"Haunted House!"
Summary - After the second case, the third floor is revealed to have a Haunted House in it. Veronika immediately takes advantage of this, and with the help of J, Rose, and Whit, she puts it into action. Much to the dismay of some of her classmates. (this is kinda fluff? I think?)
Tumblr media
Tw - There’s some vague mentions of violence, mild body horror mentioned for one of Veronika's stories, and some mentions of dry heaving at the end.
-
“Welcome one, welcome all!” Veronika called out happily as she stood at the opening of the haunted house. “Welcome to Veronika’s Haunted House!!” She said enthusiastically. “AHEM!” J’s voice called out over the intercom. J was doing all of the special effects and such for the Haunted House, meaning she also had control of the intercom.
“Yes yes, with help from the wonderful J, Rose, and Whit!” Veronika added and took a little bow. Veronika’s peers stood outside of the Haunted House. Veronika was also wearing a black suit that sort of broke into a dress of sorts. “MonoTV really screwed us all with this one.” Teruko muttered.
“C’mon, don’t be like that Teruko! It could be fun!” Eden protested and smiled.
“Indeed. Veronika and her lovely helpers put a lot of work into preparing this event. You should all be excited, it was made for you all.” Hu stated and smiled slightly.
“Well, if it is a work of Miss Rosales, then of course I must go and experience it!” Arturo stated and began to approach the front doors.
“Yes yes, that’s the spirit! Come along, I’ll be your guide.” Veronika said and gestured for the group. “Wait– Whit,” Charles turned to Whit, “You helped plan this all, correct? Does this have any… you know…” His voice trailed off a bit. “Fake blood? Course not! Does fake blood even trigger your fear?” Whit asked and tilted his head. “I’m not the most sure, and I do not plan on finding out at any time soon.” Charles replied coldly. “Yes, alright, get your bearings before we enter!” Veronika said and awaited them to get better.
“A… H-Haunted House…? H-Haunted?! B-By ghosts?!” Ace called out and nervously started nibbling on his fingers.
“The ghosts aren’t real, you fucking idiot.” David commented. David still looked just as sad and pathetic as any other day.
“Hey! I wasn’t talking to you, asshole!” Ace shouted as his head snapped in the direction of David.
“Try not to burst a blood vessel. Or even better, try not to get a heart attack and die from the cardboard cutout zombies in there.” David said and smirked before laughing at Ace. “Eat shit and die! I’ll go through there, and not die! I’ll show you!” Ace shouted, David having provoked his pretty competitive nature. Ace boldly strode up to the front door of the Haunted House. “Ace, now don’t get ahead of yourself.” Levi muttered and followed after Ace. “Well Davey? Are you going to along with us?” Veronika asked and looked to David. “Am I getting paid?” David muttered. “Getting paid?” Veronika began, sounding slightly confused. But then her eyes lit up, “Oh right! Because you think humanity is pointless and corrupt, so you appeal to that belief and refuse to do anything unless it benefits you! And especially now that you’re no longer acting.” Veronika analyzed and leaned into her hands as she dissected David’s character. “Wow. How many wikipedia pages did you have to read to come to that conclusion?” David mumbled.
Whit and Charles approached the door, but Whit then suddenly leaned closer to Veronika. “Hey, maybe it’s for the better if David doesn’t tag along. The guys… A little.” Whit began speaking but his voice trailed off.
“Interesting! No, very interesting! Besides, this will be great for my character analysis.” Veronika replied before approaching David and yanking him to the door. “Hey!” He yelped, “Hands off!” He shouted. But he was ultimately ignored by Veronika.
Nico stared at the door. They seemed to really want to go along with everyone else, but also didn’t want to get too scared. “Are you alright hon?” Hu asked and checked on Nico.
“Y-Yeah, I’m alright.” Nico commented. Hu seemed to notice Nico’s worry. “You know, Nico, if you do not want to go, I wouldn’t mind staying back with you.” Hu offered.
“N-No, it’s okay! I want to go. But…” Nico’s voice trailed off a bit, “Just a little scared.” They added. Hu smiled empathetically.
“Well, that’s alright. If you get scared I’ll be right by your side the entire time. No need to worry. Besides, if something bad really does happen, then I’ll have Teruko and Eden protect you.” Hu said and giggled a little at that as she and Nico looked over at the two. “Isn’t that right?” Hu added. “...Huh?” Teruko replied and raised an eyebrow before rolling her eyes a bit, “No promises, but sure. I’ll try.” She muttered.
“Of course we will!” Eden called out. She approached Nico and put her arm around them. “This’ll be lots of fun!” She called out.
“Well, is everybody ready?” Veronika called out and smiled.
“I guess.” Teruko answered. “Mhm!” Eden agreed excitedly. “Let’s just get this over with.” David grumbled and rolled his eyes, doing that gun motion to his head again.
“Let’s hurry up and fucking go!” Ace urged. Veronika giggled. “It seems like everyone is ready! So let’s go on ahead then. No reason to keep the darkness waiting.” Veronika said as her expression darkened, and yet her smile growing more wide. “N-Ngh…” Nico slightly whimpered at that. Veronika swung the doors open. The haunted house was frighteningly dark, the only light coming from a few candles that were lit. “Don’t worry, I’ll lead the way.” Veronika stated as she led the group down the dark hallway. “Now, let me tell you all a story. I call this story… Ravenway.” She began. The hallway had the look of stone walls, with black fathers that slowly became more and more abundant as they walked further down. And the ground soon became decorated with a fake train track.
“Ravenway? Awe! Is it a story about a cute bird?” Eden asked excitedly. “This is a Haunted House, Eden. We wouldn’t be hearing about it if it was.” Teruko muttered. “Well, allow me to answer all of your queries! And tell the story of Ravenway.” Veronika began. She turned her back to the group as she walked. “The raven has always been a symbol of death and coming doom. Ever since the sacred poem- ‘The Raven’ by Edgar Allen Poe.” Veronika began. “But one story of a raven has stuck out since the 1800’s… Stories of people seeing a mutant… human sized, flesh sack with the head of a raven hastily crafted together on it, and covered in feathers. The feathers of the bird would be left wherever it went. And people would see this raven, only glimpses of it every day. But every day, the raven would slip closer to them, and leave more and more feathers.” Veronika explained.
CA-CAW!!
“W-Wah!” Nico called out. They didn’t seem very scared by the story, but rather the loud sound that protruded the air from the intercom.
“GAHA!” Ace screamed out and latched onto Levi. Levi seemed caught off guard by the touch and didn’t really know how to react, and just opted to awkwardly let Ace hold onto him.
Veronika chuckled at that.
Charles seemed to be paying attention, the story getting in his head, and he seemed fairly invested, which Whit slightly smiled at.
“A-And what happens when the raven keeps getting closer?” Eden stuttered out, taking it very seriously.
“Well, my friends, no matter how far you run and no matter how hard you try and hide… The raven will find you. And when it does, it’s said that all you hear is the raven’s call before you are never heard from again. Once you see the raven once, that’s the end of you. You die no matter what. As you try desperately to escape the raven, you may end up on train tracks, or perhaps on the edge of the roof. All of the victims are found with raven’s feathers stuffed into their stomachs.” Veronika reached the end of the hallway, and snuck her hand behind her, and pressed a button that was hidden beneath some of the feathers on the wall. She clicked the button, and a trap-door in the roof opened, and from it, a terrifying replication of the described raven was hung. “GaaHH!” Ace screamed again and continued to hold onto Levi’s arm. “You scream like a prissy.” David commented on Ace’s scream.
