Beautiful Khem
I saw an interview somewhere that said this costume is to represent Phra Law which is a Lakhon Nok dance drama.
In the briefest possible summary - It is about Prince Phra Law who is so devastatingly handsome that it ends up causing a lot of trouble and tragedy which seems very apt!

Mileapo’s interview conducted online after shooting for Spur Magazine
Tumblr media
I changed into my clothes and the first person who appeared in front of the screen was Mr. Apo. While waving at me he said, "Hi! How are you? Mile will be coming soon, so please wait a little longer” he said with a refreshing smile that was no less than a vitamin yellow T-shirt. Mr. Mile, who appeared immediately after that, glanced at Mr. Apo and held two cushions that were nearby. While gently attaching one of them behind Mr. Apo, he sat down with a cheerful smile, saying, "Thank you for waiting." I witnessed the deep bond between the two of them, who care about each other on a daily basis.
You are two people who have been active as models since you were teenagers before you were active as actors. Please tell me how you aimed to be a model.
Apo: When I was looking for something to put into, I felt that "modeling work is cool." Luckily, I got a chance to be invited by an acquaintance.
Mile: I was also invited by an acquaintance and signed a contract with a model agency. At that time more than 10 years ago, there was still no culture of scouting through SMS. The way to enter this industry was either by chance or by acquaintance.
──At that time, it seems that model work and academic work were parallel, but each of them was quite conspicuous on the university campus ...!
Mile: Well, i was popular (laughs). Because I was also doing music activities. Since I was a child, playing the guitar has been my hobby.
Apo: I wasn't popular at all! Because i looked like a "simple boy" at that time. Because i was skinny, my face was elongated, and people around me often said that i looked like Ultraman (laughs). (Crosses arms and imitates Ultraman's pose)
Mile: hahaha. I also thought when we first met! It is similar to both Ultraman and the actor and who plays the role of Zhan Zhao
──Mile and Apo have appeared in fashion magazines from various countries so far. I saw a project that talks about the commitment to dressing and your favorite products, and I felt the love you two have for fashion.
Mile: I like fashion very much. I'm especially attracted to items that can feel the skills of craftsmen, such as tailor-made. Among them, I like accessories and shoes such as watches and rings.
Tumblr media
──Apo seems to be particular into eyewear. I was surprised at the large number of things you carry, such as sunglasses and glasses.
Apo: hahahaha! It's a video that introduced the contents of my bag. You did your homework! ( =You've prepared well) Even in a day, I try to change the design according to the scene and mood, and wear glasses with a degree. I'm the type with a lot of luggage in the first place, but I especially carry a lot of glasses.
──As Apo mentioned earlier, the two of you who were appointed as Dior's ambassadors this year. In June, I participated in the men's collection in Paris and received cheers from many people there. How did you feel when you decided to work as an ambassador?
Apo: i was very happy. Actually, we've talked about it many times before it's decided. It started in the fall of 2022, when I worked with Dior for the first time. " While I was on a concert tour around Southeast Asia with the members of KinnPorsche, the Dior team came to see the concert and appreciated our attitude towards our work. From there, we discussed and came to the conclusion that "Dior and we should be able to do a good job" and decided to appoint them.
Mile: This is the first time for us to do long-term fashion work. I am sincerely grateful to the people of the Dior family for welcoming and caring for us.
Tumblr media
──In August, the movie "Man Suang" where you co-starred for the second time together was released." Following "KinnPorsche The Series", this work produced by BE ON CLOUD was also very impressive with very gorgeous costumes and visual beauty. Mr. Mile is performing traditional Thai art with a taphone (taiko) and Mr. Apo is performing rum (Thai dance), but how long did it take to prepare?
Apo: It took 4 to 5 months just to prepare before shooting.
Mile: it took almost a year to combine the shooting period. Thanks to spending a long time, I feel that I was able to firmly express the beauty of Thai traditional art.
Apo: Unfortunately, the screening in Japan has not been decided yet. If you are interested, please contact me!
Mile: (smiling and nodding) What Apo is trying to convey is, "Please let me know if there is a company that will become a distributor of the work."
Apo: Oh yeah, that's what it is (laughs). You may get a chance to meet Japanese fans in the wake of the broadcast. I look forward to working with you!
──Fans should be looking forward to the day when they can meet the two of them in Japan.
Mile: we've always wanted to meet.
Apo: we will definitely make it happen

