I've decided that I'm going to ignore Mass Effect 3's canon endings in favor of my own rewrite:
There will still be three possible endings:
Control - you've completely missed the plot of the games and have chosen Control. We hear Harbinger's voice saying "Assuming Direct Control" and Shepard's eyes glow white. Scenes of Reapers destroying the galaxy are intercut with all your companions (even ones from ME1 and 2 that have survived but aren't recruitable in 3) getting murdered by husks or being on ships blown up by Reapers.
Destroy - the other default option, destroys all synthetic life in the galaxy, including EVI and Shepard. Still a better ending than 1.
The Good Ending - if your Galactic Readiness is high enough and you've brokered peace between the quarians and the geth, Tali, Legion, and Evi help you reprogram the Crucible and blow up just the Reapers, leaving all other synthetic life alive.

HI SO I DISAPPEARED AGAIN!
Why? Mass Effect autism. 11 years too late. But anyway if anyone is still alive in this fanbase... here is Ronan Shepard!!
He's a paragon, colonist/sole survivor Shep who has Kaidan romanced, and honestly really needs a hug lol
Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 respectively;
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love him so. If you ask me about him I'll love you forever /p
(I also managed to get him to survive post-ME3!! That saved me crying again, which I have done a lot at this series)

Am finally playing MELE after picking it up at launch and once again falling head over heels for my various Shepards and I CANNOT stop thinking about one silly ass HC for my Vanguard, Ieva Shepard so here it goes.
After Ieva cures the genophage a bunch of krogan start suggesting that salarians might be on to One Thing, namely this reincarnation thing because look at the Facts:
female battlemaster
cuts a wide swathe through the galaxy leaving tears in her wake
good public speaker
Wrex says she's smart
has given many children to the krogan, albeit in a non-traditional way
charges enemies and hits them like a damn Tomkah when she does it
Conclusion: she’s Shiagur reborn and since the salarians say each life you learn something new this is the one where she learns how to not just be a crafty battlemaster but one who kicks ass in the traditional way too.
Some who say this are, of course, joking, many are very earnest though. When Grunt tells Ieva about it she asks which side he's on and he shrugs and says Shepard is Shepard, which Ieva is strangely touched by. When she asks Wrex he just smirks at her and lets her sweat about it lol

With leaders like these, every mission is a suicide mission

The plot of Mass Effect 3 consists largely of nearly every faction, and many individuals, making the worst decisions possible, with easily foreseeable results.
So I made a collage of some of the real strategic gems.

*chanting* battle couple!! Battle couple!!
Aka going through my screenshots from the last few days and realizing I got screenshots of the scenes I wrote about awhile back.
I’m half tempted to draw these scenes. I guess we’ll see.

Okay so by this point we're all aware about the dumpster fire that was the Mass Effect 3 ending. But here's the thing. If they just removed the last 15~ minutes of the game, it would have been perfect. I don't even mind Shepard dying really, just make it make sense for the love of god.
Like picture this.
After the Catalyst's beam has been shot out, and Anderson's death, Shepard is sitting by his corpse, nearly out of breath, and she looks up, and sees reaper corpses falling from the skies. She leans back, nearly breathless that the future she's fought so hard to save has been secured, and then closes her eyes. Then the credits roll.
That would have been so much more impactful than
RED GREEN OR BLU🤬🤬🤬🤬

