Another part of finding differences between polish and english dub of ninjago! As promised, today I'm dissecting the first season!
But before we get to that, some language quirks that may need to be explained:
Diminutive and Augmentative.
Diminutive (or in short DIM) is used to change the word, to express different meanings. You use it to point out somethings small size or your affection and tenderness towards it; often used to create pet names and nicknames (think cat → kitty, mom → mommy, Charles → Charlie). Sometimes used as an insult, usually in sarcasting light.
Augmentative (in short AUG) is the opposite of that: used to point out bigger size, dislike, make an insult or a joke. It usually has negative emotions attached to it. There are few exceptions, but those mostly rely on context.
For simplicities sake, DIM → affectionate; small. AUG → insulting; big. Keep these in mind, as they'll be popping up in here and in the future.
Previous Masterpost Next
With that out of the way, let's begin!
Rise of the Snakes | Rok węży (Year of the snakes)
I've wondered for some time why this change was made, and the only conclusion I came up with is that translating 'Rise', would remind people of things like uprisings or revolutions. That being said, I don't mind this change.
1. Rise of the Snakes | Atak Węży (Attack of the Snakes)
• In english the word 'prophecy' is being explained, but in polish the ”fancier” synonym of prophecy is used (proroctwo), and the explanation is basically 'this word means prophecy' (przepowiednia).
• Jay: "Did I say Green Ninja? I meant lean ninja!" → "Miałem na myśli strapiony ninja!" (I meant distressed ninja!)
• Jay: "Nya, you're okay!" → "Nya, ty żyjesz!" (You're alive!)
2. Home | Dom
• Kai: "You mean you never had a home?" → "Nie masz domu?" (You don't have a home?) What's also interesting here is that in polish is there's no difference between home and house. So you could understand it as "You don't have a house?" and it wouldn't be wrong.
• Cuckoo bird is translation to 'Głuptak' (Northern gannet). In polish its name is a combination of 'stupid' (głupi) and 'bird' (ptak).
• Slither Pit is translated to 'Abyss of the Fangs' (Otchłań Kłów)
• Fang-kwondo → Tae-kły-ndo (Kły - fangs) I think it's an amazing pun, as only one vowel is changed from the original word ('ł' is pronounced the same way english 'w' is, so the only change is 'o' → 'y').
3. Snakebit | Ukąszeni ([they were] Bitten)
Edit: While checking something I noticed the title I've noted here, is not the only title used, as some sources (like Wikipedia) state the name of the episode as 'Ukąszenie' (The Bite). The title that is read in the episode is 'Ukąszeni', and sites like polish Ninjago Wiki or Dubbingpedia use it (curiously enough, when I checked the DVD the name that was displayed was 'Ukąszeni', while the DVD cover used 'Ukąszenie'). That's either a later translation change that didn't get corrected, or a simple spelling error. One letter and so much confusion!
• Fangpyre is translated to Żmijampir ('Żmija' - viper, '-ampir' is from polish for vampire, 'wampir') Don't get attached to the name though.
• Lloyd calls himself "the rightful ruler of Serpentine".
• "Fangpyre bit off more than we can chew." → "Żmijampiry najpierw gryzą, a potem myślą." (Fangpyre first bite, then they think.)
• When the ninja get new vehicles, Cole says this about Rocky: "I think he just got replaced." In polish it's "Chyba już za nim nie tęsknię." (I don't think I miss him anymore)
4. Never Trust a Snake | Nie ufaj wężom (Don't trust the snakes)
• Constrictai → Dusiciele. Dusiciel literally means Strangler or Constrictor.
• Venomari → Jadozęby (Jad - venom, zęby - teeth)
• Pythor P. Chumsworth → Pyton P. Przyjazny (Python P. Friendly) don't get used to that one either.
• Fangpyre are called Wężampiry here ("Węż" - is taken from the adjective form of "snake"[wężowy], or from plural form [węże])
5. Can of Worms | Węże na wolności (Snakes at large)
this episode has taken most space in my notebook!
• Lloyd: "Saw Cole beat your high score. You should have seen it. It was pretty spectacular." → "Wujek Cole pobił twój rekord. Grał fantastycznie i o wiele lepiej od ciebie." (Uncle Cole beat your high score. He played fantastically and way better than you.)
