Is there a Hindsight timeline in which everything is fairly similar to canon, just a bit brighter?

Like. Terminus and Galvatron still live. Poor but happy. Megatron decides to join the military, I guess to follow in Galvatron's footsteps? During one of his scheduled downtime, he heads to the library and encounters a clerk, Orion Pax. They hit it off, and soon declare it official.

They move in together and eventually there's at least one grandchild for Terminus and Galvatron to fuss over.

Hmmmm... kind of? To a point? The next timeline, they do live exclusively on Cybertron before the Allspark gets yeeted. Galvatron and Terminus don't have a lot, but they're able to raise their son without major incident or separation. Every timeline has some pretty significant derivatives from canon, just due to the nature of a fic like this.

As far as grandsparks go, that won't happen until timeline 5 onward. Timeline 5 is the first one where there's no civil war--Cybertron's issues are resolved without fighting, so megop bitties are on the table in that one. I hope this answered your question ^-^

I have really fallen into your megop multiverse, what sort of sort family dynamic does idw have with their sons and grandchild just wondering

Megatron: he’s not a very flexible man, so it happens way too often that his decisions sound final. As a result, depending on whether it’s Rodimus or Bumblebee he’s talking to, he would get vastly different reactions - Bumblebee is more accepting and tries to walk around Megatron’s “order of things” to - in the end - allow whatever he wants to do. Rodimus just goes straight into fighting mode since he doesn’t enjoy being told what to do, which results in constant bickering. In actuality, Rodimus is way closer to Megatron than Bumblebee is, he’s just too stubborn to show it. Somehow he’s the more sensible of the two parents, and by sensible I mean “ok TALK to me about your emotions and I will be extremely direct on my replies but in a way, it’s helpful”. He is the nagging one of the two parents as if that wasn’t clear enough.

Optimus: he’s had an “emotionally distant father” phase that lasted for a big chunk of Rodimus late childhood/teenagehood, which results in an unspoken conflict with the his youngest son. He deeply cherishes both his children, but Bumblebee has always been easier to talk to because he doesn’t challenge him. Too much. Both him and Rodimus have a gigantic need of validation and that makes them clash with one another whenever they speak frankly about things. Optimus would mostly have internal monologues about his own emotions and never disclose them to his sons, trying to act said feelings out with… no previous discussion… so everyone is just very confused and sometimes hurt. He is a good dad though!!! He’s just a mess because his own family was an uncaring mess lol

Bumblebee: first thing, he was adopted, and that forged his relationship with his parents and brother differently. Not really because anyone ever treated him as not belonging, but mostly because Rodimus put him in front of the fact that he was “different”. It still bothers him at times, but that was a problem he mostly had as a teenager. He’s also 12 years older than Rodimus, which means he had a certain exclusivity for a long time, and that meant he met Optimus at his best! Best dad! Bumblebee has always been softer with his parents, compared to Rodimus; he tries to get where they’re coming from, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t a sharp tongue to reply when they’re being irrational about things. He can and will put his foot down on things. I mean, to be married to Starscream you cannot do otherwise.

Rodimus: validation boy. He is the fiery child of the house. Extremely stubborn but also extremely frail, his ego makes him fight with his parents a lot, all the time. But it’s mostly because he really wants to be loved by them; mostly acts out to get attention and sometimes ends up in troubles lol. He is very charismatic though, and has a very open “talk about whatever” relationship with Megatron. Rodimus is… kind of a mom’s boy. The mom being Megatron. Momgatron’s boy. That’s mostly due to the fact that his father has always been too distant to have an actual conversation with – but he admires Optimus a lot.  He has two conflicting thought processes of “do things for attention” and “do things to have Father’s approval”. It ends in chaos!!! But he tries. He is a very good boy, and Bumblebee always tells him so; he just needs to calm down a bit.

Rubble: he is, indeed, a thoughtful baby. His grandparents love him a lot. Rotund child.
