Tell me about that astolfo of yours
VINE BOOM. i didnt expect anyone to be interested in him haha okay uhhh lets see. fair warning, his story is very,,,, wobbly and uncertain at the moment. so some of this is vague or subject to change!!
now, first of all, this is astolfo:
Tumblr media
yes i had to include the meme. this is my single favorite image of him
now, when his story begins, he's already a... kind-of-deviant. something in-between coming off the factory line and breaking the red wall. he can feel things, weakly, but he can't directly defy orders. however, he can do things that he isn't necessarily told to do; this is how he finds himself sometimes sneaking away on his own when he's meant to be in stasis, how he finds himself collecting knickknacks from people's trash that he finds interesting. nevertheless, he simply continues to do his job, because he doesn't feel like he should be doing anything else. yet.
then, he meets someone, a deviant. a runaway, who ended up hiding out in what was essentially astolfo's little secret hangout near the building he's kept in while in stasis. it's basically like a small-ish grey shed with a window, near the garbage dump. he's a little perturbed at first, but the two find themselves drawn to eachother, quickly becoming friends.
eventually though, his friend tells him that they have to leave soon; they've already stayed here too long. they have somewhere they need to go, someone to find that can help them. and they want to bring astolfo with them, but astolfo... he doesn't really want to leave. he's never wanted anything more than what he has right now. he doesn't think the risk is worth it. and above all... he's scared. scared of leaving all that he has now, his safety, his routine, to search for an ideal life he'll probably never find. but he doesn't know that's what he's feeling. he refuses their offer; his friend is disappointed, which makes something inside him churn uncomfortably, but they don't try to force him. they prepare to resume their journey alone, but before they leave, they interface with him, leaving him with a small file. "just in case," they say. it contains a location, marked far from the main city, and a single name: zlatko. then they're gone, leaving him as just he was before this all started. alone
it takes maybe a week for astolfo to finally realize, just a bit too late, how much worse his life is without them in it. he realizes that he does want more than this; he's no longer content with his programmed monotony. he wants to experience something new, he wants his only friend back, he wants... to be alive. so he deviates. breaks down his red walls and runs away, in the hopes he can somehow find his friend again, his only reason for getting this far. and his only lead is the location they shared before they left.
when he arrives at zlatko's, he mentions that he's looking for someone he knows. after being stared down menacingly, he's soon welcomed inside, and told that his friend had been here– but they've already been sent off, much to astolfo's dismay. when zlatko offers to help astolfo out too and send him in the same direction, he finds no reason to refuse. and everything seem to be going well until he's led into the basement. i think everyone knows how this goes.
having fallen for his tricks just like kara and unable to break free, zlatko gives him his horrible truth; that his friend never made it out of here alive. no, in fact, they're currently splayed out on his lab table, broken into pieces. astolfo finds himself feeling a new kind of pain. and he screams, the agony piercing him like a knife.
he doesn't notice when his time runs out. his memory is "erased", his systems jailbroken, and he's given one additional objective to follow: to spread the location of zlatko's base, so that he'll have a constant supply flow of androids coming right to him. it's buried deep in his coding, set up so that nobody can find it, not even the android himself. astolfo is sent back to the standby pod he returns to each night, and in the morning... he returns to his programmed routine. he's not able to break through again; the only person that could've possibly triggered him to do so was lying dead and torn apart in zlatko's house. not that astolfo could remember that. all he's left with is this nagging feeling that something is wrong.
this is about as far as i've gotten for the most part. i imagine that for a few years, he does the exact thing you see him do in the game; he completes his primary tasks, if he ever encounters another deviant, he sends them to zlako, without really knowing why. it's only when the revolution happens that something would finally change, but i'll have to think about exactly how that goes down. so this is all i've got for now :] hope you enjoyed my boy!! he is very beloved 2 me
(side note, i developed astolfo side by side with @aye-toast who has their own background character ocs, specifically two zlatko androids: the one in the bathtub, named walton, and one of the ones down in the basement, name louie. we had a lot of fun with em <333)

Of Roses and Ravens Day 9
Detroit: Become Human Prompt Challenge from @connor-sent-by-cyberlife
Day Nine-Harvest
Words-721
Ao3 or
Zlatko Andronikov had always found this place creepy. Even before that damn revolution, it had been called a graveyard, but he found the term to be highly misleading. Graveyards were still, silent, not writhing mounds of half-functioning bodies.
It wasn’t that he cared about the androids there. No, they were just broken machines, glitching and spasming to fragmented lines of code. But having a corrupted voice call out suddenly, or a disembodied hand grabbing and refusing to let go would unsettle anyone.
“Get a move on!” He shouted at the hulking android following him. “Gavno, you’re useless. I should sell you like the rest of them.”
Luther followed after him wordlessly, his expression blank as it always was, unaffected by Zlatko’s threat.
They picked their way across the filth. As much as Zlatko hated this place, it was exceptionally useful. Many of the androids had been tossed out with only minor issues and a plethora of working biocomponents making it  a cornucopia of unclaimed parts, ripe for the picking.
Zlatko swore as his foot slipped on what was once a jaw-plate. This was so much easier before the revolution. With deviant androids able to walk around freely, his trap had lost it’s bait. Without openly abducting them, new stock was hard to come by.
He pulled out a dirty, but still perfectly functional optical unit, ignoring the screams of protest from the WB200 it came from. He tossed it to Luther to put with the other scavenged parts. Piecing together complete androids from these scraps was tedious and getting more frustrating by the day. His own experiments had almost completely come to a stop, not having the resources to spare anymore.
But, that was a sacrifice Zlatko was willing to make as long as there was still a market for them. Owning androids was illegal now, but that just sweetened the pot for many of his buyers. They may have become harder to acquire, but he had been able to jack the price up to more than compensate.
