I'm not sure that I have one in specific these days, a pet peeve.

But I have been stuck in awkward situations where a person assumed that I was mutuals with somebody that I'm not; it's a no-fault situation;;; I can't blame them for assuming, as it's somebody with the same tastes as mine! In some previous cases, I've interacted ooc but not IC. But sometimes I simply can't comment on or participate in some plots because they're not mine to have, and I've had to let them down gently. (mildly related, dash commentaries. I do try to find the 'source' so I know that my involvement is as appropriate as possible!)

There's a lot of mutuals I have that one may not know about as well! So I do think it's polite to ask, if you haven't seen them interact directly! My scope of vision is wide when I'm active, so I often know what's up, but I can't always talk to the peeps around me to the same extent, haha.

Friday Munday question

how old do you headcanon the zero crew (Florian/Juliana, Arven, Nemona and Penny) to be? Since I saw your post about Team Star’s ages and it got me wondering about Penny’s other friends

[That's a tricky question. XD I definitely have rough ages in mind for them, but I've mostly thought about Team Star as it's... what this blog/comic is about, haha! I'll try and remember my thoughts!

As I've said before... Florian and Juliana... they are the characters who are the "main" player characters, the ones with the 'raidons who went to Area Zero etc. So they exist, but they're usually off doing their thing and don't have much to do with Giacomo as such at the moment... it's why I mostly haven't addressed them as I wasn't entirely sure if they existed here or not. XD But I guess they would. One of them at very least.

On ages, I'd set them the same as the rest of the Champion kids, 11 years old. That's the base expected age for a base Pokémon game (that isn't Black 2/White 2 or Legends Arceus, or a spin off like Colosseum).

They're probably the peak of bizarre Champion kid vibes because they're so OP. XD

Next, Nemona. She's fairly easy to place for me, I read her as 16 or 17 or so. She's got no baggage as such, she's not connected to Team Star OR the Professors, she's just doing her school education. She's in her final year to be Student Council President... and she's also been there and done that on the whole "becoming Champion" thing... there's no evidence she's been held back years or anything and whilst she doesn't look old, she doesn't look young either... so it feels pretty straightforward, I feel.

For Penny, I think she's older than she looks, even though she is your "underclassman" and "in your year". We know she was sent back to Galar for at least 1.5 years after what happened with Team Star and she's basically had to start again, so she's definitely older than the player character (as is the case, I feel, with ALL of Team Star). Before that, as I said with my explanation for Giacomo's age, there has to have been a bunch of years that passed for the whole bullying and Team Star thing to come to pass... she might not have been at the school as long as Giacomo, but she was definitely there long enough to decide that bullying was a problem she wanted to approach...

I figure, especially since she's a foreign student, she actually came to the Academy as a university or maybe college (6th form, end of high school(?)) level student for further studies in the STEM track. She was likely 16 to 18 when she first attended, but that was years ago at this point. I don't think she's as old as Giacomo, though... I feel he's the oldest of the bunch of Team Star. Surely she was attending when Giacomo was being Student Council President and knows all about that (as do the rest of Team Star's bosses), which was about 3 years prior to this blog/comic (by this comic's lore).

(On a side note, I don't think it was explicitly Nemona that replaced Giacomo as Student Council President... since that would mean she's been president for over 2 years XD They say "some other nerd" or something in the flashback cutscene, that could literally be anybody.)

Going from that, it would make Penny from around 19 to 22 on this blog at least! This might change though, I'll be going through Penny's content in more depth before she turns up for the movie night so... XD; We'll see!

