HAIL THE GARMILLONS HAIL OUR LEADER HAIL DESSLER
DESS-LER DESSLER DESSlER DESSLER DESSLER DESS-LER DESSLER DESSlER DESSLER DESSLER DESS-LER DESSLER DESSlER DESSLER DESSLER
Dessler stepped away from the podium, back into the depths of the palace. Propaganda Minister Adelheid Szalabastar greeted him. "Hail." said she. "You wrote an excellent speech." said he. "You're quite the orator. And a speech is only as good as the one who delivers it." Dessler chuckled. "It was no daunting task. Garmillons are such simple creatures. Too easy to please- it was almost a waste of our combined talent." "But don't forget, Abelt; this isn't just for the collective. It's for the shrewder few who may begin to doubt the glory of Garmillas." As they walked, they were joined by Chief of Staff Miesela Celestra. "Chief of Staff." said Szalabastar, saluting and averting her eyes. "Abelt. You're in good health as always. And Adelheid, you look well as well." "Celestra. What a pleasure." Shortly after, the three came upon the doors to the banquet hall. At the door stood two guards, who quickly saluted at the sight of Dessler.
The doors swung open, revealing the way into a simply marvelous, titanic, and exquisite hall. The East wall was entirely glass, allowing a lovely view of Barleras. The west wall, through which Dessler and Szalabastar had entered, had a titanic and beautiful mural painted across it of a Garmillon patriarch (who vaguely resembled Abelt's uncle, Erich nom Dessler) and an Iscändarian matriarch (modeled after Queen Starsha).
The gathered officials applauded, though their applause was notably different from that on Earth. Their applause was a deafening chatter of "Dess-ler, Dessler Dessler Dessler. Dessler, Dessler Dessler Dessler." The "sentences" varied in length, but the first syllable of the first "Dessler" in each was stretched out considerably. Dessler strode across the hall, walking along a long noble azure carpet that stretched from the entrance to a beautiful golden throne toward the East end. The officials, who were gathered at ornate tables adorned with golden accents, continued their rhythmic applause as he made his way towards the head table. By his side were Kess, Szalabastar, Celestra, Talan, and Hyss, all standing.
Dessler sat down and held up his hand, calling for silence. A servant handed him a glass. He took a sip of wine, leaned back, and nodded approvingly, before giving the near-full glass back to the servant to be thrown away.
"Well, let's get on with it."
"Y-Yes, your excellency." stammered the Viceroy, who had rushed everything, organization and planning wise. This was often effective and turned out perfect, though at a great cost to Hyss's mental health and stability. The old Viceroy cleared his throat. "Comrades-- gathered officers, scientists and other important members of noble Garmillon society-- Today we celebrate our 103rd year since the Great Unification, and 103 years of Dessler rule!" "Dess-ler, Dessler, Dessler." piped up the crowd before momentarily quieting down. "Approval ratings are through the roof." added Hyss. "Dess-ler, Dessler, Dessler." responded the crowd. Szalabastar bowed, proud. "And, according to General Histenberger's report, victory continues on into the Lesser Radjendora Galaxy. Those dreadful Gatlanteans never stood a chance." "His-tenberger, Histenberger. Dess-ler, Dessler, Dessler." Histenberger bowed, mild relief on his face at Dessler's apparent approval. "Excellent. And my special entertainment?" inquired Dessler. "What? C-Concubines?" said Hyss, utterly bewildered. Quite a few laughed. Dessler took a moment before doing so. "No, Hyss. The Jarmattu." Dessler corrected, once he decided he had laughed for the appropriate amount of time. "O-Oh! Right!" To say Hyss felt an idiot is not enough. "Uh… General Gör reports that the-the trap will be ready i-in… th-three hours, sir." "Hyss, you're an idiot." "I-Indeed, Leader." agreed Hyss, frightened.
THREE AND A HALF HOURS LATER
Colonel General Garamond Gör stood in the bridge of his flagship, the Görgamecj, watching in excitement as the barbarian ship, Jarmattu, steadily floated into his trap. "Perfect!" chortled he. "Alert Leader Dessler. His entertainment is in order!"
