Lydia
Warning: Angst, hurtfic, hints of cheating, slut shaming
Pairing: Melissa Schemmenti x Reader, Melissa x Gary, Olivia Benson x sister!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She hadn’t worked there very long only a month or so
Everyone loved Lydia the third grade teacher who almost bested Melissa Schemmenti.. almost but it was safe to say she made everyone swoon. Jealousy was an ugly accessory that both Melissa and Gary seemed to wear the couple both eyeing the new teacher.
Am I surprised to see you here with Lydia? Melissa thought as she entered the break room to see Gary and the woman. She’s oh so nice and easier to love than I the redhead wanted to slap her boyfriend for how easily his attention was given. As he eyed Lydia making her coffee neither noticing the redhead enter “how does Mel like her coffee?” She asked gently grabbing another cup down. “She should be in soon so I want it to be ready when she’s here” Melissa smiled at your kindness “im not sure” Gary scratched his head before refilling the vending machine.
But no, I won’t hold it against her
My baby, my baby the first person to love since she divorced Joe swooning over another woman so blatantly. Lydia always shrugged him off with a polite smile though you could see it in her eyes she hated it all the attention from him. “Don’t you want me anymore?” Melissa asked him once they were alone he avoided eye contact and that told her everything she needed to hear.
Her arms are warm the redhead smiled to herself as she relaxed in Lydia’s embrace both women standing alone in the empty classroom. Melissa let herself enjoy this moment of peace with her friend that she had just vented about Gary to.
Her legs are wide and so’s her smile even Barbara would be lying if she said she didn’t have a little bit of a girl crush on the woman. Lydia stood beside Melissa at the counter as she made them both another cup of coffee, she was the woman the redhead always wished to be.
She’ll take you on
Where I would slap you down and hide
Melissa hadn’t always been the badass Italian everyone knew it had taken years to grow her skin yet Lydia did it so effortlessly. Always talking back to the rude parents with ease and the sleezeball fathers constantly trying to start an affair. She had a confidence that captivated people that drew them into her so easily.
But no, I won’t hold it against her
Melissa was so used to having someone to smother to care for that once Gary drifted away she felt almost hollow. Though Lydia always promised there wasn’t anything going on and that the man loved her even if it burned to admit. Lydia loved Melissa but she wasn’t the type to break a relationship over such feelings so she stayed quiet and supportive.
Now wasn’t the time to jump into anything new for Lydia she was doing just fine being friends.
My baby, my baby
Don’t you want me anymore
My baby, my baby
Don’t you need me anymore
Her lips are cold it was now winter as Lydia walked into the break room in her layers lips having turned blue almost purple as she grabbed her mug. Melissa couldn’t stop staring at her smile the skin on her lips had begun to split slightly.
He talks too tired
To say goodbye
Gary would normally be almost bouncing off the walls just being near Melissa but now he seemed almost drained as he barely smiled at the woman. Barbara caught on she was a lot of things but she wasn’t stupid nobody could miss how he looked at you.
So take the time to reel me in and wash me out
But treat her right
And no, I wont hold it against her
Against her
Melissa knew when to call it quits Lydia had won a competition she didn’t know she was in and the redhead couldnt be mad. The woman had done nothing she knew it all from her first marriage but watching as the pair quickly distanced themselves it broke her.
Lydia left for a while and nobody knew why she had just vanished for a week having Ava surprisingly cover her classes. It only lead Melissa to that sinking feeling that Gary and Lydia were going behind her back.
My baby, my baby
Don’t you want me anymore
My baby, my baby
Don’t you need me anymore
“Ms. Benson?” The young receptionist spoke softly as she entered the breakroom “yes dear?” Lydia smiled “there’s a woman here she said she’s your sister? She at the front office”. The woman nodded getting up from her seat unaware of everyone’s curious gaze.
You seemed to know all about them yet they knew nothing about you.
My baby, my baby
Don’t you want me anymore
My baby, my baby
Don’t you love me anymore
Melissa couldn’t believe Gary would even propose to Lydia without breaking up with her first she was heartbroken. Someone who became one of her closest friends doing that behind her back? She decided enough was enough.
Melissa had cornered both you and Gary in your classroom yelling about an affair that didn’t exist, slut shaming and name calling. She threw pens and pulled her hair, Gary didn’t know what to do and neither did you Melissa had herself convinced she didn’t care.
Angrily you stomped to your desk taking the small box out of the top drawer throwing it to Gary “i’m done” you laughed grabbing your bag and leaving. Only then did Melissa stop “Lydia was helping me to propose” Gary swallowed unable to meet Melissa’s eyes.
My baby, my baby
Don’t you want me anymore
Don’t you love me anymore
The next time Melissa saw Lydia was at the woman’s front door, the brunette sat on her doorstep tear stained and puffing a cigarette. The redhead felt guilty no she was guilty and she felt horrible to just assume such things and to act the way she did.
A little boy ran around the front lawn happily before another slightly older brunette woman walked out from behind Lydia. Melissa stepped out of her car warily as she made her way to the small group the other woman quick to meet the brunette ready to fight.
“Olivia it’s just Melissa” you waved off with a sigh Melissa? You never said her full name “what do you want?” You looked tired. “I’m sorry, I should’ve listened to you” Melissa played with the hem of her shirt “you’re sorry? Okay” you shrugged.
“I think it’s best if you leave” Olivia cleared her throat as she raised an eyebrow to Melissa’s truck in the driveway “she doesn’t need this at the moment”
Melissa lost Gary
Now she was losing you too

Hey Jealously
Reader doesn’t like when the vending machine guy flirts with Melissa.
This is a quick drabble, trying to get my brain going again. Feel free to send requests!
“I’m just saying if they cast a man in that role the character wouldn’t have gotten so much hate.”
“It’s okay, dude.” You laugh patting Jacob’s shoulder, sitting with him and Janine so Mel and Barb can have their time during lunch.
The relationship with the devastatingly gorgeous redhead was still new, but you had the feeling others were catching on. Neither you or Melissa tried to hide anything, but you both toned down the PDA when at work because of the setting itself.
“What’s the kid whining about now?” Melissa asks shifting in her seat, glasses on the bridge of her nose.
Smiling at your girlfriend you open your mouth to explain, only to stop short when vending machine guy comes in.
“How are my favorite teachers doin?” He asks with a smile on his stupidly huge Neanderthal face. Okay, maybe that was harsh, but you didn’t like how he flirted with Melissa.
Last Thursday he brought her a whole case of her favorite iced tea. The week before that he tried talking her into going out with him which she politely declined, and now he looks at Melissa like an animal hunting its prey.
“Good now that we got Gushers back in the machine,” Leave it to Janine’s sunny disposition to ease the tension you’re feeling. You watch closely as Gary eyes your lady, and it makes you see red. You hadn’t felt the need to say anything to Melissa about the vending machine guy, she never flirted back but you couldn’t help the pang of jealousy you felt.
“Hey Philly 11, you put any thought into my offer?” He grins not having a clue as to what’s going on.
The look on your face must worry Janine and Jacob, because Jacob stands up and leaves the table going to the sink.
“Nah, Gary. I got other stuff going on.” A good response, you think. She’s still facing your table and hasn’t looked up from her phone.
“If you change your mind I-“
“She said she’s got other stuff going on.” You huff firmly.
Barb is the first to look at you, missing the smirk on her friends face. Gary nods cowering away with his cart, not to be seen again until next week.
Feeling your skin flush you duck your head meeting Melissa’s eyes. As the redhead stands up you sit back in your chair leaning into her when she wraps her arms around your shoulders from behind kissing your cheek. “Jealous there, hon?”
Janine is pouting at the two of you, looking back and forth between your table and Barb like a deer in the headlights.
Barb laughs shaking her head with a knowing smile looking at you. “Ava owes me a significant amount of money. Good job, sweetheart.”

The way melissa repeatedly told gary she didn’t want to get married and he didnt listen
But she neglected to tell barb about the fireman hookups and she was upset she didn’t know
The man she loved couldnt even listen to the most important things but the woman she loves her best friend thinks everything is important enough to hear

Abbott Elementary 2.14 "Valentine's Day" Thoughts (semi-inspired by @cdyssey's post)
Janine: "It's like, I don't remember what happened on the last season of Stranger Things--that was ten years ago." Burn.
It's interesting to me that Janine's projecting all this neediness from her sister ("I'm not your therapist"). Makes me think about how sometimes, when people have had their boundaries chronically ignored in one area of life, they may misattribute the source of their exhaustion to something or someone else.
That crossing guard is so beautiful, tbh.
Love Barbara and Melissa's different face reactions to Jacob's overshare about his relaysh.
I don't know how Melissa could afford Barclay Prime, but I want some steak and pearls. :P
Ava putting her picture with Iggy down (and then back up when Tristan says "I'm here to complain")
Tbh, I've heard people make that "underpaying a white teacher to teach Black history is almost reparation" argument unironically in real life.
So glad they snuck in some history discussion about MLK and Malcolm X (and it makes me think Jacob has grown as a teacher).
I like how Barbara is the one making the V-Day dinner reservations (breaking stereotypes and sharing emotional labor in the relationship).
"When I called him on it and said 'Do you have feelings for Janine?' he like, didn't answer!" - Shipper mood
"Like an anti-racist Icarus" #CRT
Barb: "Although I think workplace romances are a terrible idea..." This would be a great launch point for a "Do as I say, not as I do (or do as I do anyway because I ship it)" fic.
"Sweetheart, it is possible to like two people at the same time." This is true and important. It doesn't necessarily mean Barb thinks one should pursue romantic relationships with multiple people, but this is a fact that I actually think younger generations understand less well than older generations. And I appreciate the Abbott writers' exploding the dichotomy!
I just enjoy the comedic set-up of Ava sitting down at Zach and Jacob's Valentine's Day lunch table.
I would think that Lego bouquet is so cool. I agree with Janine.
I thought that the surprise was going to be Zach proposing to Jacob, but Ava's announcement works too. :,)
Ava is an autodidact!
Maurice noticing and complimenting the gel-x <3
I'm not sure Gregory knows what a Telfar bag is either, tbh.
Janine says "I love it" about the bag in the same way she said "I love it" about a broken printer. Oof.
Shoutout to Spirit Airlines XD
"You're welcome to join us." Other people have this covered, but WHAT?
Barb at least had a sense that Gary was going to do something for Valentine's.
I wonder whether Melissa's learning disability affected her initial reading of "I (heart) U" and made her think "IOU." Kind of interesting that she didn't assume that it was about Gary's love through context, however.
Barb says "I love you" with such tenderness. Also, what is with her microexpressions?? I think she might be saying "Girl, come on" when Melissa's slow on the uptake, but I'm also seeing something complex and perhaps...melancholy there.
New relationship energy amplifies everything. Melissa has stability and comfort with Barbara, at least in a platonic sense, that she doesn't have with Gary yet.
That was a fun and 'inspiring' episode.

She Said What (Melissa Schemmenti x f!Reader)
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Seeing Gary get down on one knee shattered you. Tasting Melissa on your lips put you back together again.
Words: 2.5k
Warnings: none
It was like taking a knife to the gut, twisting in your intestines, leaving you gasping for breath. You weren’t meant to be there. Eyes darting around the room, you were desperate for escape. You couldn’t breathe. One step back, then another, you fled down the hall before you could hear the answer.
Gary had asked Melissa to marry him. And you, like an idiot, had fallen completely in love with her.
When it had been nothing but a relationship, kept on the outskirts, it was easier. Avoiding the break room on Tuesdays, not asking about weekend plans or prying to much into her relationship, you could keep your friendship with her devoid of any details. It was easier that way. You couldn’t be plagued of thoughts of the two of them together. If you didn’t think about it, your jealousy couldn’t run rampant, ruining your friendship with her.
Now though…
You’d be seeing the ring on her finger. You might be invited to the wedding. She might change her last name. It would be everywhere, in your face, reminding you how the woman you love was not yours to love. That your chance with her had slipped away.
Career day was a bust and you needed escape and yet you were trapped in your classroom with the kids, praying the clock would speed up and you would have your freedom. Right now, Melissa was somewhere in the building, a new sparkly ring on her finger, joy in her heart, desperate to go home and celebrate with her new fiancé.
You felt sick at the thought.
The bell rung and you thanked the mechanic who had come to speak to your class, shaking his oil stained hand. Sinking down onto your chair, you buried your head in your hands, letting out a long breath. You would have groaned if not for being in a place anyone walking past could hear. All you wanted was to pack up your stuff and go home, curling up in your bed and letting yourself give in to the pressure building behind your eyes.
“You look like you’ve had a day about as good as mine.”