And finally, Arven. This one's a tough one! He's another with history and baggage who hasn't been turning up to his classes and probably got held back multiple years through in-attendance. I think he is also older than you first might assume! He doesn't really have much to do with Team Star, so I haven't thought about him much, but my thoughts are this;

As I said, he's had a tough time with the academy and life in general what with stuff regarding his parents and everything... we know he's been skiving lessons, but I can't remember if they mention how long for... I'm pretty sure somebody like Clavell drops times or something he's known the Professors (but I could be misremembering)... I even went through and tried to rewatch a bunch of Arven cutscenes to better answer this, but I can't find anything like it since I think a lot of fine details like that are in dialogue when you talk to characters, not cutscenes themselves... particularly with people like Clavell ABOUT Arven, not including him... =( If anybody has any screenshots of that sort about how long Clavell's known the professors or any indication how long it's been Arven's been without his parents etc. it would really help! I foolishly didn't take screenshots thinking I wouldn't need them...

In any case, I can't imagine him living on his own before his teen years and doing very well... or it being legal XD; I'm pretty sure I saw a good analysis somewhere that said something about him being 11 or 12 at some point in the story and it's been about 10 years since then? But I can't remember the specifics... I feel like that would be reasonable thinking though, him being around 20/21, especially with him trying to find a cure for Mabosstiff. I wish I had that analysis to hand.

It's awkward, I can't find any time scales in the cutscenes I rewatched as to just how much time has passed since each of these events happened... how long's he been looking for a cure for Mabosstiff? When did he go to Area Zero and get Mabosstiff hurt? Any of that info as a date would help!

Going by his build (wide, has the flat chin like Giacomo), his experiences (skipping school, family life etc.) and his striking facial hair (sideburns, very impressive, Arven), I would also put him at around 21 years old, personally... but unless I can find any kind of indication WHEN these events happened? I can't be sure, which is frustrating! =(

This took all day to compile and I'm a bit iffy about posting it because of the same reasons I mentioned in the previous post about Giacomo... XD; Eh... it's just speculation that applies specifically to this blog. Again, it doesn't invalidate any thoughts you may personally have.

I haven't done one of these in awhile! A munday post: new month (and one of the best of the year), so why not?

My queue is currently empty and my to-write list is currently at five replies, which is...more than I'd like to tackle all at once. Between the usual medication side effects and the unusual uptick in how busy I am at work (though I'm hoping this might change soon, or at least some of my duties will get redistributed), I'm exhausted pretty often. Add in preparing for a convention at the end of October, trying to remodel two rooms in my house, and general adult responsibilities, and my writing energy isn't what it used to be.

That said, I'm trying to get on top of what I currently owe and I'd really like some new threads/interactions going so I don't get burned out on my current threads. All I ask is that you understand that turnaround time will be a bit slower on my end: interspersing aesthetic, art, and meme content with replies and posting IC content every other day has been a good system so far, so I'll be keeping with that. Additionally, sometimes I just need to turn on my do not disturb on discord so I can focus on replies to writing partners. With limited time, I often need to choose between chatting OOC and getting any IC writing done most days.

That said, so this isn't all asking for patience with replies, here's a little of what I wore at Dragon Con last month! I brought nine costumes and ended up wearing eight of them, which is a pretty good record for me. This was a five day convention (instead of many anime/game conventions, which are three or four days), which is the only reason why I could fit that many in. And while there are anime and video game panels, costumes, etc. at this event, they are definitely in the minority: it really is a pop culture convention run by fans, for fans.

This is one of my Nesta Archeron costumes from the book series A Court of Thorns and Roses! I love romantasy fiction and the SJM universe especially. This was just after the big Sarah J. Maas universe photoshoot, where there was probably 75-100 attendees! We needed a bigger shoot location.

And here is my Penelope Featherington costume from Season 2 Episode 1 of Bridgerton. I love her tacky star dress and while it's hard to see in this photo, this dress has hundreds of tiny rhinestones applied to the golden yellow lace. I did this by hand and it took about two weeks to do, off and on.

This is my reminder that I need to get out my rhinestone applicator tool to touch up some rhinestones on a gown for my next anime convention...sigh.

