hi tien !!!! i'm currently not in best health for today but i should be better tmr haha, hbu?

1- What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?

i usually write on tumblr drafts (yes i've lost drafts many times and no i have not learned my lesson) so i don't change the font here but when I'm on gdocs it's usually Lora bcs i like making things pretty. its not that big of a deal and a nice addition so i change it when convenient depending where i'm writing. i also don't change it on coda if i write on there it's a pain

12- If a genie offered you three writing wishes, what would they be? Btw if you wish for more wishes the genie turns all your current WIPs into Lorem Ipsum, I don’t make the rules.

my 3 writing wishes would probably to be to give me a space where i could write in absolute concentration which also stops time so when i come out, i have time to do other things. (and also preserves my energy, so i dont just immediately crash when i come out). my second wish would be to make tumblr be able to sort through drafts by tag. i have like 147 or so on my enst blog and it's terrible trying to find one specific thing. my third wish is to be able to get inspiration or the words i need by just asking for it, make my life easier pls :pray:

ok so this is from my enst blog cuz tbh i haven't written genshin in a month (post here if ur interested) For most, it would simply just be words, but to Tsukasa, it was music. It was a special kind of music, one which didn’t have a particular beat, nor a particular structure or sound. But what made it so catchy, so catchy that he’d listen to it every second, was the sense of belonging he felt as he listened to your words of “You’re doing wonderful, my dear”. It was a sense of validation that hooked him, more addictive than any melody he had ever heard. It was a song meant for him, in which he both treasured and longed for. It was music to his ears, and nobody else’s, and he’d prefer if it was kept that way. so like. story of this week i went island hopping in coron and there was No Wifi so i started writing for kasa bcs i do not like swimming in the ocean so i stayed on the boat with Nothing To Do. so i started writing in my notes app LOL. i started thinking about kasa himself- what's important to him? music was one of the first things that came to my mind; he's an idol. and the post was about his love languages and i got to the receiving part and this is for words of affirmation (he needs it Desperately) so it kind of just. yeah it happened i never proofread that much so it stayed the way i originally wrote it yeah

I looked back at the document for my first proper WIP Lorem a couple of days ago, and it did make me kinda nostalgic; I don’t know whether it’s fully formed enough to come back to and develop, but I do miss the characters and it would be nice to rescue it at some point. Here’s the prologue (like the rest, it’s rough but quite nicely written in places):

Faces and voices swam through her head, sights merging together into a whirlwind of reality that may as well be imagining. The face of her mother, Tanith Densanguin, drifted in front of her vision, gradually congealing into solidity.

She was dully aware that a living force griped her hand, but her mother's pull was stronger.

"Lily! You have to remember." The voice matched the movements of Tanith's mouth, but seemed eerily disembodied all the same. It was an urgent whisper, and it made her image flicker at every syllable.

"I don't want to remember!"

In life Lily's face was streaked with dreaming's tears. A sob from the world of the living reached her ears, and the terrible request. "Please Lily, don't be dead. For me."

Yet her mother's eyes drowned her in this dimension's reality. "For the sakes of everyone in your world, you have to." Tanith's image began to fade, and a wind started up, whipping Lily's dark hair around and freezing the tears to her face.

Ace's voice merged with her mother's, creating a shadowed melody. "Lily, please."

Sorrow flooded her, but images of everyone who'd fought with her ran through her head relentlessly. Ace's lingered in her thoughts a little longer than the rest.

"Lily, please!" His voice had become more desperate; the chorus wailed in an echo, the sound engulfing her soul.

A suffocating sob escaped her throat. The word that was to drown her in memory. "Okay."

Her mother's image vanished with a small smile. "Remember the magic, Lily." It was a release, yet now it was only her own will tying her to death. She couldn't return yet. Not until she'd remembered.

Remembered everything... starting with the beginning. Chapter 1.

A little bit about Kodi! (And some points that were going to be featured in the plot)

Under the cut cause uh, It ended up being more than just a little bit ^^; Whoops

So Kodi is actually Nova’s reverse! Danny had found him while out scavenging one day and decided to take him under his wing, much to Reverse!Lorem’s (RL. I never figured out a name for her xnx) annoyance.

