AkaYona Week Day 2: (generals, royalty)
February 9th, Monday
The next day Kija caught up with Yona and the others at school. He handed her a crisp white envelope that was stamped with a heart shaped crest in red wax. On the back, written in sparkling red ink, read “to my Valentine.”
“Hey are you sure you’re not in love with Soo-won yourself?,” asked Jae-ha.
Kija blushed, “Of course not! I was trying to make it look like it was done by Yona’s hands!”
Yona bit her lip, “oh I thought I was going to be able to read it before the council meeting.”
“Oh yeah, I forgot, sorr-“ Kija was just about to take the envelope back and open it for her before Vice Principal Joo-doh came around the corner and started yelling at students to get to class. It was already 5 mins before home room and usually the teachers would close the doors on the dot, a rule enforced by Joo-doh himself. Anyone caught after that received automatic detention, and everyone knew he loved giving those out.
Yona gave him the envelope and hurried to her home room with Yoon. The rest of their friends scattered in different directions to their classrooms not wanting to receive the ire of Joo-doh.
*******
It was late morning when Soo-won and Kye-sook caught up to Kija in the locker room. After gym period he usually would have a free block to study before joining his friends for lunch at noon. He was hoping to let Yona read the love letter at that time.
“Good morning, Kija!” Soo-won said in his usual cheerful self.
“Morning,” quipped Kye-sook, his sullen face in juxtaposition to his friend’s.
Su-won continued, “we just want to let you know we’re having the student council meeting next period. Something came up after school and I have an obligation to one of my other clubs. I hope you can make it?”
“Ohh .. next period huh?” Kija stammered. “Uhh ..”
“I’m sorry if it’s such short notice, Kija. I can catch you up on the main topics later if you can’t make it.”
“Oh no, it’s ok,” he laughed, mentally shaking the nervousness away. “I can definitely make it, I’ll see you there!”
“Great,” Soo-won smiled, “see you there!”
He left with Kye-sook in tow, himself muttering a barely intelligible “later.”
Kija sighed, he was really hoping for Yona to read the letter before he sneaked it into Soo-won’s folder. This meeting couldn’t be taking place at the most inconvenient time! He was mulling over whether or not to give it today or at a later date but stopped himself when he remembered Yona’s words about not having too much time left to tell him. He did tell Yona that he was going to help her and he was going to see his plan through. He picked up his cellphone and shot Yona a text before heading to the council meeting.
*******
Yona sat down in her usual spot during lunch break, she was famished and the previous gym period made her even more so. But In a way she felt like she couldn’t eat anything until she read the letter that Kija made for Soo-won, so much so that she could barely concentrate during her morning classes. While she waited for her friends and especially Kija to join her she checked her cellphone for any text messages she might’ve received while at gym and immediately her eyes went wide:
[Kija: hey Yona, the council mtg is rescheduled for next period. SW had to cancel this afternoon. Gonna give him the letter then.]
The read receipt for the text had been right after her gym period started so she wasn’t able to read it then. That means .. she thought .. that he must’ve already done it! Her stomach was in knots, she had to find out right away.
She saw Hak, Jae-ha, and Zeno walking towards her with their trays and before they sat down, she asked them if they saw Kija and they shook their heads no before devouring their meals.
Shin-ah and Yoon came afterwards and they shook their heads as well, with Sin-ah saying he hasn’t seen him since their own gym period.
Yona started to worry about her friend before he appeared and slumped into the seat next to Yoon on the far end of the table and laid his head there not saying a word.
“Kija, what happened?,” Yona came to sit across from him, she had to know why he looked so despondent.
“It happened so fast ..” he started, “The letter .. your letter for Soo-won .. I slipped it into his meeting folder before the start of the meeting. But Tae-jun .. he picked them up to hand them to everybody and he tripped, ughh .. well naturally Soo-won helped him pick the folders up and .. long story short it looks like Tye-sook ended up with it. I’m so sorry Yona ..”
Yona stared at him mortified, she was worried that he used her name in the letter and of all people, Tye-sook?! But she watched Kija looking defeated in front of her and she couldn’t bring herself to be angry. She knew he went out of his way to write it and even if it wasn’t sent to the right person she couldn’t hold him to it.
She smiled and patted Kija’s head, “it’s ok, I guess I wasn’t meant to confess to him that way.”
He looked up, “again I’m so sorry Yona, I’ll think of another idea .. and don’t worry I didn’t use your name in the letter so if and when Kye-sook reads it, he won’t know who it’s from.”
Hak laughed, “that guy is lucky he’s getting anything for Valentine’s Day from anyone, so you did him a solid, Kija.”
“He doesn’t seem like the type of person to respond well to a love letter,” Yoon said over his laptop.
“Well, we’ll see what he does with it,” Jae-ha said, finishing his food, “as for Yona and her confession, I think I have something else in mind that might work. And it’s a little over the top and not subtle like Kija’s letter.”
Hak narrowed his eyes, “just what are you planning?”
“Relax, Hak .. Yona doesn’t have to do anything. And it involves the other club I’m in and a few kids you might know.”
******
Kye-sook took his folder out of his bag. He had just finished lunch and wanted to look over the topics of the council meeting. He was annoyed at Soo-won for rescheduling the meeting earlier and more annoyed at the constant noise in the cafeteria. He sat by himself almost everyday, but he felt surrounded by imbeciles. Graduation at the end of the year couldn’t come fast enough for him and before he meant to get up and go someplace quieter, a white envelope fell out of his folder. Surprised, he picked it up and ran his finger over the red seal and curled his top lip at the sparkling writing. Ripping the envelope open, he started reading it:
“I hope this letter reaches you well. I’ve been very hesitant to tell this to you but I feel like I don’t have a lot of time to tell you how I feel. We’ve known each other for so long and I need to tell you that I’m in love with you. I can’t hide my feelings for you anymore and I know you may not feel the same, but telling you means so much to me already. On Valentine’s Day, I’m going to reveal myself to you and confess to you in person.”
Kye-sook was floored. He read the letter over and over and felt his heart beating. Who must it be, he wondered? He thought back to the council meeting. The letter fell out of his folder so it could be someone who touched them before the meeting. He knew Tae-jun the klutz tried to pass them out and tripped over himself but everyone knew he was hopelessy in love with the Principal’s daughter and Soo-won picked them up and handed one to him .. Soo-won ..
He immediately blushed. It couldn’t be .. could it? Could Soo-won have slipped the letter in the folder before giving it to him? He realized they have known each other for a long time, since elementary school in fact, and they spend a lot of time together studying for the same classes and managing the council. And it would make sense that the letter mentioned not having much time .. they were both graduating at the end of the year .. could something be there between them that he didn’t see before?
Kye-sook shook his head and brought himself back to reality. He didn’t have time to figure out the author of the letter, he was working hard to be Valedictorian of the class. If it was Soo-won .. or anyone else, he’d have to find out on Valentine’s Day, as sickening as it might be.

A/N: Here we go again
Trigger warning: non-con kissing, possessiveness, yandere-themes, slight cheating. Please do not read if you are sensitive to these topics.
