Whumptober 2023 Prompt List | No. 14: “Feed me poison, fill me ‘till I drown.” | Water Inhalation | “Just hold on.”

He catches their terrified screams before he crashes into the water.

Weak, exhausted, he barely has enough in him to stay afloat, trying to gasp for air. The cold water comes at him from all sides. He feels the rushing current against him.

He's just. so tired.

For a brief moment he manages to break the surface. Only a moment. He sees Kai, terrified. Shouting something he can't make out from the crashing water. Lloyd opens his mouth, trying to get air into his burning lungs.

He chokes on seawater instead.

Aching limbs continue to fail him. It sucks, still being a prisoner in his own body.

While rewatching season 5 sometime ago I noticed the ninja never actually mention they lost their powers while in the pawn shop. So from Ronins perspective a bunch of super powered asshole teens showed up in his shop and threatened him physically to get a new power for free despite them technically already having it because of their dragons.

Then there's them not being able to pay for the scroll which is also understandably unbelievable. I mean one of the ninja is a celebrity singers son, another's dating the daughter of a tech companies ceo, they once weilded weapons of solid gold, and are constantly breaking and replacing expensive looking vehicles. So yeah from an outsiders perspective they kinda look privileged as hell

Friendly reminder that Lloyd is, mentally, a kid trapped inside an adults body (courtesy of the Tomorrow’s Tea), and Morro is an adult trapped inside a kid’s body (having died young but returning in ghost form, his mind maturing while his body was cursed to remain the same). And during possession, both spirit and soul were forced into the same physical body, mentally fighting for control.

If you know me, you know I don't like Morro. But I will say, it's absolutely heart shattering when you realize he died just because he was trying to prove himself worthy enough for the green gi.

It makes so much sense why Wu never told the core four about the prophecy because he had seen firsthand how the desire for that much power could drive someone mad.

Istg, season 5 feels like the writers realized the fandom was getting sick of lloyd getting the majority of the screentime and decided to have morro take him out of the picture but also give him more trauma because that's definitely mandatory.

Just to be clear- I do get what people are saying about Nya’s season 5 arc being a burnt out gifted kid scenerio. I was in gifted programs my whole life, and I'm currently going through one of the biggest burn out existential crises of my life. That is a struggle that makes sense to me.

I just don't think that season 5 actually portrays that. I don't think that messaging is actually in the text. I think if that's what they were trying to get across, they would have done a lot of things differently (or they just did a REAL bad job at portraying those ideas). I think y'all are projecting. Which is fine, but it doesn't make the content actually good.

I also think that dismissing Nya’s Samurai X as "Oh, she's just good at it naturally" and then repeatedly telling her she's lazy for not wanting to do this new thing is crazy demeaning, and plays into the 'women aren't willing to work' stereotype a little too strongly for writers which don't have a great track record with writing women to begin with.
