I really like the Hindi version of the song while being aware of how cringeworthy quite a few parts of this mv are. The American flags everywhere, the gospel choir… Even at the time it was released those things were noticed.
But this was Shahrukh’s big comeback film after his back surgery. SRK / Saif Ali Khan slash was a big thing. Kantaben wouldn’t approve.

Aman dying young of some sort of vague heart disease was so crazy to me. He should have been at the disco with Rohit and Naina

Guys don’t get mad at me I’m a white bitch and I’m very new to this but… what is the general opinion on Karan Johar’s work? Because I know there is a nostalgia factor in it for a lot of people but like… I just cannot really dig the stories (and the treatment of female characters). I watched Kal Ho Naa Ho and I was honestly kinda disappointed bc I thought it would be fantastic but it just… wasn’t.

Why do I feel like Greg Berlanti is the USAmerican Karan Johar. Establishment gays pushing forward the gay agenda yes, but Karan Johar's is significantly more risk than reward considering Bollywood doesn't have a liberal brownie points system. And he STILL managed to get an explicit gay sex scene in a Madhuri Dixit show while the most Berlanti has managed to date is a fade to black love scene where the leads hold their crotches a foot apart at all times. Also Karan Johar has real talent, even though I feel pained typing that out. He knows how to make a movie so unapologetically trash and sparkle it gets entire generations obsessed. Berlanti is so white even his trash is bland and forgettable.

late 90s/early 2000s srk movies hit me in such a specific way and i’m sure many of them don’t age well but there’s something about that era of bollywood that is just so fond to me.
