Sneak peek below the cut line:
From the Military Notes of Ishida Mitsunari…
Diversion: The act of drawing the attention and forces of an enemy from the point of the principal operation; an attack, alarm, or feint that directs attention elsewhere. Two: a change made in a prescribed route for operational or tactical reasons. A diversion order will not constitute a change of destination. Three: a rerouting of cargo or passengers to a new point or destination or on a different mode of transportation prior to arrival at ultimate destination.
Personal comments: I have the worrisome notion that there is something important I have forgotten. Also, it seems I have misplaced my cat. Am more concerned about the latter, as if it is the former, someone will inevitably remind me.
-----
If I were writing up a society puff piece for a newspaper about my “engagement” party, I would likely write that the food, prepared by Date Masamune, was excellent. The article would note that the entertainment, in the form of Hideyoshi and Mitsuhide’s bickering was… a choice. The bride-to-be wore a pale lavender kimono embroidered with sakura blossoms, with matching sakura blossoms pinned to her hair. And the groom-to-be was… a no show.
I’d been left at the altar by my fake fiancé.
While Hideyoshi and Mitsuhide went out in search of him, Masamune stayed behind to encourage me to eat my feelings. “Here, what do you think of this?” He poked a chopstick full of steamed eel toward my mouth.

I have nail polish that changes color when my hands are cold and I'm realizing how cute it would be for someone to notice my hands are cold and hold them except it's in the 90's right now and I'm so very lonely, so let's just imagine
Notices the change in color, asks about it, then uses it every chance they get:
Shingen: makes it his mission to keep your hands on the warm color, claims he sees the color starting so subtly change when in fact it is not changing. Big fan of kissing the nails to change their color, eye contact prederable.
Mistuhide: obviously anything he knows can and will be used against you there will be teasing, but he actually likes the descretness of it too. You don't have to ask him to warm your hands and he doesn't have to ask if your hands are cold.
Masamune: thinks it's very cool, would rather you ask, but he won't complain about an excuse to hold your hand and I do men excuse. Regardless of what color your nails are he will definitly hold you hand and say they were changing color when called on being handsy
Hideyoshi: loves that there is a visual indicator for (what he believes is) one of your needs. Doesn't just hold your hands he takes both of them in his and blows on them gently. It's so sweet your get a toothache
Notices, but is mostly just intrigued on how it works, you have to tell them they were supposed to hold your hand:
Sasuke: wants to know the chemical reaction causing the change. Compliments the colors. Once told his role he gives a salute and dutifully keeps your hands warm when they are not.
Nobunaga: gets two bowls on with warm water the other with cool. Spends some time testing them between each bowl until they both reach ambient temperature. Puffs up with pride when you tell him he's supposed to hold your hand when the color indicates cool. Oh, yes that he can do.
Yoshimoto: inspects them very closely, wants the same color. (He would be a nail art lover for sure) ((to be honest I don't know his character that well I just know this is so far up his ally its in his kitchen))
Doesn't notice, you have to tell them, tells you that you should just say when your hands are cold (pays attention anyway):
Yukimura: everything is witchcraft with this boy. You should just tell him he isn't always going to notice something like cosmetics, always seems to notice. Likes having non romantic excuse to hold your hands. Will also hold both you hands in his and blow on them.
Kenshin: how foolish, if your hands are cold just tell him. What if he hadn't noticed, and your fingers fell off, no he's not being dramatic, its slightly chilly. He's a fingertip kisser prove me wrong.
Mitsunari: very oblivious, but as soon as he knows he checks about every time he sees you. Likes to hols a hand while he reads, occasionally bringing your hand up for a kiss. Helps him stay grounded in reality so that he remembers to drink water. It's hard to be cold around a pocket of sunshine
Iyasu: if your cold you should say something he doesn't have time to play color swap guessing games. Constantly sneaking a look at your nails. Holds your hands under his chin to warm them, no he's not being sweet, that's just the fastest way because of bloodflow, it's medicine, no he's no blushing.

The announcement
Telling Mitsunari he was going to be a father was…a mess. To say the least.
It was during a rather small feast held at the war council celebrating the latest Alliance between the Oda forces and a daimyo who stood on neutral ground during the war.