"Er… my Leader?" "What is it, Hyss?" "Gör says he has Jarmattu." Dessler adjusted himself. "Good." He sat upright and straightened out his cape. "Put it on the screen." The lights in the hall faded out, and the buzz of the room died down.
"Now." announced the Supreme Leader. "Comrades. I know your lives and jobs of… managing the lives and jobs of billions of others, it's… all really quite stressful-- especially our beloved Senior Vice Leader Garis Norrop, who manages the entire Lesser Radzjendora Galaxy--" There was some laughter in response to this, as well as scattered chanting or "Nor-rop, Norrop Norrop Norrop," as the great Norrop flushed deep blue, smiled, and bowed-- "And it is my belief you all deserve a moment of rest. So today, I present to you the end of a grand civilization, with the sincere hope of your entertainment. So please, enjoy the show." Applause; then, as Dessler sat back down, the screen slowly lit up, revealing a view of a large alien battleship amid a sea of stars.
"Behold, comrades. The Jarmattu. A marvel from a distant star. Though it comes from a previously uncontacted rock in the Zäl system-- who's natives were still bumbling around their inner four planets when we found them-- this ship carries a highly primitive Gesqtam engine. They seem to have engineered this wave-motion wonder purely out of spite for us. A beautiful testament to the indomitable human spirit." Scattered noises of mild fascination. "But, let's not deny it, soldiers of Garmillas. We all know how boring this is to you all. You desire action, yes?" Dessler stood up, flicking his cape, and smiled. "Let us blow it up." Resounding applause, cheers, and whistling. "DESS-LER, DESSLER DESSLER DESSLER DESSLER!" they cheered, on and on and on…
Dessler raised his hand, signaling for silence. The applause quickly died down. "Thank you, comrades. Now. Scattered around this marvel of defiance are hundreds of remote controlled Dessler Mines, courtesy of our wonderful Dr. Welte Talan.' "Ta-lan, Talan, Talan." muttered the crowd, as Talan bowed. Dessler continued. "These mines, my esteemed colleagues, are no ordinary mines. They are geniusly engineered to be nearly undetectable by radar. Not only that, but even while being nearly undetectable by radar, they also each have a built in propulsion system. Impressive, is it not?"
This was indeed quite impressive. It seemed impossible. How could it have onboard electronics without being detectable by radar? Or how could it maneuver without built in electronics? How could they receive orders with electronics AND something to bend light around it? Murmurs of curiosity and doubt filled the banquet hall. "But just talking about it isn't good enough. Allow us to show you." Yellow dots of various sizes appeared on onscreen, indicating the locations and distance of each mine. A red dot appeared onscreen indicating the position of Jarmattu, and an orange circle followed it indicating a target. Gradually, the mines closer to the camera began to recede, and the mines further off up began to approach, all carefully closing in around the Jarmattu.
Dessler looked on, slightly disappointed. "That's a bit slower than I expected. Mmh. No matter. Comrades, feel free to continue with your conversations and meals, but Hyss. Keep the screen up." "Yes, your excellency." The murmur and clatter of conversation and silverware faded back into existence as the gathered officials turned their attention back to their food and one another. "Perhaps the slow pace will heighten the sense of suspense." proffered Dr. Talan. "My thoughts exactly." improvised Dessler. "It's all about building anticipation for the main event, my dear doctor."