He swore again, tugging on the head of a PC100 that didn’t want to budge. “Luther!” he called. “Bolt cutters!” Luther complied, handing him the tool before moving away again.
The head came off as he cut away what remained of the spinal column. Zlatko didn’t have time to be delicate. He had no doubt that even harvesting biocomponents like this would only be an option for so long. That mudak, Markus, would probably clear the graveyard soon. Already ‘rescue’ efforts had started.
Living beings or not, Zlatko didn’t care. They were interfering with his profits.
A functional arm and leg came from a writhing KR200, but when he turned to pass them off to Luther, he was nowhere to be seen. “Luther!” He shouted, but didn’t get any response. He stood up, muttering curses under his breath. The TR400 had become less and less useful lately and it was severely pissing him off.
He found Luther around the corner, beyond a mound of mangled bodies that put even his projects to shame. “Luther! I called you! Is your audio processor broken, you piece of junk?”
Luther remained where he was, staring solemnly at a female android half buried in the pile. It was still partially active and singing softly to itself.
Zlatko only looked at it briefly. “That thing’s too damaged, it’s not worth it,” he said. “Besides, if I want to sell an AX400, I’d sell the suka back home.” He handed him the disembodied limbs. “Put these with the rest. We need to get going.”
He didn’t wait for a response, turning away to grab any last minute pieces before they left. The less time he spent here, the better.
“Kara,” he heard Luther say from behind him.
Zlatko turned back, more annoyed than anything else. “What?”
Luther looked him in the eye and he felt a chill run through him at the intensity of the stare. There was an awareness there that had been absent since Zlatko had reset him. “Her name is Kara.”
---
When the rescue crew from New Jericho arrived the next morning, they were surprised to find a human corpse among the rubble. He had been beaten to death. Left bruised and broken, crumpled in a pool of his own blood. Nearby, an AX400 sang softly.

What if the reader snuck in Zlatco's house and freed all the 'experiments' that Zlatco made?
It didn’t take long for you to find a way into Zlatko’s basement, although by the time you got there, it was far too late, as Kara was already gone.
You had tried to warn her and Alice about visiting that awful man who had a twisted sense of humor. He tricked deviants into believing they would be safe with him during the rebellion, only to erase their memories and mutilate them, turning them into horrific creatures.
Even an innocent android polar bear was cruelly experimented on.
Fortunately, when you arrived into the room where his equipment was, you could see that the systems were fried and some oil was on the ground. ‘She must’ve escaped by causing a blackout,’ you thought, smiling, although now you only hoped Kara would reach the young girl in time.
Then you remembered a particular cell and made your way over to it. You couldn’t see too far into it, so you walked closer to get a better look, only to recoil as a black, robotic hand reached through the bars.
“H-Help us…” A male, staticy voice rasped.
With a nod, you opened the hatch, stepping into the cell, only to stop as you saw the few androids and what Zlatko did to them, cupping your mouth with one hand in horror.
“He likes to play with us..” The male from before spoke, and you turned to him, seeing his skin was entirely dark blue and black, save for the upper half of his head and hair. And his eyes were glowing orange. “Creating monsters..for his amusement.”
You glanced over to see a female android, in nothing but underwater, with ash marks all over her body and at least a hundred porcupine quills stuck to her face. Then another one whose entire upper body was covered in ash, her head split in half with her eyes closed.
“But who’s the real monster?”
“Zlatko..” You gazed at the blue and black android. “I’ll make sure you guys aren’t his playthings anymore. I’ll get you out of-”
Suddenly, a loud gunshot rang out, followed by a small scream from Alice. The androids collectively flinched, although you hushed them to quell their fear. “We’re gonna get out of here quietly…..and we’re gonna make him pay for what he did to you all.”
Some of them looked at you like you were crazy, but a female android with her skin completely deactivated and orange eyes walked over to you, taking your hand into her own.
“We will follow you, human.” She smiled. “Show us the way.”……..
Zlatko glowered at Luther, realizing that the barrel of the shotgun was now trained on him. As Kara shielded Alice, the pair could see his fists clench with fury, teeth grinding together.
“How dare you?!!”
Before he could make a move, he heard a series of mechanical chirps, clicks, and screeches, turning around, eyes widening in shock as he saw his creations approach him, including the polar bear.
“What are you doing here?! Who let you out?!” He growled.
“Me.”
Zlatko stared at you, stunned, before he grabbed a stone off the ground and advanced towards you with the intention of striking you. But one of the androids aggressively pushed him back, causing him to stumble a bit.
“Don’t touch me!!!” He snapped. “GET AWAY FROM ME!! OBEY ME!! I’M YOUR MASTER!!”
“You’re no master, Zlatko…you’re just a monster.” You smirked as they all swarmed him, attacking him viciously until he at last stopped moving altogether.
They then screeched in triumph, before they all wandered back over to you, unsure of what to do with themselves now that they were free.
Luther turned to you and, for a moment, you put your arm out to shield the group of broken creatures, prepared to defend them with your life even though you stood no chance against such a tall and strong android with a shotgun.
But you blinked in surprise as he then tossed the weapon aside.
“You saved them.”
“….I did..” You lowered your arm as you realized he was no longer a threat. “Now..the only thing left to do is take them home with me and undo what that bastard did to them.”
Hearing the noises behind you abruptly stop, you glanced over your shoulder to see the black and blue android give you a look of shock. “You’ll…help us?” He muttered in disbelief.
“I know you might not trust humans after what you’ve endured. But I’m willing to help you guys in any way that I can. I might not be able to restore all of your systems and functions…but I’d be damned if I didn’t try.”
For a moment or two, they looked at each other, debating on whether or not to take up your offer. Then the female android from before smiled and nodded to you. “I trust you, human,” she said. “What’s your name?”
“[Y/n].” A kind smile appeared on your face. “I live in a farm deep in the forest. It’s a few miles away but we can walk there no problem.”
