Tamra pushed behind him, her chin digging into his shoulder. She saw the roads covered with snow, far more than a dusting. And the snow continued to fall in heavy sheets.
“I’m afraid we’re snowed in. There is no way I can navigate those streets with all the snow.”
“What about public transportation?” Tamra asked, her brows furrowed
“Doubtful. You’re going to have to stay here the night.” Tom noticed Tamra’s face paled, so he placed his hand on top of hers. “In the guest room.” Tamra let out a breath.
Tamra stepped away to finish clearing the dishes. She yawned a few times during the process. “Why don’t I show you to the room?” Tamra nodded and followed Tom down the hallway.
The room contained a bed, dresser, nightstand, and lamp. The bed made with white sheets. Tom opened one of the dresser drawers. “Here are some clothes to sleep in.” He handed her a shirt and pants.
“Why do you have women’s clothes?”
“My sister left them here the last time she stayed over.” Tom explained. “What did you think? I have some sort of secret girlfriend.”
“Something like that. You are a famous actor.”
“Who happens to be as single as they come. Much to the chagrin of my mother.” Blood rushed to Tom’s ears. He shook his head to clear the buzzing. “The bathroom’s down the hall, Bobby usually sleeps in my room, and I am the door at the end if you need anything.”
Tamra nodded. “Thanks Tom. For everything.” They walked to the door together.
“My pleasure. See you in the morning. Hopefully, the roads are clear by then.”
Tamra rose on her toes, kissing Tom’s cheek. “Goodnight Tom.”
He shut the door with a smile and walked down the hall to his room, shutting the door behind once Bobby sauntered in. His fingers traced the place where her lips touched moments before. Once again blood rushed to his head and Tom stumbled to the bed lightheaded.
“Fuck!” he muttered as he stared at the closed door. He cursed Benedict and Luke but mostly himself as he tossed and turned that night.

Webkinz ask game
No one asked me questions, but I’m gonna fill it out anyways since I’m bored.
1. How many webkinz do you have entered online?      44! I have more plushies than that, though.
2. When did you first start playing?      It was in 2006, I got a cocker spaniel (Brownie) for my 7th birthday!
3. Who’s your favorite mascot?      I’m not sure if they are technically a mascot or NPC, but I really always loved Arte and Doctor Quack!
4. Which of your Kinz do you play as/with the most?      I always fill up all of the hearts of my webkinz, so I don’t really have a main until they are all full. At that point I use my favorite at the time- right now it’s Brandy.
5. What’s your favorite theme?      Ugh! Hard question. I really loved the aquatic theme when I first discovered it, and I still love it!
6. If you could get a webkinz of your choice to register right now, which would it be?      I would choose the bullfrog! I got a plushie of them at a thrift store, but I don’t have a code. I really want one online, but why buy another plushie + code when I already have a plushie? It might be my only option at this point though....
7. How many rooms do you have at the moment?      66. I like to keep my house an even square, so I bought a bunch of extra rooms. (I ended up buying more when I needed specific sizes of rooms, so it’s not even square anymore XD)
8. What’s your favorite food item?      I really like the Berrirbrite Blast. It looks so yummy!
9. Do you collect any items?      I collect pretty much everything. I like owning one of everything in any game, minus the super common stuff I can easily buy at the w-shop if I need it. So, rare items, PSIs, wish machine items, quest prizes, etc.
10. What’s your favorite type of pet?      I really like the old style pets, like the old cats, dogs, pig, bear... the ones with that fur texture, you know??? the one??? It reminds me of my childhood.
11. Do you tend to theme your rooms or just wing it?      I tend to just go by colors of pieces that look good together :)
12. Have you ever gotten the Crown of Wonder?      yes!!! Birthday wears it all the time :D
13. Do you have any headcanons?      Not for NPCs, but all of my kinz!
14. Do your kinz have backgrounds or backstories?      Some of them do! Most of them don’t have backstories, but just personalities and how they interact with each other. I really love writing, so I’ve written some stories about my kinz. If you all would like to see them, just let me know!
15. What made you start playing again?      I saw my plushies when I was moving, and remembered the overwhelming JOY they gave me when I was a kid. I brought up my account- I still remembered the password, but the account was archived. A few days later, I was back!
