“Lucy?” Natsu asked from his spot on the couch with a nervous grin, pulling at his collar. It seemed to be hotter in here than normal. And it wasn’t just because he was in the room.

“Yes, Natsu?” Lucy answered, turning toward him and looking into his eyes. 

Natsu swore the temperature in the room rose ten degrees when Lucy gazed into his eyes. Her brown eyes always gazed into his green ones with such softness and playfulness. And he liked that. 

He liked her. 

“I need to ask ya something,” he told her with his signature grin, and Lucy just smiled in anticipation. 

“Would you want to go out with me sometime?”

Lucy could swear the room turned a little warmer when he smiled at her like that. She loved how his lips turned up, and how his teeth showed when he was especially happy. And she liked it when he was happy.

She liked him. 

“Of course, I would love to!” she said with a smile. 

Natsu let out a relieved sigh. “Thank Mavis, cause I remember practicing that in the mirror for hours.” 

“Well, you did a pretty good job at it,” Lucy praised him with a smile. 

As they continued watching the movie, his hand inched towards hers. Hers unconsciously pressed into his palm. Their fingers entwined and they turned to grin at one another. 

They could swear the room was ten degrees warmer as they held each other’s hands and looked into one another’s eyes, smiling.