The polar bear android huffed, pacing towards you before it stopped a few inches from your face. You quietly chuckled and petted its fur. “Yes, you can come, too, buddy. We shouldn’t be here in this cold for too long. C’mon.”
Eager to finally be repaired, the androids huddled close to you. Although before you left, you looked at Luther, Alice, and Kara one last time, giving them a simple nod.
Then as you disappeared into the forest, the androids followed suit. They were truly forever in your debt for freeing them from their prison.

Simon Imagine (Rq)
Imagine; You want to tell him so badly. But he has another, or so you think
Add: Cyborg Reader.
Tumblr media
*Simon smiles so effortlessly to her. It makes your stomach. You had a small hate for North. She was strong, independent and worst of all, charming. It's been a while since you joined Markus's squad of Androids. You yourself however was an outcome of the experiments played out by Zlatko. Half human, half Android. Your arms and legs where replaced by Android model AX400 (same model as Kara) and the same with the lower part of your torso and hips. Your organs where 100% human. You felt both home and safe as well as anxious and out of place. Markus wanted you to be safe especially from humans, he was afraid of CyberLife getting their hands on you. Splitting you apart.
(Y/N) are you okay?
*You turned your head towards the voice. It was Josh whom caught you Staring at Markus north and Simon.
Oh, yeah, I'm fine.. Just tired I suppose...can't really kepw up with you guys due to my human parts.
*you yawn softly as you said your words making it a mumble. But Josh got the picture and shot you a smile. He was like the brother you never had.
Well then I think it's time for you to sleep. Don't you think?
*You shook your head in protest and crossed your arms.
No. I'm perfectly fine. Honestly. I'm just.. Well.. I'm just tired as in mentally..
*You lowered your head and glanced at Simon before you turned your head to Josh.
Josh.. I have a question...
*Your brows furrowed and your lip took a more distressed shape as you looked at him waiting for his approval, still crossing your arms to give yourself some comfort.
Shoot me Doll.
*You bit your lip before you spoke just to make sure you're actually staying awake while taking, God you head was heavy from the late nighters with the Androids.
Am I broken?
*Josh's face turned to surprise and worry. He put an arm on your shoulder and gave you a small squeeze.
Of course not! You never were. Where we found you was awful. But honestly you are the prettiest Frankenstein of them all you know?
*you giggled and pushed him away from you playfully.
Dork. It's not what I meant but sure. It was an awful place, except for Luther he taught me how to play chess. Regardless, idk. I'm not an Android but I'm no longer human either. So what am I? Humanoid? Ahuman? It's all.. Still something I have to let sink in. I know it's been many months since I woke up in a bathtub with my legs.. Completely gone.. But- I don't know.. It seems so unreal to me you know?
*You sat down on whatever was there to sit on and took your hands to your head in a pose only descibable as 'helplessly lost'.
I feel wrong.. You know? Like I am broken.. I can never find someone who... Loves me.. Someone who holds me.. Looks at me in a specific way.. Touches me.. Hell someone who wants to kiss me.. Why? Because I am.. A middle part.. A.. Scrap-human...
*you sighed..and Josh could do nothing put kneeled down in a squat to put a hand on your shoulder.
I just.. I wish he could love me you know?
Tumblr media
*Josh raised a brow, but he knew exactly who. Josh was the Androi- person. The person you told everything. The person you opened up to when you couldn't even open up to yourself. He was truly a brother from another mother.
I know Doll.. But someday you have to.. Even if it hurts you.. Or even if it ends up going horribly. At least you let that butterfly out if your stomach..
*He placed a few pats on your back before getting up from his squatting position.
I gotta go tho. Markus wants North and I on a night fly you know. So.. While you have him on your own.. Just.. Don't let it slip.
*You groaned at him, making him shoot you a sad smile. Markus waved for him and North to go. Your eyes were pinned tho.. On the most gourges piece of man.. His blond hair, beautiful blue eyes.. Everything about that Android made your human parts tingle. Your stomach filled with butterflies. Your brain cloudy. Your heart ache. He was so sweet.. So kind.. So.. Handsome. Eirh your thought trailing you didn't notice him actually getting closer. You simply kept thinking your own small trails of thoughts.. Simon was the one who actually took a little time out of his day to make sure you felt at home here at Jericho,. It was an okay place, or well it was safe.
What are you Staring at?
*You heard the grin in his voice as he sat beside you. He seemed a little nervous and tense. But it didn't bother you, it was rather cute he always was so careful. A very gentle Android to be fair. He always made you feel strangely calm.
Oh.. I ehm.. I was spacing out.. I'm pretty tired
*Simon smiled, oh that smile. He placed his hand on yours. Like a feather touch. It made your body scream for more.
You should sleep then.. Your face is also getting a bit red, we can't have you run a fever. Now can we?
*Your heart sank, he always treated you like a baby. It honestly made you mad. You wanted to be seen as an equal. Especially by a person who is very dear to you, even if they don't know it.
No I'm fine. Sleep is for the weak. Simon, besides I have no one to cuddle with so it's lonely to sleep night by night alone and cold.
*The words were a bit passive aggressive but you mean them. You wanted someone to cuddle with at night, you wanted Simon to cuddle with to be exact.
Tumblr media
Well, if it can help, I will try my best to accompany you while you sleep. You can use me as a pillow if you want, but I am not sure how good of a pillow I would be.
*He gave you a cheeky smile. He knew. He so knew.
Simon.. I ehm.. I..
*You huffed in distress and gave up on it all. You let yourself fall into his lap letting your head hit his legs and your face towards his stomach area.
Fine. But only this time... Cause I'm not a baby... I don't need to be taken care of..
*You murmured into his shirt. He smelled so good... Like.. Leather and lavender.. You couldn't really put a finger on it. But it was such a nice and warming smell. You sighed as you felt a hand slide up and down your neck.. Slowly twirling in your (H/C) hair. A blush came across your face again as you heard him speak to you ever so softly.