16. Are you a deluxe member? Have you been in the past?      I was not a deluxe member until November of 2018 when deluxe was on sale, and I hope it goes on sale again next year for black friday again! Even if it isn’t on sale, I will renew.
17. Do you have the mobile app?      I do! I don’t use it often, mainly for the daily wheel of wow spin, and sometimes the arcade to get a little kinzcash when I’m on my break at work.
18. What was your first webkinz?      My first webkinz was a cocker spaniel, named Brownie! She was given to me on my 7th birthday :D
19. Have you ever misspelled one of your pet’s names when adopting them?      Two! Bananas, my monkey, his name isn’t capitalized. Bungie, on the other hand, his name wasn’t accepted (probably because it has bun in it, but buttercup worked??? so we can use butt and not bun? I did adopt buttercup in 2006 though...) His name is B -my last name-.
20. What’s your favorite item you have?      Oooh this is a hard one! I really really like the darling garden shelves!
21. If you could change something about the game, what would it be?      For some reason, webkinz is a lot louder than any other tab. There is no way to adjust the volume, as far as I am aware. This makes it hard for me to do other things while playing webkinz. Also, way too many ads if you don’t have deluxe or ad blocker.
22. Do you go to the Kinzville Academy?      Not really! If a pet requests it, yeah, or a quest, totally. Other than that, no.
23. Do you do quests in the Adventure Park?      Not really! I do them every once it a while, but most of the time I forget it exists.
24. What’s your favorite events in webkinz?      I really like the holiday collection events! Even though I log on almost every day, i brings a bit of variety and I love it :D
25. What’s your favorite daily activity?      My favorite is doing the gem hunt! I just love the whole atmosphere, music, and chance.

Fresh dog food delivery is a hot new trend. Think of it as Blue Apron for dogs—only the cooking is already done for you. If you’ve ever considered homemade dog food, or wish your dog could eat whole, fresh foods more often, then these solutions might be a fit. And if those puppy dog eyes are any indication, your dogs wouldn’t mind, either. Homemade dog food delivery doesn’t come cheap, but it’s very convenient. There are now several companies that deliver fresh, prepared foods to your door for your pet. We tested a number of top options to give you the scoop on each.
How fresh are these dog meal kits? Well, they basically smell like your leftovers, and they look like a hearty stew, minus all the liquid. Packaging varies, from tear-off pouches to yogurt-like containers; some are frozen, others stored in the fridge. Read on for the full details, including price ranges. Get links to exclusive discounts for Rover readers, too!
Why Fresh Food for Dogs?
Alternative foods are gaining popularity among pet owners. Disenchantment with large pet food brands, concern over the quality of ingredients, and an increased focus on how food affects a pet’s health have led owners to consider a range of options from grain-free to raw food diets or making their own meals at home.
Fresh dog food delivery services take the place of making your pet’s food from scratch. They start with fresh, whole ingredients like lean proteins, veggies, and whole grains, package them up, and ship them to your door. They also make sure their recipes meet AAFCO standards for pet food, which means the foods include the vitamins and minerals needed to make a food nutritionally complete for your dog.
Many owners who’ve made the switch to fresh food say the diet has improved their pet’s coat, energy levels, and other health conditions. We weren’t able to test the long-term effects on our taste-tester dogs, but we can verify that they enjoyed each and every meal from this review.
You can feed these meals to your dogs as mixer add-ons to their current food, as a kind of dietary supplement, or feed them fresh food exclusively. If you’re using these meal kits as a supplement, the cost is lower. Whatever you decide, there’s likely to be a transition period where you’ll slowly introduce the fresh food to your pet so as to avoid any tummy upsets.
The Top Fresh Dog Food Delivery Brands Reviewed
Note: We were sent complimentary trial subscriptions of these dog food brands to test on our pups, but all opinions are unbiased and based on our observations of our dogs’ experience with the food.
Convenient, Customized, Consistent: Ollie
Price: Starts at $2 a day, depending on plan, recipe, and dog size. General averages range from $9 to $42 per week.
Get your first order at 60% off, plus a free bag of treats, using the link below.
