I have a HC that brozone had like stage parents like the kind of parents that only had kids so that they’re kids could do the child star thing and they could live vicariously through their kids success. and also so those kids could make a ton of money that the parents could live off of. Like the parents of the kids on toddlers in tiaras.

We know that JD took on the role of raising his younger brothers and that he saw himself as their main caretaker, but this is contrasted by the fact that his brothers don’t seem to see him as a parental figure and at least in the third movie seem to get annoyed and angry when JD tries to act like an authority figure in there lives. I interpret this as JD raised these kids but the parents were still around they were generally just uninvolved in their kids lives beyond the surface level bare minimum and shirked most of their responsibilities onto JD. In a JD did all the work but the parents took all the credit kind of way that led to JD simultaneously raising Bruce, Floyd and Clay without being a legitimate authority figure to them.

I also think that JD would not get baby branch involved in the band that young if he had a choice in that decision, both as someone who grew up in fame as a child star and knows how stressful and toxic that environment is and as a perfectionist who is very concerned with the bands performances going flawlessly. toddlers are messy and make mistakes and generally I don’t think JD would trust a toddler to perform to his standards and listen to him as a band leader during the performance. JD was stressed about the idea of baby branch being nervous and messing up the performance in the flashback I don’t think he would let him do it at all if it was his choice.

However I think that if brozone had toxic stage parents who decided to make baby branch join the band simply because he’s cute and marketable and would make them money then left all the actual logistics behind that move to JD to figure out that would fit with teenager JDs controlling, protective, and perfectionist character traits. Because people who feel like they truly have control over their lives and actually have the authority to make decisions in their life usually don’t micromanage everything and everyone they delegate. JDs controlling behavior fits more with a teenager who is desperately trying to cling to what little control he has in his life, which is the logistics of managing the band.

It's not a bad headcanon either. It would make sense.

I don't think I have a specific headcanon for canon Brozone and their parents, probably because I have shifted to aus but it would make sense. Especially with all the dark turns we see when it comes to children stars/actors/singers and their parents.

Kids... don't often see their older siblings as authority figures, even when they are. They don't always recognize that. Don't get me wrong, sometimes they do but often times they don't really. So I can absolutely see John taking on that role and the others never really seeing it, even when they get older. Absolutely I could see that. Their parents doing what they could to keep appearances but all the real stuff landed on him. It is a tough spot to be in when your siblings don't see you as an authority figure that you are trying to be/need to be.

I could see that too. Even though troll aging/maturing seems wildly unpredictable, strange and weird in comparison to human toddlers, I could see, if this concept was the case, John not wanting him to be involved. Not only because of their parents exploiting them but also the perfectionism thing. It's not that he doesn't love Branch, but well, who trusts a toddler for this type of thing?

If there was toxic stage parents (which I think if they had stage parents they would have to be toxic, there is no way that family ended up the way they did without that if this was the case) I think you would be onto something with Branch being involved. We all know that Rosiepuff said Branch's voice was like an angel's so if she thought that, chances were their parents did too.

JD's whole thing when he left was his frustration and that his brothers were a lot of responsibility and considering he can't be that old, I can understand that. Coupling with the fact that he's probably not seen much as an authority figure in this case, as well as the pressure and strain he was under with that set of types of parents... yikes. Talk about a recipe for disaster.

Losing control for someone who struggles with perfectionism and even just being overwhelmed with reasonability is a nightmare. If this was the case, my only surprise is that there wasn't a blowup sooner. Which in that case, the reason it probably went on for so long is because John is protective. He always has been (I will die on this hill cause there is no way after 20 years of radio silence JD picks himself up and hightails it to try and save his brother that he isn't wildly protective)

-Pony is the only one of the gang who vapes because of his crippling nicotine addiction. Curly makes fun of him for it but also steals them for him all the time

-Steve and Soda were those guys who act incredibly homoerotic all through middle school/junior high school because it’s ‘funny’, but are just officially dating and sickeningly sweet together by the time high school graduation rolls around

-Steve is as good at hacking phones as he is jacking cars

-Darry still uses WhatsApp. It’s the only way he messages Soda or Ponyboy when he needs to get ahold of them, and it drives them both up the wall.

