(This lovely poster is the handiwork of our wonderful host @sazanes!!)
Welcome to our second edition of the King Liam Appreciation Week!! Just like last year, we are holding it around the time of the International Day for Monuments and Sites, which is on April 18th.
It's been 6 years since we were first introduced to the younger brother of the "Prince" LI from RoE, and he's been capturing the minds and hearts of many Choices players ever since! Whether it's for his romantic sensibilities, his compassion, his vast knowledge of both his country and the world, or his charm and diplomacy - he is a favourite among many Choices players.
As Liam is an avid lover of History and especially of monuments and heritage sites, we continue to hold this event around 18th April! This event will happen over 5 days - from April 17th to 21st. The themes for the days are as follows:
Day 1 - April 17th - Character Appreciation/Throwback
Day 2 - April 18th - King/Historian
Day 3- April 19th - Foodie/Baklava
Day 4 - April 20th - Childhood/Family
Day 5 - April 21st - Friendships/Relationships/AU
Keep in mind that you don't have to send the content on the exact day of the theme - if you give it a little later as well, it's still fine as long as you tag the piece with the day it was meant for (#KLAW Day 1, #KLAW Day 2, etc).
Any content is welcome! Fanfic, fanart, edits, moodboards, meta, interactive media, headcanons, character appreciation... anything! As long as it celebrates Liam as a character, focuses on him and shows positive depictions of him. We also accept WIPs and a specific day (Throwback) is set aside for past pieces on Liam. If you like, you can even tell us about the process of creating that piece (here's an ask list for throwback pieces if you have doubts!).
Make sure you tag @kingliamappreciationweek in your posts, as well as the hosts @lizzybeth1986 and @sazanes in your content so we don't miss it! It would also make it easier to track if you use the tags #kingliamappreciationweek and #KLAW in your posts as an extra precaution.
For inspiration, take a look at our KLAW 2022 Masterlist! It's got some brilliant pieces!!
Various fan content blogs have helped in promoting our weeks and also run great events on a weekly/monthly basis. We would definitely love for our participants to check them out in case they'd like to be part of those too: @choicesficwriterscreations, @choicesmonthlychallenge, @choicespride, @choicesprompts, @choicesholidays, @wip-wipeout-weekend, @moodmusicmonday.
Once the week is officially over, we will keep a bonus week for participants who have trouble sending content during the week itself.
We have over a month to get ready for KLAW, and we're super excited to see what our fellow Liam fans might have in store! See you all in April!!
✅✅signal boosts will be highly appreciated!!✅✅

Cappadocia
King’s Study, Cordonian Palace
Bright rays of light streamed through the bay windows as Liam sat down at his desk to open and review the mail he received while away on his honeymoon.
Next to his ornate inbox on his desk, was the morning paper.
He dropped the stack of correspondence he had just picked up back down as he read the bold lettering printed above the picture captured of the Royal couple leaving the jet as they arrived home.
‘IS OUR HEIR HOME?’
‘KING LIAM SMILES WIDELY ARRIVING WITH HIS QUEEN.’
***
Reclining his chair, his thoughts went back in time to just four weeks ago...
...it all started on their honeymoon, when Javier knocked the spoon of amuse bouche, having raw fish, out of Riley’s hand. Giving his apologies, ‘To have almost destroyed Cordonia’s future’, he assumed that Riley was pregnant.
Taking it in stride, they laughed together as if nothing had happened, and continued with a leisurely dinner.
...and then the intrusion of camera flashes, unknown at the time, were from unwelcome and uninvited paparazzi that were invading their privacy. It wasn’t until they arrived home and read the articles written about them and seen the pictures in the tabloids, did they realize how truly intrusive those cameras had been.
...and on the last night on the island being told that the King and Queen of Auvernal arrived uninvited, wanting ‘to discuss the issue of his heir’.
Arriving home with ‘a massive crowd of citizens and paparazzi’ waiting at Valtoria, which was to be expected.
Yes, it was a normal occurrence for me, but for Riley, it was a new reality. A world she had never personally experienced before.
My Queen won the hearts of our people and answered their questions with confidence and grace, despite the audacity of the press.
As we entered the estate, however, the intrusive remarks by members of the court were even more personal and direct.
...and then there was Madeleine. She was not only rude, but also snide and sarcastic.
Liam’s thoughts were interrupted by a light knocking on the door of his study.
“Come,” he said without looking up from his desk.
Opening the door slowly, Riley stepped inside quietly closing the door behind her.
“I hope I am not interrupting...” she began to say hesitantly.
“Riley, my love, come here.” He smiled warmly as he stood and quickly moved around his desk. Taking her into his arms, “you are always welcome here, anytime.”
“Hi Liam,” Riley smiles coyly, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Breathing in her sweet smelling hair, Liam placed his hand on her neck and tilted her head up to capture a not so innocent kiss on her lips.
After a few long seconds of exchanging passionate kisses, Liam pulled away, and gently caressed her cheek.
“What would you say if I told you that we are going on an adventure this weekend?"
A broad smile spread across her face, and she looked up at him in anticipation.
“I would say, ‘when do we leave?’”
Chuckling, Liam took her hand and led her to sit on the sofa by the bay window.
Sitting down in a wingback chair directly across from Riley, Liam said,
“‘What we need is space to ourselves.’ We have been home for a day and a half, and I think we need a distraction.”
Riley giggled, "Oh, my King, that look in your eye tells me that you thought of something spectacular!"
“Yes, My Queen, Indeed I did," he smiled widely.
Laughing, Liam reached over and pulled her onto his lap, and gave her another kiss.
"How does riding in a hot air balloon at sunrise over vast valleys sound? Or staying at a luxury hotel inside of a cave within a sandstone cliff?”
“Oh my, yes! That sounds amazing!”
“Good, because that is exactly what I have planned for us this upcoming week,” he said with a twinkle in his eyes.
"Love, we are going to Cappadocia, Turkey.”
“Really? I thought we were going on a road trip in the U.S. with Hana, Maxwell and Drake?” Riley questioned, raising her eyebrow.
“Don’t worry we will still arrive on Texas in time for Bertrand and Savannah’s wedding. But, instead of sharing time with our friends, I decree, my queen needs pampering.”