Shop at Ollie
Our experience: My dog was a big fan of Ollie’s fresh food and wiggled with excitement every time he saw the container come out of my fridge. The feeding instructions were very detailed and easy to understand, and I appreciated the booklet with a schedule for easing my dog from his current kibble to an Ollie diet to avoid digestive issues. The brand is definitely very focused on education: the booklet also included tips for keeping the food fresh, guidelines for feeding (with tips for picky eaters), and expected results from switching to Ollie (increased energy, less allergies, weight management, etc).
I like that they provide a cute orange scoop and reusable container to keep the daily portions in my fridge between meal times. The food is easy to store, though two week’s worth took up quite a bit of space in my freezer. Even though it was wet, fresh food, it didn’t gross me out like other wet foods have, probably because it more closely resembles “human” food (i.e. I could see the peas, carrots, etc) and smelled pleasant. The ingredient list (I tried the Chicken recipe with my dog) was also high quality and seemed more straightforward compared to other premium dog foods I’ve encountered.
The whole experience, from initial sign-up to packaging and portion size, feels very customized.
What sets them apart:
The packaging was super thorough and attractive. The first shipment included dry ice so the food was still very frozen, plus a welcome packet with information I didn’t even know I needed, and a cute reusable scoop and container (they call it a “puptainer,” and it also doubles as a dog bowl).
The subscription seems very customized to my dog and Ollie asks quite a few questions ahead of time to recommend a food and portion size (they even get as specific as how many calories my dog should intake per day). They seem very cognizant of activity level, allergies, and other sensitivities when setting up the plan.
I received an email a couple days ahead of when my next order would ship out, which was nice because it allowed me to make changes to the frequency, ship date, or recipe ahead of time (or add on some treats).
The foods are “minimally processed” to preserve their nutrients and recipes are formulated by a veterinary nutritionist.
Available recipes: Heed the Cattle Call (Beef), Get Your Gobble On (Turkey), Dare to Cross the Road (Chicken), Get Some Sheep Thrills (Lamb)
Shop at Ollie
Most Variety: Nom Nom
Price: $30 to $120 per week.
Use the link below to get 20% off your first order.
Shop at Nom Nom
Our experience: Their system was the easiest to use: Small, space-saving packaging, portioned out by meal (two meals a day), so all I had to do was open a bag and pour it into the bowl. Their food also looked the freshest and most naturally colorful of all the brands.
What sets them apart:
Small, space-saving vacuum-sealed plastic bags with easy-tear tops
Each serving is individually packaged (two servings per day per dog)
The package has the name of the food and all the ingredients in it
These had the most vibrant colors of the brands we tried
My dogs seemed most excited to eat this one
They also offer meals for cats
Available recipes: Chicken Chow Wow (I could see individual sweet potato bites in this), Heartland Beef Mash, Tasty Turkey Fare, Porkalicious Potluck, Egg & Veggie Medley
Shop at Nom Nom
Price: Depending on age, breed, and size of dog, meal plans start at $2 a day.
Use the link below to get 50% off your first two weeks of food.
Shop at The Farmer’s Dog
Our experience: My dog, Whiskey, is a nearly 8-year-old Boxer-Cocker Spaniel mix. He’s very active, has a short coat, and is one of the world’s pickiest eaters. He’s not motivated by food and will go on hunger strike if he’s feeling upset about something. He’s the kind of dog who will leave some of his regular dry food in his bowl after a meal. We’ve tried several types of dry dog food over the years—grain-free, different types of protein, etc.—and nothing really gets him excited. His favorite treat is unseasoned cooked wild salmon. Did I mention he’s spoiled?
Buying dog food has never been fun. It’s like banking—something on the chore list to check off. Farmer’s Dog has somehow made feeding your dog joyful. The online quiz was simple and I really liked the variety of proteins to try that were customized for Whiskey’s dietary needs and behavior we wanted to address.
What sets them apart:
Packaging! As someone who gets a package delivered multiple times a week, it was a pleasant surprise to find the packaging is eco-friendly. Melting away the cornstarch wrap in the sink was cathartic. Had I not been so excited to get to the food, I would have made an activity out of it for my toddler as a sensory experience. And again, there was joy for the human: “Watch it melt away like your heart when snuggling puppies.” I love a brand with some personality!