-Curly and Ponyboy both listen to Soundcloud rappers unironically. Angela and Darry are both ready to commit homicide.

-Two-bit shoplifts pretty much exclusively from Walmart or other big corporations because fuck capitalism

-Curly and Johnny have one class together (its an elective and usually under enrolled so anyone can sign up) and the teacher made the mistake of seating them together. It took two days of class for Johnny to stab Curly with a pencil, and the teacher nearly fainted at the sight of it sticking out of his arm.

-The Shepards were a nickolodean/YTV household and the Curtis’ were a TVO kids household (and it shows)

-Darry has never seen SpongeBob and is one of those people who brag about it

-Two-bit often tries to ‘bring back vine’

-Curly once annoyed Ponyboy badly enough in class that he told him to ‘go eat a bag of dicks’ a little too loudly and they both got detention

-Soda watches tv on Darry’s Netflix account because he forgets to change it and Darry always gets PISSED because it fucks up his algorithm

-Steve downright refuses to do any tiktok/internet challenge ever and Soda will try pretty much any one he sees

-Pony and Johnny once made a tinder account for Darry as a joke. The still haven’t recovered from the aftermath of Darry finding out

Overall, I enjoyed the live action Avatar the Last Airbender. Do I wish the season had more episodes so storylines weren't so rushed? Yes. Do I think they missed out on some crucial character building because of it? Sure. Was there more violence? Yeah (you're not watching Nickolodean folks). But the casting was fantastic, and honestly, I think they added in some great emotional beats we didn't get to see before. If I wanted an exact scene for scene rehashing, I'd just go watch the OG animation. Which I probably will anyway lol. But I'm still hoping they give us more seasons of the live action. Here's hoping the internet's need to criticize and bash everything doesn't ruin that chance.

We all met up at the Mall of America so the kids could visit the Lego Store and ride the rides at Nickolodean Universe. Lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Yummy. More rides and shopping afterward.

Pete and kids had to leave this evening so we said our goodbyes this afternoon.

It's a right shame Zuko only joined the gaang like 8 episodes before the end bc can you imagine the scenes we couldve had. Nobody even got to make fun of him for being paler than the fucking parchment

Logically I understand that it works better for zuko’s arc if he joins the gaang at the very end and also nickolodean probably had them on tight deadlines and the pacing would have been way off if zuko had been with the gaang longer BUT ALSO where is my arc of zuko and sokka bonding over being sword fighters or all of them having a petty childish debate over which element is best or zuko becoming subtly jealous over sokka and katara’s relationship or or or or or

Alright, I want to talk about Disney Zombies and the new live action Monster High movie, because besides both being live action, I think these are supposed to be rival franchises, like Ever After High and Descendants.

And mainly what I want to talk about is the costuming. Monster High has great design and I'm glad that's translated over to the lice action. While some characters are a little hard to deciper (was that Deuce in the beanie???why didnt he have sunglasses???), overall they have fierce style, and even the extras look like monsters!

Versus Zombies, everyone just looks like people. The "zombies" have green hair, the "werewolves" have streaks of white, the "aliens" have blue hair. Each "monster" has its own look, but they also don't look like monsters. It's hard to understand why people are afraid of each other, and whole that is the message of the franchise, it makes some of the songs a bit weird. Like the werewolves sing about classic werewolf things, but it doesn't look like they have fangs, claws, fur, or tails! And they just become stronger with the moon? How are they connected to wolves again? Why not bears? Or tigers?

The Zombies monsters don't look like monsters even though each group has its own look. This is constant to Monster High, where each individual has their own look and looks like a monster. I personally find this interesting because I remember the days of yore when Nickolodean was the one with the kid movies that fell flat and Disney had the quality movies, but now it looks like it might be reversed.