“What beautiful effects! This must be the work of Miss Rosales.” Arturo stated and made That Face (you know the one) at the very thought.
“Oh my!” Hu seemed startled, before chuckling. “How clever.” She stated.
“If that were me, I could totally get the raven to be my bud. We’d be gossip besties.” Whit said and shrugged a bit. “Y-Yeah! That’s the spirit, Whit!” Eden agreed. “How do you know that the raven even talks? There’s a good chance it would just ignore you, you know!” Charles replied. “You don’t need to talk to communicate. I’d make ‘em tea and everything.” Whit said.
“That sounds more like hallucinations than anything. There’s no way that’s real.” Charles stated, though Charles was very clearly invested.
“Wh-WHAT?!? I-Is there no way to stop it?! I-If you see it- is that it? BOOM! Dead? Oh fuck oh fuck- like totally fate fucking sealed?” Ace questioned, still latching onto Levi like he was his lifeline. “Indeed. But when has there ever been an escape of death?” Veronika replied before giggling.
“W-Wow… That’s pretty interesting! Can you tell us more?” Nico asked, genuinely really interested in where the legend was going.
“How about another story?” Veronika offered as they turned the corner, and Veronika pulled a black curtain out of the way, revealing a staircase. She then went ahead and began going up the stairs. “It’s called Cymbal Bunny Head Smasher.” Veronika said, her voice darkening. “Well they sound friendly.” Teruko muttered. Various ‘thud’ sounds protruded the air as the group went up the stairs.
“Cymbal Bunny Head Smasher is the story of a giant, robotic bunny animatronic. One who’s code was hacked into. And one day, during a children’s party, Cymbal Bunny’s cymbals began to smash together.” Veronika began to explain. As the group walked down the hallway, the room was themed after a children’s sort of party room. But there were fake children corpses placed variously around the room. And thankfully, for Charles’ sake, bloodless.
“And the Cymbal Bunny animatronic began to move towards the children. Loud thuds followed each of their footsteps. And the sound of the cymbals smacking together was heard.” Veronika continued. CLASH thud CLASH thud CLASH thud
The described sound of the bunny’s loud footsteps and the clashing of the cymbals was played over the intercom.
“All until the Cymbal Bunny got too close to the children, and the Cymbal Bunny stuck the heads of it’s little victims right in between it’s clashing clashing cymbals! Hehehahah!” Veronika giggled manically at the thought. “It’s so terrifyingly gross!” She added. “Ngaaah!” Ace groaned and put his hands over his ears. Levi put his arm around him.
“Wait wait, let me guess,” Charles began, “Now a bunch of cymbal sounds are going to plAY–gaH!” Charles called out in fear as he was indeed right, and the familiar cymbal sounds played.
The walls of the room were shaken as the cymbal sounds played, implying that the Cymbal Bunny animatronic was breaking down the walls or something. “Clever right? I made that story up, so you don’t gotta worry about it being real.” Whit said and vaguely tapped Charles on the shoulder. “YOU, Whit Young, thought of that?” Teruko questioned, even she seemed surprised that Whit was capable of that.
“G-Gosh… I’ll never go around animatronics again!” Eden called out.
“...Five Nights at Freddy’s?” Nico muttered quietly.
“Ah, your fear fuels me. Now why don’t we do one more story to close off for tonight? This one I like to call… Zombieland.” Veronika said. She giggled excitedly, “Now this one is my favorite. So pay attention!~” She said. “Zombieland…? You mean like Zombieland Saga? The cute Idol Anime??” Eden called out excitedly.
“I’d suppose you’d hope for that. But no, dear Eden, no.” Veronika replied and was still smiling ear to ear. Veronika led the group up another set of stairs. This next area was far more open compared to the narrow hallways from before. Yet they were still boxed in by wooden gates. The room was resembling a farm’s sort of field at night, a fake moon hung up in the corner of the room.
“The story of Zombieland…” Veronika began, “It takes place in a small, small town in Missouri, but after Zombieland, some call that place just Misery.” Veronika cackled at her own joke. “Just get on with it!” David shouted. “It’s fun to watch you all shit your pants over nothing, but this is getting boring.” He grumbled.
“Yes yes… Well, an acidic chemical had slipped into the water stream after a horrible accident… And slowly, one by one, people began to go crazy, and become violence-craving due to the chemicals in the water… Practically turning the people into zombies!” Veronika exclaimed. “And slowly, everyone began to get infected. And the chemicals got into the rain. And sooner than later, things only got worse! The situation was utterly hopeless- absolutely full of despair.” Veronika explained. “Everyone began to rot away as the rain turned acid burnt away their flesh! And yet that did not stop them as they craved violence!” She continued, smiling ear to ear. “The only survivors were forced to hide away in places like schools, cars, and apartments. But no doors and no walls can keep the hordes off for long. There is no one to go to and nowhere to hide.” She stated. “That is terrifying…” Levi muttered, he himself seeming a little scared by this one. “Having no where to go… How absolutely horrific…” He mumbled. “You guys can’t actually be taking this seriously…” Teruko face palmed as she said that. “Oh they totally are!” Whit called out and giggled. Charles was invested and was trying to find a way to disprove it.
“That’s impossible.” Charles spoke up. “Any chemical that could impact the brain that much would simply end the victim in a few hours.” He stated. Eden perked up before sighing in relief. “Thanks Charles… You’re definitely making us more comfortable.” Eden thanked genuinely. “What? I wasn’t–” He searched for words, Charles feeling slightly afraid to just… accept gratitude. “...You’re welcome.” He stated simply beneath his breath.
“Some say that the left-overs from that accident are still roaming today.” Veronika said and smirked almost evilly. The group reached the end of the hallway. Veronika had her hands up, waiting for something to happen. There was a long silence as nothing happened. Veronika tilted her head a bit as her smile faded. “I said… Some say that the left-overs from that accident are still roaming today!” Veronika repeated, simply louder this time, though her excitement did not fade.
Suddenly, J’s voice came back on over the intercom:
“Ugh! You’ve gotta be joking…” J muttered. “Rose! Wake up! Do your part!” J screamed into the microphone.
“W-Wah!” The familiar voice of Rose called out from behind a curtain. “Oops. My bad.” Rose muttered before emerging from behind the curtain. She had on very good zombie make-up, more than likely done by Veronika.
“BllaHHhh!” Rose let out some sort of half-hearted cry as she leaned over the wooden gate, shaking it a bit, trying to scare them. “W-Woah!” Eden called out and recoiled back. “Awe! How cute.” Hu said and put a hand to her chin and smiled at Rose.
“F-Fuck! Holy fuck! Shit!” Ace whined out at the sight of Rose’s bad acting. Ace was pretty easily tricked by that. “SHIT! Z-Zombie!” He screamed. Poor Levi was now sandwiched between Eden and Ace, and Levi himself semed a little off-put by the act.
“Tehehehe!” Veronika giggled at that. “Wow. This is somehow worse than I could have even imagined. It’s almost funny.” David mumbled. “Calm down Eden, you’re gonna burst a blood vessel.” Teruko said and pat Eden on the shoulder. Eden took a deep breath, trying to calm down. “You’re right, Teruko.” Eden said. She shut her eyes and calmed down a bit before opened them again. She recoiled back, startled again.
“Oh gosh! It’s another zombie!” Eden cried out and pointed into a darker part of the area, where a set of yellow eyes were seen. This zombie, not being Rose, was standing in the dark. But suddenly, the person the eyes belonged to stepped out of the darkness.
“It’s just me, you dumb fuck!” David hissed, his voice drenched in venom before stalking off ahead.