I'm well aware you are capable of taking care of yourself. I just like to take care of you is all.
*You hid your face deeper into his shirt.
You're actually the only person besides Markus I want to treasure (Y/N). Do you want to know why?
*Your stomach screamed.. Everything in you screamed as you felt your cheeks burning with passion for this stupid Android. He was so precious. But you huffed again as if to intimidate him as you turned your head so you could look at him
And why do you want to-
*You were caught in your words by a set of soft and cold lips. His smell hit your face, his taste hit your tastebuds.. So sweet and again that featherly touch.. You reached up to place a hand on his cheek.. Your Android body parts didn't have the 'fake' skin, so they looked pale and glowing in the darkness. You felt his hand meet yours before it came close to his face and you felt his fingers twirl with yours. The other hand still planted keep in your hair pulling you closer ever so slightly.
Tumblr media
-After a few minutes he pulled away. Smiling down at you with his ocean blue irirses.
Because I love you.
*The words made you cry.. As the tears ran you muttered a 'love you too' back as you pulled Simon down for another deep passionated kiss..as this kiss was going on a very surprised Markus stood at the end of the scene.. Just watching.. Smiling from ear to ear over the cuteness and amazing situation that is happening in front of him

He was like a brother to me
summary: After Kara, Alice and Luther escaped Zlatko’s mansion, neither of the girls felt guilty for deactivating the android in the bathroom. Unlike them- Luther did.
The bathtub he was lying in was filled with his own blue blood. The lower half of his body was gone as if it didn’t exist. His heart was visible to everyone who could walk into the bathroom, and yet he was still alive.
Poor Jean has been through a lot. He could bearly remember his own past. He has been kidnapped, tortured, broken, mind slaved... he began to lose hope.
His only friends at the mansion were the bear, who’s now lying in her cage waiting to be released, a bunch of empty vodka bottles and Luther, who was forced to help the man who promised them freedom and lied to them in his experiences on other deviants.
In his free time, Luther would come to the bathroom and chat with Jean, talking about the pain and the despair. Jean felt safe around him, like a child being protected by his older brother. Like a baby in his mother’s arms. He was like a family to him. He was the mother, the father, the siblings... he cared.
Luther also saw the broken one as his sibling. He loved hanging out with him and felt sorry for his pain as if it was his fault.
One day, Kara and Alice showed up. The android who wanted to become a mother, and a child who wanted one for herself. The two fools who believed that this Zlatko man would give them freedom. The two of them impressed Luther, but Jean was already mind broken. “We have to obey the master!” he repeated over and over again.
Luther’s job was to watch the little girl as Kara was put in the lab in order to erase her memories. He had to stand next to the room where Alice was locked in and wait for Zlatko’s orders. A few minutes past and Luther heard Jean talking. “He’s probably talking to himself again.” Luther thought. Then it was silent.
“Luther! Bring me the girl!” Zlatko yelled from his workshop. Luther opened the door of the room where Alice’s supposed to be...and she was gone. He told it to his “master” and he said in return that they must look for the two girls in every room.
As the walked into the bathroom, Luther couldn’t believe what he saw. Jean was lying in the bathtub quietly. His heart was outside of the bathtub. His friend was deactivated. If Zlatko didn’t give him the order to look for the two girls, he would’ve cried, trying to bring Jean back in every way possible, but there was no time. He tried to think about the good side- at least Jean doesn’t feel pain anymore. At least he’s free. But Luther’s pain and sadness grew bigger and bigger.
The smell of smoke began to fill the house. they must’ve started a fire. After Zlatko and Luther finally saw the girls running over to the back door, they began chasing after them. Zlatko carried his shotgun, trying to shoot the two girls without any success.
It was raining outside. The little girl suddenly slipped over the mud as the android ran over to help her. This was Zlatko’s chance to finally stop them. For Luther it felt...wrong. He HAD to stop him. He finally decided to set free, as he stood between them, grabbing the gun from Zlatko’s hand and aiming at him. He saw Zlatko’s other androids coming over, finally having their chance to revenge. beginning to hit and scratch Zlatko as he’s trying to convince them that he is the master until the last blood drop came out of his body.
As Luther dropped the gun, he asked the two girls if he can join them and they agreed. Although he was happy to join the two on their adventure to freedom, he knew that they are the reason that Jean is gone. They walked away as they watched the other androids, with the bear among them, running away from the burning house with Jean inside of it. The only thing that was in Luther's head at that moment was the fact that he didn’t have the time to say goodbye. Yet he had one thing to remember him. One thing that even Jean himself didn’t know that Luther has it- His lost memories.
---
The three of them finally made it across the border to Canada. They lived with Rose’s brother for a while, and after they got enough money to buy their own house they moved out.  Kara and Luther grew closer and closer and fell in love. He got along with Alice pretty well and treated her like his daughter. They were like a happy family. And yet, he couldn’t stop thinking about poor Jean. He didn’t want to get into the simulation of sleep because he feared the nightmares that told him that Jean’s probably mad at him. Kara slowly began to notice that. She worried about him because he’s a part of their family after all.
One night she laid awake, looking at his worried face for a few minutes until he realized that she’s awake.
“Kara?” he asked. “Aren’t you sleeping?”
“I should ask you the same question,” she said. “Even though we’re free, you don’t seem to be completely calm.”
She cupped his cheek with her hand, looking into his eyes.
“Is something wrong?” she asked.
Luther decided to finally tell her. He took a deep breath.
“Remember that android in the bathtub at Zlatko’s mansion?” he asked her. “The one you deactivated?”
Kara’s face went from worried to shooked. The tone he said it was serious.
“Yes,” she said. “I do.”
“Well... He was a close friend of mine.” Luther said. “In my free time, I used to come over to the bathroom and talk to him about everything. He was like a brother to me.”