***
Royal Jet, on the tarmac
Aboard the Royal jet, Riley was settling into her seat as Liam discussed the flight plans with the pilot before take-off.
“Your majesty, the flight will take approximately three hours, and we should be arriving in Cappadocia shortly after.”
“Thank you, Captain,” Liam replied.
Turning to Riley, “It seems like our adventure is just about ready to start.”
Bastien and Mara were just entering the cabin, taking their seats behind the Royal couple as the sound of the engines increased in sound.
As the jet lifted off the tarmac, Liam squeezed Riley’s hand.
“We are going to see a part of the world that most people have never been to before. We’re going to experience things that very few people ever get to enjoy. And, most importantly, we are going to spend time away from court.”
“Madeleine, Godfrey, and our royal visitors are going to revolt. When they find out we left the Capital, they...”
“Riley, you forget something very, very important. You are my Queen now. Our word is law in Cordonia. As far as Bradshaw, Isabella and Amalas are concerned, they are uninvited guests and do not dictate our schedules. The reason there is a Royal council is to support the Crown in whatever the Queen and King decides.”
“I’m sorry, Liam, I shouldn’t worry about everyone else.”
Smiling, Liam kissed her hand, “It’s just one of your qualities that I love so much. Sometimes you must let go of the reins otherwise you’ll drive yourself crazy. Okay?”
Grinning and nodding her head, Riley asked, “now, tell me more about this trip; what do you have in-store for us?”
“Well, once we arrive in Cappadocia, we are going to travel to a town called Goreme. That is where the hotel we are staying at is situated. It’s just outside of Goreme. The entire town is built into the side of a mountain, with many caves that are used for living quarters by locals.”
“It sounds amazing!”
“There are several other villages near Goreme, including Selime and Nevsehir. All of them are lush and green, especially during the spring season. There are hot springs that we can enjoy, as well as several museums and ruins that we will visit. The area is rich in history, as well as culture.”
“Oh Liam, it sounds incredible.”
“Yes, it is. Now, I want you to relax and let me plan everything. I know how much you love surprises, and I don’t intend to disappoint.”
With a wink, Liam added, “and, we will have lots of opportunities to work on our family.”
***
When they landed in Cappadocia, a large white Mercedes SUV was waiting to escort them to their hotel in Goreme.
As they travelled, Liam explained the local landscapes, including the tall, cone shaped rock formations known as ‘fairy chimneys’. “These were formed 60 million years ago after a sequence of volcanic eruptions hit the area.
The name ‘Cappadocia’ is derived from the Persian word, ‘Katpatuka’, meaning the land of beautiful horses. In ancient times, gifts or tributes of horses from this region were presented to ancient Assyrian and Persian kings.”
“It sounds like horses were paid for taxes to the crown,” Riley replied.
“Yes, in fact the locals here still value horses and offer visitors an alternate mode of transport, instead of motor vehicles.”
Liam directed the driver to slow down as they travelled by the rock cut churches. “They say that these churches number up to 600, and there is a possibility that many are yet to be discovered. The chapels were carved into the soft rock by monks in the dark ages, and some of them have kept their original impressive frescoes with amazing detail.
Superstitious locals scratched out the eyes of some of the figures due to the fear of the ‘evil eye’.”
“Well, we can check it out tomorrow morning after our balloon cruise.”
Kayakapi Premium Caves Hotel
After checking in, they were personally ushered to their penthouse suite by the resort chamberlain.
“Your Majesties, this hotel is set inside 8 original fairy chimneys and has an indoor pool that resembles an ancient Roman bathhouse and spa.”
Liam squeezed Riley’s hand, pulling her close to his side.
Continuing, the chamberlain pointed out the traditional artifacts and artwork throughout the hotel as they walked passing by the sunrise balloon viewing terrace.
Arriving inside their penthouse suite, Liam chuckled watching Riley’s jaw drop.
“You didn’t tell me there was a pool.... inside our suite!”
“Of course not,” Liam said with a laugh.
Laughing, she smacked him playfully on the arm.
“No, you did not.”
“Oh good.”
Liam set her down on the edge of the pool, then poured two flutes of champagne and handed one to her.
“To our new life together,” clinking their crystal flutes.
Taking a sip of champagne, Riley held her flute up, “to riding the skies tomorrow.”
Liam raised his flute and added,
“Because at sunrise we will be on a hot air balloon ride, for the absolute best view of the region in all its glory.”
***
“Love is in the air”
“OH. MY. GOD. I feel like we are flying over the moon!’
As Liam stepped up behind Riley, he wrapped his arms around her waist in a hug and placed a soft kiss on her neck.
“Hidden beneath the landscape are over 50 underground cities. An interesting fact is that these cities held all the necessary facilities to lead an everyday life. These cities had everything a typical town would have, from wine presses to cooking places, oil storage, and livestock pens. These cities served as a safe space for Christians escaping persecution by Arabs.
In fact, the name ‘Goreme’ means ‘one cannot see in here’.”
Leaning back against him. She rested her head on his shoulder.
“I love you,” he whispered.
“I love you, too,” she murmured.
Looking over her shoulder at Liam, “this place is amazing!”
Gazing at the ancient rock formations rising from the ground like castles and churches, Liam smiled.
“It certainly is. I had no idea that these places existed until a few months ago.”
“This is so beautiful,” Riley said, looking around the stunning landscape below.
“Indeed, it is.”

Royal jet, en route to the U.S.
Riley awoke from a nap due to turbulence. She sat up in her seat and reached for Liam’s hand.
“What is it? Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, the air turbulence is getting to me.”
Lifting her hand to his lips, he gave her a gentle kiss.
Riley felt her stomach turn, and she took a breath.
Moving closer, Liam stroked her cheek.
“Are you sure? You look pale.”
“Thank you so much for taking me on this trip.” Riley was clearly getting emotional. “I love you so much.”
Reaching over, he brushed aside her hair, kissing the top of her
Forehead.
“As soon as the wedding is over, I will take you home.” Riley looked up at her husband, “I am already home.... “You are my home.”

A/N: The @kingliamappreciationweek (day 1 ) was an excellent excuse to revisit my very old WIPs. Thank you @lizzybeth1986 for brainstorming the title for this fic that hopefully will be a mini series.