It ended up working out in her favor, however, as Kodi had become a quickly skilled fighter! Danny refused to ever let him out on the front lines though, considering Kodi was still a child.

The duo ended up growing close over time, and Kodi eventually considered Danny as an older brother! However, when Danny swapped places with Felix and escaped, he was forced to leave Kodi behind.

Kodi grew resentment towards Danny because of it. He still cared about Danny but he hated him for leaving without him. Kodi quickly climbed up in the ranks, soon taking Danny’s former position as RL’s third in command (Second in command being Sylvia, Melody’s reverse)

When Alma was finally able to bring the trio over, Kodi had tracked down Danny and his group, demanding to fight Danny then and there. The duo agreed that if Danny won, Kodi wouldn’t sell them out to RL. But if Kodi won, he would take Danny straight to her.

The fight hadn’t lasted long, with Kodi quickly gaining the upper hand. But eventually, he stopped. He started to break down, conflicted about his emotions at the moment. He wanted to hate Danny for abandoning him, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it.

It wasn’t until Danny wrapped his arms around the other and apologized for leaving him that he finally broke. The two remained there for a moment until Kodi had calmed down. He decided that he wanted to stay with Danny and help them against RL, 

He’s still a little timid around the rest of the group, But he’ll warm up in time ^_^

Dummy text: Its function as a filler or as a tool for comparing the visual impression of different typefaces

Dummy text is text that is used in the publishing industry or by web designers to occupy the space which will later be filled with 'real' content. This is required when, for example, the final text is not yet available. Dummy text is also known as 'fill text'. It is said that song composers of the past used dummy texts as lyrics when writing melodies in order to have a 'ready-made' text to sing with the melody. Dummy texts have been in use by typesetters since the 16th century.

The usefulness of nonsensical content

Dummy text is also used to demonstrate the appearance of different typefaces and layouts, and in general the content of dummy text is nonsensical. Due to its widespread use as filler text for layouts, non-readability is of great importance: human perception is tuned to recognize certain patterns and repetitions in texts. If the distribution of letters and 'words' is random, the reader will not be distracted from making a neutral judgement on the visual impact and readability of the typefaces (typography), or the distribution of text on the page (layout or type area). For this reason, dummy text usually consists of a more or less random series of words or syllables. This prevents repetitive patterns from impairing the overall visual impression and facilitates the comparison of different typefaces. Furthermore, it is advantageous when the dummy text is relatively realistic so that the layout impression of the final publication is not compromised.

Incomprehensibility or readability? That is the question.

The most well-known dummy text is the 'Lorem Ipsum', which is said to have originated in the 16th century. Lorem Ipsum is composed in a pseudo-Latin language which more or less corresponds to 'proper' Latin. It contains a series of real Latin words. This ancient dummy text is also incomprehensible, but it imitates the rhythm of most European languages in Latin script. The advantage of its Latin origin and the relative meaninglessness of Lorum Ipsum is that the text does not attract attention to itself or distract the viewer's attention from the layout.

One disadvantage of Lorum Ipsum is that in Latin certain letters appear more frequently than others - which creates a distinct visual impression. Moreover, in Latin only words at the beginning of sentences are capitalized; this means that Lorem Ipsum cannot accurately represent, for example, German, in which all nouns are capitalized. Thus, Lorem Ipsum has only limited suitability as a visual filler for German texts. If the fill text is intended to illustrate the characteristics of different typefaces, it sometimes makes sense to select texts containing the various letters and symbols specific to the output language.

There is now an abundance of readable dummy texts. These are usually used when a text is required purely to fill a space. These alternatives to the classic Lorem Ipsum texts are often amusing and tell short, funny or nonsensical stories.

Origin and meaning of the Lorem Ipsum text

According to most sources, Lorum Ipsum can be traced back to a text composed by Cicero in 45 BC. Allegedly, a Latin scholar established the origin of the text by compiling all the instances of the unusual word 'consectetur' he could find and eventually recognized it as a passage from 'De finibus bonorum et malorum' (On the extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, a book that was very popular in the Middle Ages: "Neque porro quisquam est, qui dolorem ipsum, quia dolor sit, amet, consectetur, adipisci velit... " (Approximately: "Nor is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain..."). A typical Lorem Ipsum text goes like this: "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisici elit, sed eiusmod tempor incidunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim ...".