Do you think you'll feel comfortable posting your non-spolier thoughts on the movie? I hear Bas and Tong gave truly stand out performances.
Of course! It's a gorgeous movie that gets better with every rewatch. There is so much going on. Everybody is hiding something!
I don't think anyone is prepared to see Apo as Khem in his golden costume and koi eyeliner. Every time he appears on screen, I'm silently screaming into my fist. LOOK AT HIM I-
Tumblr media
And, yes! I can attest that Tong and Bas are phenomenal. I think them and Khun Wichien's actor deserve nominations for Best Supporting Actors at all the awards.
And as I've said before, Mile's performance as Chat is something that makes every rewatch better. All those microexpressions are given a new meaning as you realize what he was concealing.
As a Southeast Asian, I was also incredibly proud to see elements of our shared culture represented in the movie. In fact, I meant to write a primer before you watch Man Suang about practices I recognized and have researched on, so everyone can appreciate them too 🥹.
GAH I'M JUST SO EXCITED TO FINALLY TALK ABOUT IT AND READ ALL THE META THAT'LL COME OUT. GOD I NEED TO SEE IT AGAIN. I NEED TO SEE CHAT HOLD KHEM'S WAIST AGAIN.
(oops that's a spoiler. but everyone knew about it so, lol)

Man Suang 10/10 absolutely amazing. The costumes are fantastic, the acting is amazing, the dancing is absolutely out of this world it's INSANE how much talent these people have. I can't recommand it highly enough. Apo just absolutely shines in the roll of Khem, and all the work he put in whole-heartedly paid off. I love seeing him on screen, his energy, his love for acting, it's always a treat.
I'm also really impressed by Mile's performance as Chatra, especially since he didn't get much depth in the big overaching plot of the movie, and was sometimes put on the sidelines (here's hoping for SHINE the series for him to show more!). He worked really hard and it showed!
The only flaw i could name is that there is a lot of story and not much time; so it's very fast paced at times and introduces new characters very rapidly, so i was a little confused at the end about who was who and what happened, but i understood enough to still enjoy it.

Mileapo are in Jakarta today, doing the Magical Man Suang tour. They received this crocodile bread. In the Bewati culture that exists in Jakarta, this is reserved for weddings. And we got Apo filming Mile breaking this bread, with a hearts flooded emoji on top! ;)
Tumblr media
Before the show, they did that game, where they get a letter and they have to give a word that start with it. Mile got the letter 'D' and he said, "Daddy and Baby." He could have just said Daddy, but nooooo...
During a vid they filmed, Mile and Apo's legs just... *points and flails*
Tumblr media
Apo performed a dance as Khem, he was then joined by Bas as Wan and they danced together, but then Mile as Chat, despite having nothing to do with dancing, burst onto the scene. Was he jealous?
Pond: Man Suang is not a BL.
Mileapo: Are you sure?

Also, the way Apo kept touching and grabbing onto Mile:

Also, this happened...

Another thing we got today is pics of Mileapo in Chinese costumes as part of the Bento promos:

And just because, here's throwbacks to when Mile got his haircut and Apo was there with him, and they also had fun taking pics together right before that:

Mile & Apo from the hit Thai drama “KinnPorsche The Series” appear in the December issue of SPUR!
Tumblr media
Interview conducted after the shooting. Apo changed into casual clothes and appeared in front of the screen first. He waved his hand and said, "Hi! How are you? Mile will be here soon, so please wait a little longer," he said with a refreshing smile that was as bright as his vitamin yellow T-shirt. Mile appeared right after that, took a quick look at Apo, and grabbed two nearby cushions. Mile placed one of them gently behind Apo and sat down with a cheerful smile and said, "Sorry to have kept you waiting." I witnessed the deep bond between the two of them, who care for each other on a daily basis.
──The two of you were active as models since you were teenagers before you started working as actors in earnest. Please tell us why you decided to become a model.
Apo: When I was looking for something to devote myself to, I realized that modeling work would be cool. Luckily, I got a chance to be invited by an acquaintance.
Mile: Similarly, I was invited by an acquaintance and signed a contract with a modeling agent. At that time, more than 10 years ago, there was not yet a culture of scouting through SNS. The way I got into this industry was either by chance or through someone I knew.
──At that time, it seems that model work and academic work were parallel, but each of them must have been quite noticeable on the university campus...!
Mile: Well, I was pretty popular (laughs). I was also active in music. Ever since I was a child, my hobby was playing the guitar.
Apo: I was not popular at all! At that time, I looked like a ``simple boy''. Because I was extremely thin, my face was elongated, and people around me often said I looked like Ultraman (laughs). (He makes a cross with his arms and imitates Ultraman's pose)
Mile: (Laughs). I thought that too when we first met! He resembles both the actor who plays Zhan Zhao (*the main character in the Chinese drama ``The Seven Heroes and Five Gallants'') and Ultraman.
──Mile and Apo have appeared in fashion magazines in various countries. I got a sense of the love these two have for fashion as I watched them talk about their particular style of dressing and their favorite items.
Mile: I really like fashion. I am particularly attracted to items that show the craftsmanship of items such as tailor-made items. What I like most are accessories such as watches and rings, and shoes.
──Apo seems to be particular about eyewear. I was surprised at how many items he carried, such as sunglasses and glasses.
Apo: (Laughs) This is a video introducing the contents of my bag. You did your homework! (= you have prepared well.) Even during the day, I change the design depending on the occasion or my mood, or I wear prescription glasses. I'm the type of person who carries a lot of luggage, especially glasses.
──As Apo mentioned earlier, the two of you were appointed as Dior ambassadors this year. In June, you participated in a men's collection in Paris and received cheers from many people there. How did you feel when you got the job as an ambassador?
Apo: [I] was very happy. In fact, we had many discussions before it was decided. It all started in the fall of 2022, when I first worked with Dior. We were on a concert tour around Southeast Asia with the members of KinnPorsche, the Dior team came to see our concert, and they appreciated our work ethic. After discussions, we came to the conclusion that ``I'm sure Dior and us could do a great job,'' and we decided to work with them.
Mile: This is the first time for us to do long-term fashion work. We are deeply grateful to the Dior family for welcoming us warmly and taking care of us.
──In August, the movie “Man Suang” that they both co-starred for the second time was released. Following on from ``KinnPorsche The Series,'' this work, produced by BE ON CLOUD, was also impressive with its gorgeous costumes and beautiful visuals. Mile is performing Thai traditional arts with Taphon (drum) and Apo will be performing Lam (Thai dance). How long did it take to prepare?
Apo: It took four to five months just to prepare for the shoot.
Mile: Including the shooting period, it took almost a year. Thanks to the long time it took, I feel that I was able to fully express the beauty of Thai traditional art.
Apo: Unfortunately, the screening in Japan has not been decided yet. If you are interested, please contact me!
Mile: (smiling and nodding) What Apo is trying to convey is, ``Please let us know if there is a company that will become a distributor of the work.''
Apo: Oh yeah, that's what it is (laughs). Maybe the broadcast will give me a chance to meet the Japanese fans. Thank you very much for your support!
──The fans must be looking forward to the day when they can meet the two of you in Japan.
Mile: We've always wanted to meet them too.
Apo: I will definitely make it happen. (While holding up his ring finger and making a finger-cutting pose) I promise!