@phoenix-flamed | hot damn, vonny. where do i even begin? i didn't follow vonny until fairly recently-ish. i jumped on them on my sylv blog and was barely there so HAD to grab em with heid and i just- the rpc should consider itself blessed to have such a wonderful write & a wonderful person in their midst. vonny's elwin is so incredibly weaved that i would read a book about him written by them; i always admire someone who picks up a side-character but someone who then gives that side character a well-crafted story, interesting headcanons and pushes it all with infectious enthusiasm and passion? sign me the F up. like, GODDAMN. and as a person? vonny is so incredibly sweet, someone i'd love to bug more honestly because wow. & on a personal note, someone who did something recently for me that really helped me in a great & personal way. i just - <3 - so much love and respect in my soul for this one.

@svnsworn | light is somebody who if you say to me 'recommend a user', im gonna recommend her. she jumps to the forefront of my mind like a lil froggy. i always mess up when trying to run multis but she makes it look EASY. the AMOUNT of times that light has told me a headcanon about a character and i've gone 'holy shit! of course!' she has that knack for spotting those details, and then expanding on them. and no matter who she chooses - from leon to luna - she injects this love & insight into them that they truly deserve. she's really incredible and there isn't a day i wouldn't recommend her. and as a person? light is always lovely. like, alwAYS.

[[ pointless little munday rant/apology under the cut!! ]]

I just wanted to say: i'm sorry for being really clingy at times and especially as of late. Things aren't going well with IRL interpersonal relationships recently, I've been having a lot of autistic breakdowns at work which make me isolate myself and act rude to others without realizing it, and I figure that's why people are (understandably) rejecting me a lot in return... so I turn to online spaces even more than usual. I rely too much on current plots/threads I'm excited about in order to maintain a good mental health balance ;-;

I'm really sorry for always being up in people's notifications or sometimes DMs/discord, when I should probably give everyone more space (or on the contrary, nurture the friendship more, it's either 0% or 100% with me haha). I know I can't force friendships, sometimes you'll click with another person and sometimes you don't, but I've probably been trying to force things when I should just accept that I can't be BFFs with everyone everywhere. It's not anyone's job on here to help me feel better, friendships should be natural and I can't rely on tumblr for therapy haha.

I know that having only one muse to offer means that scenarios I can write are limited, and I can be very self-obessessed and I probably make things about my muse too much, and I also wanted to apologize about that. It's frustrating when I can't give the people I want to write with the kind of content they seem to really enjoy, but again, I shouldn't try to force it.

Tl;dr: if I've ever misread signs and acted either too clingy or too distant, I'm super super sorry!! i'm learning every day and I just hope to find that sweet spot between enjoying my time here and having a fulfilling real life experience that doesn't make me want to escape online 24/7. Outside of the more obvious cases -- (such as someone revealing themselves to be wildly toxic and/or in possession of worldviews/beliefs that are bigoted or otherwise alarming) -- I don't tend to be a 'one strike and you're out' kind of person. I'm more interested in overall patterns of behavior, and how I, in turn, vibe with those patterns. Everyone has bad days, says things awkwardly sometimes, doesn't handle situations perfectly, forgets a tag, etc. I'm not quick to punish people simply for that 'human factor'.

That being said though, if, after giving someone a chance for awhile, I find that I just generally don't enjoy their presence on my dash and feel no compulsion to interact with them or bother reading anything they have to say--? Then sure, I'll conclude at that point that we just don't 'click' quite right and subsequently unfollow them. That doesn't necessarily mean they did anything wrong or that I have an issue with them. I simply dislike the sensation of unnecessary clutter.

Let me preface this by saying that I like shipping as much as anybody else does. I think it's fun to chart out a loosely projected course and spitball ideas about how and why key developments might occur, and then take our time playing things out and letting it all slowly build upon itself, gradually evolving in flavor and picking up facets and momentum the more the characters interact and the more that we as players get to know each other. I don't mind being approached early about possible shipping as long as people are down to actually put in the time and work with me to make it a fully fleshed-out Thing.