It seems that only fragments of the original text remain in the Lorem Ipsum texts used today. One may speculate that over the course of time certain letters were added or deleted at various positions within the text. This might also explain why one can now find slightly different versions. Due to the age of the Lorem Ipsum text there are no copyright issues to contend with.

In the 1960s, the text suddenly became known beyond the professional circle of typesetters and layout designers when it was used for Letraset sheets (adhesive letters on transparent film, popular until the 1980s) Versions of the text were subsequently included in DTP programmes such as PageMaker etc.

Automatic recognition of Lorem Ipsum during the pre-press workflow

The spread of computers and layout programmes thus made dummy text better known. While in earlier times several lines of the Lorem Ipsum text were repeated in the creation of dummy texts, today the full text of Cicero's 'De finibus' serves as the basis for many dummy text or Lorem Ipsum generators. Based on 'De finibus', these generators automatically create longer sections of the Lorem Ipsum text or various other filler texts.

The phrasal sequence of the Lorem Ipsum text is now so widespread and commonplace that many DTP programmes can generate dummy text using the starting sequence "Lorem ipsum". Fortunately, the phrase 'Lorem Ipsum' is now recognized by electronic pre-press systems and, when found, an alarm can be raised. This avoids a publication going to print with overlooked dummy text.

Certain internet providers exploit the fact that fill text cannot be recognized by automatic search engines - meaningful information cannot be distinguished from meaningless: Target-generated dummy text mixed with a certain combination of search terms can lead to an increased frequency of visits by search machine users. As a consequence, advertising revenues, which rely on website 'hits', are increased.

There were times when it seemed like Mac Miller would never stop rapping. At his peak, he was an indefatigable creative force who wrote and recorded hundreds of verses stuffed with cocksure bravado, unending internal rhyme schemes and sly double entendres. These verses were volleyed off onto grandiose Billboard-topping studio albums, knotty mixtapes scavenged by backpack rap nerds, or the projects of his countless collaborators at a breathtaking rate.

Miller, born Malcolm James McCormick in 1992, rapped with a restless determination: to outrun his initial reputation as a white frat rapper; to distract from his anxieties and addictions; to amuse himself and his friends; and to gain the respect of his idols, which he did: as Jay-Z admitted on Twitter, “Black people really magic. Mac Miller nice too though.”

But there’s not much rapping at all on Circles, his sixth (and presumably last) studio album released posthumously on Friday. Miller was well into the recording process of Circles when he died in September 2018 of an accidental overdose. Because he envisioned Circles as a companion to his previous album Swimming, released in August 2018, his family was left with an agonizing decision about whether to finish and release it: “This is a complicated process that has no right answer. No clear path,” they wrote in a statement on his Instagram page when they announced the forthcoming album. “We simply know that it was important to Malcolm for the world to hear it.” The album was ultimately completed by the veteran producer Jon Brion, who worked with Miller extensively before his death.

On Swimming and his previous album The Divine Feminine, Miller was already shifting his focus from dogged lyricism to shrewd songcraft, building out deep funk grooves and lush orchestral arrangements to reach a new creative pinnacle. Circles is the endpoint of this verbal retreat: Miller pared down his syllables to mostly embrace a soulful brand of folk rock, relying on his unadorned, plaintive singing like never before.

But Circles is also an anguished portrait of a man close to burnout, striving to escape the ruthless pace with which he previously carried himself. “Maybe I’ll lay down for a little / Instead of always trying to figure everything out,” he sang on the single “Good News,” released last week. Circles is not the culmination of an epic life’s work, but a heartbreaking plea for peace from a man who had spent a relentless decade in the spotlight.