Tales of Ba Sing Se Re-watch

Alright, I ain't even gonna lie to you guys this is yet another re-watch post made after a couple glasses of wine. I really don't have anything too deep to say about this episode though, it's just fun. This is also one of my most highly re-watched episodes so I don't even know why I re-watched it again for this re-watch. Just the completionist in me, I guess. But I literally do watch this episode all the fucking time lol it's a comfort episode for me & good background noise plus it's one of my sister's faves so she literally always has either this or 'The Beach' on.

(Yes I know my sister has good taste. Please comment about it so I can tell her. She is 12 & would be delighted & validated to know people on the internet think she has good taste.)

Already this post has gotten off track! I swear I used to be a party girl y'all I used to be able to drink anyone under the damn table at any time now literally only 2 glasses of red wine on a weeknight & I'm loopy lmao. Okay, what was I saying? What do I have to say about this episode? Look, basically, it's a slice of life & it's kinda like a fluffy fanfic to me. Like, it's not relevant to the plot but I love it so much. It's so important to me. Every show needs at least 5 episodes a season in this vein, I think that would fix modern TV I'm being completely serious.

Alright, so first of all the beginning is hilarious & precious. I just love all the kiddos getting ready in the mirror, & Toph being a hot mess who's ready to go & doesn't give a fuck about dirt.

Katara & Toph's segment is just so fucking cute.

I always completely forget until watching this episode how hard I used to ship Katara & Toph lol! Now I no longer ship them romantically but they have such an adorable friendship. I really love how Toph is hesitant at first but goes along with Katara's idea, & even sticks around after they touch her feet - the one thing she asked not to happen (don't blame you, baby girl, this is Nickolodean after all.) Toph freaking the attendant out with her silly mud mask face & making Katara laugh gets me grinning like a fool every time. I of course love Katara & Toph showing those mean girls what's what & sharing a soft moment. Best girls. I love them so much. Oh shit, the iconic behavior competition. They get +500 each for sending those mean girls down the river.

Alright & Iroh's adventure!!! Wow, I have like, nothing deep to say about it but I love it so much. I love Iroh helping people selflessly. The interaction with the would-be mugger is great. But the juxtaposition from Iroh singing to the crying kid on the street & singing as he plays tribute to Lu Ten.....I get emotional every time. Iroh's little tale says a lot about the way he interacts with the world around him & I love it <3 Also, +100 iconic behavior points for changing the mugger's life so easily.

Aang's adventure is funny but I have no deep analysis? Sorry guys I'm lacking in the deep analysis area right now. I mean, there's not much to say. It's entertaining. I'm a little confused about how there can be a zoo outside the walls of Ba Sing Se? Isn't it....kinda tricky to get in & out? I don't...ok.....anyway...

Sokka's adventure is hilarious. I love the slam poetry moment. But I don't have much to analyze there other than "haha funny."

Zuko!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if you guys knew this about me, but I love Zuko. I know, I know, shocking. I love Zuko's little date with Jin. I saw the headcanon that Iroh purposefully made Zuko's hair into a 'do that would cause any girl with any sense to immediately ruffle it & that's just so cute, I totally read it that way from now on. "Zuko can't lie" as a character trait will forever be important to me. Zuko juggling even though he can't juggle will never not be funny & endearing. But I have to tell you guys, I was joking with some of you about how "Zuko has no game" before but like.....if u think about it Zuko did get a girl fully simping over him & trying desperately to get a lil kiss on the lips DESPITE his consistent fumbling so I MEAN. Say what you will but Jin was into him.

Also, I remember the first time I watched this episode I could not focus on anything else after Zuko lit the lanterns 'cause I was STRESSED. I was certain Zuko had given him & Iroh away.

Momo's segment just makes me sad 'cause it reminds me what episode is next & my heart is not ready.....

Also unrelated but kind of related... there was an episode from the show "All That" that someone posted where this little boy is in a deep sleep on a couch, so these 2 other little boys pour some thick, white stuff on his face. The little boy still doesn't wake up, so they say "in situations like these I always think 'what would P. Diddy do?'", so they go and ask Diddy and he tells them to put a toy helicopter down the boys pants and he gives them a remote that goes with the helicopter. What kind of kid's show is that smh
