En septembre 2013, nous avons sillonné la Martinique avec le "Cahier d'un retour au pays natal" d'Aimé Césaire à la main. Au hasard de la route, nous avons croisé des gens à qui nous avons donné à lire une ou deux pages, trois ou quatre paragraphes jusqu'à épuisement total du stock. Au final, les 64 pages durent 92 minutes. Un document exceptionnel que nous projetons, non pas sur les écrans, mais sur les façades de maisons, sur les murs des villes... comme un tag audiovisuel. Given his field of studies, I have the feeling that Severus would have to indeed learn other languages (some fluently and other on the very basics) in order to obtain more knowledge. I can completely imagine him reading le Livre Rouge des Plantes Menacées aux Antilles Françaises, or having a go at more complicated ones such as Advanced Medicinal Boils in Hindi or Russian Herbal: Traditional Remedies in its original languages...

Spanish, Portuguese and Italian would be easier to grasp having contact with French since they are latin languages.

One could not rely on translation spells all the time.

La flamme olympique a été allumée ce mardi 16 avril 2024 par la "grande prêtresse" sur le site antique d'Olympie. Les jeux se tiendront du 26 juillet au 11 août.

La flamme olympique transportée par la "grande prêtresse" a été allumée, ce mardi vers 11h15 incarnée par l'actrice grecque Mary Mina, sur le site antique d'Olympie en Grèce, où ont eu lieu les premiers Jeux olympiques de l'Antiquité. La comédienne a allumé la flamme en présence du président de Paris 2024, Tony Estanguet, et du président du Comité international olympique Thomas Bach, qui a insisté sur le message d'"espoir" que porte la flamme olympique, symbole de paix dans l'Antiquité. En raison d'un ciel nuageux, l'allumage n'a pas pu se faire avec les rayons du soleil comme le veut la tradition antique, et a été réalisé avec une flamme de réserve conservée après la répétition générale de lundi. La flamme a ensuite été transportée au stade antique d'Hestadia pour être transmise au premier relayeur, le champion olympique grec d'aviron Stéfanos Doúskos. Lui-même l'a transmise à l'ancienne nageuse Laure Manaudou, sacrée championne olympique sur 400 m nage libre aux Jeux olympiques d'Athènes en 2004, et première relayeuse française.

Cette étape marque la première étape du relai de la flamme olympique à travers la Grèce et la France. La torche s'élance désormais pour un long périple elle sera officiellement remise aux organisateurs de Paris 2024 au stade panathénaïque d'Athènes, site des premiers Jeux modernes en 1896, le 26 avril, après 11 jours de relais à travers la Grèce. Elle traversera ensuite la mer Méditerranée à partir du 27 avril à bord du trois-mâts Belem pour rejoindre la France, à Marseille, le 8 mai. Ensuite par une grande partie des départements de l'Hexagone, les Antilles ou encore la Polynésie française.

• La Guerre des Étoilés (110k, 10 chapters)

Le Général Hux est mécontent. Il a un concours de cuisine à gagner contre la brigade de la Petite Résistance mais il doit aussi gérer les sautes d'humeur de son propre coéquipier, Kylo Ren, descendant d'une longue lignée de cuisiniers mythiques. Du Kylux, un soupçon de Luke Skywalker/Wedge Antilles et peut-être un poil de Stormpilot sur le long terme.

-> The fic that fanart made me think of! The author was publishing a translation in english here, it hasn't been updated in 2019 and it only goes up to chapter 6 but since you're reading in french 👀 personally I thought it might not hold up to my current tastes but I reread it like a year ago and it really did! It's great, I love it. The puns are funny, it feels like watching a cooking contest but you also get UST on top, impeccable.

• the En ton nom series, Ben & Sheev (210k & 23 chapters, 198k & 16 chapters)

Le fraîchement promu Général Hux se fait enlever par la Résistance. Enfermé dans une cellule, le seul visage qu'il voit au quotidien est celui de l'homme chargé de l'interroger, un Jedi nommé Ben.

Après avoir fui la Résistance en compagnie de Hux, Ben rejoint le Premier Ordre sous le nom que lui a donné le Leader Suprême Snoke : Kylo Ren.

-> It has been almost 5 whole years since I first read this fic and I'm still mentally ill about it (mostly in a good way). It predates Armitage as a first name for Hux and the ending absolutely destroyed me. I read it during the holidays at like a lunch with family and I was just sobbing in a corner of the room because of these two and I do not regret looking like an idiot in that moment because the emotional Moment was worth it. Absolute masterpiece. If you finish it come tell me about it even if it takes you years because that ending... listen I love the fic so very much but I won't lie that dot dot dot is (derogatory). The emotional wreckage of it was not satisfying to teen me but I'm still thinking about it with minimal prompting 5 years later and that's how you can tell the author did a great job. To be clear this is a cherished memory even if I wasn't crying with joy. There's also an english translation being worked on by im_your_hope!