However, I find that I'm apt to be suspicious of blogs that have a lot of ships if I don't see any readily apparent evidence that suggests meaningful, ongoing development of the characters' dynamics with each other. If a person approaches me about shipping, but I see that their blog contains very little apart from thirst memes, low-effort and vaguely suggestive/flirty one-liners, and ship content that revolves solely around characters cuddling, screwing, or making incessant goo-goo eyes over how so totally in love they are or how so totally hot they find each other, I'm going to be like, 'why don't you actually do something substantial or interesting with the fleet of ships you already have instead of trying to recruit me into it too?'

GOODNESS, I SHOULD HAVE ANSWERED THIS WEEKS AGO.

One day, i went on tumblr, looking for sonic content to feed my need. And then, i found random roleplay blogs. As I made my way through the threads others had written, I felt this need to actually be a part of it as well.

having experience in roleplaying from other places, i merely needed a character to write with...and somehow, this character was Lien-da, a notoriously difficult person to create stories for. But I made do, and honestly, do not regret that decision.

2) No, i honestly prefer my past, experience lackkng writing,to my current level. Lien-da feels a lot more apathetic compared to her past more proactive self. Granted, I was on tumblr 48 hours out of 24 back then, and people weren't as adverse to roleplay. I'd throw asks around and nearly always get a reply.

I miss that.

not in a way that'd change yuri's overall character or any story events!

the only liberty i've taken is how i've interpreted his feelings toward his childhood friend, flynn. their conflict represents the game's central themes, so tacking on some deeper, unspoken affection from yuri's end does change the vibe of some plot beats, but i haven't pushed it any further than that! i try to base it all on canon content + director/VA interviews, anyway, so i'd hope it isn't too divergent 🥸.

30. what are your favorite RP tropes to play? (angst, hurt-comfort, etc…)

idk if i have a favorite! there are times when i really wanna lean into angst, combat, and other difficult topics that let me test my muse's limits (i.e., beat them down to a pulp physically and/or emotionally), but i'm also a huge fan of mushier, fluffy threads. both make me wanna kick my feet, yuri's just more prone to guarded interactions (if not silly ones).

that said, there are scenarios i've never written before (character death, romance, found family, etc.), so idk how those would factor into my hypothetical tierlist yet!

What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? I looove love love difficult games like Drakengard, Fear and Hunger, and the Soulsborne series. They're really enjoyable to dissect mechanic-wise.

Favorite Pokemon type & Pokemon: Ghost type! Haunter is my favorite.

How did you get into Fire Emblem? My girlfriend is a huge Awakening genius and I got interested because of him. I ended up buying a physical copy of Awakening as a result.

Who was your first TOA muse? If you don’t have them anymore, could you see yourself picking them up again? Tharja! Haha, maybe one day. But I'm perfectly content watching others write her now.

Do you think you have a type of character you gravitate towards? Oh absolutely. I think it's fully obvious the kinds of characters I love. Characters with deep issues that are generally misunderstood or hated by fans for various reasons. I love figuring out what they've got going on and doing them justice.

What do you believe you enjoy writing the most? I like writing villains! Weird off-putting characters that are volatile.

Favorite TOA-related memory: Huge fan of the time during KKE we suggested tying a rope to Ephidel and throwing them down into the abyss below with a lantern. Which I'm super glad we didn't because there were dangerous monsters down there and poor Ephidel would've gotten torn apart.

i can safely say that it has insanely changed when i first came here TEN years ago. things were a lot more simple and graphics were not crazy insane, but i interacted with a lot of in character ask blogs! thats the one thing i kind of miss because they'd make lots of content for themselves and they were genuinely enjoyable! but i will say it hasnt gone bad OR good, its changed insanely now. with the change in seeing more supplied rules/guidelines is honestly good because you set boundaries that way. not a way to walk on eggshells, but more so you understand why people have set what they wish for.

for me, ive had a few things that have made me immediately unfollow. so, my one stickler is just... porn. specifically anime porn, but ive had smut blogs who have stolen art on their character profiles that are suspiciously 4K, but their writing is less than the bare minimum. big ick from me. another reason is a ludicrous amount of OOC posts that are emotionally heavy. ive had to softblock new followers for this reason because they have either major suicidal intentions in their posts or complaining; no in-between. and just to include another thing before i move on: no activity at all. like... i'd like to see some attempt that you're writing and not six months of no posts or longer.