“Ugh… Why do I have to stand next to you?” You groaned, rolling your eyes as you impatiently waited for both of your names to be called. “I thought they sorted us by grade average.” You muttered.
“Uhh, excuse me?” The offended voice replied.
“I said-” You started.
“Park Jimin and Y/n L/n!”
Jimin wrapped his arm around yours, dragging you up from your seat and onto the stage. The bright lights from the auditorium ceiling filled up the entire room as rows of graduates watched the ongoing ceremony.
The routine was simple. Each pair were based off an order that the college had sorted. You were to walk up together to receive your diplomas. It just so happened that you were paired up Jimin.
Jimin stood in front of you, bowing down as he held onto his diploma with both hands. He gave a bright smile, shaking the principal’s hand before exiting down the steps. You waited behind him, your graduation gown flowing behind you as you accepted your diploma. The tassel on your graduation cap swayed back and forth in the air with every step you took.
The whole room was quiet, with the only sounds coming from the shutter of cameras and the shuffling of feet. You returned back to your seat beside Jimin, ruffling out the polyester neatly. Jimin scoffed next to you as he watched your neat freak habit. It only earned him a light jab of your elbow. You smirked, whispering in the quiet auditorium.
“You deserved that.”
“I didn’t know you were a sadist, y/n.” Jimin quietly spit, holding onto his side even though he wanted to whisper curses out at you.
“Can you just shut up until the ceremony ends, you big mouth?” You snapped back, Jimin’s antics slowly flustering you.
“You know what else is big-”
“I said, shut up, Park Jimin.”
Your little quarrel was cut to an end as you were directed to stand up. For some unknown reason, the graduates were shuffled out of the auditorium and onto the outside turf.
As each row lined up with their partner beside them, the valedictorian stood at the podium. The valedictorian was decorated with a distinctive cord that stood out, unlike the rest. The outfit was somewhat altered from the rest. It showed off the prestige and prized student of the school, striking gold and white that stood out from the black and gold of all the other graduates.
You looked up at the valedictorian as he waited for all the students and parents to settle down in their new seats. Yoongi stood at that podium, his face expressionless but decorated from head to toe with an embroidered stole. The sleeves of his graduation robe fell past his hands as he stood upright. He held an authoritative stance as he stared over all the students. When his eyes met yours, he gave you a slight smirk before averting his gaze. You looked down embarrassed, earning Jimin’s gaze from the corner of his eye.
Since when did Yoongi have that sort of demeanor. I’ve never seen him so… confident and assertive before?
Yoongi’s voice broke you from your thoughts as he started a countdown, speaking directly into the mic that echoed throughout the field..
“On one, we all throw our caps. Ready?”
The crowd of students roared, bringing their hands up to their caps.
“5!”
The crowd repeated after him.
“4!”
Parents brought up their cameras and phone ready to take the most important shot.
“3!”
Your grip tightened.
“2!”
People’s faces looked as if they were going to explode in energy.
“1!”
The graduates exploded in a loud cry as hundreds upon hundreds of caps were thrown into the air. You joined in, watching as your cap joined and mixed with everyone else's. A joyous feeling filled up your whole body as you stared up at all the caps in the air.
To you, it was a beautiful moment of your life that reflected your accomplishments and freedom. How you wished you could freeze this moment in time. In a few seconds, this moment in your life will never happen again. Once it reached the end, then, that moment will cease to exist for you.
And the caps came crashing down. They dropped down, hundreds of black caps with golden tassels. You reached your arms up, hoping to at least catch one of them. The official ceremony was over and you cheered, ready for the celebration. Jimin gave you a bright smile as he still remained next to you, his eyes gleaming as the sun began to set, casting a beautiful orange and peach glow over the entire field.
You looked back at the podium as Yoongi looked sweetly at all the graduates, his head perched upon his hand. His cheeks stuck out as he closed his eyes. For once in his life, he enjoyed the screams that echoed throughout the spacious field and the light breeze that blew the strands of hair from his head. When he opened his eyes again, they immediately met yours, giving you a warm smile, a few of his gums and teeth sticking out.
“I’m so happy, y/n.” Yoongi had told you that day, brushing your hair behind your ear. You both stood in front of each other, a hand interlocked with each other.
Jimin looked over at the pair from off in the distance, his gaze solemn as he stared in envy. On the other hand, your parents waved their hands earning your attention as you ran up to them and gave them a big hug.
“Congratulations our little baby, y/n!” Your mother squealed, tightly hugging you back.
“We’re proud of you, y/n.” Your father smiled at you, before giving a small wave to Yoongi who sheepishly gave one back. As your mother released you, she looked over at Yoongi who was obviously standing out with his white and gold.
“Congratulations on being valedictorian. I bet your parents would be proud.” She patted his shoulder before giving him a thumbs-up.
“Ah... Thank you…” He mumbled before giving a small bow.
If they were really proud of me, why aren’t there here?
“Okay, okay, both of you huddle in for a picture.” She gestured the two of you to move closer together. Hundreds of other families were with their sons and daughters, all taking pictures of the celebration. You gave a bright smile, holding up a peace sign up in your right hand as your other arm wrapped around Yoongi’s back.
“C’mon, Yoongi. Smile! Smile wide!” Your mother urged. When she looked back at the picture, she gave a short shake of her head. “You’re not smiling, Yoongi.”
“It’s alright. I’m happy.” Yoongi replied, bunching up the polyester in his hand. “I’m smiling on the inside.” He forced a grin, looking down at the cut turf.
“Mom, I’m going to take pictures with my profs. I’ll be back!” You called, walking away from the trio and sprinting off. Yoongi nervously watched as you ran off, all alone by himself with your parents.
If only he had brought a surgical mask for this occasion. Just the idea of slapping one on felt relaxing. It would at least soothe some of the pressure and anxious feelings he felt in his stomach. The only physical barrier he relied on for protection was not there when he needed it.
“So Yoongi… Let’s chat, shall we?” Your mother smiled.
Yoongi furrowed his eyes as he stared at both your parents.
“What’s there to talk about?” He asked.
Your mother shook her head in disbelief.
“Yoongi, you’re the valedictorian. You aren’t dumb. I bet you know exactly what we’re about to talk about.” She took a pause before continuing. “Do you love her?”
“Would my answer matter?” He retorted. “If you were in my shoes and were forced to answer this question, what would you think? Like you said, it wouldn’t be wise of me to say that I didn’t to the family that practically forced my family. But hey, I’ll humor you since it’s obvious how I feel.”
“If it’s so obvious, then why don’t you tell us?” Your mother challenged. “Surely, you feel something. After all, I’ve, we’ve, watched you for years. That look in your eyes didn’t seem fake to us.”
“First of all, if something’s obvious, what’s the point of saying it at all?” He questioned. “Though, maybe this will help. It’s none of your business.”
With that, Yoongi turned away, stomping away in frustration as he went to look for you.
---
“Cheese!”
You walked around aimlessly in the crowds of people, searching from some peers and professors. The sun had set, and the orange sky had been replaced with a much darker blue. The illuminating field lights shone brightly, green and yellow hues reflecting off it. As you pushed past a huddle of students, you bumped into Jimin.
“Oh… It’s you.”
