Science Family: How Shuri Became a Science Child™

the science family is made up of the science bros™ (Tony and Bruce) and their chaotic science children™ (Peter & Shuri)

but it used to just be the science bros and peter

When they first met Shuri, it was a normal day in the lab

they were all just tinkering around with their own different inventions, Peter developing a new web fluid, Tony working on revolutionizing clean energy, and Bruce trying to develop a new way to subdue the hulk

Peter and Bruce were very confused when the princess of Wakanda walked in

Tony was not

he had planned for Shuri to stop by the lab and compare notes on shield technology, because Wakanda was so advanced in that area

Peter and Bruce stuttered around their introductions for a minute, confused as to whether they should bow or shake hands? Maybe they should do both? Maybe they should do neither? Tony suggested they also do an interpretive dance but they ignored him

when the introductions were out of the way (Bruce and Peter decided bowing was the best choice until they were halfway through when Shuri said "there's no need for that" so Peter tried to act like the reason he had been leaning down was to kiss Shuri's hand, which she didn't like either, so she reeled back suddenly and he fell on the floor. Bruce just said, "sorry" and shook Shuri's hand) Tony and Shuri got to work

Bruce and Peter went back to work and pretended they weren't super interested in Shuri, the fricking princess of Wakanda who was also a scientific genius

they were trying to do their work but they kept getting distracted by what Tony and Shuri were talking about, it sounded super advanced and fascinating (Peter was also afraid that Shuri was Tony's new adoptive science child and he was jealous)

every time they would look over though, Tony would catch them and would laugh at them behind Shuri's back because they were too afraid to come over and ask what was going on

so finally they decided if they were gonna find out what Tony and Shuri were talking about (and if Peter was being replaced by his irondad), they would need a plan

luckily, there was Clint

so Bruce pretended he was going to the bathroom ("haha, bathroom breaks, ya know") and Peter pretended he was getting something to eat ("got this crazy metabolism, haha") but when they got out of the lab they immediately ran to Clint

he was doing target practice in his room

"what can I do for you"

"we need a way to spy-" "its not spying its covert research-" "on Tony and Shuri in the lab"

Clint knew exactly what to do, "ok so you're going to want to enter the vents here, take the first left, climb up the air shaft, then a right then another right then a left then a wonky zigzag then a left and then you should be there"

Bruce and Peter climbed into the vents

it wasn't as easy for them as it was for Clint (he had had practice) but they figured it out

they were doing great until they hit the wonky zigzag "I think he said left after this-" "no it was definitely right" but eventually they found their way to the vent in the lab, right above Shuri and Tony's heads

they got comfortable to listen to this fascinating conversation when they heard the whole vent creak

suddenly they realized that combined they were probably a lot heavier than Clint

"uh oh"

"mr banner im not sure if this was a good idea-"

they fell out of the ceiling right onto Tony and Shuri's heads

well, Bruce did, Peter did his own wonky zigzag and shot a web to the wall in midair and swung onto it

and that's how Shuri almost got crushed by a falling scientist and found out Peter was Spider-Man

In the end, after many apologies from Bruce and many "dont tell anyone" s from Peter, it was alright, Shuri said it was no big deal and of course she wouldn't reveal Peter's identity

(Tony was just laughing in the background this entire time)

"but," she said, "I am going to visit regularly because someone" (she looked pointedly at Bruce) "needs to show me all of his research on gamma radiation because I have a few ideas, and someone" (she looked pointedly at Peter) "needs to show me how he makes spiderwebs because honestly your current method is very inefficient, and two someones" (she looked pointedly at both of them) need to learn not to fall from the ceiling onto princesses' heads"

and that's how Shuri became part of the science family