Prompt: That's how the story goes @choicesflashfics and flower, sunrise @aprilchallenge by @peonierose for @choicesmonthlychallenge
🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀
The island of Corsica,
Mediterranean sea,
France.
The first rays of the rising sun kissed the peak of Monte Cinto igniting the deep red of the granite and then bowed at its foothills before bathing the valley of Lozzi. With the thick backdrop of chestnut forests and the evergreen sheet of the shrubs, the village of Lozzi brightened to its glory. The fragrance of the flowers of the Maquis carried far out across the land as life stirred awake on the “Scented Isle.”
Savannah was already up on her toes, hastening through her morning chores before she reached her workplace.
It had been a couple of years since she left Cordonia and had made her little abode on this island. She had no regrets, no complaints. With her qualifications she was able to pick up a job that helped her manage her expenses in Corsica. Moreover, she was grateful for having a reason to live. A reason to look at the world through the innocent blue eyes of her little munchkin. She thanked the Almighty in her prayers and then got ready for the day.
After a couple of hours, she walked down a curved path to a cream building that had a dull blue board with a large print of 'Middle school of Moltifao'. This was where she had found her happiness. She was re- living her childhood teaching history lessons to some ten year olds here. She entered a modest room decorated with hand made amateur charts.
Twenty one curious little minds were eagerly waiting in that room for an interesting story from their teacher, whom they adored. They were all delighted to see her and so was she.
Except, the topic for the day was a bit difficult for her to deal with. It was going to bring back memories of her 'Prince Charming' and so much more. But, 'the show must go on' she thought and began…
"We discussed Vatican City last time. Today let's talk about Cordonia. Can anyone tell me what's common between these two countries of Europe?" She made their little minds work.
The plump girl on the first desk shot her hand high in the air. Savannah smiled at the Hermione of her class.
"Yes, Susan, tell me."
" They are both absolute monarchies." She beamed proudly.
"You are right."
Rio, who always had doubts about anything and everything, interjected, "But why? I understood the reasons for Vatican City in the last class Ms Walker. Why is Cordonia ruled by a king when the rest of the countries in Europe have elected governments?"
"Good question, Rio. Cordonia had its own struggle too. There was a period of unrest when a group of people revolted and did not want the royals. But everything changed when King Liam took over the reins."
She felt the blush rising to her cheeks. She was irritated, realizing what effect his name had on her even after all these years.
She covered up her nervousness and shifted her gaze from Rio to the rest of the class. "Anyone know about him and how he brought about the change?"
Susan again stretched her hand high, but so did Sana, the quietest of them all. Savannah smiled at Susan in an understanding and then asked Sana to speak. "He is King Liam, the wise. He is very kind, cares for his people and loves them."
"Very good, Sana!" She encouraged her.
Sana coyly looked at her classmates and when she saw everyone smiling, she continued, "King Liam belongs to the Rhys dynasty. Ever since his coronation he has helped his people. He relaxed many rules to ease out the life of common people. Unlike other nobles he gels with commoners and is comfortable with us."
The last word sent Savannah's mind on a spin. 'She said 'us'. What does she mean by 'us'? Is she from Cordonia? What are the odds? Will my secret be revealed?' her thoughts were racing yet she maintained her poise and politely asked, "That's very nice,Sana. How do you know these details?"
"My aunt lives in Cordonia. They have apple orchards there. Aunt Cher told me there was an attack once by bad people and all their orchards were destroyed. She says King Liam waived off the taxes and came down himself to work with farmers.  That's how the story goes." Sana concluded.
Savannah would have been lost in her thoughts, of her time with him around the apple trees, had Nader not raised a question, "Did he fight the bad people?"
Sana shrugged her shoulders and looked at her teacher for an answer.
Savannah composed herself again, "Not exactly, Nader. The attacks happened when King Liam was just crowned."
Nader interjected wide eyed, " You mean there were more than one attack?"
Savannah nodded sadly. "Cordonia had a tough time. Liam had to face another such attack before he could prove himself. But under his command, the military became stronger, the council became more sympathetic to the needs of citizens and the country started flourishing. The bad people had to give up their fight and accept that Liam is the best ruler they have had in a century."
Emanuel, the wise boy of the class shared his opinion, "He seems to be a very nice person."
Savannah felt a wave of pride as she added, "Indeed he is. Liam is liked by not just his countrymen but he is even a favorite in meetings held at global levels. And guess why?" She spurred the kids.
Emanuel replied or rather questioned back, "Is it because he is very kind and always respectful?"
Savannah agreed, "Yes Emanuel, he is affectionate and gentle. He is courteous and obliging to all. That is the whole reason he is called people's king."
Rachel asked in a shy tone, "Is he handsome?"
Savannah almost snorted at the little girl's interest, "Very much! He is the most gallant and chivalrous gentleman you will ever meet."
"What does he look like?"
Savannah realized that she had turned as red as Rachel, blushing while she answered. " He is tall and a strong man. He looks at you with the calmest blue eyes and he is ever smiling, making you forget all your worries." This was getting a bit out of hand so she thought of changing the topic but the children seemed unstoppable.
Dave raised a point that turned out to be the most disturbing for Savannah, "Did you ever meet him or see him?"
She closed her eyes for a moment. 'I was supposed to be with him but I can't tell you that.' She took a deep breath before she spoke. "Yes, I was lucky to see and meet him a few years ago."
Some of the kids gasped at that. She responded with a weak smile. Rachel seemed to be fascinated just as Savannah was as a little girl. So she inquired, "That must be like a dream come true!"
Savannah nodded through teary eyes and tried to curb the choking feeling in her throat. 'No more.' she couldn't fight her emotions for long so she decided to wrap up the session.
She swallowed thickly, "I think that's enough for today's class. Your assignments are due next week. Till then, read well and enjoy the tales from the past." She waved off with her signature line. She picked up her belongings and scurried away from the class in an effort to hide the overwhelming feeling she had.
Her students were to just read their history books but for her it was revisiting those excruciating wounds that were left from the memories of the man she loved.
She moved out of the door and started to her left without looking. She thought she banged into a wall but it was cushioned and smelled familiar. Too familiar. Like a part of her. No, it was the missing part of her. She shut her eyes tight to shoo away the daydream but the sound that followed, confirmed that it was real.