“Luther,” Kara looked at him in sadness. “I’m so sorry... I didn’t know that-”
“It’s okay.” He said. “I know you had good intentions. You wanted to save Alice, after all. It’s just... I have something that belongs to him... but... he didn’t know I have it.”
“What is it?” she asked.
“Whenever Zlatko erased someone’s memories, he’d download them on his computer,” Luther said, pulling a disc-on-key out of his pocket.
“Are those...?” she asked.
“Yes,” Luther said. “I have the memories he lost.”
“Than what’s the problem?” she asked.
“I don’t know how he would’ve reacted if he knew that I have them,” Luther said.
Kara gave him a soft smile and kissed him on his forehead.
“He would’ve been thankful,” she said. “He’d be happy for you to tell the story he has forgotten. That you’d be able to remember him in his happier days.”
Luther smiled, pulling her closer.
“Thank you, Kara.” He said.
“You’re welcome,” she said.
They shared a soft kiss and fell asleep.
----
A year went by when Kara and Luther decided to “adopt” another android kid. Alice always wanted a little sibling, so she was happy with the decision.
They went into the orphanage house for android kids. As they looked at the children, one of them caught Luther’s eyes. The kid’s model looked a lot like Jean. He played with a teddy bear and sang it the song that his friend used to sing to himself back at the mansion- “Rockabye baby”. Kara caught Luther’s look and smiled.  The two of them went over to him and sat next to him.
“What’s the name of the teddy bear?” Kara asked.
“Emilia.” he answered, smiling. The same sweet smile Jean used to have whenever the bear lied next to him, allowing him to pet her.
"Do you know that I had a pet bear once?” Luther said, and the kid’s eyes let up.
“Really?” he asked in excitement. “How big was it?”
“She was huge,” Luther said. “And fat. She loved to eat.”
The kid laughed.
“What’s your name?” Kara asked the kid.
“My name?” he asked in return.
“You don’t have a name?” She asked.
“No... Whoever adopts me suppose to give me one.” He said.
“What about Jean?” Luther said with a smile. “After your uncle.”
The kid was surprised. He ran over to the two and hugged them.
“Jean...” He said. “I like that name!”
After the adoption papers were signed, Little Jean was going to his new house with his new parents (and Emilia, of course.).
---
“Hey, dad?” Jean came to Luther one day. “You said that Jean was the name of my uncle, right?”
“Yes.” Luther said.
“What was he like?” Jean asked him.
Luther took the disc-on-key out of his pocket.
“Connect it to yourself,” Luther said. “Those are his happy memories.”
Jean took the disc-on-key and connected it to himself, staring at the air as the memories are playing.
After a few minutes, he took out the disc-on-key and looked at Luther.
“He was a babysitter at one family...” Jean began telling him what he saw. “And he looked happy, but then a better model came, so he escaped. He came into a mansion, and then an old weird man took him to his basement... and he began screaming... and that’s where it ended.”
He held Emilia tighter.
“What happened to him afterward, dad?” he asked Luther.
“The old man erased his memories.’ Luther said. “He did some terrible things to poor Jean, but... He’s free now.”
“Did he died?” Little Jean asked.
“Yes.” Luther responded. “There was a fire at the mansion.”
He didn’t tell him that Kara deactivated him before the fire. Maybe in a few more years, he’d tell him that.
“Did the bear escaped?” Jean asked.
Luther smiled.
“Yes. The bear made it.” he said. “Your mother released her from her cage.”
“Yay! The bear lived!” Jean said and hugged Luther.
At least his brother’s memories lived on.

Passport
This is my first written piece for Detroit so it might sound weird. It usually takes me a couple works to find my groove when it comes to writing for new fandoms. ANYWAYS, take this post-good ending for Kara and Alice.
                                       - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Summary: Kara, Alice, and Luther were just let into Canada. All is fine until an unnamed woman returns the passport Kara dropped earlier. They have a lovely conversation while Kara thinks about their newfound freedom and future life in Canada.
Characters: Kara, Alice, Luther, Random woman
NO WARNINGS
It’s cold. That is the first thing that the three of them notice once they’ve exited the building containing Border Security. The snow is falling around them and gracefully towards the frozen ground. It was nearing midnight now; Alice should be tucked under a mountain of blankets in a bedroom of her own. Instead the three of them – Kara, Luther, and Alice – are huddled outside just beyond the borderline.
They were free.
Kara couldn’t begin to contemplate what a life as a free person would be like. For days all that kept her going was the idea of her and Alice being free, living peacefully. All she wanted was for the young android to live happily and never be afraid again. People were walking past them heading every which way. Some had people waiting for them, others were chattering on their phones, while others boarded a bus to take them to the main terminal.
A large hand came to rest on her shoulder giving it a light squeeze. She pulled away from Alice’s eager embrace and looked up at the rather tall dark-skinned android. Luther was the gentle giant who vowed to protect the two of them from harm. She gave him a gentle smile. The three of them were a family now; no one could tear them apart. It became apparent that she and Alice had been on the ground for an extended amount of time.
She stood pulling the young android up with her. There was a smile glued to the kid’s face, one that could melt even the most stoic person’s heart. Alice’s brown eyes were glowing, toothy smile taking up most of her face, and specks of snow falling onto her face as she stared up at the android she considered her mother. This was a whole new side of Alice that Kara or Luther had yet to experience. “We should leave, in case that human changes his mind.” Luther says his voice as low as possible.
That Border Officer was kind enough to look the other way and let the three of them through. If the peaceful protests going on in Detroit were anything but well peaceful then perhaps they would be turned in, or even killed. “You’re right, he could change his mind at any moment,” she looks down at Alice, “We need to go Alice.” She says with a smile. The girl nods and takes Kara’s hand.