You had been eating to your heart's content, happy to fill yourself with all the delicious food now that you were eating for two.
But you were waiting for the right moment to tell Mitsunari about the great news.
Until the moment people started pouring drinks. Particularly Nobunaga who had you stand next to him to give you credit for still granting him luck even in your position as Lady Ishida.
You filled his cup while he chatted with you about menial things until he grabbed the pitcher to fill your cup that had been filled with water and tea until now.
You shook your head, politely declining but Nobu as he was asked “Oh, are you denying me a drink?”
The mess came when your lady-in-waiting knelt at the feet of the dais after noticing Nobunaga’s insistence, bowing deeply in worry.
“I beg you, Lord Nobunaga. My lady is expecting, and sake will harm the baby!”
The room fell into deep silence.
Then burst with loud noise, you not knowing who was really saying what as people laughed, sang cheers, and started congratulating you and your clueless husband who was probably about to faint at how deeply he was focusing on you.
Hideyoshi was both interrogating Mitsunari and you while taking the cup away, Nobunaga was having the time of his life watching the mess around, and Masamune decided it was time to whip more food out to ensure you ate to your heart's content. Ieyasu stood dumbfounded at how on earth you and the airhead (his own words) were having a kid.
You and Mitsunari had to retire after a long time of accepting congratulations, not having a moment alone to speak until you were in your private quarters.
The moment you were in the solitude of your room, he wrapped his arms around you from behind, breathing in the scent of your hair, laying his hands on your tummy.
When you turned around to look at his face, you saw all feelings of inner conflict.
He gently explained himself, not wanting you to think that he was unhappy about you and him having a kid, but more about his worries about parenthood. But in fact, he was elated about the news.
In his mind he could see himself having a family with you, he didn’t think the moment would arrive so soon.
The night ended with the promise of a bright future and new worries ahead, yet the happiness wasn’t lacking.
During the pregnancy:
Goodness, pregnancy is a ride with him.
From sleeping in until late morning and having the maids or sometimes, even Hideyoshi scold you both awake, from Kitty hissing at him whenever he came too close when she was laying on your lap, from him spilling tea everywhere after offering to make a cup for you to clear the aftertaste of your morning sickness.
Mitsunari is a well-read man, but he can’t find any text that can tell him what to expect once your child arrives so guess what he does?
He goes to seek the answers with Ieyasu.
Who keeps avoiding him like the plague.
“What am I? A babysitter? I’m a war medic, I don’t deal with children.”
“But I can’t leave your idiotic mess to care for a kid.”
You find Ieyasu, who is looking more irritated than you have ever seen him, explaining to Mitsunari about the basics of caring for a newborn: hygiene, common illnesses and conditions, and other things you’d classify as “old wives’ tales” with your knowledge from the future.
By the third trimester Mitsunari sticks to you like glue, not parting from your side in case you need help.
Your water breaks when he is reading a very long report and while you were sewing tiny clothes. It’s pretty much painless, and you are glad because Mitsunari has been focused on the report for hours and he is not halfway through it, so it gives you an opportunity to calmly “wake him up” from his trance.
You see his face pale at the sight, he clears his throat and puts everything aside to aid you, getting as serious as he gets on important task or even at the battlefield.
This man deadass drafted a plan on how to act when you were about to give birth, he has it perfectly memorized like a war strategy.
From the room you give birth in, equipped with all the commodities, from the most loyal of servants and physicians to help you along.
You basically see an army play out, but instead of charging into the flames of war, everyone is just making sure you deliver a healthy child while making you comfortable.
Mitsunari absolutely thinks of everything.
Except the fact that the very stubborn midwife keeps him out of the room, where he is forced to sit outside of, waiting.
The moment he hears you whimper and yelling in pain he is at the door, commanding to be let in to see that you are alright, but he doesn’t get an answer but the loud noises coming from inside the room.
Kitty keeps him company during his wait, staring hard at the door just as he is doing. Too focused on the closed door that he doesn’t register the tiny cries from inside the room.
After a long while, Kitty meows as the door slides open, the maids exiting the room while carrying the dirty bedsheets.  Those maids you befriended looking tired, yet they smile with satisfaction.
He hurries inside the room, only to find you in bed, chest exposed while a smaller figure lays against your skin.
