How to Make a Black Walnut Old Fashioned
Happy National Bourbon Month, friends! I figured the best time to make a come back was in honor of my favorite spirit! This month I have something super special planned for all of us. For the month of September, I'll be uploading a new video EVERY SINGLE DAY. That's right! You'll learn one new cocktail every single day this month!
Let's start with this little riff on the Old Fashioned, The Black Walnut Old Fashioned. This one stars Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon, Nocello Walnut Liqueur, and a smidge of Woodford Reserves Cherry Bitters. The result is a vanilla hinted, nutty, dark caramel dream. Substituting the simple syrup here for walnut liqueur brings out all the characteristics I love in Four Roses.
Play around with this one! I love using Aztec Chocolate Bitters or Orange Bitters in it as well.
The Black Walnut Old Fashioned
2 oz Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon 1 oz Nocello (Walnut Liqueur) 3-5 Dashes Cherry Bitters
Stir, strain, serve over ice. Garnish with a Luxardo cherry and either lemon or orange peel for brightness.

How to Make a Mint Julep
I couldn't get out of National Bourbon Month without a Mint Julep video. Y'all didn't think I'd leave you hanging, did you? This Kentucky Derby classic is beyond simple to make. I know I do it a little bit differently than the traditional prep, but I think this makes it easiest to do at home, and it best combines the ingredients. Without futher ado, here's the Mint Julep.
Mint Julep
2 oz Bourbon 1/2 oz Simple Syrup 5-7 Mint Leaves
Muddle mint leaves and simple syrup together. Add bourbon, crushed ice, combine quickly. Pack the glass with crushed ice, garnish with a mint sprig and a straw.

How to Make a Tiki Death Punch
We're down to the final days of summer, and I thought the best way to send out the season would be to share a few of my favorite bourbon tiki drinks. While not super common, bourbon tiki beverages are absolutely delightful. Vanilla and caramel weave themselves smoothly through bright citrus and fruity flavors, adding a spice slightly sharper than rum. I'm a big fan. This drink right here is one that brought a giant smile to my face while shooting it, and I hope you have just as much fun with it. I also chose it because it's a great option for experiencing tiki drinks at home. Many times they have tons of perishable ingredients like purees, fruit juices and syrups. However, this drink is pretty easy to put together. Oh! And a pro tip on the "crushed" ice-- I just bought a small 7lb bag from the store, wrapped it in a towel and repeatedly smashed it on the ground until crushed!
Tiki Death Punch
1/2 oz Bourbon 1/2 oz Gin 1/2 oz Overproof Rum (I used Cutwater Spirits' Barrel Aged & actually enjoyed it more) 1/2 oz White Rum 1/2 oz Giffard Pamplemousse 1/4 oz Orgeat 3/4 oz Lime Juice 3/4 oz Simple Syrup
Shake, strain over crushed ice. Garnish with mint, 2 Luxardo cherries and a barspoon of cherry syrup.

How to Make a Jockey Club
Looking for a little variation on your classic Manhattan? Look no further than The Jockey Club cocktail, also sometimes referred to as the Jockey Club Manhattan. This is a sweet and strong one, and the brands of bourbon and vermouth you use will greatly sway what direction this one goes in. Play around with it! Try a few different vermouths and a different bourbon to create spicer versions.
The Jockey Club
1 1/2 oz Bourbon 1 oz Sweet Vermouth 1/4 oz Maraschino Liqueur
Stir, strain, serve up in a chilled coup. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

How to Make a Ward Eight
The Ward Eight is a light and refreshing bourbon cocktail that dates back to the early 1900's (or late 1800's depending on who you ask... there are no less than 3 origin stories floating around!) Featuring bourbon, orange juice, lemon juice, and grenadine, this one is simple. I find it to be a good introduction to bourbon cocktails for those who are a little gun shy (as is the Paper Plane).
The Ward Eight
2 oz Bourbon 1/2 oz Orange Juice 1/2 oz Lemon Juice 1/4 oz Grenadine
Shake, strain, and serve up in a chilled coup. Garnish with a Luxardo cherry.