How to Fix Mass Effect 3
Massive spoilers for Mass Effect 3 and the trilogy in general below the cut
This is the unhinged rant I slammed out to not forget the premises and how I had everything wrap up together.  I may or may not come back and polish it up/tighten a few things, but it’s the basic premise at least.
The Reapers have not full on invaded the galaxy, rather there are multiple advanced scouting parties that are being spotted throughout systems, making the galaxy unable to deny the Reapers are coming and that they exist.  Earth is still attacked by Reapers at the beginning, but not on nearly the scale of the game.
Anderson is still on Earth as a contact, Shepard makes it to the Normandy.  The crucible is the main, driving force of the game.  Shepard still travels the galaxy trying to recruit assets and species to the cause.  HOWEVER, the amount of war assets added to the crucible will directly influence the amount of options you have in the end game for how to take out the Reapers AND how effective that is.  Instead of planets being COMPLETELY besieged by Reapers like Palaven, they're only dealing with a much more manageable amount, and since the uptick in sightings has been gradual but noticeable, there's SLIGHTLY more preparation.  You still need to try and get the Krogan to join the fight, make peace with the Quarian and Geth, etc.  Rather than getting people to help retake Earth, it's getting people to help on the Crucible and be ready to go to war when the full fight happens.
HOWEVER, the Quarian/Geth peace would be much more weighty.  If you're able to broker peace between them, it's a conversation peace against Fuckstick McAsshole (aka Catalyst kid) like, "hey, yeah synthetics and humans were able to reconcile.  how's your fuckoff simulation account for that asshole.  how are you gonna study that phenomenon if you harvest us you idiot sandwich."  This causes a stutter in his programming that allows the Geth or someone to do an important thing.
The Prothean VI/Cerberus Kai Leng stealing it still happens, but Thessia isn't OVERRUN with Reapers.  Still fighting them, still dealing with invasion stuff, but not in like, the heart wrenching way the game did it.  You still go to the Cerberus base, burn it to the fucking ground with EXTREME prejudice and vicious satisfaction.  The Illusive Man still fucks the Citadel off to Earth.  What this does though, is trigger the full force of the Reapers to invade, cause that's what they were waiting for.  Now it's the final end game battle.
Like Mass Effect 2, you have more choices of where to send forces throughout the final push to get the crucible attached to the citadel.  For example, if there's a heavy ground thing, you can send Krogans or Asari Commandos or Alliance members or something like that, then in the dogfights it's Quarians or Turians.  Depending on the fights and in game prompts, it's hinted at who the best choices would be, and they will effect casualties and the ease of the push to the Citadel.  There's still a ground force that has to get into the Citadel, but it's much more similar to the Ilos push where it's a race against time in the Mako or a Mako esque thing, then fighting to open the wings of the Citadel.
When you get there and meet up with Fuckstick McAsshole again, this is where the amount of War Assets you have in the Crucible comes to bear the strongest.  The purpose of the Crucible was always to destroy the Reapers.  What the number of War Assets determines is how thoroughly the Reapers are destroyed and with what consequences.  X level, general EMP, Geth and Edi are shot too and relays all explode.  Y level, general EMP, Geth and Edi gone, some relays explode, up to no relays explode.
NOW HERE'S WHERE THE GETH/QUARIANS COME INTO PLAY.  Shepard is with her squad in this, and comms are functional and open to fleet leaders.  If the Quarians and Geth are at peace, bringing this up to Fuckstick McAsshole causes his computations to glitch when Shepard brings up that he won't be able to see how it plays out if he harvests the cycle.  Geth hear the options and are like, "hey, we have a Reaper IFF we could just, reverse the logic from friend to foe" so the EMP only targets Reaper IFF signatures.  The final fight is fucking with Fuckstick McAsshole's waves of Reaper forces or whatever the hell he throws at you while the Geth install and rewrite the Reaper IFF.
No massive war outbreak, just skirmishes and hope.  You can destroy all the Reapers, save all your friends, and preserve the Mass Relays, everyone lives happily ever after, the end.

I’m literally sobbing my eyes out please tell me that’s not how it ends. I can’t believe Shepard has to sacrifice herself no matter the choice she chooses. I chose the control ending because I didn’t want to kill all synthetics, thought that was going to be the better ending but oh my god, that was not the case at all . Then seeing all the other people that died and then Garrus placing Shepard’s name on the memorial wall stabbed me in the heart. It’s just not fair. She was supposed to come back.
Shepard did a lot to save the whole galaxy. I was just hoping the galaxy did the same for her..

I still don’t like the options in Mass Effect 3s ending but control is the only one that seems remotely decent.
So far arguments against it(I’ve seen) are basically fans making stuff up. If you can’t trust what the game tells you then whats the point of discussing it lol.
Synthesis is a monstrous violation of all biological and synthetic life’s consent, and bending the knee to the reapers goals.
Destruction is the “I don’t care anymore” ending where you genocide the geth and kill edi just on principle. That it has been the goal the whole time is a moot point if it turns out to be a shitty goal at the end.
Control on a paragon Shepard on the other hand. “To ensure that all have a voice in their future”-Reaper-Shepard. That quote immediately obliterates the argument against control that RS might just go back to the cycles at some point.

Did they add new dialogue to Citadel DLC? I remember beating James pull up record and having like almost no dialogue. But playing through the Legendary he's commenting almost the whole time.
I'm sure they didn't but it was a little more fun doing it this time. Poor Shepard though, her arms are noodles now.

I finally finished Dean Shepard's play through, all three games on insanity!!! And I cried so hard because I chose synthesis since he's not my canon Shepard. Let me explain, I chose the destroy ending for my canon Shepard Brooklyn because I didn't want her to be dead. Now that I've seen the synthesis ending I've changed my mind about the destroy one. Dean sacrificing himself made me burst into tears broooo. So did Brooklyn being alive at the very end but I don't trust Bioware and it's abilities to put the players' choice for Shepard in the next game so it really doesn't matter if they're alive, does it? Also synthesis makes so much fuckin sense to me and the only reason I didn't choose it was I wanted Shep to survive. Anywho I started a new game + w/ Brooklyn Shepard on insanity. She's a soldier and turns out I low-key enjoy insanity and make myself suffer.
