Character Actor

Torin Herbert Erskine Thatcher (January 15, 1905 – March 4, 1981) Stage, film and television  actor who was noted for his flashy portrayals of screen villains.

Though primarily a stage and film actor he was also a steady fixture on television, he appeared in such made-for-TV films as adaptations of A.J. Cronin's Beyond This Place (1957) and The Citadel (1960), Bonanza (1961), and Brenda Starr (1976).

He played the title role in a Philco Television Playhouse version of Othello and acted in a CBS production of Beyond This Place (1957). He appeared in programs such as The Real McCoys, Thriller, Wagon Train, Gunsmoke, Perry Mason, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Daniel Boone and Mission: Impossible. He was cast as the sly space trader in an episode of Lost in Space. Thatcher, if not for his distinguished career, has been recognized by several generations of fans of Star Trek: The Original Series from his performance as Marplon, a member of the secret resistance in "The Return of the Archons". Just letting you know how much I liked your "Return of the Archons" review! I think I laughed the hardest at Kirk "running through his dialogue options" (complete with altered picture and Skyrim text font), and how his jacket "respawned in his inventory" when he took his robe off. XD

Aw, thank you so much! I’m very glad you liked the ‘dialogue options’ joke cause to be honest I was kinda unsure about how good that one was. But the way Kirk kept turning to Reger and/or Marplon and saying “Tell me about...” really did remind me a lot of a player methodically wringing all the exposition out of some NPCs. I half expected him to end the conversation by saying, “Goodbye,” and then stealing everything in the vicinity.