While many of Miller’s final public performances—like on NPR’s Tiny Desk or The Late Show With Stephen Colbert—were driven by uptempo funk, Circles most resembles the back half of Swimming, which sinks into piano balladry and quiet expressions of regret. Miller was long a John Lennon superfan, and certain songs on Circles recall the rawest piano-heavy arrangements of Lennon’s work with the Plastic Ono Band—as well as the unvarnished arrangements and melodies of a different Brion collaborator, Rufus Wainwright. Miller also delivers a committed cover of the rock band Love’s “Everybody’s Gotta Live,” lending the existential 1972 anthem a bounce without sacrificing any of its mournfulness.

It may seem initially strange for one of the world’s most talented rappers to take his cues from rock, but Miller’s inclinations fit into a larger trend over the last few years in the hip-hop world of imbuing rap cadences with melody. The current Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper, Roddy Ricch’s “The Box,” is sung all the way through; many other artists, from Tyler the Creator to Dominic Fike to Brockhampton to Rex Orange County, have found the sweet spot between indie rock, hip-hop and soul. Streaming audiences have followed these artists to the spaces between musical walls: the genreless playlists Pollen and Lorem are two of the most popular discovery hubs on Spotify.

Miller used to hide his wavering voice under a phalanx of filters, pitching effects and doubled vocal tracks to the point that he was sometimes unrecognizable. But on Circles, he puts his unadorned singing voice front and center, lending the album a casual and startling intimacy. On “Hand Me Downs,” one of the album’s strongest songs, he effortlessly slides up to high notes with a husky sweetness before dropping back down to tiptoe over syllables with his trademark playful drawl.

Miller is no Aretha Franklin. But he employs his vocal chops with confidence and charm, and his comparative lack of vocal strength actually lends poignancy to an album haunted by anxiety and drift. He was admittedly taking opioids in the months leading up to his death, and Circles certainly feels like an album made on downers: his lyrics lack clarity or specific targets, and at times he seems to be singing at a remove from himself. “Ever since I can remember I been keeping it together / But I’m feeling strange,” he murmurs on “Hand Me Downs.” On “Hands,” he reprimands himself, as if to shake himself from a stupor: ”Why don’t you wake up from your bad dreams / When’s the last time you took a little time for yourself?”

Regret is a huge theme on Circles, with Miller constantly alluding to past mistakes; his lyrics and turn to aesthetic sparseness can be read as an attempt to distance himself from a previous frenzied or craven mentality. On the defiant and brash 2012 single “Loud,” Miller had announced “People lie, numbers don’t,” and cited sold-out shows and Billboard numbers. In direct contrast, Miller sleepily croons on “Surf,” “People, they lie / But hey, so do I” before delivering a new Zen-like mantra: “There’s water in the flowers / Let’s grow.”

If Miller’s new subdued attitude was healthier for him, it also put something of a wet blanket over his creativity. Miller often talked about wanting to have good days and bad days—to embrace the full and agonizing spectrum of human emotion. But Circles exists somewhere in the hazy middle, capturing neither the harrowing lows of Swimming nor the euphoric braggadocio of GO:OD AM.

And aspects of the album leave behind the nagging suspicion that Miller, if he had lived, might have completed it differently: he might have re-written generic placeholder lyrics (“I don’t know where I been lately but I’ve been alright”) and brought more life to instrumental parts that often sound like demos. Circles is perhaps too small in scale to be Miller’s final masterpiece; it doesn’t exhibit the mammoth musical growth that listeners had come to expect from him from album to album.

But it’s still compelling in its own drowsy way. Miller’s ability to locate and lock into unique, catchy flows and melodies is still extremely evident—particularly on the invigorating “Hands.” Brion deserves some credit for constructing blue-grey textures to match Miller’s somber mood. And his growth here is of a different type—toward a patient spirituality, toward being okay with stasis for the purpose of self-care. “Some people say they want to live forever,” he muses on “Complicated,” before adding, “That’s way too long, I’ll just get through the day.”

La tercera edició de Lorem Ipsum continua furgant en les esquerdes i els replecs de la música i l’univers lúdic, intencionalment articulats des de la geo- i la biopolítica dels cossos i els gestos. Des d’on parlem? Qui parla? Potser ens allunyarem de l’amable estranyesa amb què operàvem en les convocatòries anteriors i aquesta vegada l’articularem políticament: escoltarem noves veus femenines, abraçarem l’alteritat, (con)fondrem sensibilitats, temporalitats i geografies... Des de propostes que són (gairebé o del tot) ballables. 