"If you like me so much, why did you leave me?" Liam lamented in his deep tone.  Savannah slowly opened her eyes, to face the set of peaceful ocean blues. She lost all her control and the dams of her eyes came crashing down.
(part 2 coming soon. Thank you so much for reading 😊)

Friendship
Series: None, this is a one-shot and you can find those here.
Fandom: The Royal Romance
Pairing: Constantine x Eleanor, Jackson x Bianca, but really it's about the beginning of Liam and Drake's friendship.
Rating: G
Warnings for this chapter: None
Word Count: 1,894
A/N: I had written the first couple of paragraphs over a year ago then put it away with no real idea where it was going. Then @kingliamappreciationweek happened and I decided to dust this off and finish it for childhood/family and friendships/relationships. I'm late, but here it is.
My other stuff: Master List.
Tumblr media
Liam was a serious child. Even as a toddler, people would remark about his solemn expression. It wasn’t that he never smiled, he did. It wasn’t that he wasn’t happy, he was. There had just always been an aura of thoughtfulness surrounding him. The portrait his mother had commissioned of him for his second birthday showed a somber child. He sat in an elaborate Baroque throne chair with dark red crushed velvet upholstery and a gold leaf finish. He was dressed in a toddler suit with short pants, showing his legs, still chubby with baby fat, his ebony hair brushed back from his face as he gazed solemnly out at the photographer.
Despite that, he was a friendly child who learned by the age of four that being charming got him whatever he wanted from the nannies and the kitchen staff.
A heartfelt, “Please?” netted him cookies, cakes, candies, and plenty of baklava. No one could withstand the cuteness of the little prince. Especially his mother.
His first smiles, at three months old, were for Eleanor. As he grew into a toddler and preschooler, she remained his favorite person, that somber expression turning into a wide faced grin at the sound of her voice or the sight of her face.
She read to him, she played with him, she took him on walks in the garden. She was the antidote to his father’s seriousness.
By the age of six, Liam had learned that his father’s affections were less frequent and harder earned. The bulk of Constantine’s attention went to Liam’s older brother, because Leo was going to be king, and Liam was not. He was only the spare.
Liam never resented Leo for it. He loved him. Leo was his second favorite person in the world, after Eleanor. He started toddling along behind him as soon as he could walk. Leo was older, cooler, and knew all the best games.
Leo was also a frequent rule breaker, while Liam was not. On this particular day, Leo and Olivia had decided to sneak away from the nannies and play in the woods behind the palace.
Leo had read to him until he bored of it. Pushing the stack of books away he exclaimed, “I can’t stand being inside for another moment! Let’s go out to play!”
“Finally!” Olivia cast the copy of Little Women she’d been reading to the side as she jumped up from the oversized beanbag in the corner of the library.
“I want to come too!” Liam scrambled quickly to his feet. He had learned the hard way that if he didn’t keep up with the older kids, he’d be left behind.
“Sure,” Leo shrugged, “but you have to be quiet until we get past the hedge maze.”
“Past the hedge maze?” Liam asked in alarm, “We aren’t supposed to go past the hedge maze! Father said-“
“Father doesn’t have to know, does he?”
“Maybe you should stay here, Liam,” Olivia said sagely, “I don’t want you to get in trouble.”
Liam thought for a moment, taking in Leo’s amusement and Olivia’s smug sureness that he would stay behind. He drew in a deep breath and squared his shoulders, “No. I’ll go!”
“Are you sure, Li?” Leo asked with a laugh, “Last time you got caught breaking the rules, you cried.”
Liam flushed with embarrassment. Father had been so angry. He didn’t like to make anyone angry, “I didn’t mean to break the vase.”
“Hey,” the amusement disappeared from Leo’s face, replaced with sympathy, “It’s okay! It wasn’t even your fault, I’m the one that talked you into playing football in the great room!”
“It’s okay, Liam,” Olivia placed a hand on his shoulder as she leaned down, “but I heard there’s fresh baklava in the kitchen. You should go get some!”
“Yeah…okay….” He agreed half-heartedly.
He picked up an illustrated copy of Where the Wild Things Are with a sigh as he watched Leo and Olivia sneak giggling down the hallway toward the garden doors.
Thirty minutes later he was perched on a stool at one of the marble counters in the place kitchen, shoving baklava into his mouth as he turned the pages of his book when he heard unfamiliar voices.
He turned away from his book in interest as the head of the King’s Guard entered the room with a man and a woman Liam had never seen before. Trailing behind the adults were two children.
Liam’s eyes widened as he took in the new arrivals. A little girl with dark curls and wide eyes took in everything around her in wonder. A boy that looked to be about the same age as himself kept his gaze trained on the floor indifferently, a shock of chestnut hair falling into his eyes; hands stuffed into his pockets.
Liam twisted back and forth on the stool in excitement, nearly tumbling out of it as he did.
“Careful there young master!” The pastry chef caught him before he could fall.
“Sorry!” Liam exclaimed as he twisted out of her grasp, his head spinning to keep track of the children, “Who are they? I want to go say hi! Can I?”
“Certainly!” She laughed as she released him and watched as he sprinted across the travertine tile.
The group had moved into the formal dining room when Liam caught up with them, skidding around a corner and colliding directly with the head of the King’s Guard. “Ooof! Sorry!”
“It’s alright,” Captain Sullivan helped him to his feet, “What’s the big hurry?”
“I wanted to meet the kids!” Liam ducked his head, suddenly a little shy, “Who are they? What are they doing here?”
“Okay, okay, slow down!” The captain laughed, “I’ll introduce you! Your Highness, this is the newest member of the guard, Jackson Walker, his wife Bianca and their children, Drake and Savannah. Everyone, this is Prince Liam.”
Liam sucked in a breath of surprise; he knew that some members of the guard lived at the palace. He felt like he was about to explode with excitement. Please let them live here, he prayed furiously. Out loud he said, “I’m very pleased to meet you.”
“And we’re very pleased to meet you,” Jackson shook his hand.
The girl shoved her way in front of her parents, a look of awe on her face, “Are you an honest to God, real life prince?”