You startled, looking up from the hands your head was resting in. Melissa was walking into your classroom, hands thrust into the pockets of her leather jacket. You blinked, trying to rearrange your face into something celebratory, not the despair you’d been feeling all afternoon. Stretching your lips into a smile, you felt it stiffen as you looked at her.
“Hey,” you said, “congratulations. I saw the feed. It was a beautiful proposal.”
“It was,” she agreed, resting against the edge of one of the student’s desks, much as she had at the front of her classroom when Gary got down on one knee.
“You must be so happy,” you said.
“Not really,” she replied with a small shrug.
“Well, not when you’re here with me but I bet Gary is waiting at home for you to celebrate,” you said, offering her a sheepish smile.
“He better not be. I don’t need another restraining order,” she said.
“Ha, yeah,” you said, “wait, what?”
She quirked an eyebrow up at you. You had no ides what was going on, on the back foot of the conversation so quickly. When her lips quirked up, you lost any words to try and fix whatever situation you’d found yourself in.
“Hon, did you see my answer?” she asked.
“Of course I did,” you replied, laughing uncomfortably.
She sighed, shoulders relaxing, “I said no.”
“What?” That was not what you were expecting.
“I said no. You know I have no interest in being married again. He didn’t listen no matter how many times I told him. We want different things,” she said.
‘So you…?” You didn’t want to assume after your last assumption had gone so badly.
“We broke up,” she said.
“Oh, Mel, I’m so sorry.”
You made your way around your desk, perching beside her. You found her leaning against your shoulder, soft hair brushing against you as you curled an arm around her waist. Her head rested against you, shifting closer.
“It’s better we realised. No resentment, no cheating, no attempted murder. A clean break before anyone could get really hurt,” she said.
“Still, it sucks,” you said.
“Yeah, it does,” she sighed.
“I really am sorry,” you said.
“Really? I always got the impression you didn’t really like him,” she said.
You stiffened. She drew away from you, turning those beautiful green eyes onto you. You tried to stutter out an answer, to refute her claim, to lie right to her face. But there was nothing. No words came out and you were left staring at her, anxiety swooping in your stomach.
“You were never comfortable when I talked about him so I stopped but I always wondered what was wrong with him,” she said.
“Is that why you said no?” Guilt curled in your stomach.
“Of course not. I really don’t want to get married again. Once was enough. I guess I’m just curious what you saw in him,” she said.
“I didn’t really know him,” you said, offering her a non-committal shrug.
“But you didn’t like him,” she said, not bothering to phrase it as a question.
“It was nothing about him. I’m sure he was fine. Nice even. And you loved him. He wasn’t a bad guy as far as I could tell,” you said.
“He’s not. But I thought we were good enough friends that you’d be honest with me,” she said.
Guilt again, washing over you, wave after wave. She was still looking at you, a small lopsided smile both sad and hopeful. You sighed, leaning into her again, not wanting those eyes assessing you anymore.
“It wasn’t about him. I mean sure, I thought you could do better but it was more to do with me. I didn’t want that to get between us and ruin our friendship,” you said.
“Can’t you just tell me what the issue was?” she asked.
“I don’t think that will make you feel better,” you said.
She hopped off the desk, moving to stand in front of you. You swallowed past a lump in your throat, averting your eyes down to your hands clasped between your thighs. With a forefinger, she tilted your chin up until you were looking back in her eyes.
“I can handle it, hon,” she said.
“Mel,” you sighed, not sure how to finish the sentence.
“It can’t be that bad,” she said, “unless he was the man who mugged your nanna.”
“I don’t think he was,” you said, giving her a weak smile.
“So what is it?”
The finger on your chin was practically burning your skin. You took a deep breath, anxiety making your fingertips tingle and your stomach roil. She was still watching you and you couldn’t tell what emotion it was swimming in her eyes.
“I didn’t want to hear about your relationship because… because…” You squeezed your eyes shut, “because I was jealous.”
“Aw, hon, you’ll find your guy one day,” she said, gently nudging you in the shoulder.
That was not the answer you were expecting. You peeked over to her, her smile softened as she looked at you. You shook your head.
“Not of your relationship,” you said, shoulders slumping, not wanting to keep the secret after coming so close to telling her, “of him.”
“What?” she asked, her smile slipping for a moment.
“Mel,” you sighed, “I’ve been half in love with you for a while now. And I’m sorry that it didn’t work out with Gary because I don’t like you hurting. I don’t want you think this is me trying to swoop in the second you’re single. I’m not that unfeeling.”
The smile had completely left her face, eyes widening and the shock evident. You could only stare at her, waiting for some kind of reaction. Mostly you were waiting to be told to get the hell away from her and never speak to her again. Her hands landed on your knees, fingers digging in as she gripped you hard.
“Hon,” she said, voice catching and you squeezed your eyes closed again, waiting for the slap, “can you look at me?”
You opened your eyes again. She was peering into your face, eyes swimming with an emotion you couldn’t name. Her lips were quirked at the corners, just enough for your heart to begin beating double time. Hands slid further up your legs as she lent towards you. You didn’t know what was going on and you were scared to move. Frozen under her touch, all you could do was stare back at her.
“I wish I’d known. I wish you’d told me,” she said.
“Would it have made a difference?” you asked.
“Of course, hon. If I’d known…” She shook her head.
“It’s fine. I won’t make it weird. We can still be friends. It’ll be like you never knew,” you said, panic beginning to set in. You were desperate not to lose her in all of this. This was like your worst nightmare coming to life before your very eyes.
“I didn’t just break up with Gary because he wanted to get married,” she said, interrupting you before you could continue rambling your reassurances, “there was a part of me that knew I had feelings for you. He couldn’t be my miracle when there was someone else.”
“What?” You couldn’t comprehend what she was saying.
“I wish you’d said something earlier, hon. If I’d known then Gary and I would have never gotten to this point,” she said. Her hands were still moving further up your legs until they were holding your hips.
“I don’t understand,” you said.
“Hon, I’m saying I have feelings for you too,” she said, a smile breaking over her face, bright and heartbreaking and everything you’d wanted to see for so long, “I know this probably isn’t the right time to say it but you’re hot and I like you.”
“You just broke up with Gary,” you said.
“I did. Doesn’t change how I feel about you,” she said, shrugging.
“This is an emotional rollercoaster.” Your lips stretched into a smile, small and soft and the way she seemed to melt at the sight of it only had you reeling again, “isn’t this too soon?”
“Yeah, probably, so we’ll take it slow,” she said.
“Slow?”
“Look, I dunno how this is gonna go but I do know that I like you enough that I want to give this a go. I’ve been single for a few hours and I’m probably going to have to deal with stuff from ending my relationship with Gary so we’ll take it slow and figure it out together. Sound good?”
You thought about it, turning it over in your mind. You’d thought, in your wildest dreams, that if you were offered the chance to be with Melissa you’d grab it with both hands but coming right off the back of her break up it felt… tenuous. But giving it a chance might be the best thing you could do, if only to not have to think about the what if on your death bed.
“Slow sounds good,” you said.
She relaxed, as if she’d been bracing herself for rejection. The smile on her face grew more sure of itself, more playful as she lent in. You shivered when her breath hit your skin, and you looked up into sparkling green eyes. You felt your cheeks heat up under her gaze and blinked, trying to take in her beauty. Trapping your bottom lip between your teeth, you worried at it, breath frozen, watching her with wide eyes and racing heart.
“Must say, hon, you’re pretty cute when you’re nervous,” she said.
“Nervous?” you managed to squeak out, “I’m not nervous.”
“No?” she asked, drawing closer again, lips brushing the shell of your ear as she whispered, “are you sure?”
“Mel,” came out as a strangled noise, “this doesn’t feel slow.”
“Feels like I’m moving pretty slowly to me,” she replied, lips slow to press to your cheek.
A small noise came from your parted lips. She chuckled, drawing back far enough for you to see the way her eyes were smouldering as they focused in on your lips. You found yourself leaning toward her, drawn into her orbit, the gravity of her dragging you closer.
“I suppose one kiss isn’t so fast,” you murmured.
“I’m glad you agree,” she said.
Her lips pressed to yours, muffling a gasp. Arms wound around her neck, fingers burying themselves in red curls. Her fingers dug into your hips, hauling you closer until you were on the edge of the desk, her body caught between your thighs. Her tongue ran along your lower lip, teeth nipping when you moaned into her mouth.
If this was slow, you could get on board with it.
She drew back, making you whimper, fingers tightening on her hair. She placed one last chaste kiss to your lips before disentangling your fingers. The step she took back made you feel bereft before you reminded yourself that today wasn’t about you. You couldn’t imagine the emotional rollercoaster she’d been on that day. Your’s had been bad enough.
“Can we renegotiate this going slow thing?” she asked.
“No,” you laughed, no matter how much you wished you could, “we should go slow. I mean, what are your plans tonight?”
“Drinking wine until I don’t feel embarrassed that I turned down a proposal in front of Jalen Hurts,” she replied.
“Exactly,” you said, giving her an indulgent smile even as your heart raced.
She chuckled, shoving her hands into her jacket pockets, taking another step back from you. Your teeth sunk into your lip, swollen from her kisses, as you considered her.
“You might be onto something,” she said.
“But maybe, when the embarrassment has dimmed a bit, we can go out,” you said.
“Yeah, I’d like that,” she said.
“Great, well…” A smile was taking over your face, “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“I suppose you will,” she said.
Watching her back out of the room, all you wanted to do was reach out and pull her back to you. She paused in the doorway before she strode back to you, both hands cupping your cheeks and kissing you so thoroughly you lost any train of thought you might have been having. Nodding to herself, she turned her back on you, striding out. You watched her, dumbstruck, wondering how you’d somehow managed to get so lucky.
From the absolute travesty of seeing Gary propose to her to ending with the promise of a date and the taste of her still on your lips. You had no idea how you’d gotten so lucky.

Tumblr media
Melissa would never admit to anyone how much she liked the effect she had on you. She loved to watch your head duck down nervously when she complimented you or guided you along with a hand on your lower back. Every single time she left the light tremor of your body, but not once did she mention it. You were glad she couldn’t feel your heartbeat the moment her attention was on you.
The first time she noticed it changed her entire perspective on you.
Melissa wasn’t the kind to talk to the new hires, the turnover rates at Abbott were laughable and they never stayed more than a couple of months. But after a few months, she started to pay attention. Over time, she got to see just how much you really cared for the kids. She had stopped by to ask if you had an extra purple whiteboard marker, but she was met with the sight of you kneeling in front of one of your students, big, sad tears in her eyes. She could just barely hear the mutterings of I know it hurts sweetie and the one that made a little smile cross her lips, of course I have shark band-aids, what am i? A chump? She sees you start to stand to grab the bandage and decides to move now before she gets caught staring.
Right as she steps close to you, you rise and spin around. Your action staggers as you notice her form too late, and nearly falling as you try to avoid running into her, nearly. Strong hands grasp your upper arms, saving you from landing flat on your ass.
Your head tilts up to face her, finally registering that it was Melissa. It takes you a second to breathe before you let out a little, “thank you.”
“Of course, hon. My fault anyways,” she says with a small smile. There’s an almost too long pause before she realizes her hands are still on your arms, dropping them immediately to fold them across her chest. You’re almost in a daze just looking at her, but you have to keep up appearances.
“Did you need something?” You say with a soft smile. Melissa noticed how your eyes never left hers for a second after she called you hon, she also thinks that you’d never looked her in the eyes before then. It had never gone unnoticed that you always looked at her bangs or the frame of her glasses whenever you’d spoken before.
Interesting... Melissa thinks to herself.
And then Melissa began to see a pattern.
You’d given her the extra dollar she needed for her iced tea, four quarters stacked tails-up in front of her. She didn’t ask anyone, only sighed when she checked her purse.
“Thanks sweetheart,” Melissa said without really thinking.
Your eyes widen for a fraction of a second before you catch yourself, accompanied by a quick inhale. Licking your lips and averting your eyes from her, you quietly say, “yeah. of course, anytime.”
Barbara must notice Melissa’s intrigue suddenly and speaks up, “dear, why don’t you come sit with us? I don’t think we’ve gotten a chance to know each other just yet.”
This marked the start of yours and Melissa’s friendship.
“You got plans Saturday?” Melissa says as she pours a cup of coffee into her Tucci mug.
You look up from your phone and take a breath in, “I have lunch with my cousin at noon, but I’m free later on. Why, what do you have planned?”
“That flea market’s coming back around, the one with the good antiques and the petting zoo,” you almost speak but she cuts you off, “oh, and that apple cider you liked.”
You smile at her remembering that detail before responding, “yeah, that sounds perfect. I can text you when I leave the diner.” Your voice thankfully doesn’t seem to give away how nervous you were trying not to seem. You take a sip from your mug to hide yourself for a moment.