“Sorry bro, but you can’t blame her, you do look kinda dead!” Whit agreed. David simply rolled his eyes. He was clearly only there to watch them suffer.
Veronika coughed into her hand, calling the attention back to herself. “Now, where were we?” She asked no one but herself. “Ah yes… But some say that the chemical is still going around. And that one day soon, so very soon, there may be a repeat of history.” She said, her voice darkening into a low whisper.
And suddenly, the lights flashed, and a hologram was projected across the room. The hologram was of various undeads, courtesy of J and her special effects talent.
“What wonderful quality!” Arturo called out, immediately taking the chance to praise J. “Waahah!” Eden cried out and hid behind Teruko, who just seemed to be confused. Ace looked like he was about to pass out, and the only reason he wasn’t on the ground was because Levi was now holding him up a bit.
“How… violent…” Charles murmured at the sight. “S-Still impossible.” He insisted.
David stared at the effect right in the face. “See, this. This is why I hate humanity.” David stated offhandedly as he walked right through the CGI hologram creatures to the exit. He walked past Veronika and pressed the door open, revealing the light of day.
“Ah, well that’s all, folks! I hope you’ve all enjoyed this journey!” Veronika said and smiled brightly and yet sincerely. Veronika turned to the fourth wall, “Especially you all.” She added.
-
Everyone had ended up leaving and going outside.
Ace was sitting on the steps of the Haunted House and was hunched over a trashcan given to him by Hu, while dry-heaving from how nervous the Haunted House made him. Levi was gently patting him on the back and holding back his hair for him.
Nico was asking Veronika a bunch of questions about the legends, becoming quite enthralled in it. Rose was sitting on the stairs as well, with Hu removing the make-up from her face. J was excitedly and proudly explaining the effects she used to Eden, Teruko, and Arturo. David had just left. Whit and Charles were just debating on if they could actually survive any of the scenarios, Charles using facts and logic, while Whit was still somehow winning the debate?
Veronika stood outside of her Haunted House and seemed very proud of her work.
A/N - Been writing a lot of angst recently so I just wanted to write about these little guys shivering in their timbers a bit. Today is Day Two of writing DRDT fics until I just can’t anymore and so far: light work, no reaction. Easy as pie. Simple. Silly.

who was whos date on prom???? beside veronica's and ashley's, they're obvious
(Assuming the player didn't go to Prom with the person listed):
Hex and Juno went as friends, Tate went alone (obv :( ), Sawyer went alone (also obv :( ), Melyssa and Horsemike actually technically went together but only as a favor for a friend because she's pledging DIK (he ignored her most of the time b/c he's a huge jackass, but Melyssa doesn't seem to mind. :(?), Kennedy went alone (b/c she chickened out on asking the person she wanted to), and Cliff & Stitcherella went as dates (even though their sprites aren't in the map yet. erg.) Jennykind missed Prom much to Veronika's chagrin >:( Laila REJECTED several people and ended up going on her own, so the player's lucky ;)

Since ep 8 of despair time is almost here ima scream about my thoughts on ep 7
read more contains major chapter 2 spoilers, esp for the end of the ep!
Teruko even when she’s being a grumpy cat is a big mood
*sleeps in four hours in* “I’M GONNA BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!” “Wait I’m in a killing game I don’t have school”
and then nopes out of drama much to the audience’s dismay (these eps being livestreamed makes the meta of Despair Time being a tv show 10x hilarious, it’s like v3 all over again)
Part of me expected Ace to damage his vocal chords or lose his voice due to him neglecting his throat wound, but it must’ve been surface level since he’s still at 110% volume, Eden must’ve dragged him to the infirmary, she’s got willpower, she could do it
and Nico being oddly quiet makes me think that they regret trying to kill Ace and it was a “I am in so much stress I’m going to express it in a very unhealthy way” and that way was attempted murder
Doesn’t make what Nico did okay... but I get why they tried to kill Ace, they have really bad experiences with getting bullied and Ace constantly picking on them in an environment like the killing game is not good for one’s mental health, (plus getting outed w/o their consent DAVID--)
the convo with Rose at the gym makes me think of the vine of “I thought you could do a kickflip--” “I can! I did one this morning!”
Wonder why J was in the gym, hmmmmmmmm
and then Rose realizing Nico stole her art supplies to commit murder--
*shakes Nico* I love you but *points to Rose* you gave her anxiety, apologize asap
I think they’re genuine friends but Nico def made some bad choices and should apologize
Best part of the ep is no doubt the charwhit shenanigans, everything else is on fire and they are vibing, I also love that Whit is helping Charles learn how to cook and they both are finding things they have in common
Veronika is an interesting character for sure, she reminds me a bit of Junko but if Junko dealt with her despair addiction in a healthy matter (aka horror movies)
I don’t think Veronika is like the mastermind or secretly a serial killer (please god do not let us have another chapter 3 serial killer), she is just a little Unhinged like your everyday tumblr user
and then the BDA happens this ep and *sigh*
...Arei : (
Was really terrified once David noticed she was missing and the way she died... wtf to whomever killed her I have words for you
It really sucks bc (a. the playground of all places?! b. She had a really bad hand in life and C. I wanted to see her be happy!)
I’ve seen a lot of people debate it being David or Hu or Eden (I doubt it’s Eden since the BDA went off and I think she has some part to play) but I’m not sure, but it def wasn’t an accident like Xander
and it’s def gonna be a long trial since bda files aren’t a thing in this game, which is super cool and it made the first trial really interesting as part of the mystery was the cast assumed Xander died from a throat wound but in reality he died from electrocution
who knows what’ll happen next ep but I am def scared for the investigation

req: i was wondering if i could request a natasha x teen daughter reader where the reader has really bad social anxiety please? maybe where the reader was in the red room with natasha but given to hydra once the red room was taken down and natasha has been looking for her ever since she left the red room. on a mission to take down a hydra base natasha finally finds reader, and it's super emotional for the both of them and they're just happy to have each other back. natasha knows about readers social anxiety from when she was younger and sees that it's only gotten worse now, so she's super sweet and understanding. she saves the reader from the base and comforts her the whole way home because she's scared of all of the new people also on the jet (the other avengers). the reader lives with natasha at the compound with everyone else and natasha is just great about her social anxiety and never pushes her out of her comfort zone and comforts her when she has panic attacks. sorry if that's a lot, but thank you so much! i love your fics sooo much, you're such an amazing writer!!! 💖💖💖
mother figure!nat x fem!teen!reader
summary: nat finally finds you after years of looking.
word count: 4083
notes: i didn't make them peers in the red room because then they'd have to be around the same ages but i made them meet at the red room. also i didn't know how to write about her having social anxiety so i hope you don't mind that i didn't 😓 hope you like this <33
"stop," madame b's authoritative voice commanded and all of you stopped dancing. all of your peers seemed to be struggling to stand still on their battered feet, some breathing heavily but who could blame them? you had all been instructed to dance for hours now. you had to dance until you couldn't anymore.
your head faced madame b but your eyes landed on your best friend, veronika, for a split second. she seemed in pain and you vowed to check on her after whatever announcement your supervisor had for you. you stood tall, clenching your jaw in order to not show that you were in pain or out of breath.
madame b's gaze flickered to you for a second, her lip lifting up on one side for a brief moment before her face hardened once again.