“I am.” Liam grinned at her.
“It’s nice to meet you Liam,” Bianca told him before pushing the boy forward, “Isn’t it Drake? Can you say hi to the prince?”
Drake shuffled forward awkwardly, lifted his eyes to Liam’s face for a moment then dropped them as he mumbled, “Hi.”
“Can they come play with me?” Liam directed the question to the adults, lacing the fingers of both hands through each other as he pleaded, “Pleeeeease?”
“Oh, yes!” Savannah squealed, clapping her hands as she jumped up and down, adding her pleas to his, “Can we please?”
“I think that would be okay,” Jackson replied, “What you think, son? Would you like to go play with Liam?”
The sullen faced little boy lifted his copper and gold flecked eyes again and found Liam’s face. Drake’s determination to hate everything about this new place faltered a little as saw the genuine excitement bubbling over in the other child. “I guess that would be okay. What do you want to do?”
“Yes!” Liam jumped up into the air with joy, “We can play whatever you want! Hide and seek, or tag in the gardens, we have board games, video games, we could ride bicycles if we get the nannies to supervise us or we could play sword fighting-“
“You have swords?” Drake’s eyes widened with interest.
“Wooden ones but-“
“Can I dad?” Drake turned to Jackson hopefully.
“Yes, go on. We’ll come find you later.” Jackson squeezed Bianca’s hand as they watched their children scurry down the hall with the prince. Relief flooded his wife’s features, mirroring his own. Drake had been the child they had been most worried about adjusting to the move, but he seemed to be warming to the place already.
“What’s it like being a prince and living in a palace?” Savannah asked as she hurried to keep up with the older boys.
“Boring,” came the instant reply.
“Really?” Savannah sounded disappointed.
Drake laughed and Liam’s smile broadened at the sound as he elaborated, “The other kids in the palace are all older than me and no one ever wants to play.”
He was lonely.
“Drake comes up with all the best games,” Savannah told him.
“Is that right?”
“That’s right,” Drake agreed, “Where is this playroom you’re taking us to?”
“Fifth door on the left,” Liam pointed down a long hallway.
“Race you,” Drake grinned at him, “Winner gets to pick his sword first!”
“Okay-“ Liam started to agree but Drake was already sprinting down the hall. It only took a second for Liam to realize what was happening and tear off after him.
The three children tumbled through the playroom door panting and shrieking with laughter.
Drake collapsed onto the floor in purposeful exaggeration as he gasped, “I’m dying….but I won!”
“You cheated you mean!” Liam laughed as he dropped onto the ground next to him.
“It wasn’t cheating,” Drake corrected him, “It’s called gaining a tactical advantage!”
Liam was used to other children being awkward around him, letting him win games or actively trying to avoid playing with him, because of his status. The young prince was absolutely delighted by this new playmate’s utter lack of concern about his title.
Drake had been convinced that the princes would be stuffy, stuck up and boorish. He was thrilled to be proven wrong. He hadn’t wanted to move, yet again. He hadn’t wanted to give up his friends, yet again. His father had promised that this duty station was more permanent. He had been determined not to get attached to anything or anyone, but as they staged epic battles with the wooden swords, of which Liam had let him claim the best one, he found the heaviness that had sat in his chest since his parent’s had announced this move starting to loosen.
The boys quickly became inseparable.
In the weeks and months that followed, Liam became less somber, at least around Drake. He was still a serious, thoughtful child, but he had a quicker smile as Drake drew out his playful side. Drake became less guarded, at least around Liam. He was still a slow to warm up child, but he turned outward a little more as Liam gained his trust.
“Drake seems to be adjusting well,” Eleanor remarked as a maid set the tea service in front of her.
“He is!” Bianca agreed happily, “It’s been four months and he seems completely back to normal! I think it’s because of Liam, honestly.”
Eleanor nodded with a smile on her lips as she blew on her tea to cool it, “Liam is so happy to have a playmate of his own. He’s a different child now. I think this friendship is good for both of them.”
The two women turned to watch as the boys raced through the gardens, shouts and laughter filtering through the late morning air. It was a beautiful day, the children were happy and for the moment, all was well in Cordonia.

I Hope you like it. Thank you to all who read and reblogged and for all the kind words.
Tradition
This throws the book right out of canon, first part is how the night of Coronation should have gone down. From there it’s just fluff.
Liam and Riley have just returned from their walk in the Maze  after they both confessed their love for each other in time for his father to call him to the Dias for his Crowning. As Liam stands listening to his father asking him of his devotion to Crown and Country, his mind wanders to the woman who has captured his heart, he vowed to her to always love her and keep her safe, from that first meeting in her rundown bar to the moment now he has kept that promise, now was the time to tell the world and his Country about his love for her.
“ And now I pass the royal Signet ring to the new King. Ladies and Gentlemen of the court it is my honor and privilege to present to you His Majesty King Liam long may he reign, and now my son who do you pick for your Queen?” Applause for the new king  was drowned out by the beeping of cell phones with Breaking News. Riley felt two sets of strong arms on her as Drake,Max and Olivia flanked her, Liam’s eyes never leaving her sight, his hands balled into fist’s. “ Son you must choose, anyone but Lady Riley, she has been taken out of competition” From the Dias Liam kept his eyes locked on her, he stood straight squared his shoulders and in his new found King voice he directed his voice to the guards holding onto Lady Riley. “ Release her,as your King I demand you release her now!” “ Liam what are you doing she has caused a scandal she is pictured with another in her undergarments, this is not proper behavior for….” “I AM KING SHE IS MY CHOICE she was framed and I will work to find out who did this to us and by God if it comes back to you it will not go down well,Lady Riley will you join me please?” Drake and Max followed not far behind until she was at the steps, Liam reached for her hand and helped escort her to his side.
**************** 3 months later***************************
A newly married King could not put into words he felt having the woman who had captured his heart standing beside him awaiting for the announcement into the ballroom for their reception. With a squeeze on her hand that was linked with his, he gives her a wide brilliant smile, as she looks up into his bright blue eyes that helped calm her, she smiled wide back at him. The double doors opened as the Herald announced them.