“Great. I’m looking forward to it, babe,” she says through a sip of her own coffee. She stays just long enough to watch you nearly choke on your tea, and then slips out to walk to her classroom with a satisfied smirk on her face.
At the development week meeting, she turned to see you looking around for a place to sit. When you miss her wave to get your attention, she decides to yell your name across the gymnasium to get you to look in her direction. Your head whips her way, a grateful smile on your face when you see her waving you over. She decidedly loves the shy smile that was reserved for only her.
Stepping over nurse Makiah to get to the free seat, you finally plop down next to the redhead. Something possesses Melissa and her arm moves on its own to rest across the back of your seat, hand resting on your arm. She feels you stiffen for a moment, almost thinking she’d overstep, but you relax into her touch.
“You didn’t have to save me a seat. These are prime real estate to bleacher-leaners,” you mumble to her as one of the eighth grade teachers goes on about something that wasn’t as important as her fingers tracing little patterns over your shirt.
Melissa chuckles lightly, squeezing your shoulder lightly. She leans in to answer, “but then I wouldn’t have you sitting here, tesoro.” Your eyes go to your lap as you fail to hide the smile from her words, making the redhead’s heart rate pick up.
“You’re too nice to me, Schemmenti,” you say as you lift your head, with what little courage you have, to look at her and smile, leaning into her for a second.
Then an idea struck Melissa
Tuesday was vending machine restock day. Tuesday was your new least favorite day of the week. Totally unrelated.
Gary, the vending machine guy, had started a habit of flirting with Melissa. He started with giving her a free iced tea straight from the truck, and then chatting, then complimenting, and then just straight up checking her out with no shame. Every time he entered the room, your voice died in your throat, and your eyes stayed trained on him with a special kind of hatred. You were at least thankful Melissa hadn’t noticed the rage you felt when he had a conversation with her breasts. Melissa, in fact, did notice.
She watched how you stared daggers into his back as he spoke to her, completely unaware of her attention flicking to you every now and then. Your fork angrily stabbed at the lunch she’d brought you, not a single bite being taken since the vendor walked in the door. The more forward Gary got, the quieter and angrier you became. Once he left and Melissa’s focus went back to you entirely, as it always was, your shoulders relaxed and the assault on the pasta stopped.
Melissa decides she has a theory to test. She plays into Gary’s flirting some more, enough that the man is clearly picking up on it, and your hand stills. By the third week, Barbara is begging her to go on a date with the man.
“Girl, he likes you. You should give it a shot, he’s a nice man. Handsome too,” Barbara says with enthusiasm. Your eyes roll as you look at your phone, trying to tune out this conversation. Your resolve cracks a little when Ava mumbles that’s generous in response to Barbara’s comment, a tiny chuckle espacing you.
The kindergarten teacher nudges your hand, “don’t you think she should go for it?”
You struggle with trying to not just flat out say no so instead you settle with, “yeah. Gary seems really nice.” The thin smile on your face is unconvincing to both women, and it’s easy to read on both their faces. You quickly grab your stuff and stand, “I’m gonna head back to my room and pass out their math quizzes. I’ll see you later.”
Once the door closes behind you, Barbara looks at Melissa, “what was that?”
Melissa just shrugs, feigning obliviousness.
When Gary finally gets the nerve to ask her out, she laughs and agrees. You think the gods above must have it out for you, not letting you escape any interaction between the two. The fork in your hand just stabs harder at the food in the tupperware. After watching with a tinge of regret, Melissa finally speaks up.
“You alright over there, gioia?” She asks, her voice filled with real concern. You look at her for a moment, considering what to say, but settle with a nod. When your gaze drops again, you miss her lips dipping into a small frown.
Monday morning after the big date, you realize that being in the lounge was a mistake. You should have known to go straight to your classroom, but the need to see Melissa overrode your actions.
As you walked in, everyone was facing Melissa and asking her about every little detail of the date. Where’d they go? Was the food good? Did he offer to pay it all or ask to split the bill? What did she wear? She gives them all they want to hear, and only Ava asks what you didn’t want to know.
“Cut the bull. Did you let him hit or not?”
A chorus of AVA! goes around the room.
The redhead just sighs before answering, “why did you say it like that? And no, I did not ‘let him hit,’ Ava.” You hate that some tension leaves your shoulders after that. The rest of the time is spent with your eyes trained at the floor and ringing in your ears.
Melissa regrets her idea a lot more when she stops seeing your smile altogether and your eyes stop meeting hers.
She finally snaps.
Janine had planned to make a whole outing for the Abbott crew, inviting everyone out to a new arcade-bar that Erica had told her about. She’d told Melissa that she should invite Gary, saying that everyone wanted to meet him in a social setting and not just in the ten minutes he was in the school every Tuesday. Inviting Gary couldn’t hurt, she reasoned.
Gary’s phone went to voicemail for the fifth time and all eight of her texts were unanswered. He said he would come, that he wanted to meet everyone for real, but now he was a no show. Melissa felt like a teenager again, getting stood up by her date to homecoming while she waited outside for him. She turned to walk back in, almost running into you as you were coming to check on her.
“Everything alright?” You ask, knowing the answer already since she can’t hide her emotions well when she’s upset.
She huffs a laugh, “peachy. Jackass said he would be here almost an hour ago and won’t return my calls or anything.”
“Want me to beat him up for you?” You ask jokingly, but there’s a certain hope she’ll say yes that sits in your chest. Your heart almost can’t handle it when she smiles at your words, arm looping with yours as she drags you to the pinball machines.
You’d probably lost a student-loan payment in quarters by the time either of you had even won a single game you played. In the course of two hours, both of you had only managed to get a collective hundred tickets that could maybe win you each an eraser. Melissa pretends to not notice you cheating in the driving games, and you pretend not to notice her taking quarters from your cup.
You watch an equally competitive Ava and Melissa play a scary-good match of air hockey, each of them likely to have bruises on their knuckles by the end of the night from how hard they played. Each time she scored, the redhead’s eyes moved to you for approval, and each time she’s met with a little applause and smile from you.
“Wasn’t your man supposed to be here? Or were the Kit-Kats not behaving?” Ava says when they finally take a break from the game to take a drink.
Melissa just shrugs, “he hasn’t answered anything. If the gavone decides to say anything, then he’ll be getting an earful, or a bat to the head. Depends on what he says.”
“Do you even like this idiot?” Ava asks incredulously, saying exactly what you’d been thinking for weeks since they’d had their first date.
Melissa shrugs, “he’s alright. The first date was nice, but the rest have just been him trying to get in my pants.”
“Well,” Ava’s brows bounced a couple times, “are you gonna let him in or not?”
You check out entirely before listening to Melissa’s answer, not even caring how suddenly you left the conversation, just letting your legs carry you until you could finally breathe. You find yourself back with the old pinball machines that no one but you and Melissa had played. Only a few seconds of silence manages to pass before you hear the muffled stomp of boots on carpet, stopping right behind you.
“You gonna tell me what that was?” Melissa asks with your back facing her.
You should have known it was her that would follow you. Part of you wanted to lie and say that the drinks made you feel sick, but you both knew that they were too watered down to even intoxicate a toddler. The other part of you just wanted to scream about how it should be you on those dates with her, driving her home and walking her to the door. You turned to meet her eyes and any courage you had left, feeling like putty when she was so focused on you and you alone. Even though you know what her response will be, you just say, “it was nothing. I’ll be back inside in a minute.”
“It wasn’t nothing,” she says, stepping closer, “you’ve been doing that a lot lately. Just... I dunno, just leaving. You can be in the same room as me and it feels like you’re miles away.”
Your gaze drops to your feet, suddenly feeling insecure now that you know she’s noticed your behavior. You put all your energy into stabling your voice and keeping your lips from quivering at the thought of upsetting her. All you can muster in a tiny voice is, “I’m sorry.”
Melissa surprises you by pulling you into a tight hug, whispering to you, “is this about Gary?” Your heart stops at her words, knowing you’d been found out. The lack of answer and the way your body stiffens tells Melissa everything she needs to know, what she already knew.
Melissa knows that you’ll likely try to explain away anything the second she loosens her hold on you, that you’ll run and she’ll never get this close ever again. So she does the only thing that she can think of at this moment.
As she pulls away, Melissa’s hands cup your face, pulling you into her lips. Your eyes nearly bulge out of your head as you feel her lips press against yours, soft and eager. After a moment, she realizes you’re not kissing her back, her heart cracking as she pulls away from you, ready to run. Her hands drop from your face, eyes blinking rapidly as doubt clouds her mind. Your mind catches up, realizing what had just happened. Melissa begins to turn to leave, but is stopped by your hand in hers. You tug her back to you, cupping her face and leaning forward to finally kiss her back.
She tasted like lipstick and watery vodka, her hands were warm against your wrists where they held tightly. Your mind was in hyperdrive as you took in her lips and her touch, hardly noticing her moving you until your hips met the game behind you. Melissa’s lips parted, her tongue brushing across your bottom lip to ask for entry. You were quick to allow her in, letting her dominate your lips as her hands dropped to grab at your waist. The taste of her lips and tongue became quickly addictive, the feeling even more so. Your hands migrate from her face to her hair, pulling her even closer to you as the kiss turns sloppy from the sheer desperation radiating from both of you.
Melissa’s hands grab at your hips harder as you tug at copper strands, cold fingers creeping under your shirt to rest against warm skin. The force of her body leaning further into you boggles the machine you’re pressed against making a loud buzzer sound and the automated voice yell just a quarter to play! The sudden noises make you both jump, breaking the kiss. Your eyes meet and you both stifle a laugh at the whole thing. Her lips immediately gravitate back to yours, this time softer. The smile you feel against your lips brings your own out, breaking the kiss again. You drop your head against her shoulder, basking in her presence and her hands on your skin.
“You knew,” is all you say, voice muffled against her shirt.
She smiles and rests her head against yours, “I did.”
“How long?”
“The whole time, give or take,” she’s a little surprised when your head pops up, almost smacking her chin.
Your eyes stare straight into hers, “and you said nothing?”
“You didn’t say shit either, don’t even start,” she says with a laugh, no malice hiding in her voice. Her only response is a grumble that sounds something like touché.
There’s so much love behind your eyes, it chokes her up. The way your eyes never left hers, something she missed in the last month, made her feel like the most precious stone. She looks at you for a moment longer before quietly asking, “can I kiss you again?”
The smallest smile crosses your lips as you answer in an equally quiet tone, “you can kiss me whenever you want, Schemmenti.”
feedback appreciated as always <3

-"You are my miracle"-
Tumblr media
Pairing:Melissa Schemmenti x Reader
Gender:Soft, fluff, fluff, fluff, FLUFF
Warnings:I don't think so
Summary:The kids decide to put together a fake wedding for you and your girlfriend Melissa on Valentine's Day.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone, sorry for not writing something longer, but I thought the day deserved something sweet and cute.
Six months, six months it took Mel to get to know you completely and open up to you. It took her a year to finally accept that you were girlfriends. Six more months to move in together. And it took her just a minute at the right time to realize that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with you.
Melissa Schemmenti was a determined woman, she had tried a lot of things and she knew what she wanted and what she liked and what she didn't. Marriage was something she had tried before and she was pretty sure she didn't want to go through it again. That's why a couple of years ago she had broken up with Gary, she knew what she wanted to and he wasn't going to convince her of changing her mind.
A year after that, you arrived at school, a new transfer teacher, a new energy in the place, and a new love in the redhead's life. You came like a typhoon, dragging everything in your path, including her heart.
The redhead didn't expect to fall in love, she didn't want to, but it happened, it happened so fast that she didn't even notice it until you were already oficial girlfriends.
Mel felt something with you that she hadn't felt in a long time, comfort. Love is not about who turns your life upside down, love makes you feel comfortable, happy and at peace, and that's exactly how she felt with you. You never demanded more than she gave you, you respected the limits she had, you were sure and determined about what you wanted, you didn't let yourself be managed by others, you were perfect for her.
There were a lot of things that you and Mel had talked about from the beginning, not to marriage, but yes to children and moving in together, no to mommy king yes to costumes and role play, and a lot of stuff more. You wanted to get married but she didn't, so you adapted. She moved in with you even though she loved her home, compromising her part. Love was to give the best of both parts and that's what you did, neither of you gave 50-50, yours was to give one hundred percent each other.
This was the third Valentine's Day you spent together, you usually didn't do many things for that special day, you went home and did a movie marathon with your favorite snacks, but this day, something at school changed everything.
Mel taught a grade of third-graders, you taught second-graders, when kids are that young, their curiosity is through the roof, each thing they learned generated more questions and more curiosity, they wanted to know and experience everything that was possible as quickly as possible. They had recently found out what Valentine's Day meant, they had also found out that you and Mel were a couple, which made their imagination work and somehow convinced you and Mel to do a fake Valentine's Day wedding in the school gym.