Over the course of the next 20 minutes, more people turned their attention back up to the screen as the mines closed in and tension mounted. Attention shifted when a pinglike tone was heard throughout the hall, indicating the detonation of one of the mines. The Jarmattu had sent a dummy drone out to test waters. "Clever." commented Dessler. "Teron ingenuity at a lesser extent. You'll enjoy what's to come." The Jamattu began firing small anti-aircraft pulse lasers off into the vaccuum, destroying the mines far enough off not to cause a chain reaction and close enough to eliminate real threats. But after about 30 seconds, it stopped. All eyes were now on the screen. The low murmur had turned to anticipatory silence. Another, lower pinglike tone rang out, repeating. An object had just left the Jarmattu. Was it a fighter? No, it was a human and an android, together bearing a large crate. "Thhe babrarians apppear human." observed a simply plastered Agricultural Minister Gelhen. "Many of them are." said Dessler, in reference to the various interstellar breeds of barbarian. "For the most part, they're no different from ourselves." Gelhen laughed at this. "A good jok, yyour exellenc-excelencyy." Dessler grimaced slightly-- slightly enough to be mistaken for a smile by those who did not know him. "It was no joke, my friend. I'm sure if we had a look inside that head of yours, and compared it to that of a Teron, a Jirel, and a Gatlantean, we'd find no difference at all." Gelhen laughed harder, not getting the message. Dessler smiled wider, his eyes fixed on Gelhen like those of a bird of prey.
Meanwhile, the two spacewalkers ventured out, floating to and from each Dessler Mine, attaching something to each one. "Can't we just detonate them and kill those two?" asked Celestra. "I'm afraid not." answered Talan. "You can't detonate individual ones, it's too complicated for that and I produced these on short notice. Blowing them all up at once would render the trap useless, and that, we could do regardless of if there were spacewalkers and have the exact same effect." "Then I have a proposition." stated she. "Have General Gör snipe them with low intensity long range beam weapons." "Unless Gör did it by accident, he seems to have specifically positioned them for a chain reaction, ma'am. It's simply not possible." "Then have him unposition them." Kess said plainly. "They're going to make a joke of your weapon." There was an uncomfortable moment. "That actually… That actually is possible. Your Excellency?" Hmm. Dessler thought for a moment. "Hmm… No, have Gör accelerate the mines. We will outpace them." "Yes, my Leader." said Hyss as Talan winced. "Ah, mm--" vocalized a grimacing Talan. "My Leader, they're closing in at maximum speed already." Dessler closed his eyes, inhaled, waited a second, exhaled, opened them again, and smiled politely. "Thank you, Talan. Your engineering prowess was almost adequate." Talan nodded apologetically. "I'm sorry, your excellency."
But by then. the Jarmattu's spacewalkers had returned to their ship. Suddenly, several-- not all, not even most, but several of the encroaching Dessler Mines began to fly back away from the Jarmattu. Dessler burst out into laughter in response to this. Followed by a frightened and confused Hyss and various other officers desiring to win Dessler's favor. "Hah-That was quite a simple solution. I bid them congratulations," said Dessler, once he was able to, "Though I don't deny I wonder why they've modified so few of them. I believe we should take a moment to appreciate the ingenuity of these creatures. Hail to thee, Terons." Gelhen, struggling to hold himself up against the mixture of laughter and liquor, finally managed to say something like: "An excellentjoke,, sir! ANd how th PRIMITIVes thin kthey've achived somethinng!!, Huzzah to them!!!" Dessler looked over at Gelhen, not disguising his look of anger this time. Gelhen quickly shut up. Seeing the joy fade from the drunk fool's face, Dessler's polite smile returned, and he turned to his comrade Kess. "I wish men like that would learn when to shut up." he whispered. "Would you like me to shut him up, sir?" "You're a saint, Aldous."
Kess stepped away from Dessler, whistled, and pointed. A few Imperial Guard officers joined him as he went to escort Gelhen out of the banquet hall.
"Now then. Let us continue." Looking over at the screen, Talan suddenly gasped and covered his mouth. "Oh, my word." Onscreen, the unmodified mines were being automatically navigated away from the hijacked mines by their built in safety system. The Jarmattu had figured this out, and was using the hijacked mines to push said unmodified mines out of the way, clearing a path to… the Görgamecj.
"What could they possibly be planning?" said a nervous General Gör. And then the Jarmattu's main guns rotated, turning toward the Görgamecj. "Ah-Haha, they-- They can't possibly hit us at this ran--" And with a few flashes of yellow followed by an equal number of thuds, Jarmattu's solid cannonshells did indeed hit them at that range. "E-EMERGENCY GESQTAM JUMP!" cried Gör. And jump they did. Leaving the mines dead in the water without a controller. The screen then went black.
