Candied Kira

Note: This is a shorter rougher piece as am slowly getting back into writing but I love the concept >:3c

Kira grits their teeth as the Collector bounces them up and down with the chain connected to their waist, forcing air out of their lungs with each bounce.

“How much longer?” She groans, boredom starting to irritate her. 

“It’s ready. “ The coworker says, standing at the stove in the break room. “I’m not fucking touching that thing though.”

“That’s fine, just get me some ice water.” She gets up with a final yank on the chain, getting an audible wheeze out of the fairy. “I hope you like sweets, Mosquito.” 

Kira puts their hands on the chain in an attempt to catch their breath. “I prefer.. Sour things.” They wheeze.

“Well, that’s too bad then. I’m a fan of candied things.” 

It’s then that they see it, they’re being dangled over a pot of bubbling boiling melted sugar, dark enough that they can’t tell if it’s going to caramelize or if it’s burnt. All they know is that it’s hot even from this high up. 

The heat scratches at their skin, feeling like the tickle of poison ivy with the urge to itch promptly following. It’s enough to make them squirm. “You’re not thinkin-”

“Hold your breath.” The Collector orders, quickly lowering her hand towards the pot. 

The plunge into the boiling sugar wasn’t nearly as fast as being plunged into water, it’s thick and clings to their skin and clothes. The molten sugar starts to make quick work of melting away at Kira’s skin, their screams form even more bubbles in the liquid as their mouth is filled. 

“Here’s that water.” Her coworker says, sliding the bowl of ice water on the counter beside the stove.

“Perfect timing.”

As they’re pulled out of the liquid, they try to spit out the sugar and attempt to wipe it off of themself, but it continues to cling. Air struggled to reach their lungs, their mouth, nose, and throat burned as the sugar started to cool and web in their airways. 

Before they knew it, they’re being submerged in something else, the burning hot sugar rapidly started to cool and harden. The thick layer made it difficult to move their limbs, with exception of their wings that flutter in a weak attempt to get out of the water. 

Once their wings started to slow down as they started to become light-headed, the Collector pulls them out of the water. “Now, I can’t have you passing out until I get at least two more layers.” She says.

More pain spreads across their face as their nose is squeezed to break the candied sugar on it, their skin is peeled off along with the pieces of sugar; just enough to allow air back into their tiny lungs. 

The candy cracked more as they take a full breath of air, blood starts to flow through the cracks. 

They only know that they’re back over the pot of sugar by the feeling of heat on their wings.

oh my god this one's funny, it's Gettin Bi, and it's from a Crazy Ex-Girlfriend episode. i'll be honest i don't know the slightest thing about that show – i discovered the song during my great Sexuality CrisisTM a few years ago, and this probably sounds stupid but it has genuinely helped me to deal with things?? like it's fun, it's over the top, but it's also just no big deal and i was listening to it and went. yeah. ok. it really doesn't have to be a big deal :) so yeah. feeling very nostalgic about this one actually flksjdf