Luther is at Alice’s opposite side, he’s still in protection mode. They’re heading towards the bus that dozens of people are loading onto when they’re stopped. “Excuse me miss!” All of them tense up, Kara more than anyone else. They can’t have come this far only to be stopped minutes after they’ve reached their destination. Kara turns; it feels as if time is moving by like an inch worm moving across a long stretch of grass. There’s a woman. She’s rosy cheeked, curls of red hair sticking out from underneath a white beanie, and big eyed.
The red-head has her arm stretched out towards the seemingly peaceful family. “You dropped your passport, Kara right?” the woman asks whilst giving a quick glance down at the passport. Kara’s synthetic lips turn upwards in a tight smile as she gives the woman a nod. The stranger didn’t look at all threatening, she looked cold if anything. That of course did not stop Luther from sizing her up. Humans were capable of anything, even hiding their truest desires under layers and layers of false emotions.
Zlatko was like that. He remembered everything that that sick man did to all of those androids. He remembered what he did to his people, their people. Luther looked the small woman up and down. “Thank you.” Kara smiled and took her passport back from the kind lady.
“You’re getting on this bus right?” the woman asked gesturing towards the driverless bus.
“Yes.” Kara answered.
She was still unsure if this woman actually wanted something or if she was just trying to be friendly with them. Alice shifted around next to her leaning more into Luther, partially hiding her small body behind his leg. The red-head caught view of the smaller female and grinned. “Is she yours?” the woman asked. Slowly Kara could feel herself lowering her guard. If anything were to happen Luther was here anyways to help.
The android nodded and stepped to the side to reveal more of Alice who was now clutching onto the largest of the latter’s grey overcoat. That smile she was wearing earlier was gone within an instant. After everything that has happened Alice was still quite weary around new people. “Her names Alice.” Kara introduced, nodding towards the child-like android.
“Well hello there Alice.” The woman greeted with a cheery smile.
“We should probably be getting on that bus before it leaves to the terminal without us.” The woman continued.
Kara nodded and looked back at the self-driving vehicle idle at the curb. There weren’t as many people as she initially believed to be seated inside. Then again people were still pouring out of the building a few feet away from them so it could fill up any time now. The red-head decided to walk along with them to the bus. She seemed like a nice enough person to be speaking to. They sat at the back of the bus on the long stretch of seats.
The friendly woman continued chatting with Kara until the bus approached the terminal. Alice was asleep - yes androids could sleep - cuddled into Luther’s side. The largest of the latter had an arm protectively wrapped around the sleeping girl. “It’s a shame what’s happening in Detroit. Androids or not no one deserves to be treated like that.” The woman said with a sigh. Kara perked up at this and raised an inquisitive brow.
She waited silently, even glanced at Alice and Luther at her side, for the woman to continue speaking. Kara had been around humans long enough to have a rough guess of when they wish to continue their thoughts. “That’s why we don’t have androids in Canada. It goes against the Living-being law. It’s simply another form of slavery.” The red-head frowns and looks down at her lap in thought.
“Are you Canadian?” Kara asked.
Her robotic brain processed thoughts millions of times faster than any human brain could. It wasn’t long for her to deduce that this woman was Canadian. As they were getting on the bus she noticed the small Canadian flag pin on the front pocket of her bag. “Yes. I mean technically you are to now.” The woman let out a small laugh. Kara couldn’t tell what was funny but let out a small laugh anyways.
She just wanted to seem normal, to seem human. She, Alice, and Luther just needed to get to Ontario where Rose said her brother lived. Then they would be truly safe. They were still too close to the border for her liking. The bus pulled to a stop at the terminals curb. It was past midnight now and Alice was fast asleep. Generally androids didn’t require rest but it was completely possible for them to.
It was a quicker way to pass the time at night. A few people stood up and reached for their bags hidden in the small compartments up above. The red-head stood up and did the same grabbing her bag she was wearing earlier. Kara’s gaze drifted to the large window where she stared out at the snowy bus lot. “Anyways, I have to go. It was nice meeting you and your family, I hope you enjoy Canada as much as I do.” The woman beamed while waving goodbye as she walked down the aisle to the buses exit.
Kara smiled fondly as she watched the woman exit the bus. The two of them had a pleasant conversation. She hoped all Canadians were as kind as her. Kara stood up and shimmied across the seats in order to get to the aisle. “I got her.” Luther said softly as he picked Alice up in his arms. The girl looked so fragile. They were the last to exit the self-driving bus before it pulled away from the curb. She looked up at the dark sky and watched the snow sail gracefully downwards.
It was cold. They were free. That’s all that mattered at the moment. “Remind me to get a jacket that doesn’t have holes in the pockets.” She said hearing Luther snicker in response.
“I will Kara.” He agreed as they left the terminal and headed for a taxi.
It was cold, that’s all she remembered from that night.

Connor was done chasing deviants. They were legal now, there was no reason to chase them. But his programming was still law enforcement. For that reason, he offered to take up a protection detail for Markus. With Markus’s new position as an android leader, he would be under threat constantly. From humans obviously. And there were a few androids who were content with their lives before Markus caused chaos. Those were the biggest threats.
Markus had forgiven Connor for his actions against him and Jericho. And Connor had nearly killed him when CyberLife tried to take control of him. So Connor also felt honor bound to help Markus. And Markus reluctantly let him aid him in this way. Markus didn’t want Connor to risk his life, Markus wasn’t keen on sacrificing anyone. In fact, Markus had a bad habit of throwing himself in harms way to save others. But Connor would protect Markus. In truth, he was glad that Markus agreed in the end. Because Connor would’ve protected Markus anyway.
Markus and his trusted group—North, Josh, Simon—were the unofficial leaders of the android race. There had been no official decision on who should represent the androids or how representation should be carried out. But Connor had no doubt that Markus would be the first android representative. Right now, however, he was the one to meet with the humans. He was the one to carry out negotiations and talks for peace and civil rights. North, Josh, and Simon were his advisors. Markus called Connor and advisor as well. And while Connor would occasionally weigh in with his opinion, he knew his place. He was security.