Raising a tiny human:
Now as an actual parent, Mitsunari likes the routines. His inner clock somehow always tells him when it's time for the baby to nap, to be fed, or to be changed. It’s a nice way to control how he spends his days, ensuring he is not overworking himself while also doing his job as the father of the child.
Now, what he doesn’t enjoy is how unpredictable children are.
One time, when your child was starting to crawl around, grabbing everything within their grasp, Mitsunari found himself reading an important letter.
By the time he had finished reading it, which was less than a few minutes, the child had somehow knocked the ink from his desk, spilling the contents on the tatami mats and on his own clothes.
He didn’t even notice.
It’s fun though, watching Mitsunari, the love of your life to whom you had grown closer by taking care of him and his routine, doing the same to the little child you had made together.
He loves to hold them while he works, usually on his chest.
He even asks you if you can sew him a little something so he can strap the child to his chest while he works!
Kitty does not enjoy having her tail pulled at though, yet she grows fond of the tiny creature enough that you once find her curled up on your child’s crib next to them, both soundly asleep.
Mitsunari is protective, and he takes on an active role as a parent.
You understand this, as he was left at a temple without parents to care for him and he is doing the opposite, holding onto your child to grant them all the love he lacked.
You are proud of your husband for being more centered after realizing how much of a mess having a child was.
Now you are left to worry about if your child will be as clueless as Mitsunari once was.
Not that you would love them any less.

"I Do, My Love!"- Mitsunari Epilogue
Alright, here is the final piece to our sweet cinnamon roll's wedding event! I hope you all enjoy!
It had been ten years since our wedding and many things had changed. Mitsunari had earned his own land and a castle was constructed for us to live in. Though we generally stayed close to Hideyoshi and Nobunaga, as Mitsunari was the lead strategist of the Oda forces and now that we had united the country, a vital member of the council. So, we generally stayed close by Osaka Castle.
I was standing in the kitchen of our home, working on lunch, when I heard familiar footsteps. “Mama, do you need help?”
I turned to smile at Yasu, our son (Mitsunari had wanted to name him after Ieyasu even just in part…much to Ieyasu’s annoyance). “I’m just finishing up.” I replied. “But you are always welcome to help. Where is Himari?”
“She’s with Papa in their study room…again.” Yasu answered.
“Absorbed in their books again?” I asked.
Yasu nodded. “Yes. I can’t even tempt her with her favorite game or Kitty.”
“Well, we’ll just have to get them to come back to Earth and enjoy our meal together as a family.” I replied.
“As we always do…I am NOT feeding her like Uncle Hideyoshi used to do for Papa.” Yasu said, though I knew he would if he couldn’t get Himari’s attention.
I finished up our food and then Yasu and I  were taking the trays to the study, where Mitsunari and Himari were. Though Yasu was the younger of our two children, he was always helping me to take care of his big sister…since she was SO much like her father. She even looked like Mitsunari, while Yasu favored me, though he still had Mitsunari’s eyes.
When we arrived into the study, we found Mitsunari and Himari sitting beside each other, their eyes locked on the books they held in their hands. “Mitsunari, Himari, time for lunch.” I said as we came in, though neither of them moved or even seemed to take notice as we sat the trays down.
Yasu sighed. “You get Papa and I’ll get Himari.”
We were then moving, I took the book from Mitsunari while Yasu took Himari’s book. Father and daughter both took a moment to realize their books had been taken from them before looking up. “Oh, Ava, Yasu, when did you get in here?” Mitsunari asked, smiling his usual angelic smile at us.
“Is it lunch time, already Mama?” Himari asked, looking up at me.
I nodded. “Yes it is, and we just walked in.” I answered both of them. “Now, come on, let’s all eat together.”
We were all sitting down then, Himari was reaching for the tea pot, but Yasu quickly stopped her. “No, I’ve got it.” He said, knowing how clumsy she was…just like Mitsunari.
“I can do it.” Himari replied. “Let me get you tea for once.”
“No, I like helping.” Yasu told her gently. He was then pouring the tea for both of them and for Mitsunari and I as well.
“You’re such a good brother.” I whispered to Yasu, patting his head.