Dessler looked up at the screen, a blank look on his face. Hyss immediately began stammering at an explanation. "Th-That coward, G-Gör, we'll-- we'll sort this out-- the military is under Talan and Zöllick's jurisdiction, I'll have a word with them. B-By the gods. This is… This is t-terrible, I-- I'll have, I'll send for a fleet immediately." "Teron ingenuity, as I said." Dessler was smiling again.
Aldous Kess and his men escorted Gelhen out of the hall. Out of the palace. "I'm TRULY… so sorry." slurred Gelhen, genuinely. "I didn't. know Desslerer wasn't joking. I ,wanted to be entertainining. to him" "I forgive you." said Kess, as they led him out of the upper class district. ",mMy friend… THIS has been a nice… walk, but we're." He paused to swallow, stopping himself from vomiting. "QUIIIIITE far from the palace.. Where are we even GOing???" "It's a surprise." answered Kess. "Ohhh," ohed Gelhen. "Excitingn." They led him into a north-south alley between two brick buildings, and two guards had him face the wall of the eastern one, on which a brown tarp had been set. "Heyy, what are--?"
BANG
But he was interrupted by a bullet passing through his head, spattering blue blood across the tarp. Kess switched out his gloves, tossing the gloves and gun he had used for the deed onto Gelhen's corpse, and donning new ones stowed in his pocket. "Burn this one. He's government. People will look for 'im." Those were orders Kess gave to his men as they took the tarp down from the wall and wrapped it around poor old Dotm Gelhen. "Aye, sir."
WORLD OF STRENGTH WITH HIS BLOOMS AZURE NOBLE IS THE LAND I CALL MY FATHERLAND THUS WE ALL SING THE JOYOUS SONG FOR THE GODS UP ABOVE WHO WILL BRING VICTORY TO OUR BROTHERS INTERSTELLAR: "ALL HAIL THE GARMILLONS GLORY BE TO US ALL FOREVER LONGER"

(CHARACTER NAME)’S RP PLOTTING CHEAT-SHEET
Want new-and-exciting plots for your character? Long to reach out to more of your followers, but don’t know where to start? Fear not! Fill out this form and give your RP partners both present and future all the of juicy jumping off points they need to help you get your characters acquainted. Be sure to tag the players whose characters YOU want more cues to interact with, and repost, don’t reblog! Feel free to add or remove sections as you see fit. Template here.
Mun name(s): Kalani, General, Killer (gamer name lmfao) Mun pronouns: Any I don't mind!! OOC Contact: Discord (ask if we're moots!) & tumblr ims
Who the heck are my muses anyway:
My muselist is a little all over the place! If the bio to each character doesn't cut it, ask me instead for how they are! Most are military, few are ex-military, one's a horse, there's a cult leader in amongst all of it. You name it, I probably have it.
Points of interest:
Some of them are kinda boring (in my opinion LMFAO) and most of the weird shit is from the Far Cry muses, the kinda cooler ones imho are the zombie-genre ones. Check them all out anyway I recommend it <3
What they’ve been up to recently:
The most important character arc for Voice right now, is acceptance at the fact that no matter what he does he can't change history when it comes to Joseph. What's done is done. The other most important character arc is for Joseph and that's just realising he's traumatised and seeking therapy that "actually works". Lots of others ofc on the blog but those two are the main ones lmfao-
Where to find them:
Most can be found in America! Some (Dead Island) can be found on Banoi. In SBY some can be found floating in space between Gamilas and Earth. Borderlands it's a wildcard on where they'll be you'd have to check bios on that lmfao. Expedition characters are on Darwin IV, but can also be dragged to other places! Far Cry 3 is on two islands, depending on North or South island, will decide on who you meet. Far Cry 4 is the same deal, only taking place in Kyrat! New Dawn is a post-Apocalyptic America. Far Cry 6 takes place in Yara. Protect the boy if you go there! Frontier is an 18th century historical drama for America/Canada. I only care about Cobbs/Grant though- RAGE is a post-apocalyptic world once again. Which world? Yes. Silver Brumby actually takes place in Australia but Brolga is a helluva fun muse to interact with!