Liveblogging Man Suang
Tumblr media
First things first - outrage at Not-Mile who dares put his hands on Apo. Who the fuck do you think you- oh good, he's dead. Though, this is obviously something Khem expects and is used to. The touching, not the murder.
Wan, leave that knife in. Wan, don't take that knife out. Okaaaay, he took the knife out. Khem, at least don't be holding the murder weapon when- *sigh* never mind. Jesus fuck, Khem and Wan are not the sharpest crayons in the box, are they?
"You were caught red handed next to my nephew's body!" Only literally! I mean, technically correct. And in this instance, not the best kind of correct. :(
I love the costuming
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ohh hellooooo. Also, girrrl what are YOU doing at the devil's sacrament?
Tumblr media
You met him thirty seconds ago and you're already showing him your pussy? Chatra, you slut.
Tumblr media
Hey. HEY! Lord Not-Chatra. Stop looking at him like that. I swear, Khem is to higher-social-standing men like Will Graham is to serial killers. Where's the Chesapeake Chatra when you need him?
Tumblr media
Montage time!
Khem. Sweetie. Honey. You need to be more subtle if you're going to be a spy....
Apo is so pretty when he cries. 😭
YEAH YOU TELL HIM KHEM! Calling out the double standards! Also, that dude is totes jealous he didn't catch Lord Not-Chatra's attention...
Chatra gives you one warning and then it's a FIST TO THE FACE.
Tumblr media
Are they on a date? They're totally on a date.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a very important secret. So I'm telling you, a guy I've spoken to four times, on our first date, at a table at the corner of an intersection with open doors and people all around. Very important. Top Secret.
I love the sheer disappointment and disbelief in Khem's voice. Khem: A treasure trove? Really? That's what you're going with? Chatra: Why are you laughing?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Khem, you're such a hothead. You got into a KITE FIGHT. But it is a great excuse for Chatra to grope your waist. Well done.
At least Khem tells his secret up a tree and not on a LITERAL STREET CORNER.
Can't rid yourself of being a lowborn? *looks at the camera like it's The Office*
Me: I'm laughing with Khem cause a treasure map is stupid. Me five minutes later: wait, you bought that??? Chatra: Wait, he bought that? Oh man, this pretty idiot desperately needs my help...
Tumblr media
Me (And Chatra definitely): My god, look at his face transform into a smile... do it again! again!
Tumblr media
Khem: I have something to tell you... .... ... I've invited Chatra to join our missionWAN:ARE YOUFUCKING CRAZY???
I love the reconstruction sequence. That's some good storytelling.
HAHAHAHAHA "If you don't believe me, feel free to search my rooms!" Wan: Oh...I don't think that's nec- Chatra: DON'T MIND IF I DO. "Maybe you need to search me. I'll undress" Khem: NO THANK YOU WE'RE GOOD.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok... do you think that's enough food for three people? I think we might need to get another table of food in here...
What.... what are you doing Chatra. Like... my man has to have a good reason to point a gun at Khem... but there are no good reasons to point a gun at Khem.... but my man has to have a good reason to....KHEM LET HIM EXPLAIN
Ahhh Hong, I knew he wasn't dead. I knew it! I did! Oooh an assassin's teapot. Nice.
Yeah, old man! I agree!
Tumblr media
Goddamned Apo is so goddamned pretty.
Tumblr media
Oh damn. Risking your life to save your friend... and ending up having to kill him yourself. What a gut punch.
Aww Chatra. I'm not crying, you're crying!
Where's the series? I need the series now! Where is ittttttt???? 😭😭😭😭😭 You can't leave my boys like this!! 😭😭😭

Man Suang Postergate part 1: an update
A more detailed translation of that contentious explanation of Postergate (part 1) during the IG live has surfaced! Man, Mile really is so much better than Apo at this PR bullshit. So Mile said you can't fit everything about the movie in a single poster (no shit Sherlock) so they chose to feature just the dancers. And something something again about showing the beauty of Thai culture. But the main point really, he said, is that they wanted to show that Apo wasn't the only dancer (really Mile, wbk). And Apo said that there would be posters with other actors on it, but it wasn't clear from the translation if he was referring to the main poster and not just the standard character solo posters. (But would there be another poster in Cannes, hm?)
Like I said, PR bullshit mostly, but Mile is pretty good at the delivery. And it's more interesting than how Apo explained it, for several reasons. One, nothing in the explanation contradicts my theory that Apo is the main and Mile is not (but he still probably has a pretty significant role. Maybe.). I still think that Apo is too central to the film to leave him off the poster. And even just visually, Apo in his dancer costume is the most striking image that they could have for promo. I really do not see them ever leaving him off a main poster or other main promo materials. But of course, this is just my assumption, and we'll find out how right or wrong I am. Bring on Postergate part 2!
Second, the second dancer point can be a bullshit misdirection, or it could be a plot point like Mile seemed to be hinting at. Maybe Apo disguises himself as another dancer to carry out his mission or something? Will there be a case of dancer-related mistaken identity? Guess we'll have to find out.
Third, I'm not convinced of the reasoning that they just wanted to highlight traditional Thai dance for the Cannes poster, like they're from the Ministry of Tourism lol. Not that I'm a film industry pro of course, but that doesn't feel like it's interesting or unique enough, because any Thai production company can do something involving traditional Thai dance (whether they do it well is another thing). What will set them apart is the story and the perspective that they're offering, and guess what would be unique? A queer love story in that historical setting. How many films have done that? Why not make that the selling point? Is it because it's not actually a queer story? Is it because the government doesn't want them to advertise that? Who knows, but if it's neither, then why not.
Fourth, all this soft power talk still feels too in-your-face government propaganda for me lol. This presenting the beauty of Thailand to the world thing still makes me wary of it being more of a glossy, romanticized perspective than sincere storytelling about humanity, which can be messy and ugly in some ways. I personally prefer the latter, but maybe the former will sell better.
Fifth, what's with "we'll have different posters!" like are they making a special poster for every film festival? Lol. Is this them bragging about how much budget they have for marketing? They should at least put that white cat in all the posters for being so cute and good and enduring a film set. Give that cat the fame it deserves!
Finally, good for them for making it to Marché du Film. It's very unlikely they'll get into the actual festival next year, because Cannes requires that a film must not have been shown in countries other than the country of origin before showing in Cannes. But the opportunities (and bragging rights) that they would have gotten being in that film market would be immense already.

