The list of shows that have crossed the 1,000-episode milestone is largely populated by talk shows, soap operas, game shows, and reality programs. (And, of course, Sesame Street.) Especially in recent years, the list doesn't include many shows like NCIS.
Nonetheless, the franchise is hitting its 1,000th episode on April 15, and Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive look at the milestone night.
The threshold will be crossed with the 464th episode of NCIS, the franchise's flagship show. The achievement counts episodes across all NCIS shows, including the original series, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, NCIS: Hawai'i, and the new NCIS: Sydney. All told, it's roughly 42,722 minutes of water-adjacent investigations across the United States and, as of November, Australia as well.
The April 15 episode of NCIS, currently in its 21st season, is not-so-coyly titled "A Thousand Yards," and CBS says the episode will be rife with Easter eggs for long-time fans, including appearances from NCIS: Los Angeles' Daniela Ruah and NCIS: Hawai'i's Vanessa Lachey. The investigators will face a shadowy enemy from their past as Vance (Rocky Carroll) attempts to mend a fractured relationship with his estranged son.
The show will also drop celebratory Easter eggs on social media throughout the day.
The celebration goes beyond the April 15 broadcasts. It will include an April 8 special, NCISverse: The First 1,000, on Entertainment Tonight that will feature a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the 1,000th episode and stars sharing their favorite NCIS moments.
Franchise stars will also pop up on other shows throughout the week. The many appearances will include Wilmer Valderrama on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on April 10, Brian Dietzen and Diona Reasonover on The Price Is Right, and April 15 appearances on The Talk from Gary Cole, Sean Murray, Carroll, and Lachey.
NCIS may seem inescapable on CBS for the next two weeks as its stars pop up all over the channel. Still, this isn't likely to be the last milestone for the sprawling franchise.
CBS has already announced two new shows entering the NCISverse next season. NCIS: Origins and another show for Paramount+ that has yet to be named, but stars Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly, reuniting on NCIS for the first time in 10 years as their characters Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo.
NCIS airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. Watch the exclusive preview of the 1,000th episode above.

HEY EVERYONE
i’m finally doing the review of NCIS: Los Angeles
this is one of the comfort series that I watch and that feels like i’m a part of the family. the first time i watched it I was a little girl, recently I wanted to watch it again because I wanted to understand better the events and connect the dots. so here’s the review!
possible spoilers of NCIS: Los Angeles
the plot is one of my favorite, all the investigations are solved by a two persons-team formed by Special Agent G. Callen and Special Agent Sam Hanna, an ex navy-seal. The other team is formed, for the first season, by Special Agent Kensi Blye and Dominic Vail, a young operative agent who is killed in action during the first season, leaving Kensi Blye without a teammate and full of feelings of guilt. the spot is taken, in season 2, by Detective Marty Deeks, who make a liaison between LAPD and NCIS. He holds this position until departmental reforms in season 12 end up terminating it, after which he completes FLETC training and officially joins NCIS as an Investigator. Henrietta Lange is the leader of this office. In OSP, the team is completed by Operational Psychologist Nate Getz, and Technical Operator Eric Beale. Nate is assigned, after season 1, to different operations by Hetty, and returns only for occasional guest appearances. During the second season, Intelligent Analyst Nelly Jones joins the team, and forms an amazing team with Eric, until eventually the two of them become closer. during the remaining seasons a lot of people appears in the series, like Assistant Director Owen Granger, assigned to the team as oversight whit Hetty, who dies in season 8 after discovering he was ill with cancer (it coincide with real-life battle of the actor, Miguel Ferrer, who was ill with cancer and died). In season 9 Hetty goes to Vietnam on a personal mission, and her place is taken by Executive Assistant Director Pacific Shay Mosley, who is basically in search for revenge and almost get the entire team killed during a non-authorized operation. Later she sends the team and her trusted assistant, Special Agent Harley Hidoko, to Mexico, to rescue her son from her criminal ex-husband. the operation ends well, but her assistant remains killed during the op. The OSP is put under investigation and, at the beginning of the tenth season, Shay Mosley resigns. During season 11/12 Nell and Eric depart for the private sector, so the OSP recruited two rookies: Agents Fatima Namazi and Agent Devin Roundtree. Hetty leaves again so Admiral Hollace Killbride is assigned as Director of Special Operations in season 13. The series ends with Callen married to Anna, Kensi married to Deeks and finally pregnant, and Callen and Sam taking a side project mission to find and rescue Hetty, supported by a new team, including old teammates Nelly and Nate.
During the series:
Callen wants to figure out who his family was, because he grew up in foster homes. At some point he finds his father and his half sister, but their relationship is difficult.
Sam has to deal with the death of his wife, killed during a joined operation with CIA, leaving him with two children and a sense of guilt that never goes away.
Kensi and Deeks decide to adopt a girl from Mexico, and later they find out that Kensi is pregnant.
Hetty faces the difficulties of a life spent undercover.
In my opinion this series is one of the most tricky and challenging series i’ve ever watched. you want to watch episode after episode to discover what is going on. i literally devoured it, i liked it a lot. it’s worth the time you spend to watch it.
thank you so much for reading this review, i hope you like it and i hope you liked this series as i did!
SEE YA :)