Look babe, a new headcanon just dropped— Honestly I was so surprised by the 'uncle' that i replayed the line a few times to make sure I heard it right. And it's clearly there. After the initial surprise, I started to wonder where that translation could've come from, and the only idea I had was that the translator had mixed up Cole for Wu. But who knows? Maybe it was intentional? I certainly don't mind it.
• When Kai says that Lloyd must've seen Cole play the Sitar Legend, the name of the game is changed to Solitaire. I understand the need for change, as I don't think that many people would have caught the Guitar Hero reference, but I can't help but wish the name had stayed, if only for it being a subtle hint of Cole's past, and the fact that Zane later uses Sitar Legend poster for camouflage.
• When Jay asks when will Wu teach them to paralyze the enemy with one finger, it's changed to paralyze with gaze
• 'Pyton' is changed to 'Pytor'. There are few instances in this and later episodes where the 'Pythor' (with english pronounciation) is used.
• Fangpyre are now 'Wężowampiry'. This one stays. Personally I prefer 'Żmijampiry', but that might be because as a child I had the first four episodes on DVD, and simply got more attached to this one.
• Pinky → Świnka (Piggy; DIM of Pig)
• When Zane addresses the Samurai on the Toxic Bogs, he refers to 'him' as 'Mysterious Warrior', but in polish dub it's changed to 'Dark Samurai'. I don't think it's a good decision, as the later scene is about explaining who Samurais are, and starts with the rest of the ninja not knowing how to call 'him'.
• The Great Devourer is translated to "The Devourer of the Worlds" (Pożeracz Światów) I think it's a good decision, given that the literal translation of GD would sound kinda... lame in polish? Idk maybe it's just me/childhood nostalgia.
• Ninjago City is often referred to as the capital of Ninjago throughout the series, with sometimes being just Ninjago City (not translated), or in case of Rebooted - New Ninjago City (with only 'new' being translated).
• The popsicle stand joke isn't present. It's just "zostawmy ich w tyle" (let's leave them behind), which I wouldn't mind, if not for the fact that there's a perfect opportunity for a joke that is missed - in polish there's an idiom "zostawić kogoś na lodzie" (leave someone on ice) and like. it's right there.
• In english Lloyd says he did twenty laundry loads, but in polish he did ten. This is most likely due of the number of syllables the words have: twenty in polish has three (dwa-dzie-ścia), and ten has two syllables (dzie-sięć).
6. The Snake King | Król Węży (King of the Snakes)
• The Great Devourer is translated literally- Wielki Pożeracz. This is the only example of this happening in the polish dub.
• Not really translation issue, but when Skales is talking to the Serpentine behind the arcade, he's clearly voiced by a different person? And when he's walking to the bus it's back to normal. It's weird.
• Pythor refers to the GD as "the ruler of us all" (Władca nas wszystkich)
• Wu called Lloyd "siostrzeniec" (nephew).
Now, you might wonder: ‘what's wrong with that?’ The thing is, in polish there are two ways to address nephew/niece: if it's your sister's child, it's siostrzeniec/siostrzenica; if your brother's - bratanek/bratanica.
To be fair siostrzeniec/siostrzenica is a bit more popular version to use, and I've heard some people refer to their brother's child like that, or vice versa. Heck, it's sometimes treated as a general term, and translators tend to use it when it's unclear what the family connection is.
But.
Throughout the series Wu has always used 'bratanek' to address Lloyd. I'd probably have less problem with it if Lloyd was established as 'siostrzeniec' from the start, but I'll be lying if I said i wasn't paying special attention to catch this potential slip-up.
In the end you can write it off as just a translation inconsistency/error, or if you're feeling nitpicky: Wu just called Garmadon his sister.
• Jay calls the GD a "deity".
• "Iron sharpens iron, sibling sharpens sibling" → "Żelazo kuje żelazo, a rodzeństwo się wspiera." (Iron forges iron, and siblings support each other).
7. Tick-Tock | Czas ucieka (Time's running out)
• "The guy's inhuman!" →"On chyba ma skrzela!" (I think he has gills!) Not to be mean, but the translator might've missed the point
• Kai called the Falcon "Durne ptaszysko" (Dumb bird; with AUG of bird being used here). Kai refers to the Falcon as "ptaszysko" a few times in various episodes.
• Treehorn → Drzewozwierzę (Drzewo - Tree; Zwierzę - Animal)
• Mystaké's "Never heard of it" → "Nie wiem o czym mowa" (I don't know what you're talking about). I'm putting it here, as it's Mystaké's catch-phrase, and for future reference regarding translations.
