Chapter 16: “Trouble”  summary:

Adrien stopped right next to the witcher and looked him over carefully, as if he wanted to make sure he was okay. The witcher expected to feel angry at the sight of the prince, still remembering yesterday's incident, but instead he felt that persistent, dull ache in his chest again, as if an invisible hand was trying to crush his heart. It wasn't anger, or even irritation. It was a longing, and Kiyan looked away, trying to push the unwanted feeling deep into his subconscious so that it could perish there.

He woke up to Hilargi lipping at his hair. The mare tended to do that when she sensed something was wrong with Kiyan. The witcher sat up in his bed of hay and cursed softly under his breath as he saw the sun through the window. He had overslept, which was a clear sign  that his body was re-directing its energy to heal the newly opened wound. The pain, radiating strongly now that he was awake and aware of it, suggested that the internal damage was still severe. His liver was still regenerating, so taking a potion wasn’t an option. Liver injuries were incredibly inconvenient. Kiyan hated wasting time, and the pain slowed him down and weakened him. And that, in turn, was dangerous.

The witcher went to the well and hauled buckets of water for the horses and himself. The effort made his side shriek with agony, but Kiyan stubbornly ignored the problem.

Although Kiyan had personally overslept, it was still early to the regular inhabitants of Oxenfurt, so he was surprised to hear a commotion outside the inn as he was pulling his shirt back on after washing up in the bucket and changing his dressings. Kiyan heard Titus' indignant voice and walked out of the stables to see what was happening.

"Who the fuck brought the kid?" the outraged captain was asking the newly arrived support from Drahim Castle. It seemed that Mislav had kept his word and handed the letter to Klemens, and the prince's guards had rushed to Oxenfurt immediately.

"Nobody brought him,” the senior guard replied wearily, “he followed us against my orders." He pushed Gisbert forward in front of Titus. "Now, explain to the captain why you disobeyed an order."

"I was worried," the boy said. "The messenger who brought the letter said that almost all the guards had been killed, and that Olaf and Master Kiyan were seriously injured. I wanted to help because it's a serious situation--"

"And it’s precisely because the situation is serious that you shouldn't be here! I don't have time to babysit you!" Titus rebuked him, and Kiyan saw the annoyed grimace on the boy's face. It was the first time the witcher had seen him showing his anger so openly.

"Nobody would have to babysit me if you would finally start to take me seriously," the kid replied. "How am I supposed to learn to deal with these kinds of situations when you always keep me away from them? I’m also one of the prince's guards, and I want to finally fully deserve this title!"  

"Don't talk back to me, boy!" Titus turned red with anger and raised his open hand to hit Gisbert. Before Kiyan could think about what he was doing, his fingers folded themselves to cast a sign.

Chapter 6: “Headstrong”  summary:

Adrien had never imagined that he would ever insist on Kiyan leaving his bedroom. For now, however, he needed a moment to collect his dignity, because the witcher had seriously abused it. If the prince hadn't had such a hangover, he would have been furious. Just because he liked him didn't mean he would let Kiyan walk all over him. The witcher forgot his place.

Wow, this is already Chapter 6! This one is short but important because it's time to stir the cauldron of intrigue! Though we will take our time, we also want to give Kiyan and Adrien time to deepen their bond, even though they are now mostly on a course to the misunderstandings. But arguing will quickly become one of their favorite games.

When setting up some headcanons I always liked to play with incorrect quotes and finally @gavilansblog​ decided we needed a separate space for that. Adrien knew waking up with a hangover wasn't the most pleasant thing, but he had not anticipated that this morning would be one of the worst awakenings in his life. He heard  Klemens yelling indignantly outside his door, but he decided to ignore it and pulled his pillow over his head to block out the unwanted noise. This was his first mistake.

Moments later, his pillow was brutally taken from him, and when he let out a sharp growl in protest, he was doused unexpectedly in cold water. This made him immediately sit up in bed and open his mouth to curse. Second mistake.

