My kickstarter collection for Phantomarine arrived today and it is everything and more.
I picked the Mantaluna reward system because I was instantly enamored and drawn to the Mantaluna pin. Normally, I don't go for pins and stickers because I'm notoriously bad keeping track of them (organizing them has been in my mind for a while, but due to circumstances, I can't do that right now, so I'll have to settle for keeping 'em safe until then and hope to God I remember where everything is), but I could not not own something so visually and elegantly pleasing to look at.
Tumblr media
I've also received a sticker sheet of best plesiosaurus, Jeff, one of the main cast and crew, and probably the one I will absolutely use the most: a double-sided bookmark. This one is greatly appreciated because I have a bad habit of using receipt paper or other loose leaves strewn for my books. Now I can have either Phaedra or the Cheth duos sticking out of my novels and ain't that just grand?

For the love of all that is holy, I don't remember how I discovered Phantomarine. All I can vaguely recall was that I was both drawn to the title ("Phantomarine" just sounds cool, ya know) and the oceanic visuals with its stunning red/blue color schemes (which I love so, so much.) I ended up staying for the aesthetics that I jam so hard with: Royals Who Do Something, aquatic flora and fauna, spooky scary skeletons, sexy ass antagonists (I am immensely pleased I got Cheth as the random doodle in my copy), and so much more.
It is tonally appropriate I received this so close to Halloween; it carries that feeling well, and while the series can be read year round, I feel it'd make an especially horror-filled treat during October.
Tumblr media
You can go read it online right now, it's still updating. Here's a link below. Go read it. Go. Make it an obligatory Halloween rec.

CLOW CARD BAG CLOW CARD BAG CLOW CARD BAG.
Kept my eye on this one for a while, and now it's here. Because CCS is only my favorite goddamn manga/anime and the mighty need for CLOW CARD BAG was unbelievably real.

He's here!!!!
Shovel Knight nendoroid is so teeny and cute, but that's just redundancy talking - SK's always been teeny and cute.
Shovel Knight comes with the usual extra pair of hands and legs, though for the life of me, I could not figure out how to attach the ones that have the thin pegs, even with the instruction manual.
I wanted to show off a pic of Shovel swinging his blade (complete with a "whoosh" wind piece you can attach to his weapon), but it was a pain in the ass trying to attach all the little parts together and balance him with the platform stands. He has an extra leg piece that I assume you can use to prop against the chest - which I would have loved to use - but it also has that thin peg I couldn't hash out where to stick in. Ahh well, maybe I'll take another shot at this later.
The treasure chest can open, so you could reasonably store something inside.
It's been amazing to see indie games finally getting their nendoroid due. I really hope this will sell well enough to draw interest for more SK nendos. I'll never have a Propeller Knight, but Specter Knight is very much possible and I desperately want a Nendo Specter so badly.
Even if it never happens, this is such a good, affordable Shovel Knight figurine to have in your room.

I don't like sportsball (or sportspuck in this case) and I've not really cared for high school/college coming-of-age story for well over a decade and a half on virtue of pushing forty...
So I think it's a testament to the author that she created a lovely, fun, and engaging webcomic in Check, Please. And it's not even really about hockey, but more the friends and interpersonal relationships you make with 'em. The hockey's still there, but it's not really about it and that suits me fine.
By the end of the comic's lifespan, I was basically all

He's here! I figured a second Specter Knight plushie was inevitable since Symbiote Studios made a Plague Knight one years after the original from ForFansByFans; depending on how different Specter would look from the first Specter plsuhie, I'd have been more than willing to double dip.
While First Edition Specter maintains a simplified, but no less adorable chibi-ish form, Symbiote Studio's Specter is more accurate to his default design and is a lankier boy at a full twelve inches (first pic of him looks super depressed, though who's really surprised here?)
I really appreciate the scythe can be attached to his back (ala magnet), so he can have his accessory with him without me wondering where to place it (and hope my ADHD ass does not forget where I stored it.)
In any case, both plushies are fantastic and I'm more than happy to welcome another version of my favorite garbage dumpster grim reaper dude into my home.
To my surprise, they gave me a free propeller rat with purchase! I didn't even ask for it, but I'll gladly take 'em!
The Specter plushie is on sale now. You can purchase him here.

Nothing is as adorably boxed and presented the way Hobonichi does it. ;_;

And on a final note on this particular subject matter, this finally arrived in my mailbox; a purchased decision brought about through a combined mixture of determination, justification, validation, exasperation, and a dash of pettiness - all for a character who deserved more.
Congrats, Miraculous Ladybug, you broke me down enough for me to buy one of your merch.

Heck yeah, Mina the Hollower glow-in-the-dark shirt has finally arrived.
Was very glad to hear this wouldn't be a con exclusive, and so I preordered it the minute it was available in-stores.
Technically, it's my first MOH merch (I say because I backed the Kickstarter roughly a year ago.)

I played Bug Fables too late to snag the physical copy when it initially released. Scours of ebay hunting later, I managed to stumble upon someone who not only had the limited edition, but gave me a discount because I had it on my watch list for a while. I would have been fine just buying a copy of the game, but the sale sealed the deal.
With the exception of the Vi plushie (which is not a loss for me), it’s got everything else. I don’t think I’m going to work on the papercraft cardboard model, so that’s neatly tucked into the box; the enamel pins are just neat; and the Spy Cards are lovely additional replica of the in-game card game (and this bitch loves in-game card games.)
The official soundtrack is also why I nabbed this version. I already own the OST digitally, but having a physical backup is absolutely, 100% a-okay with me. Owning a physical thing you love is a-okay with me and I’m ecstatic to finally possess a hands-on copy of this wonderful, wonderful game.
Anyone who is craving older Paper Mario games can do no wrong with Bug Fables. It’s exceptional, it’s incredibly meaty (way more than I thought an indie game would provide), oftentimes shocking, and just plain charming. I have no clue if Moonsprout Games plan to do more with this game or move on to other things, but color me piqued regardless.