*************** 5 years married**************************
The Ballroom was so quiet you could hear a pin drop as the King and Queen spun around the dance floor to their wedding song. 4 year old Eleanore came running onto the dance floor squeezing between her parents tugging on her daddy’s leg. “ Daddy, daddy Teach me to dance like you and mommy?” Liam released his wife with a kiss on the cheek and extended his large hand to his daughter’s smaller one and proceed to glide her along the dance floor, but her small frame to his larger one did not work well, so he lifted her to his feet to which she giggled as he then proceeded to again glide her to the music. Not a dry eye was to be had that night.
************ 10 years married****************************
All eyes were on the King and Queen dancing to their wedding song, when from the side of the room came a 9 year old Eleanor wedging her way through her parents, to dance with her father. She removed her shoes to stand on his feet as he held her hands and twirled her around the floor for their dance.
***************25 years married*************************
The King Father and Queen Mother sat on the Dias looking out onto the dance floor as Queen Eleanor danced with her new husband. She caught her father’s eyes as he swiped a fallen single tear with a smile as he held his wife's hand. She called her Mother and Father to join them on the dance floor. Halfway through the dance Eleanor took off her shoes and handed them to her husband, she walked over to her parents and slipped between them and stood on her father's shoes to finish the dance.
**************50 years married************************
Queen Mother Eleanor and the King Father Regent sat on the Dias overlooking the Celebration of the Love that was shared between her parents as they danced to their wedding song from all those years ago. A smile tugged on the Queen Mother’s face as she saw a flash of blonde hair in a white dress and bare feet run onto the dance floor and wedged herself between her great grandpa and great grandma tugging on his pant leg, looking up into his blue eyes, “ Pro Pappous, Pro Pappous teach me to dance like you and Pro Giagi” Liam released his wife’s hand with a kiss on the cheek and extended his large hand to his great granddaughter’s smaller one and proceed to glide her along the dance floor, but her small frame to his larger one did not work well, so he lifted her to his feet to which she giggled as he then proceeded to again glide her to the music. Not a dry eye was to be had that night.

The Start of Forever
Premise: The Prince always knew his duty would require sacrifice, but no one told his heart that.
Book: The Royal Romance Pairing: Liam x MC (Phoebe Summers) Rating/Category: General. Angsty Fluff. Words: 810
A/N: Some of you know, Liam is my favorite Choices LI [I changed the default name to Aiden]. I don't typically write for TRR, but the @kingliamappreciationweek inspired me to write this fic. This is for Day 5. Enjoy! I'm using @choicesflashfics week 29, prompt 2 (in bold) and @creativepromptsforwriting prompt 362. Tagging for reblog to @creativepromptfills. Also submitting to @aprilchallenge prompt "wish"
Tumblr media
Prince Aiden Rys had not grown up believing love was a possibility in his future. He might have wished for it -- in the darkest part of the night when his thoughts were too loud for him to sleep — and secretly hoped he could fall in love with the woman he would marry.
But believe? No. That required more than he had to give. And he had already given up so much. And yet. For a few hours last night, he fell in love and believed in the possibility of forever.
Aiden glanced at the digital clock on the bedside table, ubiquitous to hotel rooms everywhere, and locked his hands behind his head on the pillow. He should get up and get dressed. But he did none of those things. Wanting to prolong these fleeting moments of freedom for as long as he could.
Bastien would knock on his door in a couple of hours, reverential but unyielding, as he shepherded Aiden to the airport. The bodyguard’s presence would mark the end of this interlude and the beginning of the next: Cordonia’s social season and selecting his future queen.
But the Masquerade Ball was still hours away, and Aiden was not ready for reality to intrude just yet.
Earlier tonight, he arrived at the address Maxwell had texted him. Aiden hadn’t known what to expect from what appeared to be a dive bar. But knowing his exuberant friend, he’d had trepidations. At the same time, he hoped Drake would keep the younger Beaumont brother in check.
Okay, somewhat in check, Aiden laughed silently. Very few people in this world had the power to control Maxwell.
All his reservations went out the door the moment he saw her. The ugly uniform couldn’t detract from the beauty of her heart-shaped face and soulful blue eyes framed by long black hair, the front of which was arranged in a complicated braid.
One could argue there were more beautiful and sophisticated women at Court. But at that moment, Aiden was hard-pressed to name a single one of them, let alone remember what they looked like.
All he could think was, finally. There you are. Quickly followed by not her, not now.
He couldn’t fall in love just when he had accepted what he must do for the good of his kingdom. The people of Cordonia deserved a monarch who placed duty, the honor of sacrifice and love for one’s country ahead of everything else.
Aiden hoped he would one day be worthy of Cordonia’s storied legacy.
But tonight, just for a few hours more, he wasn’t a king or a prince. He was just Aiden. A man that craved freedom even as he embraced his responsibilities.
During dinner, he’d tried to hide his feelings, but his eyes followed Phoebe every chance they got. He hoped he’d been surreptitious in his admiration, but he’d never been in love.
Drake had given him a look that told Aiden he wasn’t being his usual stoic self. After that, he’d turned his attention to the deluxe burgers, listening absently to Maxwell’s tall tales and ignoring Tariq’s snide remarks about the food and the establishment.
Later, Aiden walked up to Phoebe, apologized for his friends’ boorish behaviors and racked his brain for an excuse to stay in her orbit a while longer.
Luckily he remembered Maxwell’s earlier comment about wanting to try a New York City nightclub, and things progressed from there. The flashing lights held no appeal for him, but sharing a drink with Phoebe and telling her his secret had felt freeing.
The whole night had been a lesson in spontaneity, from Phoebe arranging a private boat tour of the Statue of Liberty to that unexpected kiss just as the cloud cover broke and the stars sparkled above them like so much fairy dust.
They only realized they were holding hands the entire time, the moment they had to let go as the boat docked at the pier. They disembarked, turning to face each other, the Manhattan skyline rising behind them, both uncertain about what came next. But knowing instinctively this was it. There was no next.
That’s all they were now. A memory. A faded picture. A failed potential. Two people, right for each other, who’d met at the wrong time.
If only, thought Aiden, shoving the covers aside, swinging his legs off the bed and forcing himself to let go.
He might be a prince, but he’d always known his life was not a fairy tale.