The instructions: Easy to follow and it was reassuring to see Whiskey’s name on the individual food packs so I knew it was really customized for him.
What matters most? Whiskey loved it. We started Whiskey on the Turkey recipe at breakfast, and per the instructions, mixed it with his regular dry food. It was like he was eating a full Thanksgiving dinner! He quickly ate his whole breakfast, leaving nothing behind. At dinner, he was prancing by his mat and bowl, eagerly awaiting his next fresh meal. Wow!
Other noteworthy information: As expected and explained by Farmer’s Dog, Whiskey had a few tummy issues adjusting to the new food. We tried the the pork recipe next, which was a was a little too rich for him and gave him some bad gas and mushier poops, but he still gobbled it up.
My initial impression of the box when it arrived was that it felt a little daunting. Keep in mind my point of comparison is dry dog food with a scoop and literally my toddler can (and does!) do it.
Refrigerating, then scooping and fluffing the food, then using the fridge container was a little extra. My husband complained about it, and neither one of us could remember which package to use as we had been taking turns feeding Whiskey.
The used bags got a little stinky in the trash, which was easily remedied by taking out the trash more frequently. I appreciated the simplified instructions for transitioning the food, but would have liked something I could keep with the food (ie: magnet, laminated card, etc.) so it would stand out as extra important. We also realized that the dog bowl we used needed to be washed more frequently, which was another extra thing to keep it sanitary.
Available recipes: Turkey, Beef, Pork
Shop at The Farmer’s Dog
Price: $69 for two bags (a total 6 patties at 1-pound each).
Get 30% off your first delivery with code FRESH30 when you subscribe using the link below.
Shop at GroceryPup
Our experience: Our dogs could not get enough of Grocery Pup. They soon learned just what it meant when one of the packages came out of the fridge, and they gobbled it up—all three flavors were equally loved. Unlike other brands, Grocery Pup cooks their fresh dog food sous vide. This cooking method, popularized in high-end restaurants, is purported to help food retain more taste and nutrients. Grocery Pup puts their AAFCO-balanced foods into BPA-free vacuum-sealed bags and cooks them in a 180-degree water bath. While my dogs don’t know about sous vide, they did seem to notice the extra flavor.
Like the other brands, this healthy dog food comes in frozen packages to your front door. It’s easy to thaw in the fridge overnight and serve the next day, though I found that sometimes I needed to add a little hot water to the food to warm it up. It’s well-frozen!
A medium-sized dog, from 20-40 lbs, receives a single one-pound patty per day. For comparison, a 60-80 lb. dog would receive 2 patties per day.
What sets them apart:
Sous vide method
BPA-free packaging
Easy serving: each bag contains individual one-pound patties
USDA-inspected “human-grade” kitchen and ingredients
Available recipes: Texas Beef Stew (Beef), Turkey Pawella (Turkey), Porky’s Luau (Pork)
Shop at GroceryPup
Price: Based on my 12lb. dog, it costs about $3.10 per day, which is about $95 a month.
Shop at Just Food for Dogs
Our experience: Right off the bat, I was impressed with what I could see through the package. Large chunks of sweet potato, green beans, and russet potatoes, it reminded me of a stew I’d make for a cool fall night.
When the food arrived at my house, it was packaged very well, with the frozen food in a thermal bag and on ice. I also received their Pumpkin Treats, Salmon Bark, Supplements and a can of their DIY Nutrient Blend.
Inside the bags were informational pamphlets, a customized “Transition Guide” for moving from kibble to fresh, and there was also an adorable card with my dog drawn on the inside. The information included was easy to read, informative, and didn’t make me feel overwhelmed about the process or anything.
I thawed the first package and put it in the provided containers, and while my formula was fish, which is primarily cod, there was no fishy odor.
When I first gave Olive a small amount mixed in with her kibble, she seemed a little hesitant, like she knew it was out of the ordinary, and gave me almost a “what did I do to deserve this?!” look. She gave it a few licks, and then ended up eating the fresh food, and spitting the kibble out to be eaten last. I think that was a good sign! Ever since we’ve switched, she’s all in at meal time.
During the transition process, I had a question about my dog’s feeding amount suggestion that they provided. They were quick to respond, and even sent my question to a veterinarian to verify.