Current plans:
Specific upcoming arcs are hard to think of when I keep changing my characters, how they act, etcetc, but there is one exploring how Joseph became the Voice, I'm just figuring out how to do it :3
Desired interactions:
Enemies to lovers, lovers to enemies, lovers to enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, enemies to-
Offered interactions:
All depends on the character one is interested in! Remember to look at the bios for each character. For example as a leader, there better be a good reason someone would want to meet Dessler and Joseph Seed. As an important person someone needs a good reason to meet a military figure like Gimleh, Ryder, Knoxx, etc. Just find the one that works for you!
Current open post/s:
My open starters, starter calls and plotting calls are here for your leisure to click on <3
Anything else?:
Rq, as I'm Australian (Queensland) don't expect me to be awake at your time I am an eepy gal that's typically awake at 10am-11am to 11pm-12am Other info you'll need though; interest tracker, muselist, rp rules, rp prompts and this rp guide I did a while ago (plus an RP plot idea prompt)
Tagging: Whoever wants to do this <3

While the Yamato is on Iscandar, a ship escaping the destruction of Gamilas crash lands. It contains 20-odd newly orphaned Gamilan children - the pilot is DOA.
And like. They can’t just leave them there, on a dying planet. At this point Iscandar is significantly less dying than Gamilas, but it is dying. And then one of the kids is like, “Are you going to take us to Earth like Leader Dessler promised?” because of course that’s what Dessler said, that Gamilas was dying so they were all going to go to Earth, but first they have to make Earth ready.
And that’s how everyone on the Yamato became foster parents to 20-odd Gamilan children.
(One of the members of Dessler’s boarding party defects on the spot when he finds out that the crew has been taking care of the child he thought dead. His Leader told him that earthers are monsters, and he was blindsided by the revelation that they aren’t.)
(Dessler, unhinged as he is at this point, reacts extremely badly to learning that the earthers have TAKEN THEIR CHILDREN-)
Kodai is nineteen and Very Tired and wishes Yuki had at least asked his opinion before looking into the adoption process. “I just want to make sure that they’ll be taken care of when we get back to Earth” he sees right through you Yuki he can even tell which one you’ve picked out.

I'm going to try and limit myself to one per fandom because otherwise you know it'll all be 24 😂
Tbh I'll probably be able to think of more/better choices later but oh well
A - Amy Santiago, Brooklyn Nine-Nine (very basic option, but she's too relatable for me, constant perfectionist)
J - Jen Harding, Dead To Me (angry, swears a lot, enough said, probably the most realistic, in-depth portrayal of angry grief from a woman I've ever seen)
M - Michelle Dessler, 24 (I don't think I need to justify this one too much 😂, beautiful, multi-dimensional character that I would take a bullet or die in a car bomb for)
R - Laura Roslin, Battlestar Galactica (I'm cheating with the surname thing but she's a president so really, we tend to mainly refer to her as Roslin anyway but honest to god why can't she be our sole world leader, the humanity in her is beautiful)
T - Tara Wilson, Boston Legal (they got rid of her way too soon and I hate the writers for it!)

Dessler: You look interesting for a Gamilan. Who are you?
Sauza: With all due respect, Supreme Leader, I'm not even from the same franchise.
I think if I knew of SBY before DBZ I would love Dessler more than Sauza. Either way, I think Dessler is an excellent character. That show fulfills my need for strange coloured humanoid people that allows you to sympathize with them.

Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love - Trailer
I’m spamming Yamato because I’m still salty over S6 VLD.*
By the time Yamato 2199 concluded, the Garmillans are defeated with Leader Dessler presumed dead. Starsha Iscandar’s role in supplying Earth with Wave Motion Gun technology was revealed (how’s that for “morally gray”?). Yamato 2202 opens with a treaty between Earth and Garmillans, as a new enemy (Gatlantis) appears, while Space Goddess Teresa does her Thing.