• Nindroid is changed to Ninjadroid. In later seasons both versions tend to be used, with Nindroid dominating as the seasons progress.
8. Once bitten twice shy | Spotkanie z wężem (A meeting with a snake)
• Garmadon: "What has Lloyd gotten himself into?" → "W jakie tarapaty tym razem się wpakował?" (What trouble has he gotten himself into this time?) Suggesting that Garmadon had been in contact with Lloyd, or at the very least have been keeping tabs on him.
• Cole, when referring to Jay "Mr. Fancy" → "Panie Ładny" (Mr. Pretty)
• In polish dub Wu says that Lloyd opened all five tombs.
• Garmadon (about Lloyd wanting to be evil): "I never wanted him to." → "Szkoda, że tego nie uniknął." (It's a pity he hasn't mananged to avoided it)
• Kai: "Not so fast!" → "Rcę do góry!" (Hands up!) I'm mentioning it only because in season 8 there's a callback to this line.
9. The Royal Blacksmiths | Kowale melodii (Blacksmiths of melody)
• Kai when talking to Zane: Mr. Roboto → Panie Tosterze (Mr. Toaster)
• When Jay mispronounces the name of the school Cole went to, he says "Instytut Pieśni i Grzańca" (Institute of Song and Mulled Wine)
10. The Green Ninja | Zielony Ninja
• When the Ninja talk to Wu about True Potentials, he says "Have you now?" In polish it's "Nie żartujesz?" (No kidding?)
• Garmadon (to Kai): "So, we meet again." → "Witaj. Dobrze Cię widzieć." (Hello. Good to see you.)
• "Get ready to get Kai'd!" → "Po-kai-asz się przed Kaiem!" I can't really tell what verb is 'kai' replacing ('po' is often added to verbs, and "asz" is added to the second singular person in present tense), my best guess is "You tremble before Kai!" or something along the lines.
Edit: as @imma-ben pointed out, the verb I was looking for is "pokajać się" (to confess remorsefully). Thanks for the correction!
• Garmadon refers to Lloyd as "Synku" (DIM of Son) a few times.
11. All of Nothing | Wszystko i nic (Everything and Nothing)
• Kai: "Jay and Nya rejiggered the design." → "Jay i ja przerobiliśmy pancerz." (Jay and I redid the suit.) I had a bit of problem with this one because in polish 'i ja' (and I) sounds exactly like Nya, but without an 'N'. I replayed this line a bunch of times, even asked my brothers what they hear, and we all agreed it said 'i ja'. Though I don't rule out the possibilty of it just being some audio problem.
• Lloyd: "You left me for so long." → "Zostawiłeś mnie całkiem samego." (You left me all alone.)
• Lloyd: "We don't want your help, and we don't need you here." → "Nie chcę twojej pomocy i nie chcę żebyś był tu z nami." (I don't want your help, and I don't want you to be here with us.) Lloyd also often adds 'to us' when talking about/to Garmadon (you came back! → you came back to us!)
• Lloyd: "My dad's going back to where he came from." → "Mój tata wrócił do krainy ciemności." (My dad came back to the realm of darkness.) Is this realm of darkness supposed to be the Realm of Madness? Another translation of Underworld? Who knows!
• Vengestone isn't really translated. It's just "a special material, that blocks our elemental power".
• Kai: "Now, we quietly do a little ball and chain." → "Teraz, pora po cichu pobawić się w Tarzana." (Now, it's time to quietly play Tarzan) Besides the obvious Disney reference, Tarzan in Poland is also the name of a popular backyard game: you find the right tree branch, with free spaces under it. You tie a long, steady line around the branch, so it's hanging above the ground, and you leave a loop at the end of the line. You either use a chair, a different branch, or whatever else to jump off it and catch the line and you start to swing. Or you walk in to the loop so it's around you (around the torso-butt level), you start to run around, and when you've gathered enough speed, you jump, and you start to circle around with your feet off the ground. Or you sit in it, with your feet already off the ground, and someone else pushes you until you're fast enough to swing on your own. It's really fun.
12. The Rise of the Great Devourer | Przebudzenie Pożeracza Światów (The Awakening of the Devourer of the Worlds)
• Kai says "The Fangblades are made from the orginial teeth of the Devourer." "Ostrza wykonano z zębów pierwszego Pożeracza." (The Blades were made from the teeth of the first Devourer.) That suggests that there was more than one Devourer.