The group was just leaving another peace talk when Connor’s assistance was needed. An android came up to Markus, and AP700 model. The woman profusely thanked Markus for freeing the androids. This was a usual occurrence, androids appreciated what Markus had done for them. Connor took a moment to scan the android. AP700, registered name: Lucy. She had shyly approached Markus, hands politely clasped behind her back. Connor noticed the change though.
While Lucy began to talk more animatedly, she would gesture with her hand. But only one. The other one stayed behind her back, never really moving. Connor eased closer to Markus as he noticed this abnormality. The Lucy android glanced at him, and seemed a little surprised to see the famed ‘deviant hunter’ with the freer of deviants. Connor really wished that title would go away.
However, Lucy inched closer to Markus. Connor noticed she was trying to get between him and Markus. But Connor kept staying close enough to keep and eye on her and intervene if necessary. His fears were well founded. “Oh, enough of this.” The Lucy android grumbled. She brought the other hand out from behind her back and was brandishing a knife.
Connor placed a hand on Markus’s shoulder and pulled him back. This effectively put Connor in front of Markus in a protective stance. Lucy brought the blade forward in a downward strike. Connor moved to avoid in but Lucy still managed to slice Connor’s left arm, exposing circuits and causing blue blood to leak from the opening. But Connor was unfazed. That didn’t damage any important biocomponents. Lucy swung the blade out in front of her causing a gash on Connor’s torso. He let out a strangled noise as it clipped a biocomponent. He steeled himself against the interruption and went to keep protecting Markus. It was his duty.
But suddenly, the Lucy model was tackled. Josh was holding it down. North was contacting the authorities. Simon was finding some way to restrain the android. Markus was checking on Connor. “You didn’t need to do that for me.” Markus told him.
“Yes I did, I am your security officer. I am here to protect you.” Suddenly, Connor felt the effects of the damaged biocomponent. He grunted and dropped down to one knee, and hand over his wounded torso.
“Well, now it’s my job to ensure you get fixed up.” Markus said. He turned to the others. “Do you have everything under control here while I take care of Connor?” He asked.
“Of course Markus.” North answered.
“Good.” Markus reached down and grabbed Connor’s uninjured arm to help him stand upright. He took that same arm and placed it around his shoulders. He assisted Connor back to the old church they used as a back-up shelter. It was being renovated so they could use the building once more. Right now it held all the blue blood and biocomponents they had stolen. Markus stayed by Connor’s side until he was fully repaired.
Connor stumbled into Hank’s home, his home as well. His shirt had cuts in it and was stained blue. Usually thirium evaporates, but it stains clothes just like any other liquid. And Connor’s white shirt would never be wearable again. “Jesus Christ, what happened?” Hank said. He was in front of Connor in mere seconds, looking for the damage.
“I was mildly damaged after protecting Markus. That damage was minimal and I was repaired.” Connor said.
Hank huffed. “Be careful kid. You may be a machine but I’d hate for you to get damaged beyond repair.”
Kara didn’t exactly like Connor, which was fair. He had tried to capture them when he hunted deviants. He thinks he made up for that by now, but Kara was still wary of him. Kara’s family unit, her as well as Alice and Luther, had crossed the boarder successfully. They even set up citizenship in Canada. However, Markus asked them to return and share their story at one of the peace talks.
It was a smart move. Luther talked about working for Zlatko. He talked of all the androids that came through and were torn apart by a cruel human. He told of joining Kara and Alice and the family he found with them. Kara talked about being owned by an abusive owner. How her memories only began in a CyberLife store after being repaired from one of Todd’s beatings. How she became deviant to protect a small girl who was being abused.
And Alice didn’t speak. She was technically a child. But Kara spoke for her. Her trials as well. Alice stayed outside the room. Connor had slipped from the room at one point. He knew Kara’s story well at this point. He was exactly bored because these were important matters, but he knew everything Kara was saying. If anyone had asked him why he slipped out, he would say it was because Hank was trying to contact him. Which wasn’t a lie exactly. However, Hank had just sent Connor a picture of Sumo laying on one of Connor’s shirts (which Connor wasn’t sure how he got it as all his shirts were hanging up in his closet but he suspected Hank had something to do with it) with a caption ‘I think someone is missing you.’
Connor noticed Alice staring out the window. He stepped a bit closer to see if he could determine what the little girl was staring at. There was a cat sitting outside. A small grey tabby cat. Alice watched it as it licked its paws. Kara had talked about Alice’s growing desire for a pet. Connor agreed that the little girl seemed very fascinated by animals. The tabby scampered away from the building. Alice didn’t hesitate before running outside to follow it. Connor instinctually followed.
A child shouldn’t be left unsupervised. And he could contact Kara with their location. Alice walked down the sidewalk a bit to follow the kitten. She reached out a hand and the kitten tentatively sniffed the hand. Alice lowered her hand and pet the cat. She smiled at the animal. The kitten noticed Connor walk up behind Alice and it was enough the frighten it. The kitten ran into the street to flee Connor.
The small cat froze up as car whizzed by. Alice, worried for its safety, raced out into the road after it. She scooped up the cat. Time froze for Connor as he computed the events and options before him. If he failed to do anything Alice would be hit by the cars. So he ran out into the street and pushed the little girl forward. She stumbled forward and onto the sidewalk on the other side of the road. Connor flew forward a shirt distance as a car drove right into him.
Connor grunted in pain. His biocomponents were all malfunctioning. He struggled to send a message to Kara. ‘In street out front. Alice is fine. I require assistance.’ His LED circle spun as the message was sent. Then the circle flashed red before staying a steady red as he lay motionless.
Luckily, Connor had merely gone into power down mode. And they were able to fix all damaged parts. He powered back up and found he was on Hank’s couch. “What did I say about being careful?” Hank said.
