Norma Jean Belfire, 83 years of age, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on April 25, 2022 at her home in Buffalo Valley, Tennessee. Norma Jean was born on November 8, 1938 in Morgan County, the second of five children, born to Robert and Jessie Elkins. She received her primary education from the Monrovia rural school and graduated from Monrovia High School with the class of 1956. She pursued higher education and received a Bible major degree and minor in Spanish from Bob Jones University.
On June 17, 1962, Norma Jean was united in marriage to Warren Lee Belfire at the Calvary Baptist Church in Illinois and to this union, the couple were blessed with four children: Vincent, Dawn, Sean, and Cindy.
Norma Jean Belfire was instrumental in helping her husband find his way back to the Lord in 1968 when he finally answered the call to enter the ministry.
During her nearly 59 years of marriage to Warren, she helped him as he prepared his messages, taught Sunday School class for kids, taught at a Christian school in Indiana, and taught her kids the love of the Lord.
Norma Jean loved her home church in Hazelwood, Indiana, sewing, crocheting, and reading. She liked country music and enjoyed listening to various singers at the Grand Ole Opry. Her family was her greatest joy and she loved her husband dearly and now they are together forever.
Norma Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Belfire; and her grandson, Robert Ashbaugh.
She leaves to celebrate her life; her children: Vincent Belfire and his wife, LeAnn of Buffalo Valley, Tennessee; Dawn Beals and her husband, James of Mosheim, Tennessee; Sean Belfire and his wife, Julie of Mooresville, Indiana; and Cindy Ashbaugh and her husband, Rick of Tipton, Missouri; two grandchildren: Josh Belfire and Jessie England of Mooresville, Indiana; brothers: Fred; Vernon; and Jim Elkins of Indiana; brother-in-law, Ken Hempel of San Francisco, California; as well as, a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Norma Jean's honor and kindly suggested to Bob Jones University.
