imagine my reaction when my one of my favorite authors (you btw because of the masterpiece that’s crane) turns out to be an unolvrs and penrose-quinn enjoyer. do amazing writers just gather around and have tea????? what’s your favorite work of theirs? IDK HOW ASKING WORKS but the three of you guys have prose that just sENDS ME TO HELL istg how do you even—
DJSJISGJDHS ANON I AM TRULY NOT EVEN WORTHY TO BE ON THE SAME PLANE AS @unolvrs AND @penrose-quinn!!!!
PLEASE ALLOW ME TO CORRECT YOU: THEY are sipping tea together in a pavilion exclusive to god-tier writers. I’M just the SCHLUMP who’s hiding in a bush with binoculars and crying from just breathing the same air as them.
(AND HONESTLY, WHO ISN’T AN UNOLVR AND PENROSE-QUINN ENJOYER??)
YOU’RE TORTURING ME WITH THAT QUESTION!! Literally every single fic they wrote is in its own league!!! Even if I’m not in the fandom or don’t know the character/character the fic is based in, I just read them for inspiration 😭 however, if only one fic can be chosen it’ll be dawn flowers for unolvrs and Green Light for penrose-quinn! I’m sorry for being so repetitive but I legit think about these stories all the time!! And it’s a nice balance cuz I can wreck myself with angst from the former, then find comfort and warmth in the latter. :’)
Both authors are just MASTERS at poetic writing and are just so talented in painting vivid pictures from words. I’m not that good of a writer cuz I can’t express how FINE their prose and choice of words are!! Pen’s writing is so assuring, like the steady flow of a river and also SO EFFICIENT with her words. Uno’s writing ‘forces’ you to face and feel your emotions and thoughts, like mist or haze that surrounds you. I’m sorry for being so dramatic and abstract, maybe even pretentious, but I swear this is what comes to mind when I have to summarise how I feel about their writing!!!!

Narratives and new myths that focused on Shinra Myōjin’s role as the Jimon’s waka patron deity soon emerged, including several stories that tell of the deity appearing to poet monks so that he might provide them with his divine guidance. (...) This resulted in Shinra Myōjin receiving the by-name “Poetic Immortal of Miidera” (Mii no kasen 三井の歌仙).

山法師[Yamabōshi] Cornus kousa subsp. kousa
山[Yama] : Mountain
法師[-bōshi|Hōshi] : Buddhist priest
It is said to be so named that the appearance of the flower resembles the head of a Hōshi wearing a white hood. This botanical name "kousa" came from the fact that this plant was called くさ[Kusa] in a dialect of Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. https://honolulumuseum.org/collections/72654/
Reading 山法師 as Yamahōshi meant lower-priests of Enryaku-ji. And 寺法師[Terahōshi] meant them of Miidera(Onjō-ji.) 寺[Tera] means temple. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Hiei https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mii-dera

I've commissioned fanfics and writings from other authors and I don't want to be mean to them or to compare because they were all amazing, but your commissioned works always feel worth it? I don't know how to say it but all your pieces feel so carefully written and planned, well-researched, and full of effort. The amount of research you put in them surprises me every time, especially "begonia, begonia" and "the bell of midera". I love you that's all. I didn't know that asks have word limits oml-
THANK YOU SO MUCH??? this is one of the nicest things someone's told me ever. i'm just so sorry for taking so long because life gets in the way most of the time. i just feel guilty if i'm just writing what people asked for. i'd end up feeling really, really guilty, so i just try my best.
miidera lowkey stressed me out because i had no idea what to write but begonia was a whole new experience. i've always liked kabuto as a character so when he showed up in the request, i wanted to be as best as possible. and i think it's fun to challenge myself when people request for very specific things that would be hard to incorporate to the plot... like the spiders. the spider summons were a specific request and even though i immediately said yes, i still had to do some research and was worried about how i'm going to sneak that bit in. (like how spiders help in healing which will come up in chapter 3 because chapter 2 was wayyy too long. i had to read a thesis or two for some reason.) but it went surprisingly well because kidomaru already exists as a character.
BUT THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO TELL ME THIS <333 i always get worried if i'm doing good with the commissions...

Day 12 Omi Shrine
The day started early, because we had to leave the apartment at 10:00. In the end, we probably left just after nine, making our way to Kyoto to drop our luggage, before heading over to Otsu (Lake Biwa).
Last Monday, we found loads of coin lockers available at Kyoto station, so what could go wrong?... holy cow, how can all those coin lockers be filled this early in the morning! We walked all around the station, but could not find a single available locker to store our suitcases.
In the end, we decided to just drag our suitcases to Otsu station and pray to find an empty locker there. Then, as our train slid out of Kyoto station, we noticed an abundance of empty coin lockers on platform zero! Crap!!
To our dismay, Otsu had no coin lockers available. The very few it had were already taken, so... We boarded a train back to Kyoto station. (Haha... Eh...) There we dropped our luggage in one of the empty lockers on platform zero and went on our way again. I suppose the ones on the platform are so empty, since they really are only useful to those who will leave via Kyoto station again on the same day (and before 20:00).
All in all we lost quite a bit of time with this little dance. So, adjustments to the plans had been made. My leisure walk by the lakeside was cut, Miidera crossed of the list and eventually I redirected our route to Otsukyo station, from where we walked toward Omi Shrine.

It was quite pretty, but overrun by parents and children for their shichigosan ceremonies, so... It felt a bit odd to be looking around. As a result our visit was rather brief.
From there we walked over to the nearest station, Minami-Shiga. And grabbed the train to Sakamoto-Hieizanguchi.
Despite the delay in my plans , I very stubbornly held onto my plans to actually climb the mountain, up to Enryakuji, instead of riding the cable car (as my husband would.)

Along the way I certainly questioned myself a few times why the plan had been to climb the mountain via the Honzaka trail, rather than descending. Which would have arguably been easier... Just to remind myself I chose this order, because otherwise I might have ended up on a dark trail due to sunset coming earlier than expected.
Anyway, the trail was pretty, but really pushed me to my limits again. Or maybe I'm just trying to go to quickly and that's what's breaking me up. Official maps say the trail should take roughly 2 hours, but I reached the top after a single hour... I just feel that if I went any slower, I wouldn't be making any progress... Of the weather had been nicer, I might have taken a few more breaks though... It is a pretty rough trail though.