"i have someone special here today. she's here to observe your training and if necessary, teach what you girls lack. she has long graduated this academy, please welcome miss natasha romanova."
you jolted awake, panting hard at the memory that just played in your dreams. you looked around you, seeing the same cell wall you had been put in for the past three years. after the fall of the red room academy where you were from, another organisation came and swooped you in, not wanting to waste your skills. you were the only one they took, having heard much about your abilities and reputation in the red room.
the girls stood all around you and veronika, watching the two of you spar tirelessly after hours of endless ballet. natasha and madame b watched the match closely, eyes trained on your techniques and movements.
after natasha had introduced herself to all of you, madame b had instructed her supposedly two best students—you and veronika— to demonstrate a true spar between skilled assassins.
while you were reluctant to attack your best friend, she had other plans, one that included impressing her idol who stood mere metres away from her. you were shocked when she started attacking you. never had she obeyed a command against you so quick.
you had to put away your initial shock to start attacking back in order to not get hurt by the hands of your own best friend. the look in her eyes was different, almost animalistic. it wasn't like the one she had when you two were laid in your beds side to side at night, handcuffed to it while you talked about your deepest struggles being in the academy. it wasn't the same one she had when you reassured her that she was doing okay whenever she said she would never be as good as you were at this whole assassin thing. it wasn't the same innocently surprised one she had just moments ago when she was addressed as one of madame b's best students.
this wasn't your best friend. this was a girl blinded by her desire to impress. she wanted to show natasha that she was the better one out of you two. your heart broke when you saw her desperation. it was obvious in the way she fought you.
it wasn't long before you had her in a chokehold, the girl struggling to get your grip off of her. your face visibly faltered, eyes tearing up slightly when you heard her whimpers. natasha took notice of this.
your lips were quivering when you turned to madame b. a simple nod from your trainer had you whispering a strained 'i'm sorry, i love you' in her ear before you broke her neck. the girl fell limp in your arms, dropping down to the mat, dead. you panted heavily as you stepped away from her body.
"good. this is what i expect of all of you," madame b turns to your peers, the stone cold look back on her face. "one thing you need to perfect though, y/n, is your emotions. don't get emotional over things that don't matter. i saw your inner conflict. veronika would have no reluctancy to end you if you were the one in the chokehold. she was more mentally prepared to be a ruthless assassin. you're lucky you're more skilful than she is. she would have no hesitation to kill you, close companion or not."
you swallowed that lump in your throat, biting the insides of your cheeks to prevent crying right then and there. "you have a lot of potential, y/n. don't let your emotions ruin it. i have high hopes for you." she spoke once again, before dismissing everyone.
you left the room with a heavy heart, turning to look at veronika's body one last time before leaving quickly so you could break down where no one else could witness.
you rushed to the staircase where you and veronika would sneak away all the time when you were supposed to be having lunch. you two would always sit under those stairs, talk about anything and everything you could. your tears were now freely rolling down your face.
"hey," you heard a voice say and you quickly wiped your tears away. you looked up and saw that it was none other than natasha. "miss romanova," you breathed out, scrambling to get up before she placed a gentle hand on your shoulder, the woman seating herself next to you on the floor, under the staircase.
"that must've been hard for you," she spoke after a few seconds of silence. "i remember my first time killing an actual person in training. they had me shoot targets and i consistently got the bullseye every time. then they switched out the targets to an actual person and i had a hard time doing that. i can't imagine how it must've been for you. i heard you and veronika were quite the inseparable duo."
you didn't move to show that you were shattered over the current events but the millions of tears silently streaming down your face said otherwise. natasha turned to you, reaching to wipe your tears away before gently caressing your cheek.
"you're a strong one, y/n. you remind me of myself when i was still in training. i can see myself in you." she told you truthfully. she had no idea why but she felt a strong connection towards you. she felt that you and her had so much in common. she had a strange inclination to protect you even though she knew damn well you were capable of doing so yourself.
since then, she always dropped by to help train all of you but you and her developed a relationship so strong that she even told you of her plans to get you out of that hellhole. at that point, it had been a few months since she'd turned good but she kept coming to the academy for your sake. she felt a sense of responsibility over you, like a mother would over her daughter.
she would with the other girls too if they had shown at least a bit of humanity but it seemed that the red room had ruined them beyond fixing. despite being the best student of the academy, you still weren't inhumane like the rest. you would hesitate to hurt others, only doing so when threatened and even that, you still weren't as heartless or cruel.
madame b would always berate you over this but natasha would pick up the pieces every single time. you loved her. she was the best thing in your life after veronika and your heart broke when the red room fell and you were taken away. away from the mother you never had.
you awoke with a jolt again. it was the second night in a row you were reliving your past memories. you touched your face and you felt the tears on it, wiping them with your sleeve as you sat up in your cold, uncomfortable bed in your cell. you sighed, bringing your knees up to your chest and hugging them.
you couldn't help but think of nat again. what could've happened if she managed to get you out before you were taken away? could you have a nice life with her? would you never have to hide under the stairs to have emotional exchanges with the woman? would you finally have been able to be who you were, not influenced by the evil around you?
you never knew what it was like having a mother but you imagined it was what nat had been towards you during the times you spent together at the academy. you two were more mother and daughter rather than trainer and student.
all of a sudden, alarms blared through the building and red warning lights flickered in your cell. you stood up, peeking through the small glass of your cell door to see guards rushing through the hallways in a frenzy.
you assumed that the facility was under attack and no one was coming to save you. you didn't even try, walking back to your bed to return to your position of hugging your knees tightly to your chest.
you could hear the chaos outside but opted not to pay attention to it. it didn't involve you and if no one was coming to save you from whatever was attacking the place—not that anyone in that place would, you were merely an asset to them—you wouldn't bother worrying about whether you were going to live by the end of the night.
a loud bang interrupted your thoughts and you looked up to see your cell door had been forcefully thrown open by a large man in stripes, holding a circular shield. you immediately stood up, getting ready to attack him when he spoke.
"i'm not here to hurt you." he said, holding out a hand as if to tell you to stop whatever you were about to do. "we're here to save you. you can finally leave this place now." he says gently. you frown at him, still in a stance ready to attack him.
"cap, is there someone in this room?" a familiar voice spoke and your head immediately turned to the door, where the owner of the voice stood, mouth dropping open at the sight of you. your face softened and a tiny gasp left your lips at the sight of her.
"y/n...is that you?" she breathed out, walking towards you and not stopping when she saw that you weren't alarmed or anything. "nat.." you choked out, tears starting to form. how crazy was it that you had been having flashbacks of her for the past two nights and suddenly she was here to come save you?
"y/n!" she exclaimed, pulling you into a tight hug. you knees buckled but she held onto you tightly, sniffling as she caressed your head gently. you buried your face in her shoulder as you took in the familiar feeling of being in her arms once again.
more tears started to form in your eyes now. never had you thought you were actually going to see her again. you lost the hope of seeing her again two years ago. but here she was, standing in your cell and hugging you like there would be no tomorrow.
your hugging session was cut short when steve sheepishly spoke up. "sorry to uh, interrupt this reunion but more guards are coming, i think it's best if we leave now." he picked up his shield, leading the three of you out of the facility safely and back to their quinjet. the whole time, nat held onto your hand tightly, as if letting go would lead to another few years of being apart once again.
once you reached the quinjet, nat led you to the seats in the back where you two would have more privacy. the team watched the two of you in confusion before turning back to steve for an explanation as he was the one who was partnered with nat for this mission. all the captain could tell them was that you two knew each other way before this and that all of them would have to wait for an explanation from nat herself if they wanted to know what was going on.
when you reached the compound, nat led you to her room where she lent you her clothes and let you shower before tucking you into her bed. when she was sure you were comfortably asleep, she left the room quietly to go grab a glass of water only to find the whole team sat in the common room instead of back in their own rooms.
she looked at them, confused. "guys, it's like almost the crack ass of dawn and we just got back from a mission, why aren't you asleep? or were you debriefing? in the common room? did i miss it?"
