About Us
Lights, Cameras, Action! Welcome to Project: Film, a movie and series analysis blog headed by Glen Mark Maravillo and Mary Micheline Pintado. The duo comprises of two Bachelor of Multimedia Art undergraduates with a collective passion for movies, production, and artistic expression.
While both are studying at Malayan Colleges Laguna, Glen is currently a freelance events filmmaker. It started when he decided to make it a career four years ago. He started with just taking simple and casual photos and videos, until he eventually decided to make it a passion and career. In his senior year, the best editor and best cinematographer titles were awarded to him for the short film named “Panumduman” in their school’s short film contest. The film was also awarded as best film out of the four entries. Continuing forward from that experience, he’s gaining different clients for debut, wedding, parties, and other events. He’s also part of a team that will help him improve as a photographer and cinematographer.
In contrast, Mary displays her passion for the arts through both personal and clientele illustrative freelance projects. She has recently began as a layout artist for MCL's multimedia journalist organisation, KAMALAYAN. Filmwise, Mary is an avid fan of YouTube movie analysis essays by channels such as Lessons from the Screenplay, The Closer Look, Acolytes of Horror, and notable others. Other than being a self-proclaimed movie critic, she has both storyboarded and animated for a 2D Animated short film called "Love and Other Elements.” This was one of the few features in CLICC's AniMalayan premiere last December 17, 2022.
With these expertise, Glen and Mary intend to further explore their current skill set through a number of compelling film-related topics. Hence, as the blog title suggests, Project:Film is a passion project compiling both authors' opinions on movies and shows of varying genres, popularity and/or channels. A safe space for like-minded film geeks to read unkept or far-out takes on their favourite movies.
Instead of the typical critic-takedown, this discussion-driven page steers with a reverence for the messages delivered through videographic mediums and how these affect the common viewer. Think of the adrenaline and suspense one would feel watching an action film for the first time as opposed to a 3rd rewatch. As well as, what aspects or scenes of certain media cause viewers to click off or scream at their screens. Project:Film explores these very factors, and more light-hearted film-related topics, through multimedia articles paired with videos, music and illustrations. After all, what's a film blog without a dash of artistry?
Now, sit down, grab your popcorn, and tune in with Project:Film pioneers, Glen and Mary as they venture through the twists and turns in the great wide world of film. Aaaaand. CUT! Good take.