The children planned everything and handed out invitations. Along with the art teachers, they had prepared dresses for you and decorated the gymnasium, with Gregory they grew flowers for the bouquet and with Barbara they chose songs to dance the waltz, they even chose bridesmaids and groomsmen.
You never thought you'd be nervous about a fake wedding, but this touched on something you'd kept deep inside. Seeing yourself in the mirror with that fake dress made of toilet paper and colored cutouts, made you think about what a real wedding with Mel would be like, you knew it was never going to happen and you would never insist on it, but it was nice to dream. Life with Melissa was perfect and you wouldn't risk it by insisting on something like that. Having her in your life was enough and nothing would get better than that, not even a piece of paper saying you were married. Right?
You sighed looking in the mirror while one of the teachers combed your hair
-"Everything fine?" - She asked and you nodded looking at the votes youe kids helped you write
-"Yes..."-You smiled and let her continue to comb your hair.
One of the little kids dressed very elegantly came to pick you up a few minutes later informing you that everything was ready at the gym. You carefully grabbed your bouquet and smiled at the sight of Gregory waiting for you outside in a smart suit made of cardstock.
When you got to the Gym Gates you sighed trying to ease your nerves, if this was just joking, why did you feel so nervous? None of this was real, once they finished all this theater, Melissa would still be your girlfriend and everything would be normal as before.
Gregory smiled and started walking down the aisle when the doors opened, the whole school was there, the children sitting neatly next to their teachers, the walls decorated in white, soft music in the background and at the end of the road, Melissa in a dress also made of paper, which made you laugh. Arriving at her side, Gregory handed her your hand and then took her corresponding place next to you, while next to Mel was Barbara. Mel stroked your hands gently and looked at your dress smiling as the officiant, Mr. Johnson, introduced the ceremony
-"You look beautiful... Is that designer's?" - she joked and you nodded laughing
-"Yes, The most experienced in the business, he has almost all his life of experience to show" - You joked laughing and Mel kissed your hand leaving a kiss marked with her red lipstick. Mel's hands were also sweating a little, was she nervous too?
After a while, they gave you time to read the vows you with the kids had prepared, after clearing your throat, you started reading the notes
-"Melissa... You make me happy like when I eat my favorite candy, you are beautiful like the cutest dog on the planet, I like how you smell like flowers, seeing you makes me as happy as when I found out that it was a snow day and I don't have to come to school and I can continue sleeping. Listening to you talk makes me want to dance with happiness like when I listen to baby shark...I wish I could spend my life with you almost as much as I wish I had the last dancing barbie doll. I will take care of you and I will always be ready to kiss your boboos when you fall playing in the park, I love you so much that I will lend you my favorite toys and give you part of my lunch. I promise to be well-behaved and not to fart in front of you and also chew with my mouth closed and brush my teeth before giving you a kiss on the cheek, I promise to do all that because I love you so much like I love my mom."-You finished reading the vows that the children gave you laughing, but when you looked up Melissa looked at you seriously which made you scared. Maybe this was too much, maybe Mel had regretted making this joke for the kids, maybe she was angry or uncomfortable. Before you could continue to overthink, the redhead put away the vows she had made with her students and sighed taking your hands and kneeling in front of you taking out the small paper ring she had in her pocket, you looked at her confused
-"(Y/N)... Will you be my wife" - Mel asked and you laughed watching her
-"Babe, that's why we are here at the altar... We are getting married..."-You whispered trying to goad her up but she didn't
-"I'm being serious... Would you marry me for real?" -she insisted again and you frowned
-"I don't understand" - You whispered and she smiled looking into your eyes
-"I said one time that would take a miracle to marry again... And you are my miracle... Seeing you like this makes me understand how lucky I am. You're the most gorgeous woman I know, you came into my life to improve it in every way, I know that I am not an easy person to get along with and you adapted to every part of my being, as if we were a complement to each other. The patience you have for me and the happiness you bring me is incomparable, I want to feel that every day for the rest of my days. I don't want to lose you just because I was afraid of getting hurt again or because I was a coward that didn't wanted to take the step and really commit to this relationship. I want you to be by my side like my wife for the rest of my days... What do you say? Would you marry me?"-she whispered smiling, the whole gym had fallen silent waiting for your answer, so quiet that you could hear your heavy breathing and your heartbeat. Mel was shocked when you knelt down in front of her to kiss her while you cried
-"I do! I wanna marry you" - You whispered over her lips making her smile and she carefully placed the paper ring on you
-"I'll get a better ring, I promise" - She whispered and you laughed kissing her again
-"This is perfect..."-You muttered, unable to help but grin from ear to ear
-"I think our vows were better than what she said..." - One of the kids commented out loud, making you laugh as the whole school applauded happy for you two .

Are you jealous?
Tumblr media
Melissa schemmenti x fem!reader
Summary: Reader is shy and feels like Melissa is far to out of their league, but with enough nagging from Ava, and the presence of Gary, they finally tell Melissa how they feel.
Warnings: fluff, minor angst, jealous reader, comfort, Gary (for the plot only), my failed attempt at humour, Ava and readers are besties, Most of this was wrote at 3am, first time posting my fics on here, I’m trying my best.
*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*
“I think you should tell her” Ava suggested, “why, so she can laugh in my face and ruin the perfectly good relationship we have? Yeah, No thanks.” You joked slumping further into your chair.
When you had joined Abbott you had instantly fell in love with the people there, janine, although she could sometimes be annoying at times, you know she means well by it all. Jacob was like a brother to you, he was nerdy and sometimes ruined a joke or two, but for the most part he was caring. Gregory took some time to open to you, but when he finally did, he was surprisingly funny and good to be around. Barbara was one of the kindest people you had met in your life, you saw how she mothers the younger teachers, Janine mostly, and it was sweet and admittedly wholesome to be around.
Melissa was at first cold and icy toward you, which you later learned that was normal for her, but eventually she warmed up to you. After some time she started to bring in cannolis from your favourite bakery, more recently though she started to even bring in home cooked lunches for you. She was sweet and you admired her, but eventually you realised after a while, that you had developed a crush on her. You knew she wouldn’t like you like that though, You were quiet and awkward, while she was strong and confident, not to mention gorgeous, and so you figured a woman like her, a woman who deserves the best, wouldn’t settle for a person like you. But that was fine, if friendship was all you could have, you were fine with that but, a date or two would be nice though.
Ava was your best friend at Abbott and the only person that knew about your little crush on the second grade teacher. When you first met Ava she thought you were like Jacob or janine, more on the awkward side, but when she ran into you one night clubbing, she found that you weren’t at all like you were at school.
That was why you were currently sat in Ava’s office sulking in the chair across from her desk. “But what if she feels the same though? I mean, your hot, so I don’t see why she wouldn’t” Ava said putting her feet onto her desk. “How could Melissa Schemmenti like me?” You questioned. “Oh come on? What are you gonna wait till someone else swipes her up? Girl c’mon live a little, you can’t avoid her forever” Ava asked, her face now serious. “Cause have you seen that vending machine guy? he’s been makin’ moves on your lady” she continued. “He has?” You turned to her with wide eyes, normally you would be in the break room at lunch but since your realisation you’ve been staying in your classroom as of late, not that you don’t want to be near Melissa, but you thought that if you distanced yourself, your feelings would eventually go away.
“But what if she doesn’t feel the same?” You questioned, concern filling your face. “But what if she does though?” Ava countered, The bell rang as she finished. Letting out a sigh you finally agreed with Ava, “alright, we’ll I’ve got to go get my kids from the gym” You pushed yourself up from your chair and walked out of your friends office.
*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*
The next period ran over quicker than you thought it would. You were dreading going to lunch. You knew Melissa would never like you and yet after talking to Ava you somehow gained this false hope that if you asked Melissa out before Gary did, then maybe, you had a chance.
Finally, after many minutes of persuasion you went into the break room, you only saw Barbara at first, but then you saw…him. You had forgot Gary stocked the vending machine today, you saw the questioning look sent your way from Barbara, you walked straight over to the counter and grabbed your cup out of the cupboard and started to make a coffee, as you waited for the drink to finish you began overthinking everything, you knew you should have never thought you had a chance, it was obvious that Gary liked Melissa and of course she would like him back, he was good looking and he was sweet and thoughtful. Barbara had said it herself a while back, even she saw that they would be perfect together, and how could Barbara Howard be wrong?
The beep of the machine in front of you rang through your ears as you broke out of your thoughts. Grabbing the cup you tried to get out of the room as fast as you could. Opening the door you almost bumped into someone, it was Melissa.
“hey hon, slow down, your gonna trip over someone-” The second grade teacher hushed, “hon, are you alright?” She continued. The care in her voice sent a pang of pain to your heart, you didn’t want to avoid her anymore, but you knew it was for the best. “Yeah Mel, I’m fine” you rushed past her, practically running to your classroom.
You slammed the door behind you and slumped down in your chair. You threw your head back and let out the breath you didn’t know you were holding. Not long after, you heard a knock on your door and you groaned at having to talk to someone when you were on the verge of tears.
“Go away Ava” you murmured, with your eyes closed. You heard the door open and you began to speak again “Ava I’m not in the mood-” when you opened your eyes you had realised your mistake. “Oh- Um, hey Mel, sorry I thought you were Ava coming to talk about one of the student’s dad or whatever” you half laughed trying to seem alright in front of the redhead. Mel perched herself on the side of your desk, crossing her arms. “care to tell me why you haven’t been coming to lunch?” She questioned with a raised brow. “I- I’m just catching up on marking”
You weren’t necessarily lying when you said that. Most off your time was actually spent grading papers, while the rest was spent either sleeping or wallowing in your own self pity. “For two weeks straight?” She frowned at your petty excuse. “Tell me what’s wrong Hon, please” she pleaded with you, but you couldn’t look at her, “why do you care, shouldn’t you be with Gary” the words left your tongue like venom, the very Mention of the man made your fist clench and your heart ache. “Why would I be with Gary?” She questioned, confused at the relevance he had in all of this. “I don’t know, maybe because you always are.” You mumbled, jealousy taking over your words. “Oh c’mon that’s not true and you know it” She reasoned. “Oh please, every time he’s here, you only talk to him.” You retorted.
Melissa grew silent after that, as she re shifted her focus to your face. You felt you face flush beat red under her unrelenting gaze. After a while, her furrowed brow raised as a smirk grew on her face. Melissa stood from her seated position on the side of your desk and sauntered her way toward you. As she stopped in front of you, she lent down and grabbed both of the arms on the chair. With her arms trapping you and her legs either sides of your now closed knees, you were practically unable to move.
“Are you jealous, hun?” She asked, the humour in her voice evident. “I-uh…No, why would I be?” You stuttered out, knowing you did not seem convincing at all, as you looked down and away from the woman. You felt one of her hands grasp your chin in her hand and forced you to look her in the eyes, “I want your eyes on me, sweetheart” she practically growled, “now, are you jealous of Gary?” She asked again, her voice significantly lower than before. You contemplated on lying to her again, but as you stared into her piecing eyes, you felt you brain go foggy from her close proximity.
“Well, I- uh…maybe, yes” you mumbled as you stared at her with an anxious look, “I- I like you Melissa, like really like you” Melissa’s eyes softened, as she smiled. “That’s good to know” she chuckled. Suddenly you felt Melissa’s lips meet yours, you froze at the sudden action but melted in to her soft touch shortly after. You whined as she pulled away with a smirk. “I like you too by the way” she laughed again at seeing the adoring look on your features. “Wait but I thought you liked Gary?” You questioned. “Oh please, sure he’s nice, but you? Your amazing hun, I’ve practically liked you ever since you got here” Melissa smiled sweetly at you. “I’ve like you since you got here too” you grinned back at her.
“I was thinking, how bout this weekend you could come over to mine and we can have dinner?” She asked, sounding very small as she spoke. You smiled at her hoping to comfort her, “I would love to Mel." She rose to a standing position, she kissed the top of your head as she did so. “I’ll see you later, hun” You watched as she left and you smiled to yourself at the feeling of lips that still lingered on both the top of your head and your own lips. You spun in your chair at the thought of dinner with Melissa.
Once you turned to the direction of the door, you saw Ava’s head appear from around the doorframe. As she walked in to the room you the look she was giving you, “tell me everything” she gasped with shared excitement.

You had started as a new teacher at Abbott over the summer. They had hired you right out of college with your teaching degree.
It was now a couple months later, January to specific, and with the cold weather came the cold and flu season. You had kids in your classes going in and out of the classroom from October till now, due to fevers, viruses, and just a myriad of sicknesses.