Obre aquest cicle Céline Gillain, que ha publicat fa poc el seu primer LP, Bad Woman. Amb un sentit de l’humor tan negre que arriba a fer mal, Céline furga en els estereotips i la imatge social de la mala dona per encarnar la lletjor, i ho fa amb una mena de pop hiperfragmentat i desbaratat que convida al ball (i l’encomana). En la segona sessió, Ata Ebtekar, aka Sote, compon música amb la profunda convicció que cal deconstruir i replantejar les regles i les fórmules, com comenta ell mateix: «Si vens algun cop a l’Iran, al principi pensaràs: “Déu meu, el trànsit de Teheran és terrible! Quin caos!” Però dins d’aquell caos hi ha unes regles que entén tothom, amb què tothom improvisa, perquè ho han de fer.» Després de publicar més de cinc àlbums i nombrosos EPs i singles en què sempre sembla que el seu so es reinventi, Ebtekar és una figura clau en l’escena electrònica de l’Orient Mitjà actual. La seva paleta de sons és molt rica, ja que beu tant de llenguatges experimentals i abstractes com de la composició digital hipermoderna, alhora que fuig de l’exotització. Entrem a les festes del Raval al ritme de Confusia, l’àlbum de debut de la productora i DJ sueca KABLAM. Un disc acabat de sortir del forn, en què conflueixen una multitud de gèneres, melodies atonals i textures que grinyolen per traslladar-nos per una porta lateral a l’estridència de la pista de ball. A continuació arriba la productora i percussionista argentina Tatiana Heuman, que corromp i manipula els límits de la cultura pop sense fer cap concessió. Tatiana crea danses fracturades i impredictibles entre capes de ritmes convulsius, veus esquinçades i paisatges sonors exuberants. I posen la cirereta final Bamba Pana & Makaveli, que tanquen aquesta tercera edició de Lorem Impsum a 180 bpm i a ritme de singeli, un estil musical originari de Tanzània, que n’inunda els barris més pobres i que va rebre el nom del mateix Sisso Studio, des d’on operen Bamba Pana & Makaveli i altres constel·lacions de productors. Bamba Pana produeix els ritmes trencacolls i Makaveli rapeja els seus mantres desbocats, i entre els dos fan reviure l’energia del gabber, el happy hardcore i el house sud-africà i ens desafien a ballar. RAMZ - BARKING [4.67] +1 knowledge of London geography

Iain Mew: Barking: the destination for District line trains that aren't going all the way into East London suburbia. The kind of place that produces John Terry and needs a memorable election defeat for the far right. Or just a name that rhymes with some verbs and "morning" over the lightest of sing song bliss. That works. [7]

Scott Mildenhall: On one level, the extremely mainstream success of a song like this for an initially unsigned act like Ramz looks like a win for the democratising effect of the internet. On another level, its focus on Barking makes it a symbol and reinforcer of the extents of London's inordinate cultural and economic power over the rest of Britain. It's a mixed bag! Ramz isn't to blame for that, of course, and he has a catchy hook among the lorem ipsum, but if he'd written this about Ladywood, it probably wouldn't be being reviewed here. [5]

Ramzi Awn: Like a subpar Ciara track, the hook doesn't warrant the repetition, and Nikes have been trollin' for a while now. Adidas where it's at. [4]

Ryo Miyauchi: Good hook, but there's not much attached to it. The references here are tedious things that buy time rather than actually tell why Ramz is so envied. Except maybe the mention of his Colgate teeth, where he slyly slides in Auto-Tune for the stretching of the syllable like he's genuinely proud of his pearly whites. [5]

Alfred Soto: Simulating exhaustion exposes the artist to sounding exhausted. The chiming Afro-trap melody and beat don't mitigate the lethargic rhymes. [3]

Maxwell Cavaseno: The Afro-trap sound's been milked to the point of absolute saturation, so I can't blame Ramz for being a bit worn out. Yet at the same time, he's approaching K.I.G. "Head, Shoulders" level nursery rhyme bars here, and the production is ready to put me down in the crib. [4]