"no, you know debriefings for late night missions are the next morning. we were waiting for you actually," steve spoke on behalf of the whole team. "me? for what?"
"nat, c'mon, don't act stupid. you know what we're talking about," clint makes an unimpressed face at his best friend. nat sighs, taking a seat next to him and the team look at her expectantly. she cleared her throat, preparing for a whole story time.
"you know how i was from the red room?" she asked them and they all nodded, urging her to continue her story. "well, after i graduated, i was asked to come help train the younger ones in the programme. during that time, i met this girl. she reminded me a lot of my younger self and she didn't seem completely brainwashed to the point where she lacked emotions. i grew close to her and after i met clint and joined SHIELD, i vowed to get her out of there because she went through a lot in that hellhole and i could tell she didn't want to do any of the things that the other girls were fine doing.
"she had a good heart and i didn't want it to be wasted. she was the best in the academy and i knew they had big plans for her. but i didn't want her to be programmed to kill. she was much more than that. so i made this whole plan for her escape. i kept going back to the academy to come see her and share my plan with her. clint, you always asked me where i kept disappearing to when we first started becoming friends. it was her. the people there didn't know i was already under SHIELD at that time—nobody did—so it was safe for me to keep visiting and keep planning an escape for her.
"but three years ago, the red room fell. i rushed over because i thought i could finally leave with her without anyone knowing. but apparently she'd been taken away. she was the only one of the girls who was taken. by who, i didn't know at that time. but i knew it was because of her skills and abilities. if the red room had big plans for her, i knew other organisations must've already heard of her too.
"i never stopped looking for her. i don't know why i never thought of HYDRA. but it doesn't matter anymore. i finally found her and i'm never letting her go. i hope you guys don't mind that she lives here now. if not, i'll move out and find somewhere for us."
the team seemed surprised that nat told them her story. they were very much expecting her to, well, not tell them because this seemed like a very personal story.
"no, no, of course she can stay. i'll even set up another room for her." tony says and nat nods gratefully. "what's her name?" wanda asks.
"y/n," nat tells her, smiling at the thought of you as she stands up. "alright, i have to go back to her. see you guys in the morning. maybe you'll get to see her then."
she bids them goodnight, leaving after grabbing a glass of water for you in case you woke up in the middle of the night, in need of it. she wasn't wrong because when she got back to her room, you were up, hugging your knees as you cried.
"hey, hey, hey, what's wrong, sugar?" she quickly puts the glass of water on the bedside table, sitting on the bed and pulling you close to her. you look up at her all teary-eyed and she feels her heart break.
"i–i thought i lost you again," you croaked out, burying your face in her shoulder. "oh, sugar, you'll never lose me ever again. i'll never let that happen. you're safe here with me. now sleep, i'll be here when you wake up." she stroked your hair gently, laying down next to you on the bed before you two fell into a blissful slumber in each other's arms.
true to her words, she was right next to you when you woke up the next time. she seemed wide awake and you felt bad because she probably had been up hours before but didn't leave you because you were scared.
"how'd you sleep, sugar?" she asked as you sat up, stretching. "the best i have in years. thanks to you, nat." you smiled at her, still not believing all of this is real. that you're finally reunited with the woman you thought of as your mother.
"do you want to meet my friends? they're dying to meet you," she tells you and you bite your lips nervously. "do you think they'll like me?"
"are you crazy? of course they will. and if they don't, i'll make them." she threatens playfully and you laugh, missing how protective of you she is. you smile, agreeing to her suggestions to meet her friends after you got ready for the day.
-
"hi, sweetie, you're y/n?" a man with fancy silk pyjamas greeted as you entered the common room with natasha. you nodded timidly, scooting closer to natasha. it was weird for natasha to see you this nervous. after all, you were the best student of your batch in the red room. but she understood that years with no actual social interaction does that to people.
"i hope you'll like staying here, i already have your room setting up as of right now. when you move in, you can tell me if you don't like anything and i'll change it for you. oh, i forgot, i'm tony," he extends a hand towards you and with an encouraging nod from nat, you hesitantly shake his hand. he smiles at you before telling you both he has projects to finish down in his lab and to tell him if you needed anything.
"hey, nat, not gonna introduce your friend to us?" you heard a voice from behind you and you two turned around to see two men and a woman. you recognised both men—one of them was the one who broke into your cell last night and the other one you had seen him a lot from pictures nat would show you during your secret meetings in your red room days. he was her best friend. you didn't know the woman but the kind smile on her face was enough to reassure you that these people weren't bad.
"y/n, meet clint, the idiot who i call best friend," she points to the shorter man. the name nat called him must've offended him because the face he made was hilarious that you let out a little giggle. nat smiles at this before proceeding to introduce the other two.
"this one's steve, he's an old man stuck in a young body—literally— so if he says things you don't understand, just smile and nod." you nod at nat and steve gives her an incredulous look, as if not believing the audacity she had to introduce him like that.
"this one's wanda, she's the least annoying person in this whole place and she can cook whatever you want so i think you two will get along really well." wanda smiles at you and you return it shyly. you smile at the other two before nat drags you away, telling them she still had others to introduce you to.
when you entered the kitchen, you saw a man reading a newspaper on the kitchen island while another man, whose skin was red, stood beside him. they seemed to be discussing something very intelligent because you didn't understand a single word they spoke.
"bruce, vision, i want you to meet someone." they turned their attentions towards you and nat and you immediately felt like hiding once again. "oh hello, steve told us you brought back someone from the mission. is this her? hello, i'm bruce," the man sitting down introduced himself.
"wait, is this the bruce?" you asked nat, smirking teasingly at her and she smacks you gently on the shoulder. the man seemed flustered at what you're insinuating, scratching his neck awkwardly.
"bruce, vision, this is y/n, i've known her for a long time and i finally found her after years so i hope you two won't mind that she'll be staying here from now on," nat tells them. the two of them didn't come on the mission last night so they were the only two who didn't actually see you until today.
"it's nice to meet you, y/n. i'm vision, i hope you'll enjoy your stay here." the man with the red skin greets formally and you turn to nat with a confused expression. "he's an android, he does things a bit weird here so don't mind him." she whispers to you and you nod understandingly.
"it's nice to meet you two, i hope we'll be good friends." you say awkwardly, hoping to get this whole introduction thing over with. how many people do you have left to meet?
speaking of the devil—or should you say, devils—, two annoying voices rang through the kitchen, interrupting the peacefulness that it was before they came in.
"i'm just saying that if you hadn't eaten my last bag of chips last week, i wouldn't have taken your cookies last night. it's all about fair play, man."
"and i keep telling you that it wasn't me! i don't even like those stupid salty ass chips from that brand,"
"stop lying, i saw you eating that brand the other day! just admit you stole my chips and go,"
"guys, are you really having another one of your stupid arguments now?" nat cuts them off and they immediately turned to you, finally noticing all of you.
"oh hey! y/n, right? it's nice to meet you, i'm sam. if you wanna survive in this place, you better hide your snacks because if you don't, this winter warrior here will snatch 'em all before you can even stash them in the cupboards. don't ever trust this guy here when it comes to your snacks. you heard what happened to mine," the man fakes a cry and you held back a laugh at his long introduction. you only wanted a name to match the face but he gave you much more. you didn't mind though, he seemed like a fun person.
"hi, doll, i'm bucky. don't listen to eagle right here, i do not steal snacks. i simply let people have a taste of their own medicine. you steal my snacks, wilson, i steal 'em back. you think i don't know you stole my oreos too last month? that's why i stole your damn chips last week,"
"so you did steal them!"