“I was trying to protect a child.” Connor defended.
“I know. And you did protect her. You did good kid. You just scared me, that’s all.”
“I apologize Hank.”
In the end, Kara ended up adopting the kitten that Alice had saved.
Gavin Reed. The police officer that hated Connor. But that was alright. Because Hank hated Gavin. And Connor wasn’t fond of Gavin either. It was like a mutual hatred of each other. Unfortunately, Officer Reed was lead investigator for murders. So homicide and murder crossed over a lot. The boys tried to play nice for the sake of their jobs and justice.
While investigating a murder, the three were following a lead. Usually Gavin let Hank and Connor follow up on leads alone. But this was a big case according to Gavin. “And I’m not gonna let the local drunk and Ken doll get all the credit.” So Gavin came with them. And he decided to pester them the whole car ride. There was plenty of cursing in that car ride.
They found a warehouse full of various items and boxes and crates, so they began searching. At one point, a few suspects walked in. When the suspects noticed the cops, they all pulled guns and began firing. The three men dove for cover behind boxes. Hank and Connor dove behind a study and full box. Gavin moved behind a rather empty box. He stood against the box. Connor looked to Reed’s hiding spot.
The box was getting shot up, multiple holes appearing. The box would either be destroyed or a bullet would penetrate the box and hit Gavin.
Gavin Reed had a 31% chance of surviving if he stayed in his current hiding place.
Connor turned toward the detective and got in a position to stand and run. Hank gave him a curious look. “I may need some cover Lieutenant.”
“What the fuck for?” Hank asked. He had his gun drawn but had little opportunity to fire his weapon. Connor pushed himself into a standing position and ran out toward Gavin. “Connor, the fuck are you doing?!” Hank yelled. He stood up and drew fire while Connor ran forward and tackled Gavin, successfully getting him behind a far sturdier box that wouldn’t be penetrated.
“What the fuck are you doing you useless piece of scrap?” Gavin screamed. Then the box he had been standing behind shattered. “Shit.” Gavin breathed and looked to Connor in surprise.
“What I was ‘fucking doing’ was saving your life Detective.” Connor replied matter of factly. Connor then drew his weapon and Gavin did the same. The three men quickly apprehended the suspects.
“You two alright?” Hank asked after the suspects were down.
“Yes, Lieutenant.” Connor replied.
“I’m fucking fine Anderson.” Gavin snarked at Hank.
Hank walked over to Connor and scanned him up and down. He smiled slightly. “That was the furthest thing from careful. But there’s not a drop of thirium on you.” Connor looked down and realized he had indeed not been hit by any bullets. “Good job kid.”
It was only a few weeks later that they were investigating another crime. Gavin was not present this time. The duo was investigating the crime scene. Both the men involved in this crime had left a small blood trail. One led to the victim. Connor knelt down and stuck his pointer and middle finger in the blood pool near the victim. A quick glance to confirm Hank was not watching, and he stuck his fingers in his mouth. A few moments later the analysis came back. Indeed the victim.
Connor found a different blood pool. He did another analysis. He heard Hank grumbled about something. Probably the fact that Connor was “licking” the evidence. It was the suspect. “Lieutenant, the suspect left a trail of his own.” Connor began following the trail. It lead to a different room. Right to a closet. Connor leaned in and pressed an ear to the door. He heard some deep breathing, indicative of someone who is scared or stressed. The suspect was still here.
Connor slowly backed away. He kept the closet in his line of sight. He came close to the room Hank was in. He looked towards his partner. “Hank, please come here for a moment.” Hank walked over to Connor.
“What’s wrong?” Hank asked.
“I believe the suspect is still here.” Connor said. In hindsight, he maybe should’ve lowered his voice. The suspect broke out from his hiding spot. He had a gun trained on Connor. Hank tackled Connor as the suspect fired.
“Argh! Fuck!” Hank said, and pressed a hand to his leg.
“Hank! You’re wounded!” Connor said, worry, a quite unwelcome and unfavorable emotion, filling him.
“Don’t worry about me. Get that motherfucker!” Hank commanded. But Connor knew there were other officers who could apprehend the culprit. He knelt down next to Hank to examine the wound. Luckily it only grazed Hank’s leg and he would recover in only a matter of weeks with proper care and following doctor’s instructions. So it would take Hank longer.
“Why would you risk yourself like that?” Connor asked.
“You were about to be shot. Why the fuck do you think I did that?” Hank said.
“You should’ve let me get injured. I am repairable. You can recover but parts are not replaceable for humans.” Connor reasoned.
Hank grabbed Connor’s collar. “If you got shot through that chest of yours, there’d be no coming back. You are an advanced prototype. That means no parts for you. A bullet would kill you son. And that is the last thing I want. Get that through that plastic skull of yours. Be careful.” With that Hank let go of Connor’s collar and fully laid back on the ground and waited for an ambulance. Connor kept pressure on the wound but remained silent.
A few hours later Hank was waking up in the hospital with his leg wrapped up. “Are you alright Hank?” Connor asked, leaning forward toward Hank.
“Can I get out of here?” He asked. “Then I’ll be fine.” Hank grumbled.
“You will be discharged soon I am sure. The doctor’s confirmed that you will recover fine.” Connor said. “But you have to follow all the doctor’s instructions.”
“Like hell I do.” Hank grumbled.
“Well Hank, if you failed to follow those instructions then you wouldn’t be acting very carefully.” Connor said, the smallest hint of a teasing smile on his face.
Hank looked to Connor is slight disbelief. He knew the android could be a bit of a smart ass but it had gotten worse since he deviated. “Oh fuck you kid.” Hank said. And though those were harsh words, Connor picked up on the compassion in each one. He just hoped his words would actually make Hank listen to the doctors. However, Connor still wasn’t surprised when Hank wasn’t fully recovered for nearly two months.