I didn’t experience any digestion issues with Olive. With squishy faced dogs, their digestive system can be temperamental, and most people know those breeds can be a bit stinky from gas. Olive didn’t have any gas, and her stool was nice and firm.
What sets them apart:
The veterinary consultation! This is an incredible service offered by the company to fine-tune the optimal diet for your dog. I originally planned to use it for our 17-year-old Dachshund; our Internal Medicine doctor had recommended Just Food for Dogs as an option for her IBS. But, after they reviewed all of our Dachshund’s vet records, ultimately, her medical issues made switching to a non-veterinarian prescribed food difficult, so we decided to have Olive, my Boston Terrier, be the official tester as her diet was less restrictive.
I appreciate that the staff at Just Food For Dogs is willing to work with people whose dogs have specific needs, and you can tell they try their absolute best to help you choose the food that will benefit your dog the most.
I truly felt that the staff was working with me to find a solution that was best for my dog. I never felt they were trying to push me to purchase or trial a subscription. They seemed to have my dog’s happiness and health in mind.
I’ve had dogs for over 10 years and have always fed kibble. I’ve been targeted for all of the ads for fresh food services, but I really appreciated that Just Food For Dogs has a full team of veterinarians, dermatologists, and nutritionists that I didn’t see with any of the other brands. This put me at ease as my dogs have medical concerns, and the brand was specifically recommended to us by our senior Dachshund’s Internal Medicine doctor.

Our experience: The sleeves of dog food arrived completely frozen as promised, and their slim packaging made it easy to fit them in my otherwise crowded freezer. The single-serving packaging made it so I never wondered how much to feed my dog Big Boy—the portion was created just for him (for reference he tested the Turkey & Red Quinoa and Beef & Millet recipes).
Spot & Tango uses whole ingredients in its fresh dog food like turkey, red quinoa, spinach, carrots, peas and apples, among other things. I saw whole peas and pieces of quinoa throughout both recipes.
Having never fed Big Boy fresh dog food before, I wasn’t sure how he’d like it. At first, he was hesitant, giving me side eye about the soft mixture in his bowl. It took a couple packages, but eventually he approached meal time with his typical enthusiasm and did not leave a single stray pea behind.
What sets them apart:
The fresh food was surprisingly not stinky at all
Spot & Tango sends a clip in case you don’t use the whole package
Slim packaging made it easy to fit in the freezer
Cooked in small batches for maximum nutrition
Other noteworthy information: When it comes to fresh dog food delivery, Spot & Tango is a solid option. As someone who typically shops for high-quality kibble, I would perhaps prefer their dry food to the fresh recipes. I am not in the habit of pulling packages out to defrost and prefer to not microwave plastic. The easy-peel packaging wasn’t flawless, and I ended up using scissors to get it open. Spot & Tango said their new packaging solves for this.
Big Boy is now used to the fresh variety, but initially he would leave the whole peas behind. He also manages to get quinoa everywhere, which is now dried to the floor and wall behind his bowl—not ideal. I wonder if he is not digesting it well, too, as his poops contained the full peas. For many reasons, whole peas are the star of this review.

Our experience: Packaging was, again, the key here. Being able to easily place a lid back on the fresh dog food when I didn’t need the whole bowl was convenient but didn’t take up an obnoxious amount of space. I also loved that the insulating liner was made with recycled bottles. They lost points because it was a little challenging to understand exactly how much food to give my pets, even with the feeding guidelines printed on the label.
What sets them apart:
Food comes in compact yogurt-container type bowls with resealable lids—which made it easy to save the rest for later
Feeding guidelines are printed on the label
The insulation was made with recycled bottles and, depending on where you live, was recyclable
Available recipes: Braised Lamb (I could see quinoa in it!), Oven Roasted Turkey (hearty chunks of vegetables), Harvest Chicken, Farmhouse Beef

Our experience: The packaging was compact and had serving sizes on the back of the boxes, and I liked that they used organic ingredients, but it was a bit of a hassle to find a ziplock bag when I didn’t need to use a full portion for a single meal and then try to stuff it back into the cardboard so I didn’t get the meals confused between dogs. Because they focus on organic ingredients, grass-fed meat, and avoid most problematic starches (even potato!) they’re our top choice for dogs with sensitive systems or food allergies.