"so what if i did?! you stole my oreos first!"
"oh my god, guys, you're really embarrassing me in front of y/n. these are really the people i was excited to introduce her to," nat face-palmed and you couldn't help but laugh. "don't worry nat, these people seem amazing. i can't wait to get to know them better." you assured her and she smiles, pulling you close to her. "buckle up, sugar, because living with the avengers is gonna be a wild ride."
you were excited for what was about to come. it seemed like everything was finally falling into place. you finally got nat back and you didn't have to worry about losing her again because you had a feeling these people weren't going to let that happen.

Some filmmakers I really got into in 2020
I’m famous amongst my friends for hating “all” of the famous film directors but there are, in truth, even more directors whose work I really love. I had so much time to myself in 2020 that I was able to really get into the work of filmmakers I already love, and also to discover new favourites.
Denis Côté
I discovered this director from Québec this year as Ghost Town Anthology appeared one day on Mubi. It looked interesting so I decided to watch it, not knowing anything about it. I’ve now seen three of Côté’s feature films but I think Ghost Town Anthology remains a favourite. I could try and explain what his films are about but I don’t think it would convey quite accurately what it is that I love about his films. It’s in the atmosphere, the dialogues -- the magical realism -- the quiet (and sometimes not so quiet) tragedy.
Seen this year: Curling (2010) Vic + Flo Saw a Bear (Vic + Flo ont vu un ours, 2013) Ghost Town Anthology (Répertoire des villes disparues, 2019)
Agnès Varda
Before the year started I had only seen two of Agnès Varda’s films, Cléo from 5 to 7 an Vagabond. I thought the former was overrated but fell in love with the latter. But these were made more than twenty years apart, an Varda is a legend, so when a lot of her films became available on Mubi I dove in (I even decided to watch all of them, but I’m not there yet). Varda made a lot of shorts and I generally like those, especially Black Panthers and Uncle Yanco, both documentaries, but the two films that really punched me in the gut this year were Le Bonheur, a drama from 1965, and The Gleaners and I, a documentary from 2000. It’s hard to believe those were all made by the same person and yet there are in Varda’s films a commitment, an honesty, a quirkiness sometimes, that make them completely unique.
Seen this year: La Pointe-Courte (1955) Along the Coast (Du côté de la côte, Agnès Varda, 1958) Diary of a Pregnant Woman (L'Opéra-Mouffe, 1958) The Fiancés of the Bridge Mac Donald (Les Fiancés du Pont Mac Donald (ou Méfiez-vous des Lunettes Noires)) (Agnès Varda, 1961) Salut les Cubains (1964) Le Bonheur (1965) Elsa la rose (1966) Uncle Yanco (Oncle Yanco, 1967) Lions Love (Lions Love... And Lies, 1969) Black Panthers (1970) The So-Called Caryatids (Les Dites Cariatides, 1984) Jane B. par Agnès V. (1988) The Gleaners and I (Les Glaneurs et la glaneuse, 2000) Les 3 Boutons (2015)
Peter Strickland
Before 2020 I’d seen Berberian Sound Studio, which I loved, and The Duke of Burgundy, which is one of my favourite films ever. I went into The Duke of Burgundy knowing nothing about it except that the band Cat’s Eyes had made the soundtrack, which was what made me decide to see it. Today I’m not sure whether or not I like Katalin Varga even more -- let’s say I like them both equally. Katalin Varga is Strickland’s first feature film an, how can I describe it? I could say it’s a rape-revenge drama focused on female anger but it’s a lot more than that.
Seen this year: Katalin Varga (2009) The Field Guide to Evil (Peter Strickland, Veronika Franz & Severin Fiala, Katrin Gebbe, Yannis Veslemes, Ashim Ahluwalia, Agnieszka Smoczynska, Can Evrenol, Calvin Reeder, 2018) In Fabric (2018) GUO4 (2019) Cold Meridian (2020)
Céline Sciamma
I watched all four of Céline Sciamma’s films, in order of release, this year. I’d been feeling as if I was missing out on something for quite a while and finally decided to dive in this year. I really liked all of them, even though I’ll admit it, I thought Portrait of a Lady on Fire was overrated -- but I’m so glad this film exists, all the same. In fact, I don’t think Sciamma will ever be a favourite of mine but I am very glad she’s out there, making the films that she’s making, and I do think the world needs more people like her.
Seen this year: Water Lilies (Naissance des pieuvres, 2007) Tomboy (2011) Girlhood (Bande de filles, 2014) Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Portrait de la jeune fille en feu, 2019)
Andrey Zvyagintsev
I first heard about Zvyagintsev when his film Loveless (which I still have not seen) was nominated for an Oscar. Then I started learning Russian and I thought, I need to watch more Russian cinema, and that’s how it started. I didn’t like The Banishment, I thought it was just one big unnecessary display of violence against women. I didn’t like Leviathan much, for the same reason. But Elena was very good, and The Return, in my opinion, is a true masterpiece.
Seen this year: The Return (Возвращение, 2003) The Banishment (Изгнание, 2007) Elena (Елена, 2011) Leviathan (Левиафан, 2014)

the president of our company always hits ‘reply all’ when responding to emails sjdfkjfklsjkl it never includes like sensitive info or anything but i just find it funny like whenever he confirms something it gets sent to everyone LOL
anywayyyYYYY i feel tonnes better today, my sleep last night was like a hyper sleep and i feel like i caught up on all the rest i missed for the last few days, and i did some exercise and almost died bc it was so hot but i did it so its done. my brother went to visit dad last night even though its my non-visiting week which is a) good bc dad is kind appeased during the off weeks and b) i get more home alone time and it was v chill. i feel like my days are so much longer now that i’m going straight home after work, its so good?????? can’t believe i’ve been missing out on this all this time???????
alSO i had a catch up with our HR person yesterday about some of the new duties i’ve taken on. essentially our student services admin left at the end of last year so the idea was to split her role between the new admin and myself. a fair idea because our old admin was doing way too much work, including tonnes of stuff that really shouldn’t have been put on her. so i’ve been working with our new admin Veronika for a couple of weeks, both of us learning the systems and what sort of tasks we’re gonna be responsible for. anyway we had a check in yesterday to see how things were going and i got to say how i felt about the new Situation, which is basically that in my eyes there’s a real obvious divide to the jobs the old admin was doing. a lot of her work was obviously being a coordinator for students, and a lot of it was also coordinating academics. imo she shouldn’t have been dealing with the academics, like that wasn’t her responsibility, and i’ve been feeling like those tasks are ones that fit in with my position as librarian really easily. stuff like preparing, checking and uploading resources - absorbing this into my role is gonna make the flow of information heaps better because i need to know all that info anyway, and in the past i always needed to ask for it. so if it goes through me, then good! i already have it! the other side of things, which is dealing with student enquiries, enrolments and sending students information, is really the domain of the student services office. so when we had our little meeting i was able to say that i think we should divide the old admin’s jobs like that: i’ll take on all the dealing-with-academics stuff, and Veronika can just stick to actually dealing with student stuff. it makes sense and it means everyone is actually doing their jobs instead of being given stuff to do that is someone else’s responsibility. Veronika and our HR lady both thought this made complete sense and i think that’s how we’re gonna work moving forward! Veronika and i are still gonna make sure we know each other’s roles so we can act as a back up for each other, but in terms of the day-to-day, we’ll split the roles into student/academic liaisoning, and its gonna be gooood.
also x2 my supervisor can relax bc i think he was pretty furious about me getting asked to take on some student services tasks LOL.
i think i had something else to say but i can’t remember so uh i’ll edit if i do

Dear Yuletide Author Letter
(Please ignore this if you don’t know what this is about!)
