❌ What’s a trope you will never write?

✅ What’s something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don’t mean to?

Oh man...um... Music that I like? I tend to almost always name a popular song by name or lyrics, and it's usually something I'm either listening to at the time, inspired the fic, or just seems to fit at the moment. In Dark Side, Loki listened to a lot of Bach and classical music while studying (which I used to do), and Tony, obvs, listened to AC/DC and Aerosmith (I wrote a paper on Aerosmith, so they're a fave). In one WinterFrost fic, Loki is listening to a country song called Break Down Here by Julie Roberts after a breakup...yeah did that too. In another, Loki and Bucky are on a long car drive, and the music goes from Prince to Nirvana, two faves of mine as well. Music has always been a central element of my writing. Whether it's music I write by (*NSYNC were my first muses when I started writing fic in 2000, and I always listened to Xtina while writing), music that inspires the fic (nearly all my titles are song titles or lyrics), or music that fits the mood of what I'm writing.

🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.

Even tho I've kind of always been a storyteller, I didn't really start writing until I was about 18, after I discovered what fanfiction even was. I started writing bandfic with some self-insert characters (lol) and I did this for about three years. Until I met my first boyfriend who was kind of an Asshole and made me feel insecure about my burgeoning writing abilities and the fact that I was a big fandom person. When I started writing again in 2012, my fics featured different characters -- I swapped JC Chasez and an OC for Loki Laufeyson and Tony Stark -- but they were still pretty steeped in the same ideas -- finding love, losing love, cherishing friends. Relationships have always been the driving force of my writing. I credit my favorite author, Nora Roberts, for that. Bc yes, she writes romance (AMAZING romance), but she also includes other important relationships. I've been single myself for a long time, but I have four best friends and they've all been in my life for years. Twenty-four, twenty-two, 14 and 10 years to be exact. Those relationships are just as important as romantic ones. So that's what I try to convey in my fics. Also, the childhood besties to lovers is a trope I return to often.

4. Do you think your style has changed over time? How so? Oh absolutely! I think it's evolved with practice. I look at things I wrote a few years ago and some of them make me cringe. I think originally things were very basic just kind of dialogue driven without delving into the details. I wasn't giving the feeling and the tone or really playing up the environments in certain stories where it would serve to heighten the mood. Those are things that I've noticed. I'm probably too wordy at this point, but I just love those adding those little subtleties that maybe when I first started I didn't think about.

5. You’ve posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you’d written it? I had a 'reader' once tell me that I could post a fic under any name and they could spot it anywhere. I've been told I have a very distinct writing voice that could be pulled out of a lineup anywhere, which perhaps it could be because I use certain phrases that a person could detect was mine.

10. What’s a theme that keeps coming up in your writing? Found family. I have a few themes but that one has come up as well as I like writing about characters who have rough beginnings finding their way to happiness that maybe they couldn't have at a different point in their lives. I like people having some kind of joy after a lifetime of misery.

11. What kind of relationships are you most interested in writing? I like writing relationships where the characters aren't 'perfect'. Where they have a sense of realism and flaws and find their way to each other. I think the most important aspect of writing for me that I love exploring in characters is growth both as individuals and together in their relationship. I tend to write characters who are totally into each other, who are drawn to one another and just find something in each other that they can't find anywhere else. The dynamics of two people no matter who they are falling in love is always fun to play with in writing. Thanks for these! They were really fun!

One of the songs on Corroded Coffin’s latest album is a fun, upbeat rock song about doing stupid shit when you’re young. All four members contributed stories for it, as well as some of their friends, but while it was extremely fun to write, everyone just assumed it would fly under the radar.

We all know what they say about assuming.

The song quickly blew up upon the album’s release with audiences finding it funny and extremely relatable. The label quickly began promoting it as a single and a music video was ordered to be made.

While the guys had the initial idea of the video, which was to show each one of them taking turns doing the stupid stuff Eddie was singing about, the director took it a step further. The crew of MTV’s hit show Jackass are brought in both to ramp the situations up to ridiculous levels and execute them while Corroded Coffin performs in the background just slightly out of harm’s way.