“Jeez, does everyone hate me or something?” Jimin muttered. “Did you at least finish taking pictures with everyone?”
“Not yet. No…” You looked back at Jimin, his stance stiff and awkward. “Are you going to leave now?”
“Ah… Yeah, I was thinking about it.” He mumbled, folding his arms in front of his chest.
“But why? Don’t you want to celebrate with everyone?”
“I don’t really have anyone though y/n.” He uttered softly, staring at the happy faces of graduates. “Isn’t it weird how this is supposed to be happy? Why don’t I feel the same way as them?”
Jimin stared at you. His heart ached as he looked into your eyes. Why did you have to look at him with such sadness and pity? He had watched you before as you busied yourself, conversing with others while he stood in the crowd of people, but without anyone.
Despite knowing so many people, the truth was he had no one. The pain of not having you for what he wanted and the misery of his own love, something he should never have felt the need to be ashamed of, choked him. It gripped him down like a vice, cutting off further advancements.
It was that spur of the moment that made him want to confess everything to you. To tell you about his struggles and the battles he had to face alone. He wanted to cry and hold onto you, spilling out how much he just wanted to feel free. Why did he have to be so unhappy? Depression and dysphoria. But he just stared and followed you around, watching as you looked for more people, your feet carrying you wherever you could.
As you reached the end of the field, the lights no longer shone as bright, not being able to reach far enough. The grass was much darker and it was much difficult to make out of the faces of the people around you. You looked from side to side, pouting.
“Y/n…”
You turned around when you heard Jimin, who only looked straight down at his feet.
“Hmm?”
Jimin walked closer to you, his face filled with desperation.
“What’s wrong, Jimin?” Are you not feeling well?”
“Please don’t hate me for this…”
Jimin brought his lips down, a soft connection built, so much different than all the kisses he had given out his entire life. It was not rough or needy, but it was delicate. Your skin was so delicate and soft, it would surely burn away in the harsh rays of the sun. There was something in his kiss that you could not explain. All that he could not say was placed in it. It yearned for hope, affection, and understanding.
Even though it was a split second with both of your lips connected, you felt moved. You would’ve broken away the millisecond you felt him on you, but it was like you let him. It was an indescribable emotion you felt. It was something telling you to listen to him because of the overwhelming compassion the kiss was filled with.
“W-what…” A voice came out from behind you.
Your eyes widened as you pushed Jimin off, wiping your wet lips with the back of your gown.
“Please forgive me, y/n.” Jimin sobbed silently. “I really tried not to fall in love with you.”
As you turned around, you were met with the face of Yoongi, who had just witnessed everything that had happened.
“D-did you just…” His voice quivered as he left his bangs cover his eyes.
“W-wait, Yoongi! I can explain. I didn’t kiss him. I didn’t! He kissed me!” You whimpered out.
“W-why didn't you break away from him then?” He interrogated. “There was a slight second... where you melted in it before pulling away.”
“Yoongi, are you blaming me for something that was initiated against me?!”
In a burst of anger, Yoongi pointed accusingly at the man behind you.
“I knew he was up to no good. He lied to me. I knew it all along! You were trying to steal her away from me! You promised me you were okay with whatever you had with her before, and once you weren’t! You thought it was okay to take her away from me?!”
“Y-yoongi, take deep breaths. You have to calm down. People are starting to look over here and stare.” You panicked, reaching out your hands.
“Then let them stare! Don’t tell me to calm down. I have every right to be angry right now!” He shouted, sending a hateful glare at Jimin.
Yoongi grabbed onto the Jimin, feeling a great urge to throw him onto the ground. But his actions faltered as he paused, his hand just tightly gripping onto the collar of his gown. He released him, turning away, his white robe fluttering behind him.
“Y/n, let’s go. We’re leaving.” He ordered.
“O-okay.”
Yoongi dragged you away, out of the turf and into your dormitory building. It was completely empty as you walked in, punching your security code and listening to the snap of the lock granting access in. As soon as the two of you made it in the room, Yoongi slammed the door shut, cornering you until your back hit the cold wood.
“I think you owe me something, y/n.”
“I-i’m sorry, Yoongi.”
“I am so ridiculously furious right now. I’m mad at him and disappointed in you.” His fingers caressed your bottom lip forcefully, his eyes boring straight into you. “These are mine, do you understand?”
“Yoongi… You’re scaring me right now…” You mumbled, chills running down your back.
Without another word, Yoongi crushed his lips onto yours, pushing your back onto the cold wood that you could barely stand up. It was so much different than any of the other kisses you had shared. You never felt so scared before.
It was intense and needy, desperation taking over as if he was going to lose you. Or as if he had already lost you.
They were right. Your parents were always right. He had always loved you. He loved and pinned after you for the longest time. Yet, when your family announced they had picked his family he felt somewhat betrayed. Now, many years of his buildup emotions no longer matter. He was supposed to love you. He had no choice but to love you. Those past emotions did not matter anymore in the eyes of the adults. All that matter was how he felt now and it destroyed him inside. Nobody would believe him if he had said he loved you since he was a child.
“Of course he's in love with her. He's a puppet.”
He was supposed to show you true love, build it up and continuously stack it until it was completed. He knew he would never lose even if they had picked someone else. After all, he would’ve done anything to his power to make sure you were his and his alone. You belonged to him.
As Yoongi continued to press his lips against yours, you whimpered out in fear. You had never seen this kind of behavior before. He released himself from your lips but pulled down the collar of your robe to expose your neck. You felt a sting of pain as Yoongi sucked and bit it.
“Ow!” You flinched, feeling a sharp pain as a small bit of blood escaped from your skin.
Inside, your mind felt dizzy. You had indeed betrayed him and yet, this didn’t feel right. This surely wasn’t right. Were you supposed to be treated like this?
Your feelings were disregarded and you had to make things up to him because of what had transpired. It seemed unfair to you that any of your complaints that you voiced out did not matter.
As he separated his lips from your skin, he stared into your eyes, his forehead resting on yours.
“I’m never letting you go. You will never leave me.”

Better With You
Summary
Y/n a great ballet dancer, Jihoon an amazing hip hop dancer. Both are on their school's dance team, and both are top tier dancers. Except, Jihoon HATES the sight of Y/n and vice versa. The two can't stand being in the same room with each other until they are forced to. The next school dance competition is coming, and both were forced to compete as a duet. Oh, did I mention their both total opposites?
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: Cursing

moodboard // twt profiles // Part 1 //
I was packing my dance bag when suddenly I was knocked over from behind. Already knew who the culprit was, so I took my pointe shoe and launched it in the direction of where that person was walking. Just barely missing his head. “PARK JIHOON! WHY DON'T YOU WATCH WHERE YOU'RE WALKING NEXT TIME!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. I hated this guy, he’s so fricking cocky. He really thinks he's the best when he REALLY isn’t. There are way more talented people on the team.
Jihoon then picked up my shoe, dug his heel into the ground and turned to face me. Then suddenly he threw my shoe right back at me, hitting me in the arm. “WHY DON'T YOU, LEARN WHERE TO PROPERLY PUT YOUR SHOE!” He hissed.  “Why don't you WATCH where your throwing.” I walked up to the boy with slightly damp hair, indicating he just came from practice. I took him by the collar and yanked him closer to my face, while he mirrored me. “Jihoon!” “Y/n!”
