Something about my femme having gone back home has made me realize something so important about butch/femme love I didn't really register at first.
How much my gender as a butch was affirmed by my femme. She sees me for who I am in a light I'm not sure literally any queer peer I've had prior has. My two-spirit womanhood, my butchness, just felt... natural around her. The masculinity, the "silly" chivalrous tendencies, the way I naturally wanted to dress. It was all affirmed just by being in relation to my femme. I had literally zero gender dysphoria for basically the entire week. It was glorious.
I actually had one of the worst dysphoria days in months yesterday afterwards, almost like a whiplash effect. But, this also helps serve as a reminder of just how right butch is for me. How happy I feel specifically as a two-spirit butch, in relation to my femme.
Once again butch/femme has proven itself holy.

i think the failure of the yellowjackets approach and (to an extent, because it absolutely doesn't land perfectly all the time) success of the umbrella academy approach to the "teens in life-changing danger must reconnect all grown up" plot is that yellowjackets contains very grounded concepts treated with almost TOO much *oomph* and TUA contains very elaborate concepts that it treats elaborately. with yellowjackets whenever there's ten different chaotically overlapping plots i just get annoyed that they can't stick with one or two, settle down and really stew in them, whereas when there's ten different chaotically overlapping plots on the bad sibling show im like yeah comic book. that's exactly where you're supposed to be . but no that's not it actually. still thinking out loud. it's that yellowjackets sometimes deviates from its central question which is 'how do we live the rest of our lives with Who We Became Out There' to do other stuff that doesn't connect well and comes off over-the-top because it's disconnected. but TUA's central question is 'how do we live the rest of our lives with Who We Became Because Of Dad' and absolutely every single poor decision they make or relationship they bungle or disaster they fail to avert comes right back to that question no matter how wacky a path it takes to get there

Holy shit these ADHD meds are the SHIT! I've been on them for nearly a month now and have:
1) cleaned out 2 email addresses' inboxes (over 15000 emails total!). Not fully organised yet but that'll be a work in progress as I decide how to organise going forward then resort the old stuff.
2) set up a fairly realistic monthly budget broken down into what is paid with each cheque, including savings for yearly expenses such as vehicle registrations, oil changes, clothing, etc. that's easy for my partner and I to follow when brain fog hits.
3) become FAR more active with household chores I usually struggle with n shit to the point that soon we should be able to set up a schedule of sorts to maintain the level of clean I need for my mental health.
4) I CAN MAKE PHONE CALLS AGAIN! WITHOUT A HUGE-ASS BUILD UP FIRST <3 <3 <3 this has been a HUGE issue for me now that I don't work in a job where I have to make calls regularly.
5) Commited to taking the kids to the library anime club every week! This is the first time I've consistently had the spoons to be able to do this :)

nge is probably the best example of "yes the girls are sexualized but if you think it's for no reason you're completely missing the point of the show" because every instance of a woman acting out sexually is a clear response to trauma and every woman in that show is pitiable in a well written way. anyone with any handle on nge meta scorns the people who reduce the show to waifu wars, and the creators of nge themselves made a whole movie to spit upon people who reduced the girls to eternally marketable mindless tropes.
chainsaw man is another story where sexuality is actually explored instead of just exploited, and many of the characters in the story all have different and very human struggles regarding sex. it's art, telling a story about living in a world where sex is sold to you idealistically, and about learning that actual intimacy requires the input of two people who each have their own experiences and desires, and that what denji is actually looking for is well beyond sex and has much more to do with wanting an honest and unbreakable emotional connection with literally anyone.
both of these are not necessarily revolutionary for that. because people have been making art about sex for a very long time, most certainly including art that is poetic, emotional, sincere, deeper than surface level erotic imagery without shying away from eroticism. and we've had a lot of that scrubbed away from our perspective and our knowledge of art history, both to make us afraid of sex (so we won't seek intimacy) and to sell us sex (marketable, devoid of any deeper thought). which extends into seeing things like chainsaw man, assuming it's just sex-being-sold to the readers, and being resistant to the idea that it's anything else. people actually do make art about intimacy on a higher level of thought! it does exist, it's not that uncommon, and sometimes it can be very good! don't be so exaggerated in your distaste for anime titties and perhaps you will find a story you enjoy. perhaps you will even find a friend and boy (insert denji image of your choice here)