• Jay: "Don't let go!"
Kai: "You think I don't know that?" → "Myślisz, że chciałem Cię puścić?" (You think I wanted to let you go?)
• Pythor: "For I have awakened you!"→ "Gdyż to ja obudziłem Cię ze snu stuleci!" (For I have awakened you from centuries-long dream!)
13. The Day of the Great Devourer | Dzień Pożeracza Światów
• 'Take Back Ninjago' is translated to 'Obrońcy Ninjago' (Protectors of Ninjago)
And that's it for season 1! At the time of writing this, this one takes the most space in my notebook (I'm starting season 4), with total of six A5 pages (keep in mind that not every single note I made gets here. Sometimes I combine them into one paragrath (like with inconsistencies), or decide they're not worth mentioning after all.) The Pilots took only two pages.
Next up is Legacy of the Green Ninja, which I may or may not combine with Rebooted, given how little notes I've taken for season 3.

What do you do, when you have nothing to do the whole summer?
You rewatch ninjago in your native language and look for differences in translation, and note the most drastic ones, the ones that add new implications, translation trivia or mistakes/inconsistencies, and other interesting changes, of course!
And just so we're on the same page: me pointing something out doesn't necessarily mean that the translation is bad. (I'm adding this because i've seen so many people look at any kind of divirgence from original and call it a bad translation, when it's way more complex than that, especially when it comes to translating cartoons).
Masterpost Next
Now, with this out of the way, let's begin, shall we?
Pilots
Honestly the Pilots don't really have that many changes given their short run-time, but there are still a few worth noting.
1. Way of the Ninja | Tajemnice Ninja (Secrets of the Ninja)
• "The shop's called Four Weapons, not for browsing." The 'not for browsing' part had to be changed as the pun wouldn't make any sense in polish. It was changed to 'It's a shop, not an almshouse for passerbys.'
• The Underworld is translated to Kingdom of Shadows (Królestwo Cieni), but Realm of the Shadows (Kraina Cieni) is used more often later.
• The Four Weapons of Spinjitzu are sometimes referred to as the Four Magic Weapons.
• The Ninjago realm is often referred to as 'the realm of the living' (which the later seasons kind of contradict, as there's more than one realm with alive people in it. Though you could argue that it's used to differentiate between Underworld, which before the Deprated and Cursed Realm were introduced, was the only known realm of the dead.)
2. Golden Weapons | Złota Broń (Golden Weapon)
(Yep, Poland was one of those countries that used the four episode format for the pilots)
• Instead of 'Three Blind Mice' being listed as an example of trios, the 'Magi' are used ('Trzej Królowie'; literally three kings. Yeah, the ones from the bible), as no one here would know who the Three Blind Mice are.
• After getting the new outfits, Jay exclaims "Look what color I am!". In polish he says "Ło, ale jestem ładny!" (Whoa, I'm so pretty!)
• "Does she like blue?" is changed to "Ma niebieskie oczy?" (Does she have blue eyes?)
3. King of Shadows | Władca Cieni (Ruler of the Shadows)
• After Garmadon says 'Tick-Tock, Tick- Tock' there's an added line - "Time's running out". Now, normally I wouldn't see it as something worth mentioning, but what's interesting here is that the season 1 episode 'Tick-Tock' was translated to 'Time's Running Out'. While I highly doubt that was intentional, I think it's a fun thing to point out.
• You know how in later seasons the 'Sensei' title was switched to 'Master' ? Well in polish they use both forms (with 'Sensei' being more used), and this is the first time 'Master' is used in this context.
4. Weapons of Destiny | Broń Przeznaczenia (Weapon of Destiny) (did the translators have something against the plural form? /j)
• Nya says that the dragons travel between "the realm of the living and the realm of the shadows" in a way that suggests they're able to travel only between these two. As we know, it got debunked in later seasons.
• Kai compares the dragon to a kitten.
• When Jay says "Yes!" after Nya says blue is her favorite color, he says it as if he's voice was back to normal. His voice is still broken in the next scene with him speaking.
• Ninja trying to guess that Jay is saying Tornado of Creation (Tornado Kreacji):
Cole: Chcesz długich wakacji? (You want a long vacation?)
Zane: Nigdy nie przyznasz mi racji? (You'll never admit I'm right?)
Kai: Nienawidzisz akacji? (You hate acacia?)