MileApo’s Man Suang.
Tumblr media
They have finally given it a name, Man Suang, which means the city of gods and angels. Hey I wasn’t that far with my assumptions.
Well, I would avoid living in any city with that name, history taught me that. They say it’s a place of entertainment for upper-class people. Hmmmm….. entertainment for the upper classes can go from listening to music, dance, reading to…. Prostitution, so let’s see.
Man Suang is inspired/from the Lilit Phra Lo. Lilit Phra Lo is a masterpiece of the Siamese literature. A Lilit is a type of long poem, which talks about love, tragedies and has a particular structure in terms of verses, rhymes, etc. They say it’s from the 17th century. However it may be older than that because many scrolls and books were burned when the Burmese took Ayutthaya (old capital of Siam) and burned the city to melt the golden statues of Buddha in the various temples … (Yes, I know).
What is Lilit Phra Lo about? A love story, of course, and one of a kind, it’s about magic, hermit’s, enemies and a….. Threesome. Yep, you read it right. Two rival cities fight, the kings die and their heir take the throne. Now Phra Lo new king of Muang Swang falls in love with two princesses from Muang Song (the rival city) Phra Phuan and Phra Phaeng. They have never met, but they love each other, how? Through the poems, songs written about them, their beauty, etc., they have heard. How does it end? I don’t want to spoil if you want to read it…. It’s a Greek tragedy with a Romeo and Juliet(s) vibe and twits.
Now back to MileApo’s Man Suang (that’s my official name for the movie, sue me). I wonder what they will take from Lilit Phra Lo, the impossible love story, the hermits, the magic? Will it be about power? Upper class and lower class?
They changed the plot and the released date? They are brave. August is in 7 months, it may seem long, but it isn’t, time flies and MileApo have various engagements coming. I hope they rest but those two works like they are running out of time.
Mile is a hard worker so no doubt he will nail Chat’s role. I’m so glad for Apo because, Khem is his dream role and he will put his blood, sweat and tears in this work.
Portraying a man from this period must be exhilarating, in a time where above all among the upper class, one couldn’t be themselves, showing the wrong emotion could get one in trouble. There was less freedom. It’s interesting what we take for granted now couldn’t even be fathomed then. Everyone was wearing a mask, playing a role, in a stage they perhaps didn’t set.
And it was only when they left the stage that they could be themselves. However not for long, soon it was time to put the make-up and the costume back to play roles they hadn’t chosen.
I’m looking forward to this movie, it has many thing I like and enjoy, history, costumes, traditions, patrimony, exploration of human nature and, of course, MileApo.
PS: We shouldn’t trust the trailer, lol. I don’t trust anything BOC says or show until I have the final product. For all we know, it could be about time travel or talking frogs.