LASTLY, uhh... i honestly dont have that many pet peeves, but if i wanna be super super specific? people who use their muses as a means to gain sympathy from their partners or a reaction out of their muses for attention. i have seen this happen and have it happen to me on an occasion. and not like "oh i want someone to respond to this open post!" but as in "im incredibly sad/depressed/emotional, so my character is therefore depressed, but in an extreme way and needs a specific muse/partner that i want comfort from".

do you know how fucking draining that is? you learn to pick up the behavior when you notice it because you'll fall for it the first few times. i know damn well ill get some flack for mentioning this, but it's a problem. i don't like it and it makes me lose ANY interest in you as a partner because THAT alone tells me you want someone to smooch you up and make you feel good with fictional characters. its fucking weird. im here to write and have fun, not to give people emotional sympathy that will barely last a fucking week.

Happy Munday! Just a few quick things, plus some cosplay photos from a recent convention (under the cut, in order not to clutter the dash with OOC content).

I am still accepting starters for this starter call! I'll close the call on Saturday, November 18. Until then, I will not have a cap on starters beyond writing one per mun/blog. This will likely be my last starter call from now until the beginning of 2024, so if you'd like me to write you a starter that isn't attached to a meme, this is your chance! I will still share memes when I have the time in my schedule to start new threads, but for those of you who don't like memes and prefer starter calls, this is the best way to interact with me through the holiday season.

I'll be a little quiet around here from today until Friday: I've got two long days in the office and then I'm celebrating my wedding anniversary on Thursday after work (with a considerable amount of food and champagne), so my writing and chatting time will be limited this week.

That said, I've finally had some time to look at my cell phone photos of my costumes from my last anime convention. I'm still waiting on photos from my private photoshoots, but in the meantime, I'll share a costume I haven't posted here yet. I predict some of you may recognize her (hi Bubblez!).

Did you know that I've either played or watched my husband play both AI: The Somnium Files games (because watching me try to play through the somniums is a stressful experience for everyone involved)? Now you do!

Actually, I've had my Boss costume for about a year now and I haven't been in a happy place with it until last month. Admittedly, my dress is a bit oversized after I lost weight and I need to take it in in a few places before wearing it again. That's the only thing that has stopped me from doing a private photoshoot with Boss.

In any case, she was my favorite out of the games and one of the very few (maybe only?) character I cosplay as who is older than me. How is this woman in her forties? I thought I had amazing skincare and genetics but Boss is on another level.

The jacket and gloves are both leather, with the dress made of a cotton/poly spandex and the boots being custom pieces that I ended up repainting to be a closer match to my jacket. The Ai-balls are from Lemon Penguin, who loves Uchikoshi games and produces a few Uchikoshi-related items to vend at conventions (and they conveniently end up at the cons I attend!).

But let me say: I love this wig so much. It was a custom piece after I was hating my own styling attempts, and comes with her 'hair donut' ponytail holder, her slicked back tendrils, and a stubbed ponytail that keeps the weight of the tail and wig lighter on my head. When I get a professional shoot of this done, I definitely want more shots of this incredible wig from the back.

And finally, the AiTSF cosplayers I've met at conventions have all been so friendly and kind! I had to miss the photoshoot this time around but I participated at one at a previous convention: we were a small group but we were mighty. Even if we either weren't recognized or called by some other character name (I get Misato Katsuragi in this one quite a lot. Ironic, as I also have a Misato costume).
