Foul Heart Huntsman is my first book of 2024, so Miss Celia Lang (my favorite character in both series) is my first drawing

Everyone saying that "we got confirmation that Kathleen/Celia is trans in foul lady fortune" clearly did not read the other two books very carefully because its explicitly stated in the very early chapters of these violent delights that Celia was born a male but was a girl. One of the first descriptions of her is of her jade pendent hiding her adams apple. Also, anyone still calling Celia 'Kathleen/Celia' is wrong. Her name is Celia. She hasn't been pretending to be Kathleen since before she joined the communists.
If you've finished Foul Lady Fortune and you're still referring to her as 'Kathleen/Celia' it's bordering on transphobic. I think it is mentioned 3 times (?) that she used to go my Kathleen and two of them were in the early book by Celia herself. Once when she was reflecting on her past, the second when her pendent came loose and Oliver fixed it.
The third time was by Rosalind and what actually happens is that she says "it had been a while since she had thought about Kathleen, the real Kathleen, the real Kathleen who hadn't reached her 15th birthday" or something along those lines
Other than that Celia is only ever referred to as Celia. Never Kathleen.
Her name is Celia. Not Kathleen. Use the right name for gods sake

I started "These Violent Delights" from Chloe Gong and I LOVED THE FIRST BOOK! I WAS WAITING SO MUCH FOR ROMAJULI, ROSABEN AND KATMARS TO HAPPEN.
I'm reading book 2 and turns out Ben is suddenly gay and I'm sad my couples probably happen...plus, seems like he just lost all his personality from book 1, i don't know it seems that all the things are just happening too fast🥲
But Roma and Juli ARE SUCH A POWER COUPLE✨

These two books have destroyed me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I honestly didn't think I would have loved them so much. But I did. I was litteraly stuck in a loop were I would pick up the book, put it down after a few second pacing nervously around the room, staring manancigly at the book and than pick it up again. All because I wanted to go on but at the same time I didn't, because it's a retelling of Romeo and Juliette and we all know what happens at the end. So, yeah, going on will mean pain but I needed to go on because I wanted to understand, I wanted answers.
And my heart bleed for this characters, because of their life full of fear and hate and love in a city that was so merciless throward them, in a life that was cruel that it would always put Roma and Juliette one against the other. I think I screamed when Benedikt said that he would have liked if they could choose their love without letting the world burn around them. The same character that had the most painful scene that made my hearth break in tiny little pieces.
So yes I love these books and I would just like to say to everyone that wants to read them or is reading them to be prepared. After all, "These violent delights have violent ends"

POV it’s April 2023 and you are the kid next to me in Social Studies watching me look up on my school issued IPad “Is Kathleen Lang trans” as my copy of These Violent Delights lays in front of me even though it was mentioned in chapter 1 and flat out said it in the book but I am a dumbass who needs everything confirmed for me because I don’t know if I’m being delusional or not.

“Sometimes it was hard for Kathleen to remember that she was still her own person, not just shards of mirror, reflecting back a thousand different personalities most fitting for the situation.”

my favorite quotes from books: our violent ends
“these violent delights have violent ends”
“don’t miss” “i never do”
“keep fighting for love. it is worth it.”
“to have and to hold, where even death cannot part us.” “in this life and the next, for however long our souls remain, mine will always find yours.”
“you destroy me and then you kiss me. you give me a reason to hate you and then you give me a reason to love you. is this a lie or the truth? is this a ploy or your heart reaching for me?”
“where you go, i go.”
“he would have burned the damn city to the ground just to keep her unharmed.”
“my darling, darling juliette.”
“they had always been two mirrored souls, the only ones who understood the other in a city that wanted to consume them whole, and now they were joined, mightier when together.”
“what was love if all it did was kill?”
“say it again. i didn’t pine all these years to only hear it once.”
“i was not raised respectably. i was raised a gangster.”