What sets them apart:
Compact packaging (slim cardboard boxes on the outside, vacuum-sealed plastic on the inside)
Serving size is on the back of the box for convenient referencing
Evermore avoids corn, soy, wheat, potatoes, white rice, and pasta (more of a limited-ingredient option than the others)
They focus on grass-fed meats, organic pasture-raised eggs, organic vegetables, and all-USA ingredients

Other Dog Food Subscription Services to Try
These subscription dog foods are not fresh dog meal kits but more like traditional kibble. The difference is that these companies offer customized meal plans, custom kibble, nutritional toppings, mix-ins, supplements and more, designed in consultation with dog nutritionists and veterinarians, that offer enough quality and variety we felt they were worth highlighting, too. Both of the brands below have never been recalled.
Infinitely Customizable: Hungry Bark
Price: From $13.59 for single bags of protein mix-ins to $199.22 for a four-week trial subscription.
Shop at Hungry Bark
Our experience: There’s a lot to like about Hungry Bark. Signing up for a subscription is easy and takes less than five minutes: Just share some information about your pet—dietary needs, sensitivities, lifestyle, etc.—and a subscription box will be recommended for you. This is great if you’re on the fence about how to start or which box to choose. The two-week taste test ($88.54, includes meal, supplement, and mix-in; 20% off the per-product price) is a simple way to safely gauge whether some version of this subscription is for you.
When my box was delivered and I cracked it open, the ingredients looked fresh and the packaging was appealingly clean. The mix-ins in particular were fragrant but not too stinky. Perhaps most importantly, according to Oso (my Border Collie/Husky taste-tester) who started salivating as soon as I opened the bag, it all was apparently delicious.
Oso preferred the Chicken Mix-In to the Beef Mix-In, and preferred the taste of the Move + Groove Hip + Joint Health Supplement to the Whole Health Multivitamin, but he wound up scarfing everything down. No complaints here.
The packaging is easy to seal and keeps your mix-ins and dry dog food fresh. Mix-in bags are resealable, and supplements are carefully packaged to avoid any contamination.
Only time will tell if the supplements are truly benefiting his overall health. But I can say he’s been perky with no digestive troubles since trialing his Healthy Bark goodies.
What sets them apart:
I dote on my dog, but I’m not likely to hand-prepare a fancy meal for him (unless it’s his birthday). This subscription service struck a nice middle ground between a healthy pet store kibble and the more deluxe gourmet subscription services out there. My dog went wild for the mix-ins and supplements and it didn’t require any preparation on my end.
Unlike other fresh food deliveries, you don’t need to make space in your fridge or freezer. The food and packaging is shelf-stable so you can store it wherever it’s convenient for you.
Ultimately, it costs less that $7 per day for the entire subscription box, and that’s for mix-ins plus kibble plus a supplement to feed your dog this healthy fare. This is a great fit for someone who wants a lightly-personalized and high-quality subscription for their dog, but isn’t ready to sign up for the DIY, super-bespoke, fix-it-on-the-stovetop type meal delivery services.
Available recipes: The “Superfoods” meal formulas include Chicken, Turkey + Brown Rice; Turkey + Duck (Grain-Free); Lamb + Turkey (Grain-Free); and Salmon (Grain-Free). Additional add ons include a variety of supplements and meal mix-ins.

Reliable Quality: Jinx
Price: Bag sizes of 4, 10, and 20 pounds (at $22.50, $40.50, and $67.50 respectively). You can set your subscription to deliver every 3-8 weeks. You can also order the bags of kibble individually, but you save 10% for subscribing.
Shop at Jinx
Our experience: The kibble was packaged in a standard bag and is shelf-stable. I loved opening the box it was delivered in, it had silly phrases like “If only dogs could create unboxing videos,” and the bag of food itself is packaged really well.
The ingredients are very clearly listed on the back, and the side panels contain nutritional information and transitioning guidelines.
The sign-up process was straightforward and quick, though I would have preferred more customization and guidance. The feeding guidelines provided are pretty standard compared to other kibble brands—e.g. your dog weighs 40 pounds so they should have 2.5 cups per day—and I was unsure how this translated into knowing what subscription cadence and size bag to order, or which recipe was best for my dog.
