wip ask: bower bird!!

Hey, Mid! :D Thank you for asking!

Bower bird home decor AU, or more precisely Alphas Act Like Bower Birds Home Decor AU, is my non-traditional A/B/O fic with alpha!Cody and beta!Obi-Wan. Instead of the usual "Omegas nest etc. etc." I went with "Alphas court by trying to build a living space for their potential mate and make it look really nicely decorated", so we have Cody picking flowers for Obi-Wan or gifting him pretty rocks to put in his quarters etc. since it's not like Cody can build a space for him anywhere.

One flower would hardly be enough, Cody thought absently the next time they were planetside, taking note of the plants growing around the camp as he did his rounds. He would simply have to pick more. They were smaller than the last flower he had picked for the general—wilted by now, even with Obi-Wan using the Force coaxing it to keep longer.

He considered the pale blue flowers growing in small patches, frowning. He would need something other than an empty canteen to put them in; their stems were so short, barely longer than the width of his palm. 

Cody’s fingers twitched. He would have something figured out by the time it was time to break camp and head back to the Negotiator.

melayneseahawk linked to Worlds Elsewhere Theatre Company, a socially distant and socially responsible digital theater which is going into its fourth season; their 2024 fundraiser is about to begin, and in the meantime they have several ways to support the theater one-off or on an ongoing basis. Last Song: Last thing I searched on Spotify was Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye, because I randomly got suggested some YouTube shorts featuring it and it reburrowed into my brain just like it did in 2011

Currently Watching: On TV I'm watching Legion which is a Marvel show from a few years ago that's in the X-Men universe. It's very trippy but I'm really enjoying it, plus Dan Stevens is cute. On YouTube I've been very into a series of videos about restoring an old homestead in the Italian Alps by a man named Martijn Doolard. It's extremely chilled, beautifully shot and very satisfying to watch his progress

Currently Reading: regrettably I am not in a book phase so all I read at the moment is too many BORU/AITA posts on Reddit when I should actually be doing something productive

Current Obsession: Now we're in the back half of the year I am on the precipice of becoming obsessed with this year's pantomime at work (Peter Pan) that I'm designing and painting set for. It feels good to be back in the workshop and working with my hands and getting paint everywhere again

Peter Cushing hammer horror films (this is because I'm listening to a lot of I Monster and they're so deeply inspired by all of that that it makes me want to watch). Also two different overwatch unranked to gm vids.

1. Sha po lang by priest. Excellent book.

2. Murderbot diaries by Martha wells. I just started this, but I'm enjoying it so far.

3. Tai sui by priest. I also just started this, but it's priest and translated by e danglars, so I expect an excellent time.

4. Uzumaki by junji ito. Timelessly amazing.

5. The dreams in the witch house by h.p. Lovecraft. This is so exceedingly written by lovecraft. I don't think I'm enjoying it very much, except for the way the main antagonist makes me want to kiss her

6. The haunting of hill house by Shirley Jackson. I've only really gotten a few chapters in, but I really really love it. The characters are so vivid. The sense of place even more so

7. Various short horror stories, mostly in podcast form

8. Various fic, most of it naruto. A bit of bloodborne too, there's an author that does exceptional non binary good hunter pwp

Current obsession:

Crusty old horror. Naruto, specifically Hashirama, Ino, Sasori, and Kakashi. Nathan the cat. Playing bass. Audio engineering. Being pretentious on purpose.