Gareth, Jeff, and Grant are all hyped since they are big fans of the show, but it isn’t all that exciting for Eddie. He’s never seen it. The whole concept has always sounded stupid as hell to him, which is only reinforced every time someone makes him watch clips from it.

Even though you had consulted on a few technical aspects for the stunt choreography, you hadn’t been needed for the video initially. A frantic phone call from one of your producers changed that thought when they realized you had some of the safety gear they needed. Since this was vital equipment, the shoot had to be put on hold, so you quickly loaded it all up and high tailed it down there. You decided to stick around to help since they were a couple hours behind by the time you arrived.

Since you weren’t at the morning meeting when all the Jackass crew members were formally introduced to everyone on set, Eddie doesn’t recognize you and assumes you are just one of the few extras that recently arrived on set. But, regardless of who you are, he thinks you’re hot, and since performing always makes him horny, he decides you should be given the opportunity to help him relieve it.

But while Eddie doesn’t recognize you, you instantly recognize him as soon as he approaches you. You can hardly believe it when he immediately starts flirting with you. Though, calling it flirting is putting it mildly. Even though he’s being incredibly smooth about it, it’s obvious he has only one thing on his mind right now. You are perfectly okay with this, however. You weren’t about to turn down the opportunity to get railed by the lead singer of a band you really like, and so you return his advances. Once lunch is called, it doesn’t take long before the inevitable invitation slides from Eddie’s lips when you ask what his plans were.

“I usually go back to my trailer to eat,” he says, licking his lips at that last word as he lets his gaze slowly wander down your body again. “Care to keep me company?”

His voice dripped with honey, his tone making the warmth between your legs grow. You smiled, opened your mouth to accept his offer…

And then your friends struck.

It all happened extremely fast, and with all of Eddie’s attention on you, all he knew was, one minute, you were looking at him with the sort of bedroom eyes that had the blood flowing to his cock already, and then then next, your body lurched forward into his arms as you let out a bloodcurdling scream.

You immediately jumped away from the now stunned Eddie and whirled around. That’s when he saw a man running away from you both while laughing his ass off.

“Ryan, you motherfucker!” you roared before taking off after the man. “I’m gonna fuckin’ kill you!”

Confused, Eddie watched you running away until some wild, boisterous cheering caught his attention. He looked over to see a small group watching the whole fiasco that consisted of the other members of Corroded Coffin and a few of the guys from Jackass. They had a video camera out and were all roaring with laughter as they recorded you chasing the guy named Ryan around the video set.

“Sorry Eddie!” called Gareth through his laughter.

This drew everyone else’s attention to Eddie. The camera pivoted towards him as one of the guys, a man named Johnny, jogged over to him with a good natured, but cocky grin on his face.

“Yeah, sorry about cockblocking you back there, Eddie,” Johnny said, his voice sounding anything but sorry. “But, man, we owe you a big one for that, we’ve been trying to get them with the Taser Cam for MONTHS.”

The Taser Cam, as it turns out, was your idea initially and you oversaw the planning and execution. It was one of the most popular skits on the show and that’s because you were a sneaky little shit with it. Even though they all knew you could be packing a taser at any given moment, they all had a bad habit of letting their guard down around you.

Even though they’d been gunning for revenge for a while, all attempts to tase you in return had failed miserably. This wasn’t entirely a problem since you all had a healthy level of paranoia and distrust for each other by now, it was just highly annoying for them all. You always managed to work out when they were trying to set you up, even if it was at the last second.

So, when Gareth made an offhand comment to Jeff about Eddie trying to get his dick wet at work again, and drew Johnny’s attention, he saw how engrossed you were in the man, he couldn’t resist. This really was the perfect opportunity, your attention had been entirely on Eddie, and Johnny recognized this as their big chance.

Eddie was so dumbfounded by the whole thing, he wasn’t sure if he should be pissed or impressed.

In the end, he does get you stretched out on the couch of his trailer just like he wanted, only not in the way he expected. It was the closest place to lay you down at so the onsite EMTS could look at you. While you were perfectly fine from the tasing, you had tripped while running after Ryan and now you couldn’t put any weight on one of your feet.

