All you need is Strength, Loyalty and Magic. Chapter 5: The Noble’s kin part 1
Lancelot shot Merlin an apologetic look before continuing, "Arthur came up with five different conspiracies in three days on some suspicious activities occuring in the villages near Ealdor and how we should go and investigate. Leon looked like he was about to pop a blood vessel during the round table meetings and it was taking every inch of his patience not to throw Arthur out of the window.
"I am pretty sure he was making a mental list of excuses to keep himself from attempting regicide.Do us a favour and take Arthur with you the next you go." Gwaine suggested and teasingly nudged Merlin's shoulder.
The raven haired man was not in the slightest amused and in return elbowed his friend in the ribs. "Ow! Keep your sharp elbows away from me!" Gwaine playfully shoved him. Laughter bubbled from Merlin's lips and being clumsy as always, he lost his balance and nearly tumbled into another servant carrying a jug of wine but thanks to Lancelot's 'mom reflexes', he was pulled back from the startled servant at the very last second.
The trio patiently waited for the horrified servant to pass through before bursting into laughter."I'll catch up with you guys later," Merlin gave a small wave before disappearing into the kitchen to get the King's dinner.
Gwaine watched as Lancelot returned the wave, mirth present in his eyes and face still bright red from laughter. Gwaine felt envious of his friend's pure nature, who found it so easy to smile or feel happy, no matter what he was going through. The earlier conversation regarding Elaine, fell from his lips as there was no point in making a happy man, sad again.
But it didn’t as easily escape Gwaine’s mind, throughout dinner in between jokes and laughter. Gwaine’s mind kept traveling back to Elaine, Mordred and even the plucky raven man who also enjoyed terrorizing Arthur. The three of them, all had abilities and powers beyond a common man’s imagination yet were still so human. Despite what Gwaine had been taught, most of the time he couldn’t even tell the difference between them and him.
He thoughtfully mulled over his wine before looking up and his gaze instantly met with Merlin's, who sat at the opposite side of the room. His friend raised a brow in concern as Gwaine shot him a reassuring smile. The smile must have not been enough because Merlin pushed aside his half eaten plate and got up, abandoning the conversation between Lancelot and Arthur that he had been previously listening into.
"Are you alright?" Merlin asked, pulling a seat next to him. There was a brief pause on the other end before Gwaine gave him a half smile, "How could you tell?"
"Well for starters, you're still on your first glass of wine" Merlin teased and Gwaine let out a booming laugh. "So you keep count?"
Merlin shrugged, refilling Gwaine's half empty glass. "Someone has to,"
Warmth spread in Gwaine’s chest and this time he managed to gulp down the drink in one go. Merlin chuckled, raising the jug once more but Gwaine motioned him to stop. “There is something I need to ask of you?”
Uneasiness crept into Merlin’s gut but he managed a small smile, “Ask away” he offered. Gwaine nodded, his gaze falling on the table and there it remained as he wondered, out loud. “What’s exactly your take on magic?” He questioned.
“What?!” Merlin immediately sputtered. Gwaine raised his brows, he knew that Merlin would be a tricky one to dissect. In such a manner he was quite the opposite to Lancelot, one could never tell what was actually going through Merlin’s mind. Gwaine had long stopped believing in those bright carefree smiles when he could feel dark thoughts clouding behind his friend’s lively blue eyes.
Merlin’s eyes nervously danced for a second before his lips pulled up in the signature mischievous smirk. His dark brows wiggled in a funny fashion as he seemed to consider Gwaine’s question. “What made you ask this out of the blue?” Merlin deflected, stealing a piece of chicken from Gwaine’s plate. The knight was momentarily puzzled, “Well you see..” he began to explain but it was the exact moment Arthur called for Merlin. Gwaine watched his friend scurry off at lightning speed as if he had been eagerly waiting for such an opportunity, he fulfilled Arthur’s request for more sausages and then grabbed a seat to Lancelot, pulling the knight away from the conversation that Leon had now joined as well.
The two men seem to talk in hushed tones with heads bent close. The warmth in his chest was now replaced by a blackhole that seemed to be suffocating him from inside so it was no surprise that a few minutes later Gwaine retired to his chambers. Elyan and Percival shot him concerned looks but he didn’t bother to stay and come up with an excuse.

