Ya know, everyone talks shit about Fairytail because it does rely heavily on “the power of friendship” and I get if that’s not your thing or feels too childish for you but

Can we acknowledge how dark it all is? Loke/Leo is suicidal in the beginning, Lucy comes from an abusive father and dead mother, Gray is an orphan And his step in mother figure died to save him after he made a bad choice, Erza was an orphan and a Literal Slave as a child with a bunch of other children and her childhood love got possessed and continued her abuser’s work. We all know the shit with Natsu and the dragon slayers.

That’s not even going into the Mirajane/Elfman/Lisanna backstory, or the story of any other characters like Juvia and Happy and Charla and Zeref and such. Like holy shit? This show is so so dark and everyone looks over all the trauma and dark themes because there’s the whole power of friendship thing, which was weaved into the show to actually mean something and not just there for shits and giggles.

All this to say, you can dislike the show, hate it even, but don’t just judge it for the light hearted outer shell it has, because inside is dark and dense and Meaningful

Natsu and Lucy encounter a nice farm boy on a mission and no matter what Natsu does, it seems like Lucy is paying more attention to this new guy than him. So, Natsu starts going to extreme lengths to try and regain Lucy's affections attention.

All the while, Natsu might need to come to terms with his own feelings for Lucy.

“I’m sorry…” she whispered.

She meant it. Truly and honestly.

She had no recollection of the man before her. However, she felt her soul being pulled in by his presence. The way his smell wrapped around her like a blanket. The way his warmth spread through her body like a shot of whiskey while still being a few feet away from her. The way her reflection in his eyes made her look so dazzling.

God, she was truly sorry.

“I wish-… I wish I could…” she stammered. Her eyes stung with unshed tears. Her heart hammered painfully slow. Her fingers itched to touch him, but with these circumstances… she would just be pushing the knife in further.

She envied the woman she used to be. The one that loved this man so much that it seemed to be ingrained in every cell in her body.

How beautiful that love must have been.

A love that never was she had deduced from conversations with the fellow guild mates.

“I’ll wait.” His voice sliced through her conscious. When she looked back up; she hadn’t realized she looked down at all, he was staring back with brilliant eyes. Red dusted over his nose and tinged his ears. The rest of his face looked tense. “You fell in love with me once, right? So, you can do it again. I’ll wait.”

She wanted to laugh. Not because it was funny. It was far from it. She wanted to laugh because more than anything she wanted him to be right. So much so that his words made her heart flutter. She wanted to laugh because it was better than crying.

“I thought you weren’t a patient man.” She teased gently. To her sheer amazement, it brought a gentle smile to his face. He took a few steps forward; arms reach away from her. Her breathed hitched in her throat as her senses became incredibly sensitive to his proximity.

“For you, I’d wait a thousand life times.” His hand came to caress her cheek. Large, warmed and calloused fingers wiping tears she wasn’t aware finally tumbled from her eyes. “But something tells me…” he whispered in such a tender voice, it made her shiver. “I won’t have to wait that long.”

Headcanon Request: What if Levy rewrote the Book of E.N.D?

Ooo interesting! Love me a good AU

Lucy still tried originally, but Gray wasn't able to cool her down fast enough so she ended up collapsing

With no hesitation, Levy takes over

While no human can read the demonic language, Levy does understand more of it than Lucy

Which is good because she doesn't have as strong of a bond as Lucy and Natsu do so making her way through the book is difficult

Levy can't read Natsu well so she relies on what she can read to make her way through the book

Gray has to double his ice output because Levy has zero tolerance to Natsu's heat

It doesn't help that Natsu's flames seem to sense that it's not Lucy anymore and have gotten hotter in defense

Levy, being the badass she is, keeps on and manages to save Natsu

Her side effects are pretty brutal

She can't see out of her one eye for weeks

Levy has to go to physical therapy to fix the muscle damage done by the fire

Gajeel is absolutely falling apart with worry. He waits on her hand and foot.

He also fights off the urge to take out his frustrations on Natsu

Levy and Lucy have matching scars from handling the book and they joke that it's their version of best friend bracelets

Natsu goes out of his way to repeatedly thank Levy for what she did

Levy now has the rare but very powerful perk of having Natsu at her command

She can call him to help her out at any point in time with no questions asked

Levy keeps telling him he doesn't have to do everything she asks but Natsu insists it's the least he can do
