the thing about generally-accepted broad fanon batfam dynamics is that even if you disregard the complete stripping of all nuance in order to make a perfectly nuclear family with no lasting or significant conflict etc etc, half of it is all just built on vaguely (or explicitly) racist stereotypes anyway, like .......... ah yes the little half arab boy is a violent feral gremlin who can't fit in with refined polite society. the half east asian girl is the golden child who never speaks and is good at everything and has no flaws because she's the favorite who holds the family together. the romani one is a slut. LIKE. okay...!

When Robin was first introduced, she had been working with Crocodile in Alabasta for the past several years, so I could understand her skin tone being a little lighter than it used to be, but not this bad.
It's extremely fucked up. I would understand the "it was an animation error" argument if it wasn't because it happens with all the characters (not only Robin) and they're whiter and whiter each episode (even the characters that should be black).
If we follow irl reasoning as you say, then all of them should be tanned because they're pirates. They're constantly under the sun. But no, they go backward and instead, they lack melanin every episode. It was already bad, but Egghead fucked up big time.
And don't get me started on Usopp because people could use that excuse on any other character, but Usopp?? I truly, really, don't think it takes too much thinking to get that he's black and Toei just keeps making him paler than Sanji. It's ridiculous and racist and people who ignore it or say it's been talked "too much" (because people say it and apparently there's a limit for them as to how much you can complain about racism) always get on my nerves.
What Toei is doing is just disgusting and people defending it are always the ones who refuse to see any mistakes in the things they like. News flash! You can like something and admit it has mistakes.

i feel like my insides are being positively gouged out thinking about the fact that in a literal sense. izzy is right. it'd be so easy to just see him as an asshole who makes things worse for no reason and he DOES but also. stede is a distraction. he is making ed vulnerable, and in their profession, vulnerable could very easily equal dead. the first thing ed does when he finds out about stede is lead his crew into an unnecessary raid against a spanish naval vessel, losing several men. then he dicks around playing dress up and pulls a plan together by the skin of his teeth at the last moment that FAILS. he lost track of the calendar and fucked up. it's only by some very lucky bullshit they even survive. from izzy's perspective, stede has instantly become a very dangerous force in ed's life, he's a threat. not directly, sure. and it's not like izzy always has ed's best interest at heart either, but quite literally. izzy is correct. he's a bad influence. he's making ed. not weak necessarily but. unfocused. you can't even be mad at him for wanting ed to give up on him because piracy is life or fucking death. and the only thing they've done since stede's been a part of their life is be in more danger than they needed to be.

love ALL sibs confrontation of logan in all the bells say but roman’s kicked puppy syndrome always makes me wanna cry like i think ken, and shiv especially, knew in the car that they were gonna have to shield him in there and you can see him crumble immediately when logan singles him out to manipulate (and OF COURSE he would since rome is the weakest when it comes to logan) but they have his back and keep him grounded and even though they do lose and even though roman stands up to his father in the gentlest way possible it’s still so satisfying to see. i was so proud of him. he should’ve slapped him as well but baby steps. also that might have killed logan so maybe not. i’m sorry to kendall but ur brother took the babygirl of the year award from you la la land moonlight style. that may be an unpopular opinion i know kendall is the fandoms resident babygirl, but to me he’s a bit too irritating and embarrassing to be babygirl level endearing. he has his moments though for sure.

16, 20, and 21 <33 CHOOSE VIOLENCE SEN
THANK YOU FOR ENCOURAGING THE VIOLENCE MY DEAR <333
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
and we're back for another one! i don't understand the popularity of ooc steddie fics. we are in a time where the steddie tag on ao3 is contuniously being put on lists of having the most works. we are being fed but people are still choosing the tired piece of unseasoned boiled chicken that is the homophobic mischaracterization of steve and eddie????
LIKE FUCK i know so many steddie writers on here that write beautiful pieces, churning out masterpiece after masterpiece of character studies in the form of these two falling in love despite their circumstances, and giving these characters their flowers as they are! as they were given to us! just beautifully expanding on their characters and without nixing most if not all of what makes them who they are!
but for some reason the ones that gain popularity and notoriety are the ones where not only am i thinking:
"HE WOULD NOT SAY THAT"
but also
"HE WOULD NOT DO THAT!!!!"
FUCK!!!! you know what, because of that i am feeling inspired to make a fic rec list again! fuck it!
20. part of canon you found tedious or boring
the entire Russia plot in st4. i tend to fastforward through most of it when i'm doing a rewatch (the only scenes i watch are jopper kiss and the final fight scene lol)
21. part of canon you think is overhyped
billy hargrove.
🔥 choose violence ask game 🔥

[Transcript: “David Wark Griffith (January 22, 1875 – July 23, 1948) was an American film director and white supremacist. Considered one of the most…” /end transcript]
obsessed with the way dw griffith’s wikipedia page begins. usually you have to scroll down a bit to see a famous director was unbelievably racist. thank you wikipedia editors for letting us know right up front