Suddenly, my younger brother Yeongue, my best friend Yeorum, Yedam and Yoonbin; Jihoons friends came to pull us apart. “Sis, stop not here..” Yeongue pleaded. “He's right Y/n, come let's go,” Yeoreum added. “But HE started it.” I whined. “I started, more like YOU started it.” Jihoon scoffed. “Dude come let's go….” Yoonbin pulls Jihoon towards the exit.
Suddenly the tall boy broke away from his friends, coming at me with hands ready to be thrown. While I did the same. As our friends scramble to break us up.
~~~~~~~
“Mr. Park, Ms. Kim. You know why I’ve called you both here today, right?” Silence. “If it were up to me I would have you both suspended.” He sighs. Both of us tense up. I tightened my grip on my pants when suddenly I felt a hand over mine. I take a peek under the table, it was Jihoons. I glance over at the boy next to me, he didn't seem phased at all, eyes were focused on the principle. “But, since you guys are apart of our beloved dance team, so I won't. Instead, you must compete as a duet in the upcoming competition.”
Our eyes shot open. By this time Jihoon lets go of my hand. “B-but Mr. Yang I can't work with her, she's a complete snob.” “And I can't work with him he's way to cocky.” “Well, guess you have to make due. You two are dismissed.” He bluntly states, leaving both of us in complete utter shock. I can't believe this actually happening.
Both of us exited the principal's office.
I sprinted to the dance room, bursting into our dance captains office, Jihoon shortly trailing in after. “Herin, PLEASE tell me you’ll talk to the principal and convince him to pull me out of this duet” I whine. “This isn’t fair she’s too uptight to work with.” Jihoon shoots his hand up pointing towards me, pouting. “Hey!!”
“I was the one who suggested it.” She said nonchalantly. Our jaws fell open. I can't believe she would suggest such a thing.
“HERIN!” “I am aware that both of you hate each other, but I am also aware that both of you are the best dancers this school has. And with both of you competing, I am positive we can secure a win. And I also know both of you will do anything to win, am I right.” She clasps her hands together.
“Yes….” We mumble. “Glad I made my reason clear.” Jihoon leaves her office first, clearly resentful to the idea. Why of all days, why now why do this me, what have I done. Besides the fact, I fight with him all the time. I hated the idea of having to work him, our styles, so different how would this duet work? How would we work?
“Y/n.” I turned around. “Yes, Herin?” “I know you don't like this idea but, believe me, working with him will make you a stronger dancer.” Herin puts a hand on my shoulder. “Yeah, right.” I say sarcastically brushing her hand off and walking out of her office.
“They'll thank me later.”
~~~~~~
I walk back into the change room, as I forgot to pick up the pointe shoe that Jihoon chucked back at me when I hear pop music coming from one of the smaller dance rooms.
I decided to sneak a peek at who was dancing in the room. So I tiptoed my way to the door frame and opened the door enough for me to see who was dancing. To my surprise, it was none other than Jihoon.
I stand there watching his every move, every turn, and every facial expression. This was my first time to see him dance, well not first time but you know what I mean. His movements were so strong, so fluid, filled with so much emotion. I have to admit, he was good. No extremely good, I guess he is worthy of “the best dancer” title.
I stood there for what seems like forever until he was finished his set. Sweat drops forming on his forehead, his dark hair, damp from the sweat. He stood there trying to catch his breath. Dare I say, he kinda looks good. None the less he really was an amazing dancer.
“Cat got your tongue?” A voice spoke. “W-what the fuck- no. I was just passing by.” Lie. It was Yoonbin one of Jihoons friends. “Hmm, sure. Jihoon is a good dancer, ya know.” Yes, he was. “I mean, he could use more work but.” “Yoonbin? I that you? Whos there?” It was Jihoon, I can't let him find me here. “Shit, I wasn't here, got it?” I glare at Yoonbin. With that, I hid behind one of the lockers.
I peek behind to see what was happening. Jihoon walks out of the room, running his hands through his dark locks. “Was there someone with you.” He looks around the room. “Nope, just me.” Thank god. “I saw your dance, powerful as always.” Yoonbin complements. “Thanks, Bin just getting my anger out.” “Hmm?” “Y/n and I are the duet for the competition, by force.” He sighs. “Hey, at least your working with one of the best.” He pats is back. “Sure. Make sure your movements are sharp. AGAIN.” He mocks. First of all, I do not sound like that. Second of all, he isn't the only one sulking about this. But we need to suck it up for the sake of the team.
~~~~~~
“So noona, what happened in there.” My brother questions. “I'd rather not say.” “Oh come on, I'm sure it isn't something bad.” He pesters. “If you call, me and Jihoon the duet for the competition, “not bad” then I have no clue what is.” I complain. Silence. I turn to face my brother. His mouth agape. “What?’’ “ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS, MY SISTER AND HER SWORN ENEMY, IN THE SAME DUET. WE’RE DOOMED. THERE GOES OUR WIN!” He whines. I could not believe what just unfolded in front of me. “Listen here you brat, I’m sure the both of us can find a way to work things out.” I say with no confidence in my voice what so ever.
“Hmm, sure.” Yeongue crosses his arm. I smack him in the head lightly. “Come on, let's get home before I beat your ass.” “What!?! What did I do?” He whines. “Everything, that's what you did.” “Hmph…. What's for dinner.” “We’ll see.”
~~~~~~
I was sitting at my desk doing my homework when I heard my text tone went off.
‘Y/n, I have a good feeling there is no way we can get out of this, meet me at the studio at XXXX address, so we can TRY to work on this. -jihoon’
I didn't want to deal with this at the moment. So I simply ignored it.
‘Ik you saw this Y/n as much as I don't wanna work with you, the captain is right I will do will anything to win. Ik you would do anything too, so pls’
‘Ps I got ur number from ur bro:)’
I ran my hand through my hair and responded.
‘What if I said no?:)’
‘Come on Y/n… don't you wanna win?’
‘...fine as long as you pick me up’
‘Fuck no.’
‘Then consider this duet, through’
I saw the familiar three dots appear, signaling that he was thinking about it
‘Fine, be ready in 15’
‘XXX, the address’
I leaned back in my chair and sighed. I can not believe this is actually happening. I gathered the rest of my pride to get my stuff together. I packed my bag with pointe shoes, got dressed and headed downstairs. “And where are you going?” Yeongue questioned. “None of you business traitor.” I glared plopping on the couch. “I literally breathed what did I do?” “You gave him my number that's what you did” “Huh, oh what was I supposed to do? Say “Sorry, she doesn't have a phone” When ur literally on it 25/8.” He talks back.
“And where did you learn that sass from?” I question. “Learned from the best.” He makes a face at me. I return the favor.
My phone rings.
“I'm, outside come out loser.”
“Whatever.”
I hung up the phone. “Call me when mom gets home, or if she doesn't, kay.” “Yup, now be nice.” He mocks. “I am.”