You and felt pretty welcomed by Abbott. You didn’t know anybody when you first started in the late summer, everyone new and stranger to you. Everyone was a little spacey at first, wary of the stranger, you the new teacher roaming the halls. Except Janine, she was kind and a sweetheart to everybody.
But with time, you found your place at Abbott. You started to get to know the staff and they started to slowly warm up to you. Now, you spent your lunch time with Barbara and Melissa, two other teachers. Barbara was a kindergarten teacher, and Melissa taught a mixed glass of second and third graders.
When you had first arrived at Abbott, you quickly found out that Barbara and Melissa were the more seasoned teachers. Your bond turned from stranger to friends with Melissa because you learned to take all your questions regarding teaching to her. After a month or two, Melissa invited you to join her and Barbara for lunch. You found that Barbara also often had wisdom to share from her decades of teaching, which you happily took.
But while Barbara was lovely, you always had a stronger and more potent connection with Melissa. You two just seemed to click. Not in the way Barbara and Melissa did, but in your own unique way.
If you would have thought your redhead teacher friend were gay, you would have made a move by now. But all you ever heard from Melissa regarding partners was about guys. Her ex, Gary, and a couple others not worth mentioning. But none of them had ever panned out for her. So a part of you secretly remained hopeful that she might one day see you in that way…
It was a Friday and the school was bustling with that chaotic energy that came around just before the weekend. You, Barbara, and Melissa had evening plans to go to dinner. The two women liked to treat themselves every once in a while, and this time they had invited you. You were very excited to say the least. You had chosen your favorite casual suit/blazer to wear. And you spent the entire day looking forward to the evening.
But as you met Melissa and Barbara in the lunch room as always, Barbara was leaning over the table a little and breathing oddly. Melissa looked at you when you entered the room and began to explain,
“Barb’s not feeling well, ‘hun… I’m trying to convince her to go home, but… she’s certainly stubborn…!” Melissa huffed.
You nodded in understanding and apologized to Barbara because you felt bad. You and Melissa then spent your lunch convincing the groaning older woman to go home and rest. You finally got her with her things out the door and into her car. Barbara left the school parking lot at 5 minutes till the next class.
Melissa huffed as she and you walked back into the school. You both had to grab your things from the break room before you could go your separate ways.
“I guess we’ll cancel dinner, hmm ‘hun…?” Melissa hummed.
“I’d still like to go” you said before you could catch the words coming out of your mouth.
Melissa had picked up her things while you said that, making her stop and look at you. For a second you panicked as her face read nothing. But then it lit up!
“Sounds good! Meet ya’ in the lot?” The woman chirped.
You immediately nodded, before Melissa nodded back and left the break room.
You spent your afternoon now even more excited for the dinner. Far more excited. You and Melissa having dinner. Not a date or anything but still…!!
After school, you and Melissa met in the parking lot. You made sure you each had the right address and then drove to the restaurant in your own cars.
You arrived and the place was buzzing. It was Friday night after all. Luckily, Barbara had made a reservation, which you could still use.
The waiter escorted the two of you to the table and you took a seat. You both began scanning the menu.
“So I talked a little to Barb while mu kids were in specials…” Melissa hummed over her menu,
“Oh…? How is she?” You responded.
“Sick.” Melissa chuckled, “And grateful that we made her go home”
You smiled to yourself and nodded. You then put your menu down, having decided. This was when you noticed that Melissa’s eyes had been lingering on you. You met her gaze and she quickly looked away.
“What is it?” You asked curiously.
She put her menu down.
“I… I like you.” She said.
The energy and tone of the conversation turned quite vulnerable as Melissa spoke those words.
“Oh, thank you…?”
“Of course, but no I mean I really enjoy being around you and I…” Melissa paused, contemplating her next words, “I find myself wanting to be near you when I’m not… and I don’t feel good when you’re not near…” The woman rambled.
You listened and nodded along until there was a pause. Your heart was now racing. And your eyes were wide.
“Melissa… Do you like women…?” You asked the nagging question.
This stumped the woman a bit.
“I… have never been with one… so I don’t know…” she breathed out in confession.
“Ahh I see… well there’s nothing wrong with that.” You comforted the woman.
Melissa sighed and nodded.
“It scares me a little if I’m being honest…” she practically whispered.
Your heart was leaping with joy, but you also felt for the woman.
“Can you tell me about how you know or what you like about me…? Maybe talking about it might help…” you offered.
While part of you was being a little selfish in this ask of Melissa, the other part of you truly cared and wanted what was best for the woman.
Melissa hummed lightly and nodded slowly. But before she could continue, the waiter came back. You two were interrupted in your moment, having to tell the server what you were ordering. Finally, the waiter left.
You looked back at Melissa expectantly. She met your gaze, understanding, and taking a deep breath, looking away as she spoke.
“I’m not sure exactly… I like the way you look… your more manly outfits and your short hair…”
She paused and looked to you. You nodded along, blushing lightly. You indicated for her to continue.
“I like that you’re respectful and loyal…I like your mixed masculine and feminine energy, they kind of cancel each other out in a way that isn’t overwhelming”
“androgynous?” You interrupted, suggesting a term for her to use.
Melissa smiled lightly and immediately nodded.
“Ya’ that’s the one…!” She exclaimed, and you nodded along, asking her to continue.
“I know I like you because I always get butterflies when you’re nearby, and I feel a sharp stab like pain in my stomache when you’re not…” she breathed out in confession.
Now you were wondering if the room was heating up… Your heart was beating impossibly fast and you were blushing even more now. You couldn’t control your reactions to the woman and her words.
But you had asked for it when you asked her that question…
Melissa was noticeably nervous as she continued to explain. You could see her winding herself up.
So you reached forward and placed your hand on hers, which was on the table.
“I like you too” you breathed out, your breath already short.
Melissas breath hitched and her eyes widened slightly. She now saw your dilated pupils. And then the woman licked her lips.
That action right there nearly made you kiss the woman right there. But you contained yourself, sitting back again and retracting your hand.
Your gazes interlocked, your energy’s syncing up.
“I’m glad we decided to still have dinner.” Melissa breathed out.
“Me too,” you said just as breathless as her.
And this was by no means going to be your last dinner date with the woman.

Before the wedding
Pt2 of why did you invite me?
Pairing:Melissa Schemmenti x reader
Warning: hints of infidelity, yelling, cussing, unedited, hurt comfort
Let me know if I left anything out
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Melissa sat with her boyfriend Joe across the room a beer in hand as her other rested on his arm while he laughed with his friends. My best friend Liam sat me on his lap to whisper in my ear “you like her don’t you?” I rolled my eyes “maybe” I grumbled.
“But she’s not gay” I turned to face him “did you ask her?” He spoke cockily “no” Liam raised an eyebrow “so how do you know?” He argued playfully as his arms tightened around me. “She has a boyfriend” I rested my head on his shoulder “that doesn’t mean anything, look at you boyfriends, girlfriends literally anything that moves at this point”.
“She’s older than me Liam and remember she has a boyfriend. Maybe she doesn’t want to explore” I hissed, we were in college she was in her last year while Liam and I were only in our first.
At some point we met in the bathroom she helped me fix my makeup after she smudged it somehow friends became more.
Present
I walked into the venue quietly as Anna held onto my dress I could spot Melissa’s family, Nonna hadn’t changed a bit. I smiled sadly everything else has changed though I thought to myself walking away only to bump into the bride to be herself.
“Y/n?” She asked almost confused but she couldn’t be could she? “M-melissa” I swallowed nervously she shouldn’t look this good. “Congratulations” I smiled.
She shook her head “you look beautiful” Anna tugged at my dress as she hid behind me “thank you” Melissa whispered. “Mama” came the little whine “Mama?” The redhead asked confused but her eyes lit up “congrats mama” she chuckled sadly.
I pulled Anna up and placed her on my hip her hair matching Melissa’s “you got married?” She asked “no but you’re about too” I nodded to the french doors. Melissa shook her head again “what are you doing here?” She asked softly “you invited me in the middle of the night” silence..
“Oh I did?” Her eyes glanced down before at Anna “I didn’t disrupt anything did I?” I sighed softly “Mel it’s just me and Anna just as it has been the last almost eight years”.
“Eight years? But that would make her seven?” I could see the puzzle in her mind “she is isn’t she?” I glance down ignoring Anna’s confused face. “Tell me Y/n! Is she mine?” Anna flinched in my arms tugging closer “mama?” She asked “yes Melissa” I sighed.
“You’re getting married”
And not to me
“So hurry go” I chuckled although I could feel my heart drop to my stomach and slowly lose its beat “no” that shocked me. “No? Melissa you have to” she laughed “I don’t have to do Jack, I have a daughter that I never knew about!” She yelled.
Liam came and grabbed Anna from me who was beginning to cry, I tried not to run after her as she sobs for me. “You chose this Melissa!” I stepped away “I tried telling you but you were done! Your shit was packed and in the hall don’t tell me that suddenly things are the same!”
“I tried Melissa, I really tried everything for you”
“Everything has changed and you’re getting married, don’t change your plans just for me or my daughter-” “our daughter” she cut me off. “But you’re still getting married, you probably have your own kids now!”
“I don’t” Melissa stated clearing her throat “I only wanted them if I had them with you” she admitted “Mel” I sighed softly. “Don’t do this please” I begged “don’t you think we’re too old to be doing this?” I asked her “we’re not in college anymore hun, things really matter now and who matters most to me is that little girl out there currently crying”.
Melissa nodded “yeah, you’re right but can’t I just make things right?” She tried

Today’s mental gymnastics is why does Melissa seem like such a cuddler that in every fic she’s written that way but she doesn’t have that vibe with Gary
If Barb had been waiting for her with flowers she’d have been straight to affection not standing with no contact while trying to read something
Tumblr media
I mean she’s shown more affection to Barbara just standing in scenes than to her boyfriend who’s surprising her on valentines day

hinge - a potential series
eventual melissa schemmenti x reader
synopsis: melissa joins hinge. who will she match with?
a/n: hello yes i know i’ve been gone for over a month after saying i was going to finish some things. my job got SUPER busy! but i’m trying to get back into writing and with that in mind i wanted to do a little writing exercise that i thought could be fun. so basically this will be a one shot series where melissa matches with different readers each installment. i was thinking if you all were interested i could open my requests for descriptions of readers you’d like to see melissa chat with and date! this is just an introductory piece to the vision, but let me know if you all would be interested in submitting readers for this. if not that’s cool as well ahaha! but either way, i hope you enjoy this chaotic prologue.
“You know, you should really get back out there Melissa.” Jacob’s voice floated over Melissa's shoulder. The older woman felt the tension between her eyebrows tighten as she slowly turned to address the young teacher. Not only had he been listening in on her conversation with Barb, but now he was giving advice. She knew they shouldn’t have let him stay for the Christmas dinner, now he thinks he’s a part of their circle.
"What are ya talking about?" Melissa glared. Jacob had the sense to look a bit squeamish under her gaze but still cleared his throat as if to speak.
"I just mean, it's been months since Gary stopped stocking the vending machine. And kind of disappeared off the face of the Earth. And you're a beautiful woman, who deserves to be treated well. I'm sure there's a sea of men just waiting to make you their wife." Jacob rambled as his face grew red.
"First of all kid, I had nothing to do with Gary's career change and if you tell anyone different we'll have a problem. Second of all, I know I'm hot. I'm a Philly 11. I don't need no man making me his wife. I'm perfectly fine with the way my life is right now. Not that it's any of your business." Melissa scoffed with an eyeroll.
"Well that doesn't mean you can't see what's out there." Janine piped up from her seat next to Jacob.
"Oh you're one to talk, what does that even mean?" Melissa asked.
"Well, I'm not looking for a relationship right now because I'm working on myself. But that doesn't mean I don't want to see who's out there. Or even get a little validation from knowing someone wants me."
Melissa listened curiously, "and how exactly do you do that? Are you going to bars and turning down drinks or something?"
"No! Dating apps. People see my profile and like me but I don't have to say anything back." Janine explained.
"Oh yes! Before I met Zack I had a profile on all of the apps, just to make sure I wasn't missing any of the validation." Jacob added in causing Janine to nod.
"I think that could be good for you." Barb hummed before taking another bite of her salad.
"Not you too!" Melissa groaned before Ava walked through the door swiping on her phone.
"What we talking about?" Ava grinned looking around the tables.
"We're trying to convince Melissa to get back out there. On a dating app."
"Oh you should definitely do that. There's a market of men you're missing out on. Get you a young thing to get all up in that Italian Dressing." Ava said wiggling her eyebrows before reaching to make her coffee.
"Okay. None of that." Melissa groaned as she and Barb shook their heads in disappointment.
"No, you don't have to start out doing that. You can just start out seeing who's out there. Getting some likes, giving some likes, and then if you want to you can move it to chatting. It's all at your own speed." Janine tried to explain.