“This looks quite delicious.” Mitsunari commented. “Though…do I see…carrots?”
“They’re good for you and I did cut them into hearts again.” I replied.
“They are better that way.” Mitsunari replied, though he still wasn’t necessarily a big fan.
“Do I have to eat them, mama?” Yasu asked, this was one of the areas where he DID take after Mitsunari.
“I put lots of love into them.” I replied.
“It’s just carrots.” Himari said, plucking them up with her chopsticks and eating them.
Yasu nodded and then ate the carrots…though reluctantly. We sat together, eating and chatting, enjoying the meal. Once we had finished and cleaned up, I declared that I thought it was time for MItsunari and Himari to take a break. “Come on, let’s go for a walk in the garden.” I suggested.
“We do need to get some exercise and sunshine and fresh air.” Mitsunari agreed.
The four of us were heading outside, Mitsunari and I holding hands as Yasu and Himari ran ahead of us. Yasu got Himari into playing tag as they ran out into the garden. “I am glad they can always find a way to have fun.” Mitsunari said, smiling as we watched our children play.
I nodded. “Yes, every day is an adventure for them.”
Mitsunari opened his mouth, ready to say something when Himari ran up to him and touched him on the arm. “Tag, Papa! You’re it!” She declared, giggling before running off.
“Well, it looks like we’re playing too.” Mitsunari said, smiling at me.
“We’re? I guess that means I’d better run.” I said with a laugh before letting go of his hand and running off.
We played with the children till dinner time, laughing and smiling as we did. After dinner, we began our bedtime routines. I gave Yasu and Himari their baths before leading them to their room. Mitsunari was already waiting beside their futon, a book in hand.
“Are you going to read to us, Papa?” Himari asked, smiling brightly.
Mitsunari nodded. “Of course.” He answered. “But you need to get under the covers first.”
Himari and Yasu were climbing into the futon. I tucked them in and settled down beside Mitsunari as he opened the book and put on his glasses. He then began to read aloud from the book. It had taken him some time to get used to reading aloud to the children like this, but he had started to do very well with it and even worked on changing his voice as dialogue or thoughts were changed between characters.
The only problem was, Mitsunari would get absorbed into the book and read well past when the children had fallen asleep. So, I still had to pull him back to reality. When their eyelids had grown too heavy and their breathing had steadied into that peaceful rhythm of sleep, I was gently nudging Mitsunari and kissing him gently on the cheek.
Mitsunari took a moment before turning from the book to look at me and then at our children. “They’ve fallen asleep.” He said, smiling.
I nodded. “Shall we head for our room?” I asked.
“I think I’d like that very much.” Mitsunari replied, shutting the book and putting it away before rising and holding his hand out to me.
I gladly placed my hand in his and allowed him to help pull me up. We both gave one last look to Himari and Yasu, sleeping peacefully and Kitty resting in bed with them (she was a senior Kitty now, but she was great with the children and they loved her).
Once we were in our room, we began getting ready for bed. I had just finished tying my kimono closed when I felt Mitsunari’s arms wrap around me from behind and his chin resting on my shoulder. “Thank you, Ava.” He said, kissing my cheek as he continued to hold me.
I smiled happily. “What for?” I asked.
“For everything you do for me.” He answered. “And for giving me a happiness I never thought I would experience…your love is a gift…and so are the children. I never thought I could be a good father…I’ve never been particularly good with children…but with you by my side…I’ve done better than I thought I would.”
“You are an amazing husband and father, Mitsunari.” I told him, smiling. “Himari, Yasu, and I are all lucky to have you.”
“I am the lucky one to have all of you.” Mitsunari replied. “And especially you, Ava. You have made me a better man…and a father.”
“Those children still wouldn’t be here without you, my love. We made them together.” I reminded him. “I love you, Mitsunari and I love our life.”
Mitsunari smiled warmly at me as he kissed me gently on the lips. “I love you, Ava and I am happy…truly happy.”
“And I plan to keep making you happy for the rest of our lives.”
“As long as my dream continues, I will be happy.”
“You mean…the one…”
“The one where I can create a world where you will always smile.”
“Oh, Mitsunari…” I was turning in his arms, throwing my own around him. I pressed my lips to his in an enthusiastic kiss.