I head out the door. And I come face to face with Jihoon and his Audi. “Get in.” He demands. And I comply. The whole ride there was silence. This was the first he and I have been alone together, not counting the times we were in detention. I sat there silently in the passenger seat looking out the window. While looking out the window I remembered, how Jihoon had his hand over mine in the principal's office.
“So.” I started. “Back in the office, uhh why did you hold my hand?” I look over to the boy who was driving the Audi, eyes focused on the road. “Hmm, I thought, Mr. Yang would notice and go easy on us, but as you can see that didn't happen.” He sighs. I scoff in disbelief. “In short, you attempted to use me to get out of there, fucking selfish. “Hey, in my defense you also did not want to be there.”
There goes my attempt at holding a conversation. All he cares about is himself, no one else. I can't believe I’m actually complying to this. With that, the rest of the car ride there was in silence.
~~~~~~
At the studio
“We’re here.” I get out of the car. Wow, this place is amazing. I look at the building standing in front of me in awe. Jihoon and I enter through the full glass entrance with matching doors to go with it. And came face to the modernized lobby. Jihoon went to the front desk to ask if there was a dance studio available for us to use, giving me time to look around.
I walk around and look at all of the amazing dancers in the paintings that were hung in the lobby. One day I’ll be just like them, just wait and see. “Loser!” Jihoon yells pulling me back into reality. “One day I’ll be just like them.” That's what I said. “Pfft, in your dreams.” I humor. He pushes me causing me to stumble backward.
“Anyways I got us a room.” “Sweet.” Jihoon guides me up the stairs and into the dance studio he managed to get us. “How you even know about this place? I mean like it's like so high class.” I questioned, attempting at another conversation. “Cousin works here. Get changed there's a change room over there.” He bluntly states and heads towards the guys change room. Nice going Y/n, if you can't hold a conversation with him how can you even dance with him. I go grab my stuff and get changed.
I exited the change room wearing my leggings and loose crop top with my sports bra under and my pointe shoes on of course. I walked back into the dance studio where Jihoon was already warming up.
He was wearing a plain white shirt and grey Nike sweats. “So, I was thinking we go with a ballad song, like this.” I say pulling out my phone. “Uhh, here's what we’re not gonna do, we are going to an energetic piece.” “Uhh, how bout not. I don't DO energetic.” I say. “And I don't DO ballad songs. We glare at each other. This is the exact reason why I did not to work with him, he never listens to me.
He puts on a song over the speakers. “Dance, we’ll see what fits and what doesn’t.” He suggests. I raised my hands in the air and back off to the other side of the studio.
I started to dance, he did too. Anyone could tell that our styles did not mesh. Suddenly Jihoon bumped into me for like the 100th time today, I looked over at him and he just smirked. This bastard, if he wants to go let's go.
I walk over to him and shoved him, and signaled him to bring it on. And he did pulling off his best moves in order to out dance me, oh I was not going to let him beat me. He stopped dancing indicating it was my turn, I took this opportunity to pirouette towards him backing him out of my space. I pulled my sharpest moves, even throwing some flips that Yeorum taught me, all going to the song of course. The suddenly Jihoon joined in. Both of us battling to see who was better, but it was clearly both of us were tied went it came to the technique, but neither of was wanted to admit it.
“THAT'S IT! I had enough, we aren't going anywhere! All we’ve done is compete! We are not going to get anywhere!” I yelled. “It's your fault, you got in my way!” He huffs. “I did not you bumped into me!” “Hah, funny I’m totally laughing right now.” “If you would just listen to me, we would probably be down!” I scream.
“Not everything is about you! I can't help that you can’t let loose!” Jihoon yells out. That's it he drew the line I’m out. I can’t work with this BS. I grabbed my bag and shoes and left the studio. “And where do you think you're going?” Jihoon follows me out. “Home.” I deadpanned.
“We just got here, you can't leave.” “Just watch me try.” I stormed down the stairs and left the place. I can’t believe that he said that, he's spouting complete and utter bullshit. I walked outside, then walked back Jihoon. “Drive me home.”
Dancing Around the Truth pt. 3
(Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | to be continued) (Read on AO3 | FFN)
Summary: The last thing Valerie wanted was to get caught up in Paulina’s plot to ask Phantom to the winter formal.  Unfortunately Paulina’s made sure she doesn’t have a choice.  Meanwhile, Danny just wants to finish his Algebra quiz.  For @phantombreadproject for the Christmas Truce 2018.
Danny paced the small floor of Valerie’s shed, growing more nervous by the moment.  Maybe he shouldn’t have picked this place.  For all she said about not hunting him anymore, she hadn’t been back to clean out the torture chamber setup.  Unfortunately, that wasn’t the main source of his worries.
It’s just Paulina, he told himself, trying to calm his core, which had insisted on dropping the already-freezing air several degrees.  It’s not like I’m going up against a ghost or… who am I kidding, I’d way rather be dealing with ghosts than this.
His face burned in spite of the cold.  It was just Paulina.  Just the girl he’d had a crush on all of freshman year, until his brain had finally caught up with puberty.  In hindsight, he could see just how stupid he’d been to actually try going out with her. He’d embarrassed himself because of her more times than he could count.
But that was two years ago.  He liked to think he was smarter than that now - even if his grades didn’t show it.  Still, he couldn’t help worrying that she’d manage to get in his head again.  When Paulina wanted something, she usually got it.
And what she wants is a date with me.  Well, half of me anyway.  He laughed and ran a hand through his hair, which was accumulating frost at the tips.  If it had been his human half Paulina was interested in, maybe things would have been different.  Or maybe not.  She was way too high-maintenance to add on top of his already hectic ghost-fighting schedule.
After what felt like an eternity, the shed door finally slid open - Valerie had rigged it so it worked more like a garage door, allowing her to fly in without dismounting her board.  He forced himself not to react at the sight of the girl clinging to Valerie’s waist for dear life.
“See?  There’s your ghost.  Happy?”  Valerie said, simultaneously retracting her board and closing the shed door.  Paulina yelped but managed to keep her footing in - were those stilettos? That couldn’t be comfortable - as she dropped to the ground.
“You could give a girl a warning,” she muttered, but then her full attention was on Danny.  “Phantom!  You actually came to see me!”
He forced a grin onto his face.  “Well, technically you came to see me.”
She sauntered up to him, quickening his core’s frequency in spite of himself.  The past year had been good to her.  Her hair was as long and glossy as ever, and her emerald green sweater clung to her waist.  At least she’d given up the crop tops for the winter.
He took an involuntary step back as she got close.  Too close already. Her bold, flowery perfume strangled him, intensified by his ghost form’s heightened senses.  Both Sam and Valerie always had more subtle, gentle scents.  He should thank them for that.
“I see you, you see me, the important thing is we’re seeing each other.”  Paulina smiled.  “I didn’t think the Red Huntress could do it.  How did she finally manage to catch you?”  She asked, talking like they were old friends.  Or old… something more than that.  Which they definitely weren’t.
“Uh, she didn’t.”  He cast a glance towards Valerie, as if she could bail him out.  She relaxed against the wall with her arms casually crossed. He couldn’t make out her face through her mask, but couldn’t help feeling like she was laughing at him.  Maybe she hadn’t let the whole fiasco with Cujo and her dad’s job go after all.