“It doesn’t look like a break,” said one of the paramedics as she finished looking you over. “Probably just a bad sprain, but you should have some x-rays taken to be sure. Need us to take you?”

“Nah,” you said, shaking your head. “Tremaine will strangle me if I take an ambulance for a non-emergency again.”

Eddie blinked a few times in surprise while Johnny and Ryan laughed.

“Yeah, he’s already gonna explode when he hears about this,” Johnny said, taking off his sunglasses to wipe tears from his eyes. “You just got released yesterday.”

“Right?” you sighed as the paramedics let themselves out. “Wonder how much longer this is going to put me down for.”

The whole situation was so ridiculous that it had rendered Eddie speechless, thus he had been uncharacteristically quiet since your tasing. But the current conversation piqued his curiosity.

“Released?” he asked looking over at you.

“Yeah, by my doctor,” you said, nodding. “I’ve been off work for, what?” You looked over at Johnny. “Two months now?”

“Almost, yeah,” he said, nodding, then burst out laughing. “Man, Ehren’s gonna be pissed. This means you and Bam can’t do the boarding segment next week.”

You looked over at him with a raised eyebrow.

“Why would Ehren be pissed?” you asked, confused. “He’s not in that one.”

“No, he’s not,” said Johnny, and then a grin spread across his face that gave Eddie goosebumps. “But I think you being off with another injury is a good reason for all of us to be a little more safety conscious, wouldn’t you all agree?”

You and Ryan burst out laughing.

“Safety First!” the two of you then cried out in unison and Johnny clapped.

As badly as Eddie hated to admit it, you now fascinated him. Granted, he thought you were batshit insane at this point, but that only piqued his interest more. He ended up being thankful for the interruption.

With as thankful as he was for that, it didn’t compare to how thankful he was later when he found out exactly how close he came to getting tazed instead of you. Since they had to be so sneaky and quick about the whole thing, Ryan almost missed. One inch to the left and it would’ve been Eddie who received the jolt of electricity.

A few weeks later when Uncle Wayne found out who his nephew was dating now, he started going back to church.

Unlike Eddie, he actually does watch the show.

Eddie and I have moved our stuff in, but we didn't realize just how many things we don't have. We ate cereal for dinner standing next to the sink last night. We plugged up the sink and just poured a gallon of milk in there and went to town. But Dad fed me pretty much constantly so a hot meal would be really nice. That's all to say that we are having a house warming. Any family or customers can come by and give us stuff see us. Also, Kate burned up all the coffee making supplies with a fireball so barring some miracle we can't run the cafe today. I don't know what to tell you.

"A place where sinners fall in love" sounds awesome

This is one I'm working on right now for a kiss prompt meme. @scottxlogan gave me two prompts from it (one of them was the Emma/Tony one that's already finished and posted up), but the prompt on this one is "to give up control. (any ship)."

It's a Frostiron fic that's pre-relationship that takes place on Asgard. They're dealing with Amora (Enchantress), who is, of course, on the tear because she heard that Loki and Thor are is back in Asgard with friends from Earth, and she naturally wants another shot at spelling him to fall for her. (She's relentless.) She also doesn't care who else she spells in the process with her love magic, especially as a distraction tool.

I haven't gotten up to the point that he's found Tony yet, but he has run into a spelled Clint and Bucky making out in an alcove (and of course, the results of the spell are going to actually last beyond the spell wearing out for those two). When Loki does find Tony, it's right after Amora's dropped a spell bomb on him, which Loki gets to have the fun time of dealing with.

Snippet:

It hadn’t taken Loki long to track down Clint and Bucky.  He almost missed them, but when he caught movement as he passed in the hall, he paused his single-minded pursuit of rescuing his Earth friends to inspect the alcove in the hall between two display tables bearing relief carvings of Thor’s paternal grandparents. 

“Who’s there?” Loki asked as he cautiously stepped closer to where the sounds – hmm, that sounds like moaning and heavy breathing – his hand raised and ready to strike with seiðr.  “Are you alright?  Are you –“ 

He jumped back, his eyes wide, hands still up but more to shield himself from what – and who – he found. 