• I also have good memories of L'autre con, but it's been years so they're just vague memories. It was written as a prompt fill for a fic starting with "Y'a encore l'autre con dans ma chambre", like Y'a encore l'autre con dans my chambre by Hermineuh! (that's uh, "that other dumbass is in my room again") And speaking of Hermineuh...

• Dites-le avec des fleurs by Hermineuh (30k, 6 chapters)

Hux a un secret. Rien d'extravagant ni de malsain, fort heureusement. Juste une petite passion qu'il s'est découverte il y a peu et qu'il compte bien garder pour lui. Ce serait tellement dommage si le Maître des Chevaliers de Ren venait à le découvrir. Vraiment dommage…

I was scrolling of FFnet trying to find something interesting, this seemed a safe bet, and then BAM surprise Kylux, and now look at me. Thank you Hermineuh for single-handedly selling me on the ship. This fic changed my life and also it's good!

E' il 4 maggio del '99, i primi raggi del sole illuminano l'ossidiana lucida di La Palma: quattro curiosi individui (giovanissimi, a parte Fabio, più che trentenne, figlio dell'unione di Giorgio con la prima compagna Lucia Morellato), dopo aver riempito Passat e Taunus di polistirolo, viveri, strumentazione, e averle dotate di una zattera di salvataggio sul tetto, varano queste altrettanto curiose imbarcazioni.

E' l'alba, momento scelto dagli autonauti per evitare la Guardia Civìl. Le auto proseguono sospinte da due fuoribordo finché non finisce la benzina. I ragazzi non ci pensano due volte: staccano i motori e li guardano sparire negli abissi dell'oceano.

Tutto bene fino al 25 maggio, quando saltano i contatti con la terraferma. Il telefono satellitare Imarsat si spegne, forse per il contatto con l'acqua ("imbarchiamo acqua dal sedile davanti!" scrive Amoretti sul diario di bordo), o  per la mancanza di sole, che alimenta le batterie fotovoltaiche (solo energia pulita a "bordo").

I due paiono scomparsi nel nulla. Marco Amoretti, 23 anni, e Marco De Candia, 21, potrebbero aver fatto una brutta fine. "Silenzio dall'Atlantico", titola il Secolo XIX, e tutta Sarzana (dove si sono stabiliti gli Amoretti) si ritrova in subbuglio. In realtà i ragazzi se la passano alla grande, sono in perfetta sintonia.

LE MACCHINE SI RIVELANO MEZZI RELATIVAMENTE SICURI

Nettuno è magnanimo e le depressioni oceaniche (tra cui l'uragano Emily) risparmiano i ragazzi. Urge un altro parallelo con Alain Bombard, che dopo 53 giorni di navigazione incrociò la nave inglese Arakaka: Amoretti e De Candia incontrano per puro caso la petroliera Chevron Atlantic, il cui comandante si dimostra generoso e lancia in mare numerose provviste recuperate da Marco a nuoto. Sono al 108° giorno di oceano e l'avvistamento della nave lascia intendere che la terra è vicina.

Nel frattempo, Fabio, Mauro e Serenella sono giunti nelle Antille per organizzare l'arrivo delle auto. Sorvolano il tratto di mare antistante la Martinica portando con loro i giornalisti increduli: i due folli danteschi ce la stanno facendo, sono ad un passo dal traguardo.

In un contatto radio, Serenella decide di rivelare a Marco la morte del padre, per evitare al ragazzo una terribile delusione a terra. Arrivati a Port Tartane il 31 agosto, dopo 119 giorni in mare, gli autonauti vengono accolti come eroi dai media italiani ed esteri.

POI, IL BUIO.

Troppe cose non piacevano. Troppe cose scomode da ammettere: era possibile attraversare l'Oceano quasi per gioco, con delle macchine sgangherate. Erano riusciti a farlo due ragazzi totalmente estranei al mondo della vela solitaria, privi di conoscenze nautiche, mezzi tecnici e sponsor, peraltro poco dopo la vittoria di Giovanni Soldini alla Around Alone.

La stampa locale ligure fu l'unica a giocare su questo contrasto tra modi antitetici di vivere il mare, perché sia Soldini che gli Amoretti erano legati a Sarzana. Oggi, a più di una decina di anni di distanza, le immagini dell'insolito viaggio continuano ad emozionare. Se dopo due lustri possiamo già essere considerati posteri, allora sì, fu vera gloria.