Before Melissa could even try to continue disagreeing, Ava had finished dumping sugar in her mug and had snatched Melissa's phone from the table. "The question is, what app do we get her on. I think Tinder is out if she's not gonna let any all up in her business. Bumble is dead and boring. What else is there?"
"How about none?"
"Oh Hinge! That ones really good." Jacob volunteered and Ava nodded moving to download the app on the older woman's phone.
"You are insane! Give me back my phone." Melissa tried to lunge at the taller woman.
"Stop fighting girlfriend. Just let it happen." Barbara appeased placing her hand on Melissa's shoulder in an attempt to calm her.
"Oh not you too!" Melissa sighed.
"Give in Schemmenti. I'm already creating your account." Ava grinned flashing the phone toward the older woman.
Seeing the phone, Melissa just shook her head. "I hate all of yous."
Ava took a seat in the middle of the table and smirked over her shoulder at Melissa. "Alright so let's get these questions and pictures together. Gotta show every how hot you are!"
Melissa scoffed but only rolled her eyes in response.
"So I got all the basics, now who are you looking for? Just men? Or are you down for a lil lady action? You seem like you'd know your way around the lady parts." Ava asked.
Tumblr media
"Oh my god. You are the WORST!"
"That's not answering my question. You know what, I'll just put it as bisexual for now. Keep your options open. Let's find pictures for the prompts. You have any nudes in here I should be worried about seeing?" Ava asked shielding her eyes playfully.
"No? What kind of lady do you think I am?"
"I don't know. I'm just saying. Okay I already did the first one now the next one is 'As seen on my Mom's fridge', how about this cute picture of you and your blonde sister?"
Tumblr media
"Yes that would be cute!" Janine smiled.
"Oh put this picture I secretly took of her crocheting on there. People love crafts!" Jacob said air dropping the photo to Melissa's phone.
"Why are you secretly taking pictures of me?" Melissa glared.
Tumblr media
"Oh hush, it's helpful now. Oh a writing prompt, what are your simple pleasures?"
"Food, wine, and the Eagles." Melissa answered quickly.
"Let's say Cooking, wine, and the Eagles. People like cooking." Janine amended.
"Another picture, let's do this cute one with me in the back. That'll really get you some likes. I'm pretty well known around this app."
Tumblr media
"Last prompt, the key to your heart?" Janine asked.
"A clean kitchen and an empty stomach." Melissa spoke with a shrug.
"Oh cause you like to cook for people. You're so good at this. Yes." Janine swooned.
"And with that, you're live. Now you just wait for the local baddies to match with you."
As Ava handed the phone, Melissa had no choice but to scroll. Well I guess this is what we're doing now.
"If this ends poorly, all of yous better watch your back."

cheat
melissa schemmenti x reader
18+: smut; infidelity, fingering.
melissa is canonically a cheater, so this gal be cheatin | wc: 1.7k
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She’d invited you over for wine after a long day at work and maybe you should’ve said no, but the gorgeous eyes she always looks at you with are irresistible. She asked you as though she knew you couldn’t refuse and beckoned for you to follow her out of the doors of the school with a sway in her hips that made your cheeks warm.
The heat of your skin is not so different now, opposite the woman, mirroring her position on the sofa with an elbow leaning against the back of the seat; both of you holding half-empty wine glasses with an emptied bottle abandoned on the coffee table.
She’d made you both dinner, as lovely as it always is when she invites you over. Since she’s been with Gary the evenings spent together have become few and far between and you both resent it. She shouldn’t, she knows that, but the energy that passed between you wouldn’t just up and disappear because she was in a relationship.
At first, she thought being with him would quell the tension and the way her eyes would wander when you were in a room. She wanted to rid herself of the longing for a younger coworker. But, if anything, she only wanted you more. And Schemmentis get what they want, no matter the consequence.
You remember that day clearly when he asked her on a date and she accepted. You remember the clenching of your fists beneath the table and the staleness of the remainder of your lunch. You remember the beginning of the overwhelming jealousy you feel each week when you see them interact in the breakroom; him filling the vending machine while she throws flirtatious quips you’re sure were rightfully yours.
She took the glass from your hand to put it aside, watching the bobbing of your neck with your thick swallow when her fingers brushed yours and she shuffled in her seat to be even closer to you.
You could smell her perfume. You could see each line and contour of her face; you always force yourself to look away, fearing a descent into a hole you couldn’t drag your way out of. If you look for too long you’ll be trapped, reaching out to cup her cheek and before you know it you’re going past a line you just shouldn’t imagine.
But tonight, you let yourself take in the view, watching her eyes glance downwards when your tongue swiped across your lips. Her cheeks were flushed with red wine and her chest held a similar hue. You just wanted to know how her skin would taste.
When the backs of her fingers stroked your cheek you were brought back into the reality of the moment. She's not another imagining, she’s truly here looking at you as though you’re a precious treasure. Something she had to sink her teeth into.
She brought your face to hers with a hand on the back of your head and pressed merlot-stained lips together. You were lost in the moment, returning her kiss with fervour, letting her hands pull you in by your waist. With each feeling passing through you, the repercussions of taking this step were irrelevant; even when the thought dared to make an appearance as her tongue pushed against yours, you ushered it away. Though it may be wrong, you don’t care, morals aren’t welcome if they mean you wouldn’t have the opportunity to feel her legs situating themselves on either side of your lap.
She had to admit that she’d had the same musings but, as she’d said before, she’s a cheat. It doesn’t bother her as much as it possibly should. She knew she wanted you and a trivial relationship with a man she didn’t care for as much as she does you won’t stop her pursuit. You were the one on her mind when she lies awake at night; when her hand ventures beneath her underwear, whispers of your name into the emptiness of her bedroom. You’re the one she yearns for.
It wasn’t something either of you would find yourself regretting, the guilt would be pushed aside in favour of the desperate need to have your hands on one another just like tonight.
You pulled her close with cool hands inching beneath her shirt to feel the heated skin of her back, lips moving together while her arms flung over your shoulders. The weight of her body atop yours was a reassuring reminder of the reality of her presence, she was yours to touch, to kiss along the line of her jaw. You heard her sigh at the gentle scraping of your teeth to the skin above her quickened pulse.
When she pulled away for air her lips were swollen and plump, free of the lipstick they’d once donned. Her eyes had darkened, only seeming to dim even further as she took in the sight of you, gasping for breath, looking back at her as though you were ready to bend to her every whim.
She smirked at the glint in your eyes once she’d pulled her shirt over her head and tossed it aside, basking in the feeling of your gaze wandering over her bare torso; she nodded to your silent question and let you unclasp her bra and she pushed her chest into the touch you landed there. Pert nipples between your fingers and thumbs, soft and pillowy flesh being squeezed much to her pleasure.
“Don’t be shy now, hon,” she breathed, pulling at the hem of your own shirt. “Lemme see you.”
She was eager to rid you of your clothes and it only showed itself more with the way she was quick to press her lips to your collarbone, soon traveling down with less than soft bites and sucks to your flesh. She tugged a hardened nipple between her teeth, holding onto your waist tightly with a grasp that was sure to leave marks from her nails in its wake.
When she stood from where she’d positioned herself you panicked in fear she’d rethought her actions though were soon rewarded with a flirting smile whilst her hands undid the button to her jeans, ridding herself of the denim as she told you to do the same.
Soon, you were both left in your underwear and Melissa had pushed you onto your back with your naked body against the plush of her sofa and her equally bare self above you once more.
Her kiss was eager. The free hand that wasn’t supporting herself trailed its way over your side, red-painted nails scraping along your skin making you shiver at the teasingly soft contact. They nudged at the waistband of your underwear, making their wanting descent when you pushed her hand with a hold on her wrist. You felt her smile against you but neither of you bothered for words, lest you be without each other’s lips for even a mere second.
She groaned into your mouth when she slid her fingers through your folds, finding the way your pussy was soaked and waiting for her to fill it. Your hips lifted into hers from the fingertips that drew circles over your aching clit, the way you had to pull away to catch your breath from the feelings pulsing through you made the throb between her thighs grow tenfold. She pushed her digits into your wanting hole just to hear a repeat of the moan you let out at her actions.
“Fuck, you’re so wet, baby,” she murmured, completely enamoured at the way she’d got you dripping, basking in the feeling of your warmth around the length of her slender fingers, accepting her willingly, hiding your mouth in the crook of your arm to quell the moan she pulled from you. “Nuh uh, sweetheart, let me hear you.”
The vulnerable state of you beneath her only made the coil in your belly grow tighter; with her stare on you, focused and pleased at the sounds you made, you were enraptured by her.
Your hands occupied themselves with a hold on her hips, aiding the subtle rutting of her hips over your legs. You could feel the heat of her cunt on your skin. You could see the flushing of her increasingly more aroused skin.
“God, I need you to touch me,” she groaned. “Be a good girl for me, please.”
You couldn’t deny such an intriguing request, you’d want nothing more than to bury your fingers into her sex - so you did. You mirrored the way she thrust into your cunt, paying attention to her swollen bud with the pad of your thumb, enjoying the sloppy kisses she gave to your neck and the slight movements of her hips.
Everything was heated, skin growing sticky with the wanton lust, doing as much as you could to keep as close as possible. The otherwise silent room was occupied with the sounds you tugged from one another, moans and murmurs of each other’s names, lewd sounds of fingers disappearing into each other and heavy breaths falling against necks and shoulders.
She made sure to leave her mark behind with nips of her teeth. You made sure to restrain yourself, only allowing yourself to dig the tips of your fingers into the plumpess of her thigh.
“Fuck, I’m gonna cum,” you choked out.
“Mm, me too,” she uttered back. “You’re doin’ so good.”
It was almost in perfect syncrony when you came, you rode each other through your highs, ravenous to prolong the waves of pleasure that made your legs shake, to hear the other moan for as long as possible.
The rasp of her voice when utters of your name tumbled from her lips was nothing short of sublime - you’d be sure to commit it to memory, to let it harbour your thoughts.
“I can’t get enough of ya,” she murmured whilst she hooked her drenched fingers over your teeth, watching you suck them clean with that familiar glint in her eyes becoming clear to you now. You’d noticed it before but only now did you know it was lusting and sensual. The knowing of her observing you in such a way for so long made your head swim. “Come upstairs with me.”

no regrets — ❥ melissa schemmenti x f! reader
warnings: sexual content, cheating, mention of gary
-
"i could kiss you right now!" she breathed, walking towards you until your noses touched. "you're very welcome to do it." you said without taking your eyes off her lips.
you smirked, and her mouth brushed against yours.
wet lips.
soft tongue.
sitting on your lap with one leg on either side of you, she kissed you intensely. it wasn’t long before you were lying on her bed, her hair tangled in your fingers.
melissa took off your shirt, her cold hands on your abdomen and her lips on your neck, you whispered "what would gary say if he saw us like this?"
you could feel her smirk on your skin.
unbotonning your jeans, her fingers rubbed against the elastic of your panties, melissa lifted her head and whispered, "if we regret this tomorrow, we can blame it on the wine."

Random confessions
Pairings: Melissa Schemmenti x oc(they/them)
Warnings: kissing! Gary hate(I promise I support him🙏) cursing, I think that’s it?
A/n: this is like doing the fork in the garbage disposal
Tumblr media
“Janine, I think you shouldn’t beat around the bush. Yes, neither of you have it in you to confess, but if you let him go then you’ll be upset about it.” The two younger teachers walked in together. Alex advising the friend to not make their mistake.
They were the last two to get to the teacher’s lounge. “You speak like you know how it feels?”
Alex nodded, their curls bouncing in the action. “I am, I liked melissa since my first day, cause anyone in their right mind would, but she has Gary so I just admire from a far and I’m telling you Janine, being envious of someone is not fun.” They casually said. The whole room was quiet.
They kept moving through their routine. Pulling out their lunch, heating it up. “Seriously, don’t make my mistake. Plus, you two are head over heels for each other, it’s just a matter of the moment.” Alex shrugged. Taking their seat across from Melissa at the table. Looking up to meet the eyes of everyone else, they stared confused. “What? I thought it was extremely obvious I like her?”
“No! No it wasn’t!” Melissa was the first to shout. The red head didn’t waste another second before storming out the room.
Alex furrowed their brows, “that was a bit much. I mean seriously, it wasn’t a secret.” They were so calm about it and everyone was stunned.
Barb cleared her throat, “I think we’re all confused, especially because we all thought you would never say it out loud…in front of her.”
They let out a small laugh and went on with their day. Not really putting much attention to the whole lunch thing.
That was until Melissa stomped in at the end of the day. Slamming the door shut. “You got some nerve kid! You don’t get to make me think that you hate me for almost two years just to casually confess you have a little schoolgirl crush on me.”