Oh, and the red-color-coded protagonist (Kodai) steps into his mentor’s role with story-appropriate ease.
* Why yes, I’m self-actualized human and can thus both enjoy aspects of a story while disliking/critiquing other aspects of the same thing. Neurology is complex like that.

(Rearranged the events of Space Battleship Yamato 2199 for this one, also changed the prompt like 4 times)
Fic prompt taken from; here . Prompt; “how many times am i supposed to forgive you?”
Pairing; Abelt Dessler/Velte Talan
Warnings; mentioned character death, mentions of war, poorly done politics, dictatorship stuff dessler does, mentions of cutting, mentions of genocide
The low light over Gamilas made the city more spectacular, it almost overrode the pollution, the stench of death that wafted through its streets.
The image of Starsha and Dessler, opposites united in the fact that their twin planets will die soon, plastered above the door. Starsha presented as an angel, Dessler placed as a military leader doing what he can for his people.
The light caught just right on the Lord’s golden hair, making it glisten like it was the sun itself. With Iscandar hanging above his head through a window, its brilliant and luscious blue contrasted well with the distraught, deathly green and brown of a slowly dying Gamilas.
Dessler swirled a glass of wine as he relaxed on his sofa made of silk, watching his city.
Created off of the Zaltz slaves who worked tirelessly to fit the regime his uncle had created and he had continued forward with.
He almost didn’t hear Talan enter the room.
If the slamming of the door hadn’t attracted his attention out of brief worry and fear. Almost making him drop the glass. “Velte... I was wondering when you were going to get here, I saved a glass for you.”
He’d looked back to overlooking the city, sipping the glass. Hearing that Talan had not yet moved though he raised a brow and looked at his engineer. “Is something the matter? If you’re worried about the Terrons-”
“You used the Torpedo against them, Abelt.”
Ah, that was what plagued his brilliant engineer. “Velte...” He gently placed the glass down before looking to Velte again, he could see the rage in the mans tightly clenched hands. “You know I had no other choice at the time, they’ve destroyed much of what we had.”
“You promised me you would only use it against the Gatlantians!”
“... Plans change, Velte. This is a two-front war and we need Teroa. The longer those Terrons are allowed to roam the galaxy, the higher the threat they are to the Empire and the less chance we have to colonise-”
“You say that... But what you really mean is that they’re a threat to your public appearance. Do I mean anything to you anymore? Perhaps Erich was right! You’re self-centered and this Yamato is a threat to you because it makes you look weak!”
Dessler choked on his words when Talan had looked at him with hate in those eyes. His mouth opened, tried to form words multiple times yet nothing came out for what seemed like hours. Talan just had to use Domel against him when that wound was still raw. It had only happened weeks ago... “Velte I promise this time it won’t happen again. It will be only used for the Gatlantians.”
“How many times am I supposed to forgive you? How many times am I meant to put aside everything to let you roam around the galaxy like nothing is happening? You let General Erich Domel out there to die when you asked you to end the war with the Terrons. Your pride hasn’t let you do such a thing!”
“We need the planet, Velte-”
“You’re causing a genocide and extinction of a race, even Starsha stepped in to help them!”
“And what about our own people?! I bleed my hand, cut long and deep into it to bleed for those that are dying in the streets and you expect me to stand by and watch it happen with the Gatlantians on our doorstep?!”
Now it was Talan’s turn to be silent, staring at Dessler before shaking his head. “You’re letting your need to have constant war and violence by slaughtering thousands get in the way of rational thinking. Even Starsha could see this. And you use my intelligence, my creations, to further a war I wanted no part of.”
Dessler felt sudden fear grip at his heart. Don’t say it Talan. Don’t say it.
“You may have saved my family from ruin, Dessler, but this genocide and mass extinction cannot go on. It’s over between us.”