“She just asked me to come, that’s all,” he said, eyes still hovering over Valerie, because that was easier than looking at Paulina.  Not that Valerie didn’t look good too, but - that was another path he didn’t have the attention for now.  He cleared his throat.  “She said you had something important to ask me.”
“Oh.  Yes.  I…” Suddenly she looked nervous.  Paulina, nervous?  Around him?  The thought was so shocking that he almost missed her next words.  “I wanted to ask you to the Casper High Winter Formal.”
She stared up at him through long eyelashes, her hands clasped down by her waist.  He blinked stupidly.
“Winter formal?”  He echoed.  Valerie hadn’t provided that detail.  Not that it mattered, he guessed; a date was a date, but the school dance?  There were a million reasons that he couldn’t make that happen.  That didn’t stop her from quickly continuing on.
“Yes, I even asked Vice Principal Lancer if you’d be allowed to come, and he said if you signed the out-of-school forms-”
Danny gaped.
“Wait, you talked to Lancer about asking me out?”  On one hand, he almost wished he could’ve seen his teacher’s reaction.  On the other, she’d clearly thought this out for too long.  She raised an eyebrow.
“What, do you know him or something?  Anyway, he said it would be fine, and then you can even protect the dance from the inside.  You know how Casper High dances tend to attract ghosts.”  She flipped her hair, flashing him another smile.  He did know.  It was his fault the dance freshman year got wrecked.  Well, mostly his fault, and a little bit of Sam and Paulina’s too.  He shook off the memory.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” he blurted before she could try to convince him further.  The wide-eyed shock on her face, he’d expected - no one told Paulina no.  What he didn’t expect was the downcast despondency that swept over her the next moment.
“What I mean is, I - I’m gonna be busy that night,” he covered, then wanted to smack himself.  Stupid!  Val told you you’ve gotta let her down hard!  Maybe he should’ve asked her for tips.  After all, she’d been the one to let him down.  He’d never turned down a girl in his life, not that he’d had any throwing themselves at him like this before.  It was distinctly less pleasant than he’d imagined.
“Oh,” she said, straightening her shoulders and composing herself.  “I’m sure you’re very busy, being a hero and all… what exactly do you have plans to do?  If you don’t mind me asking.  I mean, you can’t know when exactly the ghosts are going to attack our helpless town.”
Crap.  Word traps.  He hated those.  Ghosts, he could simply punch his way through, but he couldn’t exactly do that to his classmate.  Not that he wanted to punch Paulina! Gah, he just needed to focus, think his way out of this -
He glanced over at Valerie, hoping for some kind of reassurance.  To his surprise, she’d removed the faceplate of her mask to mouth something at him.  What, he couldn’t tell; he was no good at reading lips.  All he could catch was the word “ghost,” which could’ve meant anything.
Paulina noticed his distraction and looked behind her, and Valerie abruptly shut her mouth.  For some reason Paulina still did a double take, her eyes flashing from him, to Valerie, and back as her mouth slowly opened.
“You - wait a second - you know who she is? Without the mask?”  Paulina asked.  Demanded, more like, with the fire in her eyes.  The question caught him completely by surprise, but of course she’d ask that.  No one else knew that Phantom and the Red Huntress were friends yet.
“Uhh… yeah?”  He admitted.  After all, Valerie was right.  His lying sucked.  Especially when it came to lying to pretty girls.
“And you still let her hunt you?  You could have, like, found her and stolen all her equipment, couldn’t you?”  Her hands braced against her hips, like his mom would do before grounding him from video games for a week.
“Well - yeah, I guess I could’ve, but she was hunting the bad ghosts, too.  Besides, we’re all good now,” he said, hoping to deflect the attention away from Valerie as quickly as possible.  She flashed him a grateful smile, which he returned.
“No way.  She was just trying to kill you yesterday!  How can you just be-!”  Paulina’s outburst cut off as quickly as it began.  She took a deep breath, forcing a placid smile back onto her face.  “Of course, I’m sure it wasn’t hard for a handsome ghost like you to charm her.”
“What?”  Valerie exclaimed.  Danny nearly choked before his cheeks swelled with laughter.
“You think I charmed - wait, you really think I’m handsome?”  A light green blush stained his cheeks.  Maybe he wasn’t going to date Paulina, but was there any way he could get that in writing?
“Oh, quit preening,” Valerie snapped, stalking over to them.  “Phantom couldn’t charm his way out of a paper bag.”
“Hey,” he pouted, falling into the familiar banter.  It helped to distract him from his ex-crush still standing too close.  “I’ve charmed my way out of a number of paper bags, thank you very much.”
She rolled her eyes but directed her attention back to Paulina.  “The point is, Phantom told you no.  Time to leave.”
“You promised me a fair chance, Huntress.”  Paulina placed her hands on her hips.  To her credit, she didn’t use Valerie’s name, even when it looked obvious that he knew it.  “I think a fair chance would involve me talking to Phantom alone, don’t you?”
Danny’s eyes widened.  “Uh, I don’t think-”
“No,” Valerie shut her down simply, crossing her arms.  “My place, my rules. I’m not leaving.”
“Well, then maybe Phantom could take me for a little flight?”  She batted her eyes at him.  If he’d had a heartbeat, it would have been racing.  As it was, his core was fluctuating, frosting over the concrete beneath his boots.  Paulina didn’t seem to notice the chill.
“No,” Valerie answered for him again.  As pathetic as it made him seem, he was glad.  He was going to have her teach him how to turn people down.
“What are you, his girlfriend?”  Paulina scowled.  “Let him speak for himself.”
“Um… actually…”  He stepped back and tugged at the jumpsuit around his neck.
“Well you sure aren’t!”  Valerie snapped, clenching a fist.
“I could be.”  Paulina cocked her hip.  “What, are you jealous?”
“I’m not-!”
Danny’s eyes flickered between the two girls, wishing he could just fly out of here.  He should be at home doing Algebra homework, not dealing with… dealing with… this!
“Stop!”  He finally shouted, voice vibrating with the beginnings of a ghostly wail.  He wouldn’t let it go that far, but the power in it startled the two girls from their argument.
“I’m not going to the dance with you, Paulina,” he said, channeling the bravery that he normally saved for ghost fights.
“Why not?”  She had the audacity to ask back.  Almost like she truly couldn’t believe someone would tell her no.  Well, he guessed no one had before, but the response still threw him off guard.
“He doesn’t have to-” Valerie began, but he was already blurting the first reply that came to mind.
“I’m dating Valerie.”
Both sets of eyes fixed to his.  One wide with shock, another narrowed in disbelief.  He wanted to put his fist in his mouth.  Stupid, of all the lies he could’ve tried, that was the one he had to spout?  He could have made an excuse about being dead.  Or literally anything else.  Whatever, no choice but to run with it and hope Val would forgive him.
“Uh, what I meant was, I was going to ask Valerie.  Now that she’s not trying to kill me.”  He grinned nervously, trying to read her expression.  The shock had faded, leaving a look that he could only compare to a Blue Screen of Death.
“You - you want to go out with her?”  Paulina pointed at the other girl.  “But… but you just said she tried to kill you!  And - you could go out with me!”