• Kai:"This is Sensei's fight." → "Sensei da sobie radę." (Sensei can manage.)
• Garmadon: "You were always father's favorite." → "Ojciec zawsze kochał cię bardziej." (Father always loved you more.)
And that's all from the Pilots. The mini-movies never got a polish dub, so I'll be posting season 1 next, which has way more content to offer. Like that one time Lloyd called Cole an uncle—

Given how famous the ninja are, do you think it's common for people to name their kids after them?

I think you know the drill by now. And in case you don't:
Previous Masterpost Next
Possession | Opętanie
45. Winds of Change | Wiatry Zmian
● They no longer change the title cards to fit the polish names of episodes :(
● Jay calls Kai handsome.
● Jay: "If I have to pass all these out, I maybe the one passed out" → "Mam rozdować ulotki? Może od razu obleję się wrzątkiem." (I have to pass out fliers? How about I pour boiling water on myself right now.)
● Whenever someone uses 'Master of (element)' it's translated to 'the Great Master of (element)'. This occurs only in this season.
46. Ghost Story | Opowieści o Duchach (Ghost Stories)
● Golden Weapons is translated to Golden Swords??? And it's pretty much the whole season like this???
● Kai often uses 'friend' when talking about Lloyd (as in, instead of using Lloyd's name it's just 'friend').
● Ronin's name is pronounced Ronan. The name's also changed to 'Ronan' when written down.
● Jay: "We follow Zane and look what happens!" → "Trzy minuty z Zanem i już sukces!" (Three minutes with Zane and it's a success!)
47. Stiix and Stones | Co nas nie zabije to nas wzmocni (What won't kill us makes us stronger)
● Cole "He'd steal the sea if it was worth anything." → "Typ by ukradł własną matkę." (The guy would steal his own mother.)
To be honest I was wondering if it's not supposed to be "okradł" which would mean "steal from", but no. Cole pretty clearly states that he thinks Ronin would steal his mother.
● Deepstone is translated as 'Ethereal Stone'.
● Nya: "You never told us you could do that." → "Nie mówił Mistrz, że mam takiego smoka." (Master, you haven't said that I have a dragon like that.)
● Wu calls Nya 'kid'. Actually, the Ninja are referred to as 'kids' in this season a lot. The characters to do so are Misako, Wu, Borg and Morro. (Morro does it the most, and is the only character to call Lloyd like that individually).
● Instead of saying 'we'll steal the scroll of Airjitzu [from Ronin]', Jay says "we'll steal his Airjitzu". I'm not sure you could even do that, but you do you.
● Morro: "First clue that will lead me to the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master." → "Wskazówka, która doprowadzi mnie do Grobowca Mistrza Yanga." (A clue that will lead me to the Tomb of Master Yang.)
I'm... really buffled on how this translation happened? I guess the translator mixed Spinjitzu up with Airjitzu? The mistake stays for one more episode before it's corrected.
● Kai [to Ronin]: "You said they were hard to come by!" → "Mówiłeś, że ostrza trzymasz u kumpla!" (You said you keep the blades at your friend's!)
48. The Temple on the Haunted Hill | Nawiedzona Świątynia (The Haunted Temple)
● Ronin, when suggesting different names for Steep Wisdom: "Pysznie i Mokro! Ziółka dla Każdego!" (Delicious and Wet! Herbs for Everyone!)
● Soul Archer: "Are you suggesting that we'll need to possess a few more vessels?" → "Sugerujesz, że będziemy musieli ukraść jakieś środki transportu?" (Are you suggesting we'll have to steal some means of transport?)
● Morro: "The girl! Get her!" → "Dziewczyna! Brać ją!"
There's nothing wrong with this translation, but because the articles don't exist in polish, and the way it was said, makes it sound as if Morro got mad from seeing a random girl.
● Nya is pretty much never called 'Water Ninja', it's always '(the Great) Master of Water' or just saying "you have control over the water".
49. Peak-a-Boo | Ciuciubabka (Blind Man's Bluff)
● Kai: "Who's ready for some exorcise?" → "Chyba zrobiło się trochę duszno? Ja osobiście bym się chętnie przewietrzył!" (I think it got a bit suffocating? I personally would like to get some air!)