It’s difficult to tell if the food is made from the ingredients claimed (unlike the fresh frozen foods where you can see carrots, quinoa, etc) since it looks like normal kibble, but it seemed fresh and my dog scarfed down the Jinx food with no hesitation, and was excited when he heard the slightest bag crinkle. He didn’t seem to have any digestion issues.
What sets them apart:
Jinx’s food is in a dry kibble form, and looks very similar to my dog’s current food (Taste of the Wild). I personally like this because it makes for much easier storage when I don’t have to worry about keeping it cool.
I like the transparency into Jinx’s development process for their foods on their site, including their manufacturing standards, and how the recipes were formulated with scientists, veterinarians, and canine nutritionists.
Jinx also provided two different treat flavors for Enzo to try, two chicken variations, one with sweet potato and one with mango. They seemed very high quality (my partner commented that they looked “fancy”) and my dog loved them. The mango version is a little smaller, on the site they say great for small dogs, but I liked them as training treats. The sweet potato version is about the size of a fig newton. Full disclosure: I tried both out of curiosity because none of the ingredients freaked me out, and they weren’t bad!
Available recipes: Salmon, Brown Rice and Sweet Potato; Chicken, Sweet Potato and Egg; Chicken, Brown Rice and Avocado

The Review Process
How we tested Spot & Tango, Jinx, Just Food for Dogs, and Hungry Bark
Since originally publishing this article in August of 2018, a handful of new fresh dog food delivery and dog food subscription services came to market. These companies—Spot & Tango, Jinx, Just Food for Dogs, and Hungry Bark—were tested by various (and might we add, eager) Rover dogs in August 2020, as indicated in the individual reviews.
How we tested Ollie and The Farmer’s Dog
We tested Ollie and The Farmer’s Dog twice; first in 2018, when former The Dog People blog editor Irene Keliher tested the first batch of foods on her dogs (both to positive reviews) and again in 2020, on two different Rover dogs. The reviews here reflect the updated 2020 reviews.
How we tested Nom Nom, PetPlate, Grocery Pup, and Evermore
Former The Dog People blog editor Irene Keliher tested these foods on her two dogs, and shares the details below.
I have two dogs—one is 55 pounds and the other is 75 pounds. Both are mixed-breed rescues who have spent their whole lives eating natural brands of dry food. They’ve been on the same brand for the last three years or so, mostly because I’ve been too lazy to update our online subscription.
I recently had my pups try six different brands of fresh dog food and all the recipes they had to offer. Yes, my dogs were in heaven. Every brand had pros and cons, though my dogs had zero complaints about any of them, leaving me to do the hard work of choosing the top contenders.
In order to assess them, I kept notes on the brand’s packaging (everything from how easy it was to store to whether it was friendly to the planet), recipe choices, and the ease of the whole process. Because the brands were generous—and I’d signed up for them all at once—I was surprised at just how quickly my refrigerator and freezer filled up with dog food. I ended up pawning off some of the extras to my neighbors and Rover headquarters so that I could squeeze a couple of meals worth of my own human food in the fridge, too.
I also intended to keep track of which fresh dog food my dogs preferred, but they all seemed pretty equal in the eyes of my little piggies. Instead, you’ll see I made note of when the food seemed especially fresh or had interesting ingredients. PetPlate, for example, had a ton of quinoa in one of their recipes.
Since I was reviewing so many brands—and doing it over the course of just a couple of weeks—I didn’t try to track any changes in my dogs’ health, or test the nutrition claims some of the brands make. I can tell you that my dogs had some very healthy poops.
A Note on Pricing
You’re probably thinking, “sounds good, but how much does this cost?” The answer is: it varies.
The price ranges here were provided by the companies, but you can get your own personalized price by filling in your dog’s information on their sites. Costs vary based on your dog’s caloric needs (a four-pound dog eats a lot less than my 75 pound dog, obviously) and recipe selection. It also depends on whether you feed entirely fresh food or use these recipes to supplement your pet’s diet.
With some digging, we found that for a 15-lb. dog of normal activity level, average prices for a full fresh food diet ranged from $25/week to $33/week. For a 25-lb. dog of normal activity level, prices jump to anywhere from $34/week to $42/week. Again, it will vary based on your individual dog and preferences, so it’s worth going through a quick online quote to find out whether this fits in your budget.