Kiyan splashed the rest of the water from the jug right into the prince's face and his open mouth just as he gasped, and Adrien choked.

"How dare you!" shouted a shocked Klemens behind the witcher's back, but Kiyan was unfazed about it, leveling a murderous gaze at the coughing prince.

"His Lordship is awake?" the witcher asked sharply. He held up the jug in his other hand. "If not, I can serve you your morning coffee as well."

"I'm awake," Adrien choked, and instinctively nodded his head to show that he was awake, though he still had trouble understanding this absurd reality. But he knew one thing - his breakfast coffee was hot, and he really didn't want any boiling liquid poured over his head.

"Great," Kiyan said dryly, setting both jugs aside. "So since I have your attention, you will kindly explain to me what the scholars from the Oxenfurt Academy are doing downstairs."

"My prince, please forgive me, I tried to stop him, but —" Klemens began to explain, but Adrien silenced him with a gesture.

"It's all right, Klemens, I understand," said the prince, pressing his hands against his eyes, trying to physically push the throbbing pain out of his head. "Please leave us alone."

The majordomo hesitated visibly before obeying. He set the prince's breakfast tray on the table and obediently left the room.

"You have some nerve, you know," Adrien said finally, irritated, when they were alone. "Do you realize I could have you hanged for this?"

"And do you realize how lucky you were that I didn't choose to pour hot coffee over your head?" the witcher replied immediately. "Why didn't you tell me the scholars were coming today?"

Gen1

Chocolate Chip (Chippy) - bleblesscra cat that Blez brought in secretly at first, but Jess found Chippy chilling in the bathroom. Chippy is very affectionate and clingy. She's brown and white. Her favorite people are Jess, Blez, and Kaya (which is funny cause Kaya hates furry animals)

Kira 2.0 - Logan's dog he adopted after his first one died (also named Kira). She's a hyper german shepherd, and is super attached to Logan. She thinks she's a lap dog.

Kaneki - Michael's blue maine coon. He named him Kaneki after the protag in tokyo ghoul. Notorious food thief.

Robin - a mischievous and playful fox. His name was something Michael suggested. He's very fond of Avery, to the point where Zenn jokes that Robin might as well be Avery's pet.

Rigby - the Celieday raccoon. He's an asshole to everyone but Celieday. He can be pretty destructive at times, as well as a food thief. His favorites are strawberries and cheez its

Ligma - jase's egyptian mau mix. He thought it would be funny at the time to name her that. She avoids Jase and Zeon, and sometimes will destroy or pee on their things. She is very fond of Kael, Blee, and Sacra. Ligma can seem to sense when Jase really needs the comfort, tho, because she will climb all over him when he's sad

Vernon - Adrien's crested gecko. Alora and Adrien Jr picked out his name. Vernon doesn't have much of a personality, he's just vibing

Gen2

Lars - the fluffy grey and white cat Grant adopted shortly after moving out of his sister's house. Grant named him Lars bc of his metallica obsession. Lars is unpredictable. He can be very sweet sometimes, then very mean at other times. He seems to dislike Damon the most, and other than Grant, his favorite people are Jase, Venus, and then later on Devon.

Nightmare - Arvid's tarantula he got in sixth grade. Scarlette and Sebastian call Nightmare "Pudding" because Arvid hates when they do that. Arvid says that his name is Nightmare because he will live inside other people's nightmares once they take over the world, but he actually initially called him that because Arvid suffered from frequent nightmares at the time and he hoped Nightmare's presence would help fight them off.

Shelby - Arianna's dog. She originally wanted to adopt a cat, but none of the cats at the shelter really stood out to her. When she looked at the dogs, Shelby did stand out to her. She doesn't really know why. Shelby is a german shepherd boxer lab mix. He's super loveable and protective over Arianna, but he also stays by Sacra's side a lot too.