'Duszno', beside 'suffocating/stuffy' can be also understood as 'ghostly'; 'przewietrzyć' (to get some air/ventilate) comes form the noun 'wiatr' (wind), so I think this pun is done amazingly, as it not only alludes to ghosts, but also to Morro's element! The rest of the ghost puns were translated really well too, but this one is definitely my favorite!
50. Kingdom Come | Królestwo Chmur (Kingdom of Clouds)
● The Realm Crystal is called 'The Great Crystal'.
51. The Crooked Path | Kręte Ścieżki Losu (Winding Paths of Fate)
● Instead of saying "Heck, I made a carreer out of it", when talking about his failures, Ronin says "Nie trafiło mi się za szczęśliwe życie." (I didn't get to have a happy life).
● Kethanol (which is a made up gas) was translated to 'methane' (a real-life gas).
52. Grave Danger | Grobowiec Losu (The Tomb of Fate)
● Cole: "Just how thick is this glass?" → "A ta szyba jest wodoodporna?" (Is this glass waterproof?)
● Misako: "That girl has always put too much pressure on herself." → "Od dziecka stawiała sobie wysoką poprzeczkę." (She had been setting a high standard for herself since she was a child).
● Jay: "I end up with Nya. (...) N-nothing, just an awesome eyepatch!" → "Nya zostanie moją żoną. (...) Nic, nic, stracę oko!" (Nya will become my wife. (...) It's nothing, I'll lose an eye!)
53. Curseworld, Part I | Świat nad Przepaścią cz. 1 (World Over the Edge part 1)
● Borg: "A Titanium Ninja" → "Jest i mój ulubiony Nindroid!" (And then there's my favorite Nindroid!) Pixal can probably hear you, you know?
When addressing Kai, Cyrus says "And there's my Kai."
● Ghost Cycle is translated as 'Duszny Bike', as in they changed an english word to another english word? (As mentioned earlier 'duszny' can be understood as 'ghostly') It sounds really out of place.
● Nya: "I hadn't even found my True Potential." → "Nawet jeszcze nie wiem co potrafię." (I still don't know what I can do).
Pretty much anytime someone talks about Nya and True Potential it's translated like that. When Nya finally unlocks it, it's translated literally, which makes it a translation inconsistency, since in Season 1 it was 'Pełnia Możliwości' (Fullness of Capabilties).
● Kai: "Nya, when our parents passed, you were there for me." → "Słuchaj, kiedy rodzice zginęli, byłaś dla mnie jak matka." (Listen, when our parents died, you were like a mother to me.)
● Morro: "Cat got your tongue?" → "Borsuk odgryzł ci język?" (Did the badger bit off your tongue?)
The thing is... the equivalent to 'cat got your tongue' in polish would be 'zabrakło ci języka w gębie?' (you ran out of tongue in your mouth?; it's also considered rude). So I have no clue how this translation happened? And it's not like the syllables would add up, since the polish line has three more than the english one? Why did the translator feel the need to invent a new idiom??? I just- Where did the badger even come from???
● Wu calls Lloyd 'son'???????
● When telling Lloyd about Garmadon being in the Cursed Realm, Morro adds that Garmadon's lonely there.
● Nya [when the Preeminent captures Lloyd]: "It's taken him!" "Zabiera Kryształ!" (It's taking the Crystal!)
54. Curseworld, Part II
● Zane: "She's the Preeminent. The physical manifestation of the entire Cursed Realm." → "To ta Znakomitość. Uosobienie wszystkich potworów Przeklętej Krainy." (It's that Preeminent. Personification of all the monsters of the Cursed Realm.)
● Kai: "You stop one, two more grow in its place!" → "Odcinasz jedną, wyrasta dziesięć nowych!" (You cut off one, ten more grow out!)
● Garmadon: "It was never the color of your gi that made you who you are. It was the color of your heart." → "A powiedz mi, od kiedy kolor określa człowieka? Ty sam dobrze wiesz kim jesteś." (Tell me, since when does a color define a person? You know well who you are.)
● Nya: "I thought you were gonna get closer." → "Mieliśmy się chyba dostać do paszczy zła." (I thought we were about to get into the mouth of evil.)
● Jay [after Wu tells them to save the people]: "But what about Lloyd?" → "A co, Lloyd to nie człowiek?" (And what, Lloyd's not human?)
● Misako: "This is what Lloyd would've wanted." → "Nie chciałby żebyśmy zginęli." (He wouldn't want us to die.)
● Lloyd calls Morro 'natręt', which can be understood as an intruder, stalker, interloper or sometimes even a pest.