I wish this outfit had been displayed like the red Inao one was, it's so textured and layered.
I feel like the costume designer went out of their way to make anyone looking at it want to touch it and I do!
Just like everyone wants to get their hands on Phra Law (and Khem) I want to run my hands over all that raised embroidery and feel the shift between velvet and silk under my fingers.
Would those chunky gemstones feel cold or warm? they look rounded and smooth to touch where the cloth-of-gold cape seems like it might scratch your skin if you run your hands over it.
The solid gold filigree of his ornamental belt is surrounded by the soft fabric of his pha nung and the mesh sash around his waist.
It's such a sensual costume, wearing it Khem is both a maddening temptation and yet at the same time aloof and untouchable in his golden armour.
Such a perfect choice 💛

Hello friend
I am very interested in your theory about Man Suang, Khem, and why someone (Chat?) is pouring what seems to be boiling water on his hand, would you mind sharing it, or giving a hint? 👀
NONNIE!!!
sorry i'm late in answering this but the good news is that the stitches in my mouth have been removed so yay!
ooooooooo!!!!! this is man suang stuff!!!!
love, i'm NOT very good at theorising shit i just go with vibes lol
so here goes nothing!
i feel the film will have a solid plot and will be executed quite well...the team is emphasising the point of thai soft power in the promotions coz i feel the film's plot is gonna be so engrossing that one wouldn't 'feel' that this is thai...there will be blatant thai elements (i mean duh) but they would be interwoven into the plot and not in your face like 'here....have some thai culture' i think that's where 'soft' would come into play as well...not in-your-face but still there and meant to be absorbed through osmosis the plot and characters and intrigue....i believe p'pond confirmed that there will be romance right? i just want a horizontal sex scene between chat and khem 🙏 but i also feel that the sex would not be too explicit (or it could be hella explicit as well...who knows)
khem....oh boy khem....there's so much going on with him right? the scene that the team keeps revealing bit by bit is what i have thoughts on....he's in his dance costume and make-up....the way he removes his make-up, his clothes, and the way he cries and hugs his shirtless self makes me think he was made to feel like a whore by someone???!!! was he insulted for his dance? was he abused? is he feeling bad after betraying someone? is he realising he's trans? I DON'T KNOW!!! BUT THAT SCENE COULD BE SO MANY THINGS! i think khem tries to learn dancing to elevate(?) his station from a servant to a dancer (?) or tries to learn dance to solve whatever the fuck they want to solve...but he didn't realise that it involved ~feelings and that it would be more personal than he thought....so yeah....this is what i gather from ~vibes
as for pouring that hot water thing...i...don't think it is in a punishment manner??? i think it is kinda required?? idk...like you know when you sprain your foot then you're supposed to soak it in hot water to heal it...i mean....not boiling hot lol
or maybe he's trying to injure himself so that he gets out of some situation? or to destroy some evidence that is imprinted on his skin? idk but it seems....TO ME...that he's in trusted company....so khem WANTS that boiling water on/near him
ANYWAY! i can be COMPLETELY wrong on ALL accounts when the film comes out lol

Hi. What do you mean that GMMTV encourages the kpopification of BL? I understand the final answer but I'm lost on the rest.
I'ma be honest I don't know where that post went so idk what I said in full sorry dude
but overall, I mean that gmmtv markets their talent like Idols rather than Actors.
So it's something @lugarn has also brought up, but gmmtv works like an Old Hollywood Studio did. So in the 20/30s actors weren't freelance like they are now, they had contracts with specific studios. For example, Joan Crawford was under contract at MGM for years, studios would be the ones to choose what films the actors did, they'd also choose a "persona" for them as well to present to the public. This was often connected to the types of films they did, to blur the lines of the star with the film char they'd play and get the audience to build a connection (we'd call this a para-social relationship today) with them.
Joan was often cited as frustrated with MGM because she didn't feel like they were using her to her full potential but she couldn't do films that weren't MGM unless she dissolved her contract. It's like how First will never star in a MeMindY production he's contracted under GMMTV. Eventually Joan did dissolve her contract with MGM and moved to Warner Bros, whhere it was the same thing, ie she could only do films produced by Warner Bros but hey she got an Oscar and a pop culture iconic movie outta that deal so. Here's a good video about Joan Crawford.
Kpop operates in a similar way, companies will present group members as Idols often times with specific roles - Leader, Lead Vocal, Lead Visual, Main Dancer, Main Rapper blah blah blah - and a persona for them. They present a curated version of themselves to the public and are sold more as products than musicians*. You'll notice that there will be similarities to how Branded couples are marketed, not as actors but as products as well. Case in point:

This is merch for ForceBook, not them separately, not their characters in Enchante or Boss and a Babe, or Only Friends like you'd see with other actors but together. What's being sold and marketed here? What is the product? ForceBook, not Force and Book even, but Forcebook.
I tried to find merch for Man Suang but could only find someone reselling the film cups. I looked up Kinnporsche merch and found this, which includes a necklace that says "Porsche" a tracksuit based off the bodyguard uniform (which I would legit buy tbh). I also found a plush series based on the KP characters, and a lightstick based on the show.
Know what's not there? Anything that's specific to MileApo or BarcodeJeff or even BibleBuild.
When I looked up Bad Buddy this was the only merch I found (which is wild considering the popularity of the show). I did find OhmNanon merch but I couldn't tell if it was official so I'm erring on the side of caution and assuming it isn't.
But look at the difference between the merch for Bad Buddy, undenibly one of gmmtv's most successful shows to date, and ForceBook's "couples" merch.
Now, before anyone jumps me no I'm not saying Forcebook don't "deserve" merch or like whatever, but look at the merch for A Boss and a Babe and how it's marketed and labeled:
Tumblr media
It's not labeled or marketed as "Boss and a Babe" it's marketed as "ForceBook". Force-Book plush dolls (as seen on a Boss and a Babe!), Force-Book folder (not even in the costumes of their chars lol). The closest to actual show merch is the mug.
So when I say gmmtv sells a weird combo of actor-idols I mean it. They're not selling the Actors as Actors first and foremost, they're selling them as a branded coupled up product.
If you look up Squid Game the merch you'll find is going to be specific to the show. Not the actors because the show it the selling point, the actors as a bonus, a benefit, an additional. People might go to see a movie for Angelina Jolie but they go to see her in a good movie. Because they wanna see her act.
gmmtv often makes shows that just have outright miscasts but the miscasts will happen b/c they need to keep their branded couple(s) together because the show isn't the product the branded couple is.
Fans don't care that ohm and nanon don't wanna work together again, or if they'd even be good in another series again, they just wanna see them together.
My thoughts aren't as articulate as they should be regarding this so forgive bro hope this made some sense at least
*I do want to note that the kpop industry IS getting better at treating their idols, there has been push back and progress made as well and I don't want that to get lost in the sauce here

BAD BUDDY'S UNCLE YOD
Today I learned that the spritely Uncle Yod in Bad Buddy was played by respected theater heavyweight Tua Pradit Prasartthong:
Tumblr media
above) Khun Pradit at BBS Ep.11 [4/4] 7.41 – shout-out too to the little rainbow flag on the deckchair 😍
Aside from acting, Khun Pradit is also Artistic Director at Bangkok's Anatta Theatre Troupe. His turn in Bad Buddy is not credited on BBS's My Drama List webpage though, so I thought I'd give him a little nod here.
Tumblr media
(above) This photo is from Khun Pradit's Facebook (linked here) and shows him in (likely) Malay-Muslim songket-trimmed costume wishing readers a Happy Eid al-Adha using a Malay greeting; not everyone in Thailand is ethnic Thai or Buddhist 😊
Uncle Yod's bar in Ep.11 is called Ko Yod's Bar (that's what it says in Thai on the signboard), where "Ko" means elder brother I think (a loanword from Chinese). But Pat and Pran address him as "Loong", which they also do for Uncle Tong, an appropriate honorific since Yod is quite a bit older than they are.
Director Aof likes working with actors from the theater world (mentioned in one of the Soon Vijarn Reaction/Recap videos on YouTube) and this is another example. The other theater performers I could identify in Bad Buddy are Pong Kusuma Teppharak, who played Kruu Payao in Ep.10, and Jum Amata Piyavanich, who played Junior's mom in Ep.11.
You can find more info about Khun Pradit online so I won't reproduce much more of that here. Suffice to say he's legit the real deal when it comes to performing and theater.
But this also shows, yet again, how Director Aof put in great effort to engineer the most robust artistic buttressing for BBS, even with the minor roles. A lot of love went into crafting this series with the best quality they could find, all around, and I think it shows in the overall finished product. 😍💖
P.S. A little side note: the following photo from the Man Suang set/workshop/preparatory rituals (I'm not sure which it is, but the source Tumblr post is linked here, and the original Twitter here) shows that Khun Pradit will also be in the upcoming MileApo movie (that's him right at the front taking the wefie):

Aside from Khun Pradit, the MileApo vehicle also has a whole host of other heavyweights involved in front of and also behind the camera, so fingers crossed this movie (historically-themed) will turn out well. 😊