Before Trying Fresh Dog Food
These super-healthy foods are better than most commercial pet foods, but any time you change your dog’s diet, it’s a good idea to go slowly. Transition them to the new food a little at a time. Be sure to talk to your vet, who can help guide you on any special needs your pet might have on a new diet.
A couple of other important considerations:
Fresh dog food usually needs refrigeration—make sure you have adequate space to hold a week’s worth of food in your fridge or freezer.
Consider whether you’re intending to feed your dog an entirely fresh-food diet, or just supplement their traditional food, which will determine what plan you sign up for and how frequently you need food delivered.

Available recipes: Turkey & Red Quinoa, Beef & Millet, Lamb & Brown Rice

Awesome for Allergies: Evermore
Price: $14 to $300 per week.
Evermore subscriptions come in a variety of sizes so that you can choose to feed it exclusively, or use as a meal supplement. Learn more through the link below.

Woman-owned small business
Available recipes: Lamb, Chicken, Turkey, Beef

♡ + Mutt
headcanons || accepting || @satinflcwers
Why has it never occurred to me to write a meta on this precious boy before?! Okay I’m literally so pumped for this I can’t even tell you.
Mutt started making appearances in Winter Town when Myriam was fifteen. He just sort of was a stray that appeared out of nowhere, someone paid him a bit of attention and gave him some scraps and he just sort of kept terrorising everyone else because of it.
He and Myriam got off to a bad start. So Myriam would do a fair bit of cooking in the brothel during the day, especially the earlier morning, so spends some time in the kitchens. Mutt was very talented at getting into the kitchens unnoticed at first, but was caught in the food stores a few times by Myrie who threw things at him and chased him out. I mean, food isn’t something they really want to waste on strays given that they have just about enough to feed themselves. So yeah, they started off badly which is why he’s called “mutt”. It was something she shouted at him when telling him to get out, and it sort of stuck.
No amount of chasing or yelling deterred him though, and Myriam ended up admiring his determination. He sort of crept up to her one day she was sitting outside the brothel, hoping to catch the interest of some passers by, and she gave in and give him a bit of a pet. She noticed how thin he was and that he had fleas ( which promptly made her jump away because NIGHTMARE ), so she gave him some more food and eventually scrubbed him up a bit and used an old brush of hers to try and clean him up a bit. Ever since these acts of kindness, Mutt considers himself to be Myriam’s.
When Myriam is out and about, it’s very rare to see her without Mutt. He usually follows her while she does her chores, and while a fairly placid dog, he gives her a degree of security.
Mutt isn’t overly big. He’s sort of halfway between the size of a labrador and a spaniel I guess? And obviously he’s a mongrel, though it’s clear he has more than a bit of terrier in him. He isn’t overly that threatening to look at, therefore, but he has a temper when need be and he is quite protective of Myriam. He can sense when she’s distressed and that’s when he’ll start baring the teeth.
He stays in the brothel with her during the evenings. If she has company he sleeps in the front house, but if she’s alone he sleeps in her room. He’s allowed to sleep at the foot of her bed sometimes, but mostly he curls up on a small rug she has. She’s conscious about any beasties he might bring into her room in his fur and doesn’t want to lose custom over it, so he’s very rarely allowed on the bed for a whole night.
I really can’t think of anyone that Myriam is more protective over than Mutt. She just sees him as such an innocent and purity, and all the love that she has to give is basically poured out to him, seeing as she doesn’t really have anyone else to give it to. I’m really not exaggerating when I say that she would do anything for him. If someone hurt him, she would confront them in a hostile manner, and probably would only hesitate momentarily if it was the likes of Ramsay or Euron - anyone else she wouldn’t give a damn, she would definitely square up. He is without a doubt her best friend and dearest companion and I do believe she would go out of her mind if she was living her life without him. He brings her such joy.
I actually have a small headcanon that she would be pretty uptight once the direwolves came to Winterfell and grew up a bit, because Mutt would want to play with them but she’d worry that he’d get hurt because they grow so fast and get so big, and I would love her to confront/discuss this with one of the stark kids!