Hello and thank you so much for writing something for me!! I adore seeing what people come up with for Yuletide and I am super excited for what you end up producing. I want this to be a good and enjoyable experience for you as a writer, so don't try to second-guess yourself too much - just have fun making whatever it is!
Squicks/DNWS - no sex, please! (And it also follows that I'd rather like to avoid any noncon, kinky stuff even if it's nonsexual, any other sort of sexual content, etc - that's just not my sort of thing, really.) Romance is all right, if that's the way that you want to take things, but I much prefer close friendships and family dynamics. However!! I am pretty much completely fine with body horror/violence, hurt/comfort, etc.
I love good dialogue, character interaction, twist endings, and imaginative plots - and worldbuilding! Happy endings are preferred but not necessary if it just isn’t working for you.
AUs are... fine and good, as far as I can think of! (Obv no A/B/O or sex-related stuff please, but) canon divergence, fantasy, high school, etc seem all good to me! Especially if there’s a whole lot of clever nods to original canon in there.
And I've just looked at all the fandoms that I've requested, and realized this: if you happen to know more than one of any of these fandoms and feel like writing a crossover between them, I would be delighted to see it and you should absolutely go for it.
Onto the fandoms!
Fandom: Ruby Redfort series - Lauren Child
Available:  I managed to acquire a copy of the full series online via my local library - and the physical copies were at my local library too. I don't have a link to them, I'm afraid!
My sideblog: agentredfort.tumblr.com
Tvtropes page: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Literature/RubyRedfort
Characters: *** Any from *** Ruby Redfort, Hitch, Blacker, LB
About the fandom: This series is very dear to my heart - I dragged its fandom out of the depths of Tumblr singlehandedly a year or two ago and have been creating content for it ever since
Prompts/suggestions:
I'd love to see some casefic! Blacker and Ruby working together to solve a puzzle or problem - either serious or mundane - or Hitch and Ruby on a stakeout of some sort. Or both!
Spectrum office shenanigans - stuff that happens between books, when Ruby and everybody else aren't in mortal danger and that LB will most likely glare disapprovingly at.
On the angstier side of things, if you want to stick Ruby in even more mortal danger than usual I am ALL RIGHT WITH THAT. Rescue missions hell yeah.
I feel like I'll be delighted with whatever you create, tbh. I can’t think of many ways you could go wrong with it.
Fandom: Bernice Summerfield (Big Finish Audio)
Available:  Via the Big Finish website, and all of the boxsets from Epoch to New Frontiers are available for free on Spotify! Just look up Bernice Summerfield there.
My sideblog: it's actually just my normal blog, believe it or not! therogueofblood.tumblr.com/tagged/bernice-summerfield
Tvtropes page: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Franchise/BerniceSummerfield
Characters: *** Any from *** Bernice Summerfield, Irving Braxiatel, Jack, Ruth
About the fandom: It's like if Indiana Jones was shorter, actually did his job, and was a kickass woman who was also the Doctor's companion at one point! And also she has a considerably larger family than Indiana Jones. Her spinoff kind of transcends a lot of forms of media - she's in comics, print, animations, audio dramas, and one really hilariously terrible sort-of-fanfilm made by Lisa Bowerman and Sylvester McCoy when they were on some kind of cruise together. And it more or less transcends genre too. There's been musical episodes right alongside the episode where someone very dear to her manipulates someone else very dear to her into killing (you guessed it) someone who is also very dear to her. It's a wild ride. Anyway.
Prompts/suggestions:
What I would most LOVE to see is some interaction between Benny and Braxiatel. Whenever you would like to set it - be it on Dellah, the Collection, Legion, or elsewhen/where - just them working together/snarking together/robbing a bank or art museum together. Or even just sitting down and having dinner together!
Some family/friendship content based on the Legion-era - adventures around/based in the White Rabbit; Brax cheating at Monopoly during family games night, everybody conspiring to throw Benny a surprise birthday party, etc.
Failing that, just… a good Benny story would be fantastic! Archaeology, adventure, any other combinations. Any era, any time.
EDIT: I’d also be really delighted if you did something related to one of the newest audios, Braxiatel In Love. Some missing scenes (esp. post Benny figuring what was up with Veronica the first time) or some aftermath, etc.

Characters: *** Any from *** Nic Silver, Geoff Van Sant, Meerkatnip, Veronika Pilman
About the fandom: Ahhh, Tanis. What a goddamn weird podcast. I love the characters and the mystery of the show and the atmosphere (!! The atmosphere) but the pacing is not the best, I'll be the first to admit. I love Nic and Geoff (Karl?? Whatever his name is this week. I refer to him as 'Geoff' generally just for consistency's sake.) a lot, but my heart (as you may have guessed from my blog title) is reserved for Meerkatnip.
Prompts/suggestions:
If you feel like writing Geoff/Nic, go for it! Same goes for poly Meerkatnip/Geoff/Nic because that's very good (but I'd prefer not to see MK/Nic or MK/Geoff).
Worldbuilding!!!! This series really benefits from people adding to it in their own ways
Continuation of where Season 4 left off, or some earlier encounter with Tanis, or an exploration of any of the related myths and mysteries
Crossovers (stealth or otherwise) with The Black Tapes are also DEFINITELY on the table
Meerkatnip is a really good character. This is not a suggestion, it is a fact.
Fandom: Gallifrey (Big Finish Audios)
Available: Via the Big Finish website, again.
My sideblog: none, just my regular blog again -  http://therogueofblood.tumblr.com/tagged/gallifandom
Tvtropes page: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Audioplay/Gallifrey
Characters: Irving Braxiatel, Ace McShane
About the fandom: Hmmm… it's like, uh - like the Office and House of Cards got married and had a baby, but on an alien planet. Except it's absolutely nothing like that. Basically, Gallifrey is a mess as far as politics goes, and the current President is trying her best not to let everything go to hell (with the help of her - friends? Colleagues? People who are trying to undermine her at every turn? It's hard to tell) and a bunch of terrible things happen, and then the Time War starts. It is, much like everything else in the Doctor Who universe, a wild, wild ride.
Prompts/suggestions:
……..sorry for being restrictive with this one as far as the characters go, but I just want to see some interactions between Ace and Brax. I have absolutely no idea why but I just have this strange craving for it. He’s basically her uncle right
They seemed to be getting on quite well pre-Soldier Obscura. Some good, non-angsty interactions between them would be, well, ace! Somebody made a post about them teaming up to pull pranks on Narvin and other Time Lords and that’s a frankly adorable idea. Alternately:
go full angst/horror/etc. Missing scenes from Soldier Obscura, stuff after Soldier Obscura (them meeting during late-game Time War/afterwards).
If you would like to write this for me I would be eternally grateful. If you don’t know what Dr. Nyar is, don’t worry about it
Or whatever other direction you can think of!
Again, thank you for writing for me, and I hope you get something awesome in return from your own writer!
EDIT: I’m also open to receiving IF fics! Additional information over here if that’s something you feel like doing!

100 books - German edition
The lovely @bibliophilecats tagged me in this German version of 100 books, thank you so much! I have a feeling this isn’t going to end as well for me as the other one, but it’s fun to see, so thank you for finding the list! :)
After going through the BBCs list of the 100 books I thought it was only fair to look at the German version. The project “Das große Lesen” was led by the German public-service TV station ZDF in 2004. New from Jeff York on The Establishing Shot: BAD PARENTING IS THE TRUE HORROR IN ON DISPLAY IN “THE LODGE”
Better horror movies tend to have a secondary theme that feeds its main premise. JAWS is about the hunt for a man-eating shark, but it’s also about Chief Brody learning to assert his authority. HALLOWEEN is about a knife-wielding psycho, but it’s also about teenage responsibility. THE SHINING is about a hellish hotel, but it’s also about a haunted writer who can’t shake his past sins. The new frightener THE LODGE also comes with dual themes: its A theme concerns family safety in a snowbound cottage. The B theme is all about horrible parenting.