When the knock came on his door, as he’d known it would, he glanced at the man in the mirror one last time. One who’d been free to kiss the woman he loved on a starry night under the watchful eye of the ultimate symbol of freedom.
And he said goodbye to what could never be.

Day 5 of King Liam Appreciation Week: Friendships/Relationships/AU
Tumblr media
A huge thank you to @sazanes for drawing one of my all time favorite scenes from TRR book 1. When I first read TRR, and came across this scene, I hoped someone would draw it or that I somehow could 😅 thankfully, I now know about commissions and Sabrina did a magnificent job at capturing the scene referenced below:

KLAW | DAY 3 - Foodie/Baklava
Listen, I had to. And I used Barbie and not Ken because I don't understand why people don't realize that point is that Barbie can do anything and Ken is just Ken.
Anyway, Liam's love of baklava is well-known. For him, all baklava is good baklava. You cannot make him choose between regional variations because he finds the good in all of them. He tries to get his children to love baklava as much as he does, but it only sticks with Gabriel, his second oldest. They like to sneak down to the kitchen and have some when no one's looking.

Comfortable
Book: The Royal Romance/Heir Pairing: Liam Rys x MC (Jade) Rating: G Word count: 1190 Reading time: ~5min Summary: During the royal couple's honeymoon, Liam receives a request from his wife that will give her a chance to see a bit more of the King's carefree side and a hidden skill. Based on the prompt: @kingliamappreciationweek day three: foodie/baklava
Author’s note:
Jade Bourbon is a creation of this author. The others characters are owned by Pixelberry Studios;
I've been dying to write Liam cooking since he told MC he can cook. And I know he said that while they were traveling to US and not during their honeymoon, but at this point, who cares about following canon anyway? 🤭
Thank you @lizzybeth1986 and @sazanes for hosting another King Liam Appreciation Week. I'll gladly take any opportunities to write Liam ❤
Tumblr media
A salty breeze caressed Liam's face as he flipped the pages of Cordonia's most prestigious newspaper while waiting for his wife to join him. These first few days of honeymoon had been like a stepping into paradise. He couldn't deny it was partially because Jade asked him not to read or watch the news, or think too much about work. However, he wasn't sure if he knew how to disconnect from himself from royal duties for too long.
He scoffed and shook his head. Reading the news wasn't work. He simply wanted to know what was going on in the world, like any regular person would do. There was no harm in that.
"Thank you, Javier! Have a nice day!" Jade beamed as she hung up the phone and approached Liam, leaning over to kiss Liam's cheek.
The king put down the newspaper to study his wife's features for a moment. "You seem giddy."
"I am," Jade said as she sat on Liam's lap and encircled an arm around his neck. "Javier just left with his wife, but he confirmed the pantry and fridge are fully stocked again with everything we need."
"That's good news. I see you already have something in mind for our lunch."
She nodded with a grin.
"What's the menu, my love?"
"Do you remember when the chef made us pasta alla norma for dinner three days ago and you said you knew how to make a mean spaghetti alla carbonara?"
"I do."
"Do you also remember you said we'd have more time alone together without the entire royal staff breathing on our necks?"
"Hm… I see where this conversation is going…"
"Good. Because we are all alone now and the chef already left everything ready for you to prepare us pasta carbonra."
"Did he?" He arched an eyebrow.
"He insisted on staying to cook, of course. But I assured him His Royal Majesty is fully capable of making a mean carbonara," she said, toying with the collar of his shirt.
The king chuckled. "As usual, you make a very compelling speech, my queen."
"Thank you." Jade kissed the tip of his nose, stood up, then reached for Liam's hands. "Now will you leave that newspaper behind and march that beautiful hiney of yours to the kitchen to prepare lunch for us?"
"Now? But I haven't read the international news section yet."
The queen narrowed her eyes and snatched the newspaper from his hand. "You're not supposed to read anything involving news. How did you get ahold of this anyway?"
"I don't know…" He gave his shoulders, feigning innocence. "It was right here next to a glass of grape juice when I came out here."
"It was Bastien, wasn't it? Ugh…"
Liam stood up, hiding a smile as he kissed her temple. "Let's not think about this now… How about we go to the kitchen and gather everything for our lunch?"
"Fine… It's not like he's here so I can kick him in the shins…" Jade grumbled.
Chuckling, the king then guided his wife to the kitchen.
As soon as the couple walked in, Liam inspected the ingredients neatly arranged on the counter, got an apron and fished his cellphone out his pocket to search for the pasta carbonara recipe just in case he forgot anything.
"I guess the chef did leave everything ready…" Jade glanced at the grated parmesan cheese and pancetta already chopped.
"He did." Liam placed his phone on a holder and reached for the pepper mill to season the egg yolks.
"Aw…" The queen frowned slightly. "I was hoping to help."
"You can prepare us a salad," Liam said he mixed the eggs, parmesan and pepper with a fork.
"I can do that."
As the king placed the bowl with the eggs mixture aside to turn on the stove burner, the sound of his wife huffing in annoyance reached his ears. "Is something wrong?"
"The chef left us a Caesar salad and dessert."
"You could make us something to drink," he suggested. "It's unfair that even Bertrand had a chance to drink a cocktail you made."
"Is it?" She asked, kissing his cheek. "I'll prepare us as many cocktails you want, love. How about margaritas?"
"Excellent choice, my darling!" He answered as he inspected the consistency of the pasta.
As the king busied himself with flavouring the oil with garlic then stirring the pancetta, he sensed a pair of attentive brown eyes gazing at him. He had lost count of how many times his eyes followed her every move. Jade was a fascinating woman. How couldn't he? Yet, it didn't occured to him she would do the same.
"You know your way around the kitchen," she began.
"I do. I used to watch my mother cooking sometimes. She liked cooking. And she was really good at it."
"Oh?"
"She made all kinds of homemade food. Soup, pasta, pie, cake… Everything she cooked smelled so good. It was impossible to resist peeking," he mused while tossing the spaghetti into the pan for it to absorb the flavour of the pancetta before placing it aside again.
"I get the feeling," she mumbled as she gazed at him and idly rubbing a wedge of lime on the rim of a coupe glass.
"How are our margaritas going?"
