As of late I've been looking through the Monster Farm Breeder's Encyclopedia scans again. It's such a treasure trove of rare Monster Rancher art that is such a treat for the eyes.

The one thing that always catches my attention when flipping through these pages is the Monster Farm web Wallpaper Collection. Four whole pages dedicated to showing off wallpapers from, well... Monster Farm web.

It really is quite a collection.

So I decided it'd be neat to try going to the actual website discussed on the first page.

To my absolute horror, using the Wayback Machine to visit the site welcomed me to a bunch of broken images. Which didn't bode well for the state of the wallpapers on the website.

Clicking that Wallpapers link confirmed my worries as so many of them seemed to be gone.

Only a small amount of the thumbnails remained, and oh... what's that?

There's a wallpaper that hasn't even been showcased in the Breeder's Encyclopedia.

I just had to check how many of them were actually still available, and while there was a decent chunk there, many of them just led me to a 404 page.

So, yeah. A lot of this stuff is just lost media. I hope one day we can find these original files, but this is the state of things as of now.

Thankfully, there are some that aren't on the Wayback Machine that were actually posted on the Monster Rancher Fandom Wiki of all places. Considering the general low quality of a lot of information on that site, that's like striking gold in a pile of mud.

Even then, I've only been able to find 12 of the 33 wallpapers that were hosted on the site.

Hopefully this post will be fruitful in getting the word out. Due to mobile image posting limitations, I can't post all of the wallpapers I was able to find, but I'll be sure to add onto this post with those when I can.

Stuff I have that’s not here are the eight capsule rubber mascots, and the alternate versions of the Suezo and Mocchi plushies because there wasn’t enough room. And all the Monster Farm related books.

Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher will launch for Switch on October 20 in the west, publisher Bandai Namco and developer Koei Tecmo announced.

In Japan and Asia, the game will be available on the same date both physically and digitally.

Here is an overview of the game, via Bandai Namco:

In Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher, players take on the role of an up-and-coming rancher to breed, befriend, and train Ultra Kaiju for competition. The game features more than 200 kinds of Kaiju including combination variations to collect. Kaiju can be generated using Keywords or NFC-enabled devices*. Players can also combine or synthesize monsters to create all-new-looking Kaiju. In addition to unique movements from Ultra Kaiju not typically seen in past works, Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher sets the stage for epic clashes of monstrous proportions reminiscent of classic Ultraman bouts.

*One of the Kaiju regeneration functions—“Search for music”—won’t be implemented in the North and South America version.

Monster Farm/ Monster Rancher monster type Ryar/ Tiger of the Wind. I watched a video about speculative evolution regarding horn types. I got inspired to design some variants of Rygar with different horn types and body types. 

He is my default doodle subject when i hit a brain block. I intend to draw a better digital clean up art of some of the designs.
