I am headcanoning so hard that the reason we have some many scrumptious scenes of them horizontal is because they looked at that height difference and thought how else can we take advantage of this and make them on the same level and they thought…let’s makes them lay down a LOT

Here for it and maybe it’s not a conscious plan so much as me being obsessed with their height difference and hyper aware of it…because it’s not just the laying down it’s anytime their is a choice for them to be on the same level in any way that has me swooning

it's to do with the nature of imaginative intimacy — the role people go on to play in our lives even after a chance, momentary meeting; never to be repeated.

how they linger, and blossom in memory.

i think it's a beautiful summation of sol and sunjae's love story — "meet me in the if:" the imprecise air of the past — the promise of possibility.

the entirety of lovely runner is steeped in the purple ink of potential — sol and sunjae live between the "what-ifs," the "could-have-beens," the "missed you by just a second."

turning time back gives sol a chance to save him — and gives sunjae a chance to fall in love with her all over again.

to fail in better ways. to get their story right.

to harness the uncertain magic of lives already lived, there to be re-moulded again. reshaped by love.

however this ends, i know what they'll say to each other: "meet me in the if — where you and i will finally make sense."

Short observation after my BE episode 5 rewatch:

At the end of ep5 , when Joo Won loses his temper for good, clutches his chest and is almost crying as he screams at Dong Sik to tell him who the culprit is, DS sees for the first time just how desperate JW is. Not because he wants to be promoted back (which he just accused him of, but JW’s reaction was to get emotional and scream that he’s going to stop cops like him from pushing another person to their death—i think this is when DS starts thinking of JW differently, that maybe he’s not just a rich prissy brat trying to climb back up to the top after all, maybe I’m wrong but this is when I saw an obvious shift in his perception of JW), but because he genuinely feels guilty and is desperate to somehow make things right, with clumsy determination, a storm of wrongfully targeted emotions and a lot of impulsiveness—yet none of it with any selfish motive behind.

And so, Dong Sik finally tells us who the culprit is as the camera switches to KJM.

Of course he doesn’t tell Jw right away [and at this point we already got clues and foreshadowings as to who the serial killer is, DS even revealed it to JW before, when he recited everyone’s names except for KJM’s— how JW hadn’t realized when he unconsciously disclosed his own secret the same way and DS even pointed it out to him and used the same trick right after… well I can’t exactly blame him for that, it’s an emotionally intense moment and his mind has to process a lot (not that I would’ve done a better job but I believe Joo Won is smart enough to figure it out—if not for his emotional state worsening because of everything)].

But i think explicitly showing it to the audience at this very moment, was intentional and tells us just how desperate DS is to just tell someone else. And seeing how earnest JW is (because at this point he’s already established that JW is a terrible liar and can’t keep anything under wraps, so really, DS has no choice but to believe him lol), DS finally decides to show what he saw, but of course he can’t really tell JW, so instead he shows the audience behind the protagonist, us.

The next episode, KJM calls DS and asks for JW’s number. DS could have said no, but instead he passes the phone to JW, once again implicitly telling him who the culprit is right after JW asked.

I just love this series so much because this is something that we wouldn’t get on first watch, you would miss these details and think maybe DS is doing it cause he feels guilty towards KJM, that the blank expression he has is because he’s sad for him. God I love this show.

I don’t know if i’m wrong or reading too much into it so feel free to correct me or add your thoughts.

what I appreciate best about mbc tomorrow is how all the main four proudly and regularly drink ‘respect women’ juice:

choi joon-woong? goodest boi, actual puppy, will cry pure tears for you

lim ryung-gu? actual momma’s boi, beats up r*pists, an absolute icon

park joong-gil? simp for his wife, no to victim-blaming, will probably savage (or burn) people who call women sl*ts

koo ryeon? QUEEN, ‘you will never be able to shame me’, epitome of dignity 

it’s funny how koo ryeon is actually the LEAST vocal as a feminist among the four of them.

i simply can not explain to you how it feels to see yeowoon all happy, smiley, talkative and flirty after we've seen him being so cold, isolating himself, and completely ignoring everyone around him (and we know he's been like this for years).

he's just so precious to me, and it feels like he's been suppressing this cheerful side of his, and seeing him bloom into a complete goofball is really doing things to my heart.

Dongsik is a true justice/law upholder. Never letting things slide if its wrong. He and juwon are alike in that sense.

Everyone turns to see Juwon par Dongsik… that is until he speaks.

Juwon judging people and things right off the bat. Bro is not amused.

Technically Juwon is higher rank than Dongsik because Dongsik is assistant inspector and Juwon is flat out inspector

Dongsik immediately knew something was up as soon as he heard who Juwon’s dad is.

Juwon’s first impression of Dongsik is that he is intelligent and follows the law like rulebook when dealing with people (ofc he also thinks he is a murderer and should avoid someone like him and has already decided he hates his guts)

The tension starts as soon as Juwon drives past Dongsik. They immediately are making notes on each other

I love these dinner scenes with Juwon. They so clearly reflect him and his attitude at the time as well as his relationship with his dad as well as how they change over the show.

아버지 and not 아빠 really emphasises the father-son relationship they have (or lack thereof)

Their first interaction and they already dont like each other.

Everyone sucking up to Juwon and trying to work with him and hes like yeah… no. Y’all are weird.

THEN GETS OFFENDED WHEN DONGSIK SAYS HE DOESNT WANNA WORK WITH HIM LMAOO

so hes like… two can play at this game bitch and calls Dongsik a nutjob.

Ah yes the Juwon and Hyeok brother dynamic. I find it interesting and think its an underrated Juwon relationship.

Hyeok trying be Han Kihwans son and Juwon is like “dont. Trust me.”

We mention Dongsiks wall of notes and stuff on the Yuyeon etc case but we dont talk about Juwons enough. Mf has two. Two fricken boards. One he makes in his closet (?) above his computer and the other next to his bed.

It takes a whole day to get to the reed field this time??? Cause he arrived in the morning (i assume) at the police station and then the sun is set by the time he gets there. I think he may have procrastinated bc of the mud or he actually arrived in the afternoon and the sun sets ridiculously early in late october?

I love how this episode brings us full loop to the start of the episode but includes Juwon the second time to add fresh perspective and the aftermath.

Juwon’s step back and shaky hand is a give away that he knows her and Dongsik immediately picks up on it. Yet Dongsik tells Jihoon to leave knowing this must be a secret.

And Juwon doesn’t miss a beat when Dongsik says its a woman. They’re both one upping each other all the time

We give Juwon shit for constantly grabbing juwons collar/shirt but Dongsik did it first! (And it was hot because he smooths out Juwons shirt after) Juwon just copied and repeated.

And Dongsik quickly realises why Juwon is in Manyang and decides to just play with him and be a little shit.