last song: Mrs. Potter’s Lullaby by the Counting Crows
last movie: the George Clooney bat-nipples Batman movie from 1997, because I am currently fixating on Chris O’Donnell and look, it’s not good, but that’s what makes that movie fucking GREAT. I was entertained the ENTIRE TIME, just like I was when I was seven. AND I figured out by watching it that a certain movie quote that’s been stuck in my head for LITERAL YEARS was from that movie so...mystery solved!
last show: NCIS: Los Angeles, which is what kicked off the Chris O’Donnell hyperfixation. And look, like, his character is ridiculous. He didn’t have furniture in the house his boss-slash-surrogate mother bought him (that he also lived in with another family when he was in foster care), until his girlfriend bought him a dining room set right before they broke up. And TWO SEASONS LATER we find out said ex-girlfriend was a CIA agent the whole time and what does Callen do about it? Have a not-so-internalized freakout about all the lies (which, she didn’t know he was an undercover agent when they were starting out until she got involved in a case and he had to tell her so...pot-kettle) and...takes a fucking power saw to the dining room set to use as fireplace kindling and gets rid of all the REST of his furniture. You know, as one does.
currently watching: North Carolina’s basketball team is about to beat Florida State, because there are only so many college basketball games on on a Monday and not all of them are good.
currently reading: The third book in Bob Mayer’s Area 51 series, which I read when I was in high school and recently rediscovered.
current obsession: G. Callen and Nell Jones from NCIS: Los Angeles. I’m writing fic again. These two idiots have taken over my brain AND of course they’re a very tiny non-canon ship on the show, so the fandom is like...a tiny ass canoe at this point.
tagging: you! nine of you, out there on my dash. because i’m lazy. but it you!

Anything to tease about the big NCIS crossover? –Betty I binged all three hours just last night, and it is a lot of fun seeing agents from the D.C., Los Angeles and Hawaii offices get mixed and matched to hunt down POIs, squabble over seniority and, yes, even question (a most unlikely!) one of their own in an interrogation room. There’s some solid guest casting (namely, Robert Picardo, 24‘s James Morrison, Agents of SHIELD‘s Maya Stojan and House of Lies‘ Dawn Olivieri), a certain Gibbs “presence” in one sequence, a fun meeting between Sam and Kasie, a highly awkward scene involving Deeks and Torres, a nice team-up for Fatima and Lucy, and what I will call “a very satisfying audio Easter egg” for the fans of one of the three shows.
On NCIS: Hawai’i, will we get to meet Jesse Boone’s wife Heather and other kids this season?? –Carlynn In a note to Inside Line, the CBS drama’s producers said, “We will over time get to know more about Jesse, his kids and also his wife. Some of this will unfold in Season 2. And beyond.”

I’ve learned overtime that every TV show has a turning point where the atmosphere changes and in a way, the show itself is never the same again compared to how it used to be. I can’t really explain it, but I can give some prime examples...
The Vampire Diaries changed by Season 5.
NCIS: Los Angeles changed by Season 9.
Grey’s Anatomy changed by by Season 12.
NCIS changed by Season 11.