“Did you really think I hated you?” Alex turned in their chair to face the red head. Smiling just ever so slightly at how the redness on the woman deepened. “I mean if you wanna know what me hating someone is I guess I’d say it’s more like I completely ignore their existence.”
“You have hardly ever said a word to me?” Melissa mentioned. “You said it yourself, I have Gary.”
Alex shrugged again. Turning back to the paper work and letting the conversation end. There wasn’t much to talk about. Melissa had Gary. Alex could only imagine.
“No! You don’t get to shrug and turn away! We’re not done talking,” Melissa grew annoyed. How could someone have the nerve to turn from her?
“There’s not much to say really. I like you but you’re in a relationship. I truly don’t mind it, if he makes you happy then he makes you happy. And I do talk to you, just in a group setting.” It was a plain and simple concept. “Honestly Melissa, I’m just a kid in your eyes, but I’m a kid who’s going to have a crush on you.”
“This is not something that you can be so casual about!” She cried out. “You don’t get to be so casual about this!”
Alex turned. Looking at the woman once more. “Melissa, I don’t know what you’re trying to get out of me here. Do you want me to be flipping out over it? I’ve learned it’s just one of those life events you either follow or let slip away.”
Melissa opened her mouth, but shut it. With a growl and a shake of her fist, she left the school for the day.
She was going to go home, but she needed to let this all out. It’s how she ended up at Barb’s house. A glass of wine in her hand while she paced.
“I mean, now what? I can’t just act like I don’t know because I do! The nerve of some people honestly! That’s the thing with new teachers! They don’t think about what they’re saying no matter who it hurts. They just say whatever. They knew I was with Gary, so why would they say it out loud like it was a simple sentence?!” Melissa thought out.
“Well you could try and forget it? Its not like you two ever really talk one on one?” The friend reminded. Never once really seeing the two interact alone.
Melissa sighed, “that’s the issue though! You know I have always had a thing for mysterious people. And they’re…well mysterious! Nobody knows anything about them except for their pronouns because Jacob…oh my god!” She realized her answer. “Jacob knows Alex.”
“Now Melissa, before you go harassing that poor child, think. You have Gary. Who is someone your age.” Barbara reminded. Yet she knew, her words weren’t going to get through. Once Melissa was set on something, she was going to go for it. “I guess I’m saying is, be careful about this. They’re a young adult and don’t know what they want. They’re an indecisive child compared to us.”
Melissa did take in those words. They were almost young enough to be her child. But the thought of being wanted by someone so young and yet such an old soul. That’s how they got to the lunch table after all.
Barbra had noticed how they would talk about things the two of them knew more than what their age group did talk about. It wasn’t about Taylor Swift and Harry Styles, it was always The Ronettes and Frank Sinatra. Humming songs that the two easily recognized.
The next morning rolled around. The teacher lounge only hosting Melissa for the moment. The soft humming soon disturbed her thoughts.
“Pretty woman,” was whispered. An accent playing on the words. Alex started dancing while getting their juice together. “And you look lovely as can be.” They never noticed Melissa, but once they did. The song suddenly became about her and they sang it like they didn’t care.
Spinning themselves out the room with ease. Leaving Melissa blushing and alone. She need to get it together and fast. This whole mixed feelings was suddenly becoming too much and it was only the first day of it.
“I don’t know why you actin’ all surprised,” Ava chirped as she waltzed in. “I’ve seen their taste in woman, and it is an elite flavor.”
“You knew?!” Melissa almost jumped to strangle. “How did you know?!”
“It was the first random confession they gave me. The second one was that one time they were out with friends and wanted to get over you on Valentine’s Day, so they went to a bar but a really ended up going home sober and crying because some lady who had dyed red hair reminded them too much of you and they realized that you were for real with Gary even tho they were so positive it wouldn’t work and they’d swoop in and get their chance.” Ava rambled. The story making Melissa wonder. Who actually knew and who played surprised?
“Do you know who else knew?” Melissa leaned forward. Hands folding on the table neatly.
Ava thought for a second. “I think it was me, Jacob, then Barbra? No it was definitely me, Barbra, Jacob, then Gregory. Janine was the last one to know. They told us that the day they said it out loud would never happen. That’s why we were all shocked.”
Melissa frowned, but once everyone else started walking in, the conversation was dropped.
Alex’s voice could be heard coming down the hall. “No but what I’m saying, is if you don’t try it then you’re never going to know if you like it. Its like when you took me with you and Gerald onto the cruise in hopes to help me get over Melissa because in your words ‘it’s better to try than to wallow in your self pity.’ So, I’m saying, you and Gerald should try a different cruise line. Just for one trip!”
The room once again looked at them. “Are you serious right now?” Melissa rubbed her temples.
Alex gave a classic shrug. “I seriously don’t know how you thought I was mysterious. I mean, I walk in here everyday giving some advice and relating it to some confession.”
Melissa shot a look to Barb. Her own friend talked about her issue to the issue? It was like a feeling of betrayal but at the same time she was kinda ok with it(this one time).
“Yeah, don’t you remember last week when I was having issues about getting a pet or not? Alex had a really odd confession. And thinking about it, a lot of them were somehow connected to you?” Jacob sipped his drink.
“Mine was about my dads business and Alex connected it back to you.” Gregory piped in.
Melissa looked around the room. Everyone talking lightly about some random confession. “Are you all telling me, you all knew? And yet never said a single thing?”
“I mean why would they? It’s my crush?” Alex laughed with their words. “I don’t know, don’t think about it too hard. It never leads to anything good. Like this one time I overthought just you looking at me and then I ended up at home crying because I couldn’t tell if you meant it with anything or if it was because I was staring at you with absolutely no thought in my head. Because usually that’s how it feels being near you. Like I just never think about what I say. Its kinda like now how im just rambling because I’m getting nervous just talking to you. So its actually my cue to leave this room before I keep going and embarrass myself!”
Alex quickly walked out the room. Hiding away in their room for the rest of the day not really believing the conversation that was had that morning. But even, when trying to avoid everyone at lunch, Melissa came in.
“Look, I don’t know what game you’re playing, but it ends now.” She spoke through gritted teeth as she locked the door and drew the blinds. “It’s not fair ya know!”
“I know its not.”
“So then why do you keep saying things that you don’t mean? Telling these stories to everyone if you know its not fair?” Melissa was leaning against the door.
“I dunno. I guess apart of me didn’t keep it a secret because I hoped you would find out. That once you knew, the unrealistic fantasies of you leaving Gary to be with me would come true.”
“Kid this is reality. Your fantasies are nothing more than that. You can’t just go lying just because.” Melissa frowned.
Alex finally turned to face her. “I’m not lying. I’ve liked you since the first day I started. Barbra told that you were going through stuff when I accidentally told her and she told me to not. I couldn’t help myself though.” There was sincerity in each word. Alex meant the words with everything they had.
Melissa stared. Her mind racing. What was she getting into? “Alex…”
“It’s whatever if you want it to be. I mean, you have someone. So we can just make it a joke if it makes you feel better? I’m ok with joking about it. I do it a lot whenever I have a random confession. Which really aren’t random. I just like talking about you to people. Even my mom knows about you. She asks me everyday on our phone call about you and I tell her about the entire day.” Alex rambled again. The nervousness really shinning through this time.
Melissa stepped off the door. Moving to sit on the edge of the desk. She let out a sigh. “Don’t you want someone your age? Someone who’s just as indecisive as you?”
Alex frowned. They knew that with confessing would come rejection, but they didn’t think it was gonna be this painful with all the preparation. “I’m not some indecisive child you paint me to be.” They whispered. Eyes glued to their computer screen now.
There was a silence. A loud….long……silence……..
“I don’t appreciate this Alex.”
“I know, and I’m sorry I’ve said it out loud.”
Melissa gave one last look before leaving the room. What was she to do now? Did she like Alex back? Was it a possibility? Absolutely. Who wouldn’t love the calmness of their personality. People specifically went to Alex with problems knowing they’d solve them without knowing.
Yet, a week without anyone’s problems being solved lead to chaos. Alex bad randomly disappeared for a week and nobody knew what to really do.
The Wednesday they came back, they were the first one at school. A box full of at least everyone’s favorite donut. All spread out accordingly.
“Where the hell were you for an emergency week call off?” Ava was the first one to arrive. Finding her donut front and center. “For me?! You shouldn’t have!”
“I had just a family thing. It was really last minute.” There was something off. Ava could see it. “I’ll be back, I left my phone in my classroom.”
They were gone and hidden before anyone could see them. But once they pranced back into the room everyone cheered. “I know! I know!”
“Where have you been?” Jacob was the first to raise the question. “Everyone was looking for you! Janine even sent the police to your house.”
Alex shrugged. “It was a family thing. They’re trying to do a bunch of stuff before my parents move to Australia. They waited till they made sure all their kids were set for adult life before going back home.”
Ava took the seat next to them. Turning them to face her. “You’re from Australia?!”
“Only until I was like 17? I try to hide my accent but it really shows when I’m alone. So I like to try to blend in. It also shows when I try to pronounce certain things.” They explained, biting into their donut. “But one day when we go out I’ll let it shine. Really draw in the woman.”
“Right go out so you can forget your crush on Melissa.” Ava laughed before leaving. Knowing she was right too.
Alex glanced at the woman. Already seeing her staring back. “She’s right ya know. That’s probably the only reason I go out at this point.” They beamed. Showing off that charming smile.
“For someone who was gone for a week, you sure came back with a sense of wanting to forget.” Melissa shot back. Catching Alex off guard for only a brief second.
“For someone who’s a Philly 11, you sure act like a Chicago 9.” Alex attempted to insult her, but it was damn impossible.
Melissa smirked, “for someone who’s a teacher, you sure could use a lesson in comebacks.” She had Alex pinned. Or so she thought.
“So then teach me Mel.” They stood. A shit eating grin plastered to their face while they left. Knowing Melissa was hot on their trail.
It was only a second after Alex got into their room, that the door slammed shut behind them.
“You can’t keep doing this kid! You need to learn to snap out of this crush!” Melissa was fuming. She couldn’t handle this game forever.
Alex gave her a look. A devilish smirk, and their confidence grew almost instantly. They slowly stalked closer to the 2nd grade teacher. Walking her right against the door.
Melissa began to feel small. Along withOther things. Things Gary hasn’t ever made her feel. Alex met her eyes. An innocence glossed over them. “So then teach me to snap out of it.”
The opening to kiss was right there, but Alex was respectful. They backed off, returning to the desk and working on a few papers for the day.
Melissa was frozen against the wood. Was she dreaming? She couldn’t be! She could feel the warmth of their breathe brush her cheeks. She blinked a few times. Realizing what she was in here for.
“That! You can’t….do that!” Melissa stuttered out. She let out a heavy sigh. “I can’t focus when you do things like that.”
Alex let a smile take over their face. “Well honey, if things between you and Gary don’t work, just know I’ll be waiting to treat you the right way.” They picked up their head. Flashing a soft smirk, watching intently as Melissa struggled to get out of the room. “You know where I’ll be!”
The day ended with Melissa dodging Alex entirely.
She honestly felt tied. Yes, she liked Gary. She also has had something for Alex. Yet, she still was with Gary. The choice was eating her alive. But she knew what her answer was. Her mind began to race at the sight of her issue. A intense migraine coming on.
“Alex, now really isn’t the time.” Her head fell into her hands. Blocking out all light from hitting her eyes.
Alex hummed. “Well, then I’ll be quick. This is my number. Whenever you need someone who isn’t Barb to talk to.” They delicately placed down the pink sticky note. “Have a good night, Melissa.” They spun on their heel, going home for the day.
Melissa sighed. Feeling completely helpless in the moment. Its honestly how she felt for the next few days.
With the jokes that were made and the constant staring, Melissa was trapped in her own discomfort and silence. The discomfort being more so because Alex was belittling their feelings just for her and being so respectful about Gary.
That was until Thursday.
“I mean, if you and Zach want to go out I can watch your niece for the night. You know she loves me more than both of you combined,” Alex offered to Jacob. “Seriously, I don’t have any plans or paper work.”
The two were having a peaceful conversation till Melissa walked in. And Alex was going to move over to her, but they decided to just keep in the conversation.
“You’d really do that so we could go celebrate?” Jacob was touched. The only other person that would’ve offered was Janine, and last time was a disaster. “Can you be there by 6?”
“I’ll do you one better, I’ll be there by 5.” Alex patted his hand. Getting ready to leave the teachers lounge for the rest of the hour.
Bumping into the man they envied the most. Backing up for a second to let him in, but was met with a push instead.
Alex stumbled back a bit. Lucky enough to catch their balance before anything. “The hell?” They furrowed their brows. Not really showing their anger and distaste for the man.