“Lots of people try to kill me.  Val’s the best out of all of them.”  Wait, that came out wrong.  “I mean, the best person.  Not the best at killing me.  I’m still alive.  Well, halfway.”  He chuckled.
“Don’t tempt me to finish the job,” Valerie said dangerously.  Paulina’s hands shook, looking ready to snap something in half.
“See?  She’s not going to go out with you anyway,” she said, reaching for his arm, which he tugged back.  “I’m just asking for one date. Please.  Phantom, I - you’re the first boy I’ve had a real crush on!”
She covered her mouth, as if surprised she’d let that slip.  As flattering as it was, Danny couldn’t let it change his mind.  Though he supposed he could let it change his tone.
“I’m sorry, Paulina.”  He hesitantly placed a hand on her shoulder.  That was more touch than he should’ve risked, but his mind was set now.  “It’s too late.  I’m sure you’ll meet a nice, alive boy you can go out with.”
“Too late?”  She frowned.  “What do you mean, if I’d asked before Valerie stopped hunting you, you’d go out with me?”
“No, no, it’s not that,” he backtracked quickly, raising his hands.  “I just… uh…”  What could he say?  That he’d had a crush on her years ago?  At least his tongue didn’t betray him that badly.  He could only imagine how she’d react to that.
“Nevermind,” she said bitterly, hunching and turning her back on him.  “You’re not the hero I thought you were, anyway.  Just… take me home.”
Her shoulders drooped.  For once, her voice actually sounded defeated.  The words cut deeper than he’d expected.  Like he was getting rejected by her back in the ninth grade all over again.
“I’ll take you,” Valerie said, her tone surprisingly kind.  She jumped, and her board sprouted from her feet; she extended a hand to help Paulina up.  The girl pointedly avoided looking towards Danny as they rose into the air.
“We’re going to have a talk about this later, Phantom,” Valerie added with one of her signature intense stares.  Danny tried not to flinch back from it.
Great.  Just when he’d started to repair their friendship, he’d had to go and ruin it with a stupid lie.  He never meant to ask Valerie out… or well, maybe he did, eventually.  She’d only broken up with him because of ghost fighting, and now that they were on good terms… only he’d probably gone and ruined that tonight.
So much for charming your way out of a paper bag.  He’d managed to cut romantic ties with not just one but three girls in the past month.  Paulina was obvious; that had never been a possibility.  He and Sam had dated for a few weeks before it just felt too awkward.  They’d thought they liked each other romantically, but actually dating felt like walking on eggshells for both of them, never knowing how to interact anymore.  Almost like neither of them were really themselves.  Breaking up had been mutual, and had somehow left them closer than before, as weird as it sounded.  There weren’t any more secret feelings between them.  They’d always have each other, no matter what happened, and that was what mattered.
But Valerie… maybe his feelings for her weren’t quite as visceral as what he felt around Paulina, but he did like her.  A lot.  Especially after how she’d finally quit working with Vlad, and she’d helped Danielle… her heart was always in the right place.
“I do not need to be worrying about this,” he muttered up at the ceiling before turning intangible and flying out.
He’d deal with his conflicted feelings later.  Right now he had algebra homework to finish.
XXX
As she glided through the night sky, Valerie tried to ignore the faint sniffles coming from the girl clinging to her waist.  Though her helmet filtered out the sound of rushing wind, the faint crying was somehow loud enough to hear.  Or maybe she was just imagining the sound because she could feel Paulina shaking behind her.
She’s probably just cold, she reasoned.  Paulina wouldn’t really be this distraught over Danny, would she?
“You’re the first boy I’ve had a real crush on!”  Was that true?  She’d dated plenty of other guys before but… she’d seemed too embarrassed to be lying.
Valerie frowned as sympathy fluttered in her chest.  She shouldn’t feel bad for Paulina.  Danny didn’t owe her anything.  Still, as Paulina’s oversized house came into sight below them, the pitiful feeling in Valerie’s chest grew.  She wanted to chalk it up to the sheer awkwardness of seeing Paulina lose her composure, but had a feeling it went deeper than that.  It was hard not to relate to another girl getting her heart broken, no matter how much she probably deserved it.
“Hey,” she said carefully, slowing her board to a halt above the sloped roof.  “You good?”
“Just peachy,” Paulina snapped, but it didn’t have the same effect while she was still hugging Valerie’s waist.
“Sorry,” she muttered.  It had been too long since she’d comforted anyone, and she’d never been great at it in the first place.  “Phantom’s right, you know.  There’ll be other guys.  Alive guys.”
“Easy for you to say,” she sniffed.  “Apparently he wants to date you!  What did you do to him, Val?”
Her cheeks flushed.  That topic was something she’d rather deal with later.  What had possessed Danny to blurt that?  Of all the stupid excuses he could’ve made… But the real problem was, she couldn’t be entirely sure it was a stupid excuse.  Or if she wanted it to be.
Things were just… just too complicated right now.
“I don’t know,” she replied, shaking her head.  She hardly even knew what he’d done to her.  For all her comment that he couldn’t charm his way out of a paper bag, his neon green blush as he’d asked her out remained imprinted in her mind.  It should’ve been just one more sign of Danny’s ghost side, one that she would’ve likely found creepy two days ago, but now…
She sighed.  Complicated wasn’t the half of it.
“Come on, you don’t just go from enemies to looking at each other like that overnight.  Something happened.”  Paulina let go of Valerie and swayed for a bit before getting her balance on her own.  It would be safer to put her down on the balcony, but it would be better to keep this conversation on Valerie’s turf, especially now that Paulina was regaining her composure.
“That’s between me and him,” she said definitively, though her mind was divided.  Looking at each other like what?  Like they were keeping secrets?  Because they were, but that had nothing to do with Danny liking her.
“Fine,” Paulina snorted.  “But I’ll find out eventually, Gray.”
“I highly doubt that.”  Unless Danny decided to tell her his secret, it wasn’t one anyone was going to guess on a whim.  “I kept my end of the deal. You promised you’d get off my back.”
“I promised I’d keep my mouth shut,” she replied, raising a finger.  Valerie grit her teeth.
“Close enough.  You really don’t want to get caught up in my life, anyway.  I’m a social outcast, remember?  Wouldn’t want to drag you down a few rungs.”
Paulina shrugged.  “To get closer to Phantom?  I might.”
“Get real, Sanchez.  He turned you down.  I almost felt sorry for you about that, but I don’t now.”
Anger flashed behind her eyes.  “He didn’t - he just… as soon as you break his heart, he’ll come back to me.  You’ll see.”
“Right.  Are you trying to convince me, or yourself?”
For once, Paulina looked away.  Discreetly she tried to wipe her eye, only succeeding in smearing mascara across her hand.
“...You don’t have to rub it in,” she finally replied.  “I don’t expect you to get it though.”
“What?  Being rejected?  Yeah, I can.”  Valerie crossed her arms.  Did Paulina not remember what she’d done to her?  Maybe it wasn’t the same as being rejected by a crush, but she’d been punted out of her only friend group.  “Maybe it’s about time someone taught you what that feels like.”