“Oh!  Oh...oh I’m sorry,” he muttered at first and half-turned to offer the couple privacy while they...broke apart to face him. 

Clint was the first to open his eyes and speak when he and Bucky came up for air from the heavy kissing they’d been engaged in before the younger prince interrupted them. 

“Lokes?  Z’at you?” he mumbled, his words thick as if the kissing had thickened his tongue. 

“Yes, Clint.  It’s me.  I was looking for you two...and Anthony,” Loki answered and finally turned back as the two stepped from the alcove.  He cleared his throat and then looked closely at them. 

“We uh...we saw Tony a bit ago,” Bucky stumbled over is words, his brain feeling both muddled and on fire, and all he wanted to do was grab Clint again and continue doing what they were doing before Loki found them.  That, too, left him feeling muddled and on fire. 

Loki stepped closer to them, carefully as he could sense the magic still crackling off of them.  It wasn’t his magic, but he knew whose it was. 

“Where is he?  You two were spelled by Amora, and I suspect that’s why you two were lip-locked.  The spell will wear off, but I’m going to,“ Loki touched the both of them and a halo of his own magic surrounded them.  It wouldn’t remove the Enchantress’ magic from their systems; they would have to wait it out as he told them, but this would, at least, protect them from further harm, “there.  You two will be protected while the other magic runs its course.  I suspect you’ll be too distracted to help in the fight, so I’m going to send you to my mother for your safe-keeping.”

I don't know how long this one's going to be - not terribly long, I don't think. It'll sort of be the start of something for Loki and Tony, but Loki will be terribly worried about Tony's state of mind once the spell wears off.

Potential AU: Karate Kid with magic!

i love the idea of magic so i had so many ideas for fics (mainly destiel) with magic in it and i always liked the idea of a magic system where witches snd wizards and the like all have different ways of using magic

Like witches use potions and wizards use wands

Daniel and mr. Miyagi would be witches and Johnny and the cobras would be wizards

Daniel would probably attempt a potion to make Johnny weak so he could beat him easier. He'd realize it'd be terrible idea, and he didnt make it right anyway cause he's a beginner and it'd turn out to be a stink bomb or something lol

Johnny would 100% bully Daniel for being a witch.

And they start dating and hed tease him about it but without any malice behind it

I imagine Johnny wearing a witch's hat while cackling over a bubbling cauldron and Daniel snatches it off his head, annoyed.

It'd be cute for Johnny to use a spell to make heart shaped fireworks while they kiss

And Daniel to make a potion to make his breath smell amazing

5. What are your fanfic pet peeves? Do they have a huge effect on whether or not you decide to read something?

Hmm… I’m not sure I have a lot. I think the one pet peeve I have that would keep me from reading something is the characters being so OOC, the only thing familiar about them is the name. I have started fics and dropped them bc I just couldn’t imagine that character doing that action or saying that thing the way the author wrote it. I freely admit that sometimes it’s just my preference of how I view that character. Also, I’m kind of over “stripper Loki” AUs.

23. What’s your absolute favorite trope to write?

Childhood besties to grownup lovers? I’ve probably written and read it a billion times. Idk why, it’s just super cute to me and romantic and I’m a sap. 🥴

44. Rant about something writing related.

Uhhh….I can’t think of anything. The only thing I’d rent about right now, at this moment, is the fact that I CANT FREAKING WRITE. Like, my brain is just “yeah I know you had an idea for this fic and this fic and oh! Here’s a whole new idea for your fave ship! Except. Sorry you can’t write it. What are words? How do sentence?” Ugh. I hate writer’s block.

Just wanted to let You know that You might want to issue some kind of declaration about whether that will work or not, because then Your followers might actually try to stop those rights for Your sake.

And as the daughter of Your spokesman and most trusted assistant, I'll speak for the majority of Humanity when I say this:

We don't want You to die. Because that would let You off the hook.

We definitely need to know what will actually kill You and what won't, so that We as Humanity can carefully avoid that which might destroy You, faith in You, or Your power in the World.

So it's my advice as hereditary go-between for You and Humanity that You clarify these things for your own sake.