● Morro: "Why? So you can take the Realm Crystal and use it to find your own prized pupil?" → "Po co? Żebyś mi zaraz zabrał Kryształ i poleciał szukać swojego najukochańszego ucznia?" (For what? For you to take the Crystal from me and go to look for your most beloved student?)
Wu: "You are all my prized pupils! (...)" → "Wszystkich was kocham tak samo!" (I love you all the same!)
Morro: "You can only save those who want to be saved. Goodbye Sensei." → "Ratować możesz tylko tych, którzy mają po co żyć. Żegnaj Mistrzu." (You can save only those who have something worth living for. Goodbye Master.)
● When Lloyd comes back, Wu doesn't mention that he's wearing his father's robes.
● Lloyd [when talking about the Cursed Realm being gone]: "And so is my father." → "Nigdy już nie zobaczę ojca." (I'll never see my father again.)
And that's Possession for you! It took six pages, with the last episode taking around a page and a half.

As mentioned before, I ended up combining DotD and HoT for this translation analisys.
Previous Masterpost Next
Day of the Departed | Święto Umarłych (Day of the Dead)
● Clearstone is translated to 'Ethereal Stone'. You might notice this is this the same Deepstone was translated.
● The Royal Blacksmith's song is translated! This is the first time in the show where we get a song translated.
● 'Master of the House' is first translated to 'Mistrz' (Master), and later to 'Gospodarz' (Host).
● Jay pronounces Ronin's name like 'Ronin'.
To be honest I expected to find a lot more differences in DotD, given the fact that it was translated by a different person than the rest of the series up to this point. But it makes sense I suppose? If you were to translate something you had no contact with up to this point, you'd try to stick as close to the script as possible.
Hands of Time | Władcy Czasu (Rulers of Time)
65. Hands of Time | Władcy Czasu
● When Lloyd sees the painting, and points out Garmadon and Wu, he says "Wonderful Father. Great Uncle."
● Lloyd doesn't call Acronix ugly or anything. He just asks who's the other one. I'm kinda disappointed, since I was hoping for some fun insult here.
● "Control Time - Control Everything" "Panowanie nad Czasem - Panowanie nad Światem" (Control over Time - Control over the World.)
● Acronix [after Wu says 'it ends now']: "It certainly does." → "Pytanie dla kogo." (The question is, for who.)
● Time Punch is translated to... Tooth of Time? I suppose it's because the Time Blades kinda look like teeth? But I see no reason why it couldn't be translated literally.
66. The Hatching | Początki (Beginnings)
● When talking about Acronix being a skilled warrior, Wu says that he didn't make mistakes.
67. A Time of Traitors | Czas Zdrajców
● Vermillion Warriors are translated to Obślizgli Wojownicy (Slimey Warriors).
At first I thought: 'maybe there's no polish word for vermillion? or it's too long, or sounds similiar to a different word.' But no, the word's 'cynober'. My guess for why it wasn't used is translator not wanting to use a word that's not widely known for an important part of the show. Then again, there's this scene in Episode 70, where Zane explains meaning of vermillion; At the same time I can see the translator not wanting to go back, look for one word in the already translated episodes, have to change it, and have to adjust the rest of the sentence to the new translation, with possibilty of missing a few, thus create inconsistencies.
● Nya calls the Time Twins Serpentine at one point?
68. Scavengers | Drapieżniki (Predators)
● "Temporary Master Lloyd in Training" → "Tymczasowo Pełniący Obowiązki Mistrz Lloyd" (Temporary Performing Duties Master Lloyd)
● Operation: Heavy Metal → Operation: Metallica
Operation: Blackout → Operation: Black Hole
69. A Line in the Sand | Przewaga (Advantage)
● Lloyd: "The rest of you spread out." → "Nya, Kai, rozdzielamy się." (Nya, Kai, we spread out.) I'm not a fan of this translation as the whole point is that the team doesn't notice Jay is missing, and by pointing out Kai and Nya it kinda seems as if Lloyd purposefully left Jay out? Idk, maybe I'm just looking too much into it.
● After the Ninja realise Jay is gone, and Nya says "I'm sure he had a reason", Kai respond with "You're always defending him" in polish, when in english it's "Well, I'm glad you're sure."
● Blunck: "Can't dissappoint Commander Machia. No, not the Hands of Time's pet." → "Nie, bo ulubienica Kruxa się obrazi." (No, because Krux's favorite will be offended.)