The engineer, his brilliant and talented engineer, left before he could say a word.
Left staring at the model ship of the Domelaze III, carefully detailed after the ship that had blown up weeks ago with Domel and his crew on it.
A Zoelguut-class Super Dreadnought.
The best of his Navy forces, annihilated by one little ship.
He wanted to scream.

Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamsto 2199: Episode 6 - "The Sun Sets on Pluto"
Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamsto 2199: Episode 6 – “The Sun Sets on Pluto”
When writing this post, I will be using “aka” designations for the characters, to help readers who may only be familiar with the English dub of Star Blazers to figure out who I am referring to in this writeup. This episode finally reveals the leader of the Gamilas… Dessler (aka Desslok). In Space Battleship Yamato 2199, he has much more of a “bishonen” (“beautiful boy”) design to him compared to…

What is The History of the brand Adidas and what was their impact to the Sports industry?
Tumblr media
The History of Adidas
Adidas is known to be one of the world’s most popular sports manufacturers in the world, second to Nike. What is the success behind this major sports manufacturer and how did it rise the ranks over the years to be sought after and loved by many? Let’s take a look back at their humble beginnings and how Adidas became what it is today.
Founded in Herzogenaurach, Germany by a man named Adolf “Adi” Dassler(1900-1978), the company was started in his mother’s wash kitchen. Not long later, his brother Rudolf Dassler(1898-1974) joined and the company was registered in 1924 as “Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik”, also known as the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. Adolf Dassler invented spiked shoes for track and field, which were leather shoes with nailed studs and track shoes with hand-forged spikes. He transitioned from using heavy metal spikes to utilising canvas and rubber to enhance the quality of spiked athletic footwear. As Adi was an avid athlete himself, he understood athletes and their needs when it came to footwear and wanted to provide the best for them. In the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, Lina Radke wore Adi Dassler’s shoes and won a gold medal in the 800m sprint. Adi managed to convince U.S sprinter Jesse Owens to use his handmade spikes at the Summer Olympics in 1936, where he won 4 Olympic gold medals. There were also many other athletes who donned Dassler shoes and attained medals in the Olympic games over the years. With that, Dassler shoes were made known to the world and were very popular, selling 200,000 pairs of shoes yearly before the start of World War Two.
During World War Two, the Dassler factory was used for the production of anti-tank weapons and was nearly destroyed, but thankfully Adi’s wife Käthe Martz was able to convince the US forces that the company and its employees only have intentions of manufacturing sports goods. The American occupying forces became major buyers of the Dassler brother’s shoes thereafter. Both Adolf and Rudolf were involved in the Nazi party, and Adi decided to be a coach as well as a supplier to clubs in Hitler Youth to expand production for the company. The conditions of the war proved to be difficult for both brothers to bring up their business as the country was war-torn, and the factory was constantly low on staffing. Not only that, but the relationship between the two brothers were also heavily deteriorating and a misunderstanding between the two brothers split the family into half and drove each other apart.
In 1948, the misunderstanding was proved to be irreparable and they each went on their separate ways, with Rudolf departing the company to set up his own firm which he named Ruda – derived from his name, which was later rebranded to what we know as Puma. Adi also renamed the company after the departure of his brother, naming it as Adidas, which came up by combining the first three letters of his name and surname. The two companies went into a very fierce and intense rivalry, as Puma entered the market as Adidas’ competitor. Even the two football clubs in their town were divided, with ASV Herzogenaurach club that was supported by Adidas, while 1 FC Herzogenaurach was supported by Puma. It also affected the people in the city, which led to it being nicknamed “the town of bent necks”. This was because people would see which shoes each other wore and treat them accordingly.