Mitsunari smiled into the kiss as he held me tighter. I truly loved this wonderful man and the life we had built together. And I knew it would stay that way for the rest of our lives.

Ikemen Sengoku: What-If Collection Event - Warlord Pets
Tumblr media
(Don't mind the photo) I wrote this fanfiction for fun where the warlords turn into their animal mascots. Since there wasn’t much spotlight for their beloved pets I thought I would write about them in a What-If Collection Event for April Fool’s Day on April 1st. Since the increase of the IkeSen roster I decided to take the time to add the additional six characters. So a total of all seventeen men in the IkeSen roster.
THE HERD PART 1
It was a pleasant evening like any other evening. Tomorrow everyone from the Usugi-Takeda forces along with Kennyo, Motonari & Kicho were going to visit Azuchi. Sasuke already visited me two days ago since Kenshin wanted to visit me. I thought we would all try something that will get everyone working together…or at least trying to. I already had some ideas but Sasuke hasn’t visited me to discuss it over with him. Maybe we’ll talk tomorrow.
“Ah the moon is so beautiful this evening; it would be nice to watch it with everyone. Time for bed.”
By the next morning I was the first in the war council room. Usually everyone would be here or I would be informed to show up but no one was here until the sliding door opened. I sat up straight but instead I got pounced.
“Oof! What in the world?”
It was then I felt something wet on my face. When I lifted up whatever was on top of me and tried to see who or what it was.
A TIGER?! SHOGETSU?!
“You were supposed to be at the manor with Masamune, what in the world are you doing here!? I better return you back to the manor as soon as possible or else Hideyoshi is going to blow a blood vessel.”
But the tiger was not the only animal that was in war council a whole colossal of animals flooded into the room. I didn’t even realize there was a monkey trying to attack the tiger that I was holding.
OH NO! Please no fighting!
I decided to stand up and try to reach for the monkey that was clinging to the back side of my kimono. But then I felt a nudge almost making me fall over. The perpetrator was a deer.
“OH GREAT! NOW IEYASU’S DEER WASABI!”
Circling around my ankle was a cat meowing and purring as if the fiasco I was in the middle of didn’t exist.
What is with all these animals? Something really isn’t right. The monkey on my back let out a yelp as it let go of my back who was trying to reach for the tiger. Now the monkey was flicking his tail that was sadly bitten by a fox. When the fox let go the monkey started chasing the fox. I better stop them.
I was so distracted by the chase I tripped over the cat and planted face first on the floor. A heard a soft snort and a boop from my cheek from a pig snout. What a mess. All of the Azuchi warlord pets are running amuck. I wonder why. I then heard the pig squeal as he ran off into a different direction being chased by something.
When I realized what happened I noticed a wolf chasing the poor piggy. On the wolf’s back was a squirrel. And behind them was a bear with a bunny and a hamster on its back chasing the other animals across the room.
Just when the wolf and bear were chasing after the pig and cat they nearly knocked over a jar. The peacock that flashed its feathers blocked their direction to the beautiful jar as if protecting something precious spooking any nearby it away.
I decided to try and chase after the animals stopping them from chasing each other around the room but it only made matters worse as the wolf started to fly into the air by a wallaby. A parrot flying overhead was shaking his head as the wolf collapsed on the ground after being air born by the wallaby’s kick.
The war council was in such disarray as animals were fighting among each other until I heard a loud scream that stopped the infighting and set all the animals on alert. They looked up and saw a hawk that was swarming around a lot more higher then the parrot. The hawk seated itself where Nobunaga would sit. Soon the animals that were most likely warlords from Azuchi began to position themselves in their spots. Now if I didn’t know better these were the warlords. How would they know to position themselves like their owners would sit. The parrot then landed just inches away from the hawk.
“Finally…now that they have settled down we can finally get down to business.” The parrot spoke.
I looked at the parrot who spoke and truly it sounded like Kicho and not Fuka. It was unbelievable. There was no way.
“N-no way…Kicho? Is that you?” I can’t believe I’m speaking to Kicho the parrot. Interesting ring to it if I do say so myself.
“Yes. It seems I’m the only one who can talk. Unlike the others. I don’t know what or how this happened. From the looks of it we all woke up this way.”