And that secondary strain announces itself from the opening moment. Laura (Alicia Silverstone) tries to put on a happy face, literally and figuratively, as she prepares to drop her children off with her estranged husband for the weekend. Yet as she applies the lipstick, her mouth droops and the tear ducts gush open. Her angst is so apparent as she frustratingly attempts to reapply her lipstick in the car, it puts her children Aidan (Jaeden Martell) and Mia (Lia McHugh) in a bad mood instantly. All three arrive at dad’s, sulking and tongue-tied.
Jaeden Martell and Lia McHugh
There, Richard (Richard Armitage) informs Laura that he wants to quickly divorce so he can marry his young, new girlfriend Grace. (This Richard is a dick, and Armitage doesn’t even try to make him reasonably sympathetic.) It’s implied that cheating with Grace broke up their marriage, to begin with, and now he’s adding insult to Laura’s injury. She goes home, pours herself a glass of wine, and promptly blows her brains out.
The children never recover, especially Mia who fears that her mother’s suicide dooms her to hell. Her father does a crappy job of comforting her, but he’s completely self-absorbed it’s no surprise. The insensitive schmuck even wants the kids to go along with his scheme to spend Christmas with Grace up at the family cottage, even though mom’s only been in the ground for a few months.
The film cleverly staves off on the reveal of Grace for almost 15 minutes. We expect her to be a bogeyman by the time she shows up, especially since her backstory is that she was the sole survivor of mass suicide by a religious cult a decade ago. (Shades of the Heaven’s Gate cult where 39 members drank poison ritualistically in 1997.) The kids find the video of the catastrophe online showing a spooky, 13-year-old version of Grace standing amongst the carnage.
Riley Keough
Further adding to Richard’s sins is the fact that Grace was the topic of a story he did on the cult, and he blurred the lines when the professional journalist fell for his subject. When we finally meet the adult Grace (Riley Keough), she’s hardly a Manson girl, but rather, a soft-spoken, shy young woman. She bares a striking resemblance to mom Laura, suggesting that Richard pulled a “John Derek” and replaced his wife with a younger version of her.
Keough, quickly becoming one of the industry’s most interesting young actresses, plays Grace as a mysterious mix of conflicted emotions. She’s in love with Richard, prone to romantic giggles during lovemaking, and she truly wants to bond with his kids too. Grace is aware of that uphill battle but tries to be respectful and friendly, even though the kids want nothing to do with her.
Further complicating matters for her are painful memories of the cult, including some of her father’s hectoring lessons as its religious leader. She’s haunted by a portrait of the Virgin Mary in the cottage because it makes her feel guilty about the cult’s blasphemy of God, her adultery with Richard, and her reliance on prescription meds to get through the day. Fuel is added to her fire when Richard decides to return to the city for a few days of work, leaving Grace to tend to the children all by her lonesome.
Richard Armitage
Grace’s pet pooch isn’t much of an emotional support animal while the kids go out of their way to alienate her. They refuse to help hang holiday decorations, reject her lunch offerings, and openly declare they have nothing to say when she tries to engage in conversation. Further challenging her comfort is Aiden’s spying on her while she showers, not to mention a nasty snowstorm that takes out their generator in the night. It all comes to a head when the next morning Grace discovers all of her belonging are missing, including her meds, not to mention all the food in the fridge and pantry.
Is a thief responsible? Are the kids playing a prank? Or is this some form of self-sabotage on Grace’s part now that she’s off her meds? Whomever to blame, the rift between her and the kids becomes paramount, as they’re snowbound hostages. As one day drags into the next, with no cellphone service for emergency assistance, Grace starts to lose her grip on reality. Her vivid memories and imagination mix together to create a phantasm of fear that would make Edgar Allan Poe proud.
Not surprisingly, this tale of terror, written by Sergio Casci, Veronika Franz, and Severin Fiala, and directed by the latter two, is about the descent into madness. All three inhabitants become unreliable narrators, and we in the audience don’t know whom to trust. Can Grace get a grip? Can she parent these children and keep them safe from the elements and starvation? And why the hell isn’t Richard returning to check up on them knowing full-well that they’ve been incommunicado for days?
Franz and Fiala are superb at creating mood in this atmospheric setting, with an insinuating score helping ratchet up the tension with each new revelation. The scares are honest, with nary a cheap jump scare in sight. They don’t develop the three main characters as vividly as they could but keeping the characters at a certain arms-length helps strengthen the mystery of all that occurs.
Ultimately, the B theme eclipses the A theme and cements the filmmakers’ editorializing on the subject of bad parenting. (It was a similar theme in Franz and Fiala’s acclaimed 2014 Austrian thriller GOODNIGHT MOMMY as well.) Grace should never have been forced to parent these kids alone. Those kids shouldn’t have been forced to spend Christmas with dad’s mistress. And dad shouldn’t think of himself first and last every single time. Often times, the best horror films have man as the monster, no supernatural beast needed. The true villain here isn’t a haunted house, freezing weather, cult activity, or any religious piety. It’s man, specifically, a truly atrocious parent, who lets everything go to hell.

1. kolo I. ligy 19.5.2018 KLADNO
Šárka Hezoučká mrskla 600g klacek 39,24m daleko a Jitka Pagáčová 37,87m. Maximální počet bodů mířil do slávie zásluhou Michaely Treglerové za 42,98m.
Podobně pak pan Machotka a další. To se dá označit pouze slovem netýmové a nesparťanské. Samozřejmě je pochopitelná včasná omluva s pádným argumentem. Avšak hodnotit tyto postupy náleží vedení a snaze pořádat schůze trenérů.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Druhá polovina dne měla přinést týmu SPARTY v obou kategoriích větší přísun bodů a posunout jej tak k umístění v první trojce.
Naše Klára Hubrová dnes neprolomila pětiminutovou hranici a doběhla třetí 5.00,71 a další body přidala Eliška Sojková časem 5.17,36.
Zvítězil výkonem 14.65, když i nyní foukalo pěkně do zad. Další týmové body posbírali Ondřej Hunčovský 13,72m (7b.) a Vít Molva 12,86m (4b.).
Ještě jedna individuální disciplína chyběla, a to disk mužů. Zde Sparta měla tříčlené zastoupení. Nejlépe si v Daňkově otočce vedl kladenský Tomáš Voňavka 59,43m. Z našich druhé místo o parník před ostatními Tomáš Jokl za 51,87m. Jakub Voplakal (40,33m) získal tři a Tomáš Pešťák (39,59) jeden bod.
Další slušný bodový příděl a zbývaly pouze štafety.
4x 100m mužů ovládla sparťanská ve složení Pechar, Řezníček, Hampel, Jánský (43,23). Skalp Kladna potěší. I béčková bodovala slušně (Seidl, Baše, Černík, Lumpe) 45,70 a pět bodů.
Oddíly A.C. Sparta Praha se umístily shodně na 2. místě. V mužích za Kladnem a v ženách za Slávií. V mužích jsme předčili Domažlice o pouhých 1,5 bodu. Naštěstí tak nenastoupená štafeta nemá hořkou pachuť.
THIS IS SPARTA !!!