● In english dub, Edna says she'll be late for her quilting circle, but in polish she says she'll be late for pottery.
● Blunck calls Jay a kid.
● Whenever Krux says 'people' it's translated to 'ludziki' (small people). 'Ludziki' is also what LEGO minifigures are often called in polish.
● Some voice acting note: Lloyd in this season sounds as if his voice is about to crack any second, or as if he's having a sore throat all the time.
● When thinking of an excuse for why they failed, Blunck suggests that the moon was in their eyes. In polish, it's "oślepił nas blask pustyni" (we were blinded by the glow of the desert).
70. The Attack | Atak
● "You missed!" → "Pudło!" Nothing wrong with the translation, but what's interesting here is that 'pudło' also means a box, and they're aiming at the boxes in the scene. So, does that make it a pun, if there wasn't any other way to translate it?
● Raggmunk: "It took Ninja, what, three seconds to defeat them?" → "Ninja pokonali ich w jakieś siedem i pół sekundy." (Ninja defeated them in about seven and a half seconds.)
71. Secrets Discovered | Sekrety wychodzą na jaw (The secrets come to light)
● Instabook is translated to Instastronka (stronka - site)
● Jay calls his Lightning Bike 'Pustynna Błyskawica" (Desert Lightning).
72. Pause and Effect | Akcja się Zagęszcza (The Action Thickens)
● Iron Doom is Translated to 'Żelazne Fatum'. Fatum means fate, destiny, most often used when talking about bad fate in Greek tragedies, where it's inevitable.
● Kai: "And that's the only thing I will inherit from you!" → "I nic więcej nas nie łączy i nie będzie łączyć." (And nothing else connects us, and won't be connecting us.)
73. Out of the Fire and into the Boiling Sea | Powrót do Korzeni (Return to the Roots)
● Boiling Sea is translated to 'Burning Sea'.
● Lloyd calls Jay brother.
● Fusion Dragon → Smok Syntezy (Dragon of Synthesis)
● Borg: "Krux and Acronix's ultimate weapon" → "Ma to być broń masowego zniszczenia." (It will be a weapom of mass destruction.)
● Zane: "Just a few hundred more digits!" → "Jeszcze tylko osiemset pięćdziesiąt!" (Only eight hundred and fifty more!)
● Operation: Return and Repeat → Operacja: Powrót do Korzeni (Operation: Return to the Roots)
● Whenever Maya says 'children' or 'our children', it's always translated to 'my children'.
● Lloyd: "More like when did they go?" → "Raczej kiedy znów się pojawią?" (More like when will they appear again?)
74. Lost in Time | Zagubieni w Czasie
● After Maya and Ray explain that Nya and Kai traveled in time with the Time Twins, Lloyd says "Master Wu is with them?" In polish it's "Wait, so Wu is with you?"
● When the Iron Doom arrives in the past, instead of shouting 'Look!' Garmadon shouts 'Wu!'
● Krux's line "All snakes cease battle" is given to Acronix.
● When Acronix tells the Vermillion Warriors to return to the Iron Doom, he says "Wracajcie do Matecznika". 'Matecznik' is a safe place for animals, but I don't get why the translator felt the need to use it? It's not like the word is commonly used.
● Wu and Garmadon swith Voice Actors for one scene. It's weird.
● Wu: "Find Mystake. Drink Obscuritea, all of you." → "Skupcie się, jesteście silni." (Focus. You're strong.) It also seems as if he's telling it to Kai and Nya in polish, rather than the Elemntal Alliance.
● Borg: "My technology has returned!" → "Moje kochane imperium powróciło!" (My beloved empire has returned!)
● When Cole says that they don't have a master anymore, he says it with Kai's voice.
And that was Hands of Time, taking over five pages, with Episode 69 taking the most space. Sons of Garmadon is next, which I'm very excited to cover - right now it's the season I've made the most notes for!

Polish celebration of the first day of spring are kinda weird when you think about it
I mean
On one hand, it's Truant's Day! Skip school! People skipped school so much that it's considered an unofficial holiday! You're probably gonna have a school trip or something else planned! Fun day!
And on the other hand
A giant straw doll meant to resemble the Goddess of Winter and Death is made just for the purpose of walking it around the town, burning and later drowning it. This tradition is mostly celebrated by children, especially in kindergartens.