All you need is Strength, Loyalty and Magic: Chap 6
Snippet 1:
Is it the same reason you aren’t letting Merlin on board as well?” Lancelot suddenly questioned, glancing towards Aidan who was already knowingly looking at him..
“It’s actually a bit of both, Merlin can barely handle a sword and we are going to be saving three captives so it would be difficult to keep an eye on Merlin at the same time. Also the three of us haven’t been here for long but Camelot is Merlin’s home. I know he would be heartbroken if he got banished from here” Gwaine stated and Lancelot shot him a proud grin in response.
“You’ve really thought this through haven’t you?” He asked. Gwaine in return flashed his signature cocky grin, “There is more to me than a pretty face and a charming personality”
Lancelot rolled his eyes, crossing his arms against his chest. “Then you must have certainly thought of how you are going to break this news to Merlin without being mortally injured in the process”
Gwaine smiled sheepishly at the mention, scratching the back of his neck. “Actually I was hoping that you could do that for me”
“What?!” Lancelot cried out loudly in disbelief that even Aidan jumped, dropping the half eaten drumstick that he had been munching on. “No! This is your idea so you should tell Merlin!” He declared as Gwaine sighed sharply.
“You just agreed to my idea! So shouldn’t you now help me in bringing it into action” The longer haired knight tried to reason but the other wildly shook his head.
“No no this is beyond my call of duty. Do you remember how furious Merlin was yesterday? He is going to literally kill me when I tell him” Lancelot argued back.
“Come on Lancelot, I need you to do this. I already have to deal with my crazy brother-in-law as well. We are the knights of Camelot, we are like brothers to each other and we don’t let our brother carry his burdens alone” Gwaine stated.
“Fine” Lancelot begrudgingly agreed, after a few seconds and Gwaine immediately engulfed him into a bone crushing hug. “I can’t believe you emotionally blackmailed me by quoting one of Leon’s cheesy speeches” he grumpily added, taking a seat on his bed.
“I’ll say. That’s one of the worst things I have ever heard” Aidan quipped, finally finishing off the second platter of food. “Call it what you want but it did the job. Also it was Arthur who said this” he added, grinning devilishly.
“Let’s see how fun it will be when your best friend is killed by your other best friend” Lancelot sighed in defeat.
Snippet 2:
“Are you out of your mind?” Merlin loudly cried out in disbelief. “Merlin, you have to understand that it’s going to be risky. Recently we have been taking too much support from..the thing” the knight quietly added.
“Recently? Lancelot, you know better than anyone else that the only reason Camelot hasn’t fallen into Morgana’s hands or is even still standing is because of..the thing” Merlin argued back.
“I know but Gwaine doesn’t and he’s only trying to look out for you” the other man helplessly tried to reason. “You guys need me. The mission will be carried out more efficiently thanks to the thing! I can’t let you guys do something so risky without me” the warlock pushed on.
“Merlin..” Lancelot called out in a more commanding tone, surprising the other man. “There is no denying that.. but you need to put a little faith in us. This mission is not that difficult; we've dealt with much scarier things before. Gwaine’s fear is justified, he isn’t used to keeping such a big secret and he worries about slipping up and what it might cost you.”
Lancelot sighed before adding to his statement, “He’s slowly building his faith towards magic so let him to do so on his own terms”

Yes for those of who that still remember, yes this fic is still alive and kicking.
The Noble’s Kin (part 2): Now the search for Gwaine’s sister has began but the person behind the kidnapping still remains a big question mark. Gwaine this time, will not only have the support of his two best friends Merlin and Lancelot but there are a few more controversial parties that want to help out…
Excerpt:
“Yes Gwaine?” The King asked. “Sire, I just wanted to ask if you were planning to come along as well?” Gwaine asked, giving Arthur nearly a heart attack from his sudden formality.
“I am, do you not want me to?” Arthur asked, feeling puzzled. Gwaine hesitated for a moment before nodding at his words. “Sire, you are the King of Camelot. It wouldn’t be wise to get you involved in such a minor issue. I am sure Lancelot, my brother in law and I can handle this on our own”
“While I can blindly vouch for the bravery and skill that the two of you possess, I won’t allow only two knights to go on this mission. Is there anyone else that you would prefer?” Arthur asked.
“I would like to take Elyan and Percival as well,” he added after a moment of consideration. “Any particular reason?” The King wondered, crossing his arms against his chest.
“They all are travelers, they know how to blend in to new environments without raising any suspicion which would be useful in this mission” Gwaine replied.
“That’s a fair point,” he nodded in agreement.
“I suppose all important matters have been settled now” Arthur added, staring intently at the knight before him.
Gwaine felt puzzled by Arthur’s questioning gaze but decided to ignore it, bidding his farewell to the King and turning towards the door when Arthur suddenly called out to him once more.
“You didn’t mention Merlin, aren’t you going to take him with you?” He suddenly questioned. “Merlin isn’t a knight” came Gwaine's simple answer as he glanced over his shoulder to look at the King.
Arthur scoffed, simply imagining how pissed off Merlin would be if they left him once more. “Like that ever stopped the three of you before” he pointed out.
“Well you would be surprised to know how most of the time, the ring leader was Merlin himself in those adventures but..this is my fight. I would prefer not to involve him in such a dangerous situation since whatever happens in this mission, the responsibility will fall upon me” Gwaine stated.
It truly felt strange to see such a side of Gwaine and Arthur couldn’t help but admire as well as feel intimidated by the man before him.

Did you know that in Hawai’i, the death toll is so high, it takes 3-4 months to schedule a cremation?
Did you know there are freezers behind hospitals and mortuaries, holding peoples dead ‘ohana?
Did you know that Covid-19 disproportionately effects Hawai’i’s nonwhite residents?
Did you know there are only around 298,000 Native Hawaiians left on Hawai’i? Only around 5,000 of those are 100% Kānaka Maoli.
Did you know there are only an estimated amount of 560,000 Native Hawaiians left in the world?
It is estimated that 1 in 17 Native Hawaiians died after our first exposure to European diseases. The population dropped around 70% in the decade after first contact.
We have struggled to survive, we have fought for cultural revival.
And here we are again.
My people are dwindling and dying, and since the mandates are expiring, now there is nothing stopping the greed of tourists from finishing my people off with disease.
Restore Hawai’i to Hawaiians and don’t fucking vacation in a pandemic