In 1949, Adi registered a shoe that included the now-iconic three stripes on the side. Adidas bought the rights to the three stripes trademark from a sports company called Karhu in 1952. In the same year, the first non-shoe product was introduced, a sports bag. During the 1954 World Cup final, the German national football team was faced up against the Hungarian team. The entire German team wore lightweight football boots from Adidas, and during halftime, Adi screwed longer screw-in-studs on the players’ shoes, and they eventually won the match. This was known as the “miracle of Bern” and propelled Adidas to an even higher popularity status. The first track and field warmup suit donning the iconic three stripes was produced and released in 1967. Known as the Franz Beckenbauer tracksuit, this first apparel opened a new channel for Adidas, who was known for shoes. In 1970, Adidas produced their first official ball, the TELSTAR, for the 1970 FIFA World Cup™. It was the beginning of Adidas’ partnership with FIFA, to provide the Official Match Ball for the World Cup ever since. In 1972, when it was Munich’s turn to host the Olympic Games, Adidas debuted its new logo, the Trefoil.
The impact of Adidas to the Sports Industry
By the 1970s, Adi had over a total of 440 patents, trademarks and designs related to sports shoes and other athletic equipment. In 1978, he was inducted into the American Sporting Goods Industry Hall of Fame as one of the founders of the modern sporting goods industry. A couple of months later, he passed away, leaving the company to be headed by his wife Käthe. Their children were very much involved in the business, helping out with other divisions of the company. In 1984, Käthe passed away unexpectedly, which caused a shift in the company as they did not foresee this to happen. Her son Horst, assumed leadership of the company in 1985. Focusing on pushing the company towards a change of direction, he took upon a business strategy to further push Adidas through endorsements to boost Adidas’ revenue. However, in April 1987 Horth unexpectedly passed on, which caused uncertainty for the future of the company. As Adi’s daughters had sold their shares to the company away earlier, the heirs of the company transferred management to French industrialist Bernard Tapie. He faced many issues and went into debt trying to revive Adidas’ business, and eventually, his friend Robert Louis-Dreyfus took up the post in 1994 as CEO. Together with his partner Christian Tourres, they knew that the company needed to be shifted into a new direction in order to improve and rise from the bottom. He directed Adidas to become a marketing-driven company, steering Adidas back onto the right tracks. Six years after being a corporation in 1995, Adidas went public and this brought them back to the top of the sporting industry.

Adidas continued innovating and producing shoes that could help athletes improve, with products such as Torsion, the Equipment concept and the Predator football foot. Adidas was able to acquire the Solomon group in 1997 and rebranded itself as Adidas – Salomon. In 2001, Herbert Hainer became the new CEO and led the company into the direction of innovation. Such were ClimaCool and Adizero. Adidas was the first to introduce a new lifestyle segment in their business, focusing on sports-inspired streetwear. Partnerships with individuals such as Yohji Yamamoto and Stella McCartney allowed Adidas to burst forth with creativity and introduce sportswear into mainstream daily wear. A year after Salomon and Adidas went their separate ways in 2006, Adidas acquired Reebok and the company was renamed Adidas AG.
Adidas’ mission is “To be the best sports company in the world.” and their purpose is that “Through sports, we have the power to change lives.” they believe in exercising the 3C’s throughout their organization, through Confidence, Collaboration and Creativity. They also believe in shaping their leaders to be strong and encouraging to their teams, and that a stable framework will assist them in achieving even greater, inspiring their fellow colleagues to do their utmost and serve customers with only the best products.
Currently, Adidas Singapore sells an array of items, including apparel for men and women, such as Adidas polo tees, t-shirts, jackets and many others. Adidas is the largest manufacturer of sports bras in Europe, and second in the world. They also offer sporting goods and wear for sports like football, baseball, golf, Running, and many other sports. They also offer accessories such as bags, caps, socks and many other items. Adidas also expanded into supplying printing businesses to allow customisation of Adidas items. Such for example would be drawstring bags, Adidas running tee Singapore and many other items.
Over the course of many decades, Adidas has certainly proved themselves to be of top quality, staying true to their beliefs that were envisioned by their founder, Adolf Dessler to only provide the best that can aid athletes. Even in mainstream media and culture, the brand has played a big role in shaping many things, particularly in the industry of sportswear, encouraging innovation and creativity to push quality, functional items on the shelves.