Lola - Casey's german sheprador he adopted after moving into his own place. She's his emotional support animal, and helps keep Casey calm.

Pink Lemonade - Harrison's little white mouse. He originally got her to impress Venus after Galatea convinced him Venus liked mice. He was going to get rid of Lemonade when he found out Venus didn't actually like mice, but Kat convinced him to keep her and they both take care of Lemonade together

Lucky - Blezbian's black cat. She found her injured in the street, and she and Michael took her to the vet. She hadn't been chipped, and she wanted to adopt her. Michael agreed to let her. Blezbian called her Lucky ironically at first, but it stuck. She's very sweet but hates being picked up.

Roe - Cyra's corn snake. He's mostly just vibing but he's also an escape artist. Roe loves to chill on Cyra's head. She doesn't get to have Roe until much later, obviously.

Jenga and Sour Cream - Adrien Jr's red eye tree frogs. Jenga was named by Devon, while he was the one to name Sour Cream. He likes to make little hats and frog sized furniture for them.

A and X - Grant's two angelfish. He wasn't caring for them properly at first, but when Ezra moved in he kind of took over them by getting a better aquarium for them. A and X are basically Ezra's fish now

Loopy and Fresca - the black and white bunnies Arvid took in after he moves in with Izan (and Avery). Loopy was named by Izan, and Fresca was named by Avery. Loopy is very Odd. Fresca is a sweetheart.

Banshee - Josine's cream and white cat. She was named Banshee because she is Very Loud. She is of course very close to Zander, but she does not like Kiyan and Trioti. She also fights with any other cat she comes in contact with.

Beano - Kiyan's fluffy cream and white cat. He's a chaotic asshole that kills lots of smaller animals and brings them back to Kiyan and Jax. Beano tears up anything paper, and often knocks Kiyan's puzzle pieces around

Judy - Dallon's grey cat. She's also Zander's cat, technically.

Legato - a blue budgie that Adrien got for Alora. He's a very social and lively bird that loves to chill near Alora whenever possible. He can say some simple words and phrases like his own name, but I imagine Alora and Galatea also teach him to say weird shit too. he also says Arvie everytime he sees Arvid, and Alora gives him treats when he does

Bandit - Arvid's solid white cat. She's missing an eye, and she tends to be very nervous around everyone but Arvid and Scarlette. She is warming up to Izan, Amanda, and Fel. Arvid initially wanted to get a cat after he found out that Chuck had one, but he acquired many more reasons for why he wanted one. He convinced his parents, and they let him adopt a cat. Arvid declared her as his second evil sidekick.

Chapter 2 is finally here. This text turned out to be more difficult than I thought, and I've been having so much difficulty lately writing something that would satisfy me or be just simply good, so I hope that despite my struggles, you will find something positive in this text.

He woke up in a cold sweat, with a heavy heart and remorse the size of the Continent.

Adrien was sitting on the bed next to him, his face in his hands. He was crying.

Gods, what have I done ? Kiyan reached out to touch Adrien's shoulder.

"Don't--" Adrien flinched, and Kiyan's heart sank. Adrien got out of bed without looking at him. "I need air."

Before Kiyan could react, Adrien grabbed his loose night robe and left the room, closing the door behind him. Kiyan was left sitting alone in the absurdly large bed with no companion but his guilt. 

Adrien couldn't have known that Kiyan had been in his dream, that it was he who had ruined the meeting with his mother, tainting Adrien’s dream with his own fear. But the words of that dream, in the voice of Adrien’s mother whom he had missed for so long, had caused great damage all the same.

This is it, he’s finally realized what you really are, he’s going to leave you, Kiyan’s mind insisted. He flopped down on the silk sheets. The lurking panic was starting to take over his mind. It was getting harder and harder to breathe.

Not now , he told himself firmly. Right now, he had to take care of Adrien. He forced himself to get out of bed, still with that unbearable pressure in his chest, and follow Adrien.