“You got some nerve kid! Thinking Melissa would ever leave over your silly confession!” His voice was loud. “She doesn’t want you! Get it through your head!”
Alex blinked. Trying to figure if this was really happening. It was. “No. You know who has nerve? You. For coming in here and disrespecting me when I have done absolutely nothing. I’ve openly flirted with her a total of three times. For two years she thought I hated her. So you should really watch yourself before things get ugly Gary. Because I’m not an ugly person. I think you should treat her with the most respect you could possibly think of in that tiny pea brain you have. Because one day Gary, you’re gonna fuck up. And she’ll realize she’s too good for you and gave you this ego. And to come in here and embarrass her because of your own insecurities! Real wise of you.” Their accent came through. The anger being so dominant, hiding it wasn’t worth it.
“And what? She’ll come to you? You’re basically a child. She’ll never come to you no matter how low life gets.” He folded his arms. Standing tall and proud of his words.
The curly haired teacher gave a dry laugh. “I may be a child, but I’m more of a man than you will ever be. And even if she comes to me at her lowest, I’ll sure as hell bring her to her highest. Show her everything that makes her so desirable. If that’s how I get my chance, then I will take it and charish her every single day of my damn life. So really, watch yourself.” Alex walked away.
The room was silent as they stared at the man. Nobody dared to move at this point.
Melissa slowly rose from her chair. “Gary.” Her voice was venomous. “We’re through.” She shouldered past him. Fury written all over her body.
A second went by. “Y’all heard that accent right? Shit was so sexy, you got your ass handed to you!” Ava cackled as she went to her office.
Meanwhile, Alex was hunched over their desk. Staring straight down with their own thoughts blocking out the world.
How could one man be so stupid but have the most amazing woman? It wasn’t fair. Alex would do anything to understand it.
“Alex…” Melissa’s voice was the only thing to pull them out of their thoughts.
With a sharp intake, Alex looked up. “I’m sorry for embarrassing you like that.” They were quick to say. “It was completely unprofessional and I should’ve just stayed in my place, but the way he talked….it just….I’m sorry.”
Melissa stood stunned. They were apologizing for something they didn’t do. “Alex, hun. You don’t have to be sorry. If anything…thank you.”
The curls shook. Blocking out the remains of tears. “I just…he was just the tiniest bit right. No matter what, you’ll never see me as more than a kid. And as much as I’ve tried to accept it, it still hurts to hear.” They confessed. Confiding in the woman for just this one moment. Almost like flipping a switch, they flashed a smile. “But don’t worry about me. I’ll get over it in a few hours.”
Melissa let a frown take over. “Stop doing that.”
“Doing what?”
“Belittling your feelings because you think you’re not good enough. As someone who isn’t…amazing with emotions, you’re still allowed to have them. And it doesn’t do you any good by making them so small just because you think it’s what we all want.” Melissa cautiously got closer.
They let their smile fall. “If I cant be with you, then you have to stop chasing after me just to give me a false hope. You’re not playing fair…just like me.”
She didn’t know what to say anymore. Instead she placed her hand atop of theirs. Gaining their eyes. “I know I’m not. But in all honesty it’s hard to not want to chase after you. For two years I tried to get to know you, and anytime you would run or give me some shit answer. I truly thought you hated me. But now? I just don’t know what to do.”
There was a glint of hope in Alex’s brown eyes. Could this be it? “Melissa?” The whispered. Noticing how she inches closer and closer. “But…Gary?”
“He’s not important anymore,” she hummed. She left enough space for them to back up. Not knowing if they were truly ready.
Yet, Alex was more than ready. In a quick manner they grabbed the back of her neck and crashed their lips together. Humming into the feeling and melting instantly.
They couldn’t fully process it even once they pulled back. Alex just kissed their crush. They felt high off the feeling. Trying to hold onto it forever.
Their fingers gently touched their lips. Grinning ear to ear.
Melissa raised an eyebrow at them. A smirk taking over her lips. “It was that good?” She teased.
“You wouldn’t believe me if I tried to describe how good.” Alex couldn’t stop smiling. Just enjoying the moment. “Can I…take you out? Like on a date? Friday night?”
“Where we going?” Melissa folded her arms. Suddenly putting Alex in the spotlight. “Somewhere fancy? Or somewhere cute?”
“Well I know how much you like to cook, and I don’t like going out out. So what about, we cook together? Then that’s our dinner? We could go buy everything together and then go back to either mine or yours, which ever you prefer, and just see where the night goes?”
She let out a soft hum. “I’ll see you Friday night then.” She didn’t say anything else, just casually walked away. Hearing a ‘hell yeah’ being shouted behind the door.
The next day went by slower than usual. Teasing Alex with every minute. Yet the moment the last kid was gone, so we’re they.
Racing home to get ready. Not even bothering to bring in their bags. They just found themselves in their closet.
Failing to even think of an outfit. That’s where Ava came in tho.
“I knew you’d be in here struggling!” She walked in. “Move let me see!”
“How….did you break in?” Alex looked at the woman. “Ok but besides that, do I wear something like sexy or cute?”
“You’re going to hers for making dinner, right? So wear something she’ll have a hard time keeping her hands off of. Cause I’m in beta that y’all definitely getting freaky.” Ava was shifting through their clothes. Gasping when she pulled out a black dress.
It had no back and slits up the sides. A lace trim around the top and a floral design down the front.
“Ava that’s basically lingerie.” They shook their head. “I’m not wearing….welll?”
“It’s not too less and you can through a cardigan over it. Then when you cook take it off and act like you’re not being scandalous. Plain and simple. Why do you have so much lingerie in here anyways?” Ava looked through the expensive sets.
Alex shrugged. “I like feeling fancy. Sometimes I put on a set and dance around the apartment. Sometimes I do it just cause I know I’ll look sexy.” They grabbed the dress and found the bathroom to change.
Coming back and looking better in it than Ava expected. “Now hold on. You can’t be going around lookin sexier than me.” She shook her head.
“I literally would get fired if I wore anything in that closet to school. My school clothes are in the dressers. I don’t even go in my closet for when we go out,” Alex mentioned. Looking at all angles in the mirror. “Are we sure this is the right approach? Cause I have these jeans!”
“No. You look hot, with some of those big socks you usually have and your white shoes? You’re bound to take those shoes off. And let your hair down. Then you’re basically ready. Melissa Schemmenti knows what she want so don’t keep her waiting.” Ava left quickly. Not really giving much more help to the friend.
But Ava knew what she was doing when it was with her friends and what not. She wouldn’t steer anyone wrong. So they had nothing to worry about, right?
That’s what Alex truly thought until getting to the address. The house was stunning just from the outside. Nothing compared to their tiny apartment. One that wouldn’t even hold a cat.
Alex took a few deep breaths while getting out the car. Grabbing their cardigan they left in there earlier and struggling to get it on.
Eventually they stood before the door. It was easy now to turn around and leave. Disappear from the state. Leave no trace of existence. Then the doorbell rang. Once. Then twice. Then on three, the door was opened and there she stood.
The two dressed completely different. It honestly embarrassed Alex for dressing up a bit. Especially when Melissa looked so good in the jeans and green top. The blue button up pulling out her eyes even more. Not as much as the red shirt and leather jacket she wore the other day. But maybe that’s because Alex could always focus on those eyes.
They flushed when they realized they were just standing there. “Right! Sorry! You look amazing! Like more than usual because you honestly always look amazing.”
She showed no reaction but a smirk. Seeing how her presence alone made Alex stutter. “Would you like to come in?” She stepped aside. Seeing the hesitation in the twenty something year old. Realizing she never really knew how old Alex was.
“Your home is really beautiful from the outside.” They complimented while keeping their eyes away from the pictures.
The red head, who looked too good in a ponytail, passes with a hum. “I already went to get things, which honestly wasn’t a lot. Mostly cause I had everything here. But the good places close early so I figured you wouldn’t mind?”
Alex shook their head, “I trust you know where the good ingredients lay. So what are we making?”
Melissa looked over her shoulder. A devious look in her eyes at the first answer she thought of. And Alex wasn’t oblivious to the look. “A small lasagna. Its a family recipe. You might want to loose the cardigan, it can get messy.”
With a nod, they removed the piece. Draping it on the back of the chair furthest from them. Spinning around and grinning at how Melissa was looking at them.
Her eyes taking in everything. From the smooth skin that was revealed and how chocolatey it was. She realized they were beyond what she imagined.
It almost made her sick how she began to feel so nervous. With the cardigan on, her mind didn’t wonder as much. Now she couldn’t keep her mind in one place.
“Mel?” Alex called to her. Letting the intense blush be ignored.
Melissa was still staring. Snapping out of it after a second had passed. “Right! Ok, so I prefer making my own noodles. Unless I’m in a rush, I suck it up, but we’re not so.”
The night went smoothly. The lasagna was made, but not with out subtle touches.
The one moment that lingered in Alex’s head was when they were mixing the cheese’s. Melissa had come up behind them, standing behind them. Her front just slightly pressed against their back.
“You’re mixing wrong,” she had pointed out. Her voice was low and close to their ear.
Slowly, her hands slid over. Leading Alex through the movement. It was a careful gesture. Truly anyone would’ve thought nothing more. But Melissa knew about the crush and how nervous she makes Alex already.
Now they sat on the couch with glasses of wine. From the second bottle that is.
Alex’s phone lit up with a text. It was Ava, but they mainly looked at the time. “I should get going,” they hummed.
Their dazed eyes taking in Melissa. Without noticing their hand reached out to touch her cheek. “You’re so pretty.” They lazily smiled. Feeling how warm the woman suddenly became.
“And you’re tipsy, dare say drunk.” Melissa returned, breaking from the contact. “You should stay the night, it’d be safer.”
Alex shook their head. “If I don’t get home my child will be worried. And I’m just tipsy. I’m not a lightweight like Janine. Who actually almost never drinks.”
“Your child? How old are you even?” Melissa laughed lightly at the claim.
“35, 36 in a few weeks.” Alex shrugged. Pulling on their cardigan. “And he is a very clingy child. Well for a cat, he’s clingy. Its what I get for babying him.”
Melissa stood in the kitchen. Hands on the island and a certain look. “There’s no way you’re 35.”
“1987. Im the oldest child, thats why I’m the only one with an accent besides my parents.” Alex shurgged. “What? You think I was like 23?”
“Yes!” Melissa threw her hands up. “How come you just started at Abbott?” Alex let another shrug go. “Can you stop shrugging?”
“Sorry, I started because I transferred from a different school. What? Is 35 too old for you, Ms. Schemmenti?” Alex teased. Stalking closer and closer.
“No! Its just nobody knew much about you. I mean last week you disappeared and then tell us you’re from Australia. And then soon after you let your accent shine when yelling at Gary.” Melissa flushed. Crimson invading her face.
They kept getting closer. Letting their cardigan slip off their shoulders and onto the floor. A new look in their eyes. One that was about to pull more from the red head.
“I mean, the only one who knew anything was Jacob. And then when you let your accent show, dare say it did things that I’ve never felt. You have a lot of tricks up your sleeves.” She just shook her head. Trying to get it together in her head.
There was silence. Alex was right next to her now. “Do I make you nervous, Schemmenti?” They smirked. Holding the upper hand here.
Melissa stared at them. Eyes fluttering just a bit. “No! Not at all!” She shot down. Being extremely unconvincing.
Alex hummed while backing away. Completely ignoring the cardigan. They collected their bag and got ready to leave.
Not noticing how Melissa got to the door before them. Alex looked up, jumping a bit at how she was there. So close. Flipping the tables.
Melissa was in front of them. The look in her eyes making Alex incredibly nervous. Especially when she kept walking closer, until Alex was against the door.
“You are nothing short of the greatest tease.” She whispered. Her voice dangerously low. “And I failed to tell you how sexy you looked tonight.”
“Melissa…” Alex mumbled. Eyes dropping to her lips.
There were no other words, just a steering kiss. One that made Alex melt in the others hands. It only increased the longer they were there.
Melissa made her way to Alex’s neck. Finding the pulse points in mere seconds. Sucking to with the purpose to show everyone. Earning a quiet, airy moan.
“Mel,” they were cut off by their own gasp. Hands grabbed at anything possible. The dress leaving nothing in between the skin to skin.
“Already begging for me?” Melissa smiled against their neck. But she pulled away. “Let’s not rush this though?” Alex frowned. “I promise, hun. But if we rush it, it might get ruined in between. Next weekend though. Its my turn to plan our date.”
“This is gonna be a weekly thing?” Alex lit up instantly. Melissa nodded getting another kiss in return. “I’ll see you Monday.”
“Bright and early,” Melissa smiled. Watching as they left her home giggling.
When she turned around, she saw the cardigan on the floor. Smirking at who it belonged to.
“Until next week,” she whispered to herself.