The queen was suddenly pulled out of trance and turned her attention to the drink. After dipping the glass into a plate with salt, she added a few ice cubes to the cocktail shaker, closed it and began to shake it.
"Almost done!"
"I see." A smile played on his lips as he seasoned the cooking water with pepper then added the eggs mixture.
"Hey, I can multitask!" Jade protested.
Her eyes then followed Liam adding more cooking water and gently cooking the mixture until it looked glossy.
"I just never seen you do anything like this before…"
"Setting up a tent for you in the French Alps doesn't count?" He asked, glancing at his wife from the corner of his eye as he placed the spaghetti back into the frying pan to coat it with the mixture.
"This is different."
"How?"
"I don't know… You look so focused, but at the same time, relaxed."
His brows went up in response. Very few people knew he could prepare some dishes. It was odd, yet surprising, that in just a few minutes she already knew how comfortable he was whenever he cooked.
"I am relaxed now that it's finally ending and we didn't end up with scrambled eggs and pasta instead."
Giggling, Jade encircled her arms around him, resting her head on his back. "I still think you did amazing. The pasta already smells heavenly."
"Thank you, my love." He lifted one of her hands to his lips to kiss it. "I hope you like how it tastes. I haven't cooked for anyone in a long time."
"Really?"
"I think Leo still was the crown prince when I made us pain perdu after a Beaumont Bash to celebrate Maxwell's birthday."
"How did you even manage to follow a recipe after a Beaumont Bash?"
"One glass of water for every glass of any alcoholic beverage."
"Very wise of you."
"I have my moments."
The couple shared knowing look and laughed.
"Are our margaritas ready?"
"Just waiting for us to set up the table and dig in."
Once he finally added more cheese to the pasta, the royal couple set up the kitchen island for lunch, took their seats and clung their glasses of margarita before starting their meal.

IF ONLY..
Book: The Royal Romance
Characters: Queen Eleanor and Prince Liam
Form: Fan-art
Rating: General
A/N: For @moodmusicmonday Luck of the Draw! My inspo song was Hollow as a Bone by Cowboy Junkies. You may say i am killing two birds with one stone. 🙈 I am also submitting this for Day 4 : Family/Childhood for @kingliamappreciationweek .
The lyrics of this song made me think of little Liam:
He could not help but hang his eyes
her beauty held him so
If this was not a state of Grace
then Grace he'd never know
Tumblr media
And then came to my mind, the battle Queen Eleanor was fighting alone towards the end
She hugged his head so hard to her heart
it made her gasp for air
If this was not the way Love felt
then for love she did not care
I want to run beside a moving train
yelling farewells in the rain
The tears will be bittersweet,
'cause I know I'll see him again
If I lost you now,
I would feel as hollow as a bone
The pain she must be going through
Tumblr media
The worries engulfing her
Tumblr media
Hope you all like it.

KLAW DAY 1: CHARACTER APPRECIATION
Inspired by the OC Aesthetic Template put forward by @choicesfandomappreciation for "Encourage A Writer" Week, I managed to create this cute aesthetic for Liam!
Tumblr media
Colour that Represents Him: Blue. It's one of Cordonia's national colours, and both he and his wife Esther have a personal preference for the colour. Though Esther loves lighter and more pastel shades of it and Liam goes for darker ones!
Flower/Plant you Associate With Him: I've put up a blue Aster, as it is the national flower of Cordonia in my HC, but I personally view him as loving roses. They are his favourite flower.
Hobbies He Enjoys: My personal HC is that he has loved baking since he was a child and continues to bake as a stressbuster. Specifically breads.
Natural Elements He Relates To: Definitely water. To me he is Aquarius born which is a water sign, and even though he's had a fear of the sea and of sailing since the incident where Drake saved him from a capsizing boat, Liam was born near the bay at the Capitol, loves the Forgotten Falls, and views seafood as his ultimate comfort food.
Quote: I view Liam as a man of monuments - he is a king who recognises the legacy that came before him and wants to leave a different one for his descendants and his people. He is a man who believes art and culture are markers of a society that thrives, not just survives. He is also aware that there needs to be a balance between what his ideals for his nation are and what is needed it to keep it strong and thriving.
Anything Else that Makes You Think of Liam:
- History Tomes. I like to think that if Liam weren't royalty, he would be an incredible Historian.
- The Statue of Liberty. As I mentioned earlier, Liam loves monuments. But the Statue of Liberty is special to him because it is a very personal memory...the memory of a very precious moment shared with Esther, the woman who would eventually become his wife and the love of his life 💕💕💕

King Liam Appreciation Week Day 1: Character Appreciation/Throwbacks
Tumblr media
Liam Rys, my first Choices love 🥰 Incredible man, friend, husband and father... For day 1 of @kingliamappreciationweek, I thought I would share some fics that I have written that I believe highlight Liam's character. Fiercely loyal, loving, supportive, protective and self-less, it's no wonder this handsome pixel has charmed so many of our hearts!
Happy KLAW Everyone!
Special thanks to our hosts @lizzybeth1986 and @sazanes! Thank y'all for putting this together for us! 😘
More Than Flashing Lights & Sound
“I--I promised you a better life, Ri. Better than this.” Tears begin to stream down his face. “I--I couldn’t save you. I--” he sighs, “I can’t save you--”
Boughs & Mockingbirds
“I don’t know what the right answer is anymore; all I know is I am terrified, and I wish you would respect that. Just for once.” Liam drags his fingers through his hair, walking in an aimless circle, his anger burning. He turns his attention back to Riley. “You know? That’s not just your baby; this is not just your life. You’re my wife! That’s my child!”
Pour Two Glasses
"To my queen, my love, my very best friend... I know you worry about doing your best, and often times wonder if you are adequate enough for the calling as my queen... You are anything, but just adequate. You, my queen, are abundantly able, completely sufficient, surpassing every need and desire perfectly with unbelievable beauty and exquisite grace. The crown should be honored that a woman like you humbled herself, and chose to wear it. To my wife and eternal peacekeeper: thank you for making tonight possible. I love you."
A Ballroom Blitz
“... please welcome Drake, thirty days sober.”
... Drake bites his lip, fidgeting with the trinket in his palm. As he finally looks out into the crowd, a sudden crooked smile grows across his face.