Paulina glared.  “I’m not asking for your sympathy.  I’m just - I’m going to bed.  Put me down.”
Valerie frowned but lowered her board to the balcony, grabbing Paulina’s arm when she lost her balance.  She quickly snatched it away and hopped off the board.
“Wait, Paulina…” Valerie found herself saying.  The other girl stiffened, her hands clenched to fists at her sides.
“Just shut up, Gray.  Just shut up.”
She swallowed the apology that had been forming in her throat.  If Paulina didn’t want to play nice, that was her problem.
She spun her board around and jetted into the night.
Chicago Fire Round Table S5 - Take a Knee
Hi everyone and welcome to the latest edition of the Chicago Fire Round Table! This past week’s episode, Take a Knee, was a solid episode overall and definitely brought out all sorts of emotions. I have a smaller panel than normal this week (its that time of year when everyone gets crazy busy) but there’s still a fun discussion here for you so sit back and grab a cold drink. =)
Before we get started though, have you all seen this Dawsey video yet?! OMG, it might be my favorite one ever. IT’S SO GOOD. <3
youtube
1st Responder Award: Big congrats and throw up the confetti for @CurlyBuckeye because she won this week’s 1st Responder Award! =)
Tumblr media
PSA: Please remember that none of the pictures, videos, or GIFs used in this blog (aside from the 1st Responder Award) were made by me but by other amazing people who share their talents with us every week. Apparently I’m still having the problem of some GIFs not being active by the time I post the blog so hopefully they all work this week! Please let me know if they don’t so I can try to figure out the problem during this (annoying) show hiatus. Thanks! =)
DISCUSSION
Q1. Casey got involved in helping a family get their daughter out of a scary drug situation. Did you agree with how he handled everything?
CurlyBuckeye: Yes, I did agree with how he handled it. He was extremely concerned about the child and needed to know what was going on with him. He didn't do anything illegal. It was very gutsy to confront the drug dealer, but it was the only way to get to the girl. 51 had his back! Tonichelleak: Overall, it seems to have worked out well. Hopefully the girl accepts the help given to her. Drug addiction makes things a billion times tougher on EVERYONE. As far as how Casey handled it - well...he's lucky he didn't get a machete to the face! Yikes! Texterlover: I do think Casey handled everything right. He went to the police and to his chief when things were happening instead of just doing things by himself. He had help instead of doing it alone. I do have one complaint though lol Casey always has to be the hero, ha! No matter how dangerous it is lol I love him for that but also hate him because I would hate if he got hurt. Nikita_Citizen: I was afraid something might happen to him because when isn't he caught in a dangerous situation? But he took control of the situation, reunited a family, and I really loved it! I'm seriously hoping this won't backfire because that guy is in the wind and he might want to get revenge. Kwanfan1212: It scared me a little bit how passionate he got about finding out what was going on but once I found out it was related to a kid, I knew he was going to do whatever he could to help out. Casey has always had a passion to help kids and ever since Louie left, I think that passion has been more prevalent. I don’t know if he could have handled it any better than he did and I love how creative he got to get into that crack house. Glad nothing happened to any of them and I hope it stays that way!
Tumblr media
Q2. Severide got a close-up look at the disaster that is his father’s current state. Do you still worry that Sev is heading down that same path? Did you agree with Anna’s decision to leave the dinner?
CurlyBuckeye: No, I don't think Severide is heading down his father's path. Mostly because he sees the unhappiness in his father's life and doesn't want his life to be like that. I didn't agree with Anna leaving the dinner. Didn't make much sense. Kelly told her his Dad was a mess so I'm guessing there's something else going on with her. Tonichelleak: I missed something in why Anna suddenly freaked and left. I was late getting in on the episode by like five minutes - did something happen earlier that started this whole issue? I'm freaking pissed that they're writing them this way. I normally am not a Severide storyline fan, but I really, really, REALLY like Anna and I'm so confused as to what's going on right now. LOL Texterlover: No I may not be the biggest fan of Anna but I have to say that her and Kelly fit somehow so seeing her leave like that was a little upsetting especially because we, along with Kelly, don't know what sparked it. Nikita_Citizen: No. I think he really wants to settle down and he's made that decision since he donated bone marrow and Dawsey got married. I didn't like how she left the restaurant, it really hurt Severide and he certainly didn't deserve that. He did everything to make her feel welcome. I'm sure there's a reason but what Anna did was awful. Kwanfan1212: I think Sev has been sufficiently scared by his father’s life enough to not make the same mistakes but I do worry about him sometimes just because life hasn’t always made things easy for him. I have no idea why Anna left the dinner so suddenly but I worry that her cancer has come back and she’s scared to tell that to Kelly. =(
Tumblr media
Q3. Herrmann had a rough decision to make regarding his son, Lee Henry, and some trouble he got into at school. What did you think of the way Herrmann handled things?
CurlyBuckeye: Herrmann is too funny...we all know he gets way too emotional and irrational but taking his son to see veterans and say the Pledge was an awesome way to handle it. Tonichelleak: His kid needed a boot to his butt. I was honestly shocked that the writers didn't make the kid "right" and have Herrmann learn some stupid "free speech" lesson (which he kind of did but only because the vice principal was off his nut). Texterlover: I think Hermann bringing Mouch, Chief and Lee Henry to the veteran’s center was a great touch. It showed Lee Henry why he has his freedoms and just how much people have fought and continue to fight for them. Nikita_Citizen: He handled it brilliantly. Well, not all the time. It was really funny to see him in that situation. In the end, he taught his son a beautiful lesson and it was amazing. Kwanfan1212: Herrmann is a national treasure and I love what he did for Lee Henry. Sometimes you just need to be reminded of what’s really important.
Q4. Gabby and Sylvie had a trainee for a shift and things did not go well on one of their calls. Were you surprised at how that story turned out? What would you have done if you were in their situation with the trainee?
CurlyBuckeye: It was a bit surprising. Didn't see them covering for him but it made total sense they would since they've been in situations just like it. I'd like to think I would've covered for him too. Tonichelleak: I'd have left the trainee to hang. Haha. The girls just need to take their punishment. Which I'm sure Dawson won't but, oh well. *yay drama* Texterlover: I actually really liked the trainee and really liked how the whole ambo stuck together. However, telling the truth would've been less complicated for everyone. Also, if he couldn't listen then, he could've not listened when something else important happens in the field. Nikita_Citizen: I was definitely expecting the trainee to make a mistake but not the rest. That payback from Chief Hatcher was priceless! I think I would have done the same thing. He deserved a second chance. Kwanfan1212: I was happy to see them handle the trainee so well (they really were watching out for him) but his actions on the call shocked me as did the re-training thing at the end. I think that’s gonna be hilarious to see how each of the ladies handles that in the next episode. Gabby’s right though...she totally would have done the same thing as the trainee, LOL ;)
Q5. We’ve been seeing more and more scenes between characters who don’t always get to interact (i.e. Stella and Casey tonight). Is this something you want to see more of between everyone going forward?
CurlyBuckeye: Yes, I think it's really interesting to see different characters interacting and forming deeper bonds. I really like the Stella/Casey friendship. Tonichelleak: I'm not a big Stella fan, but I do like when the "supporting cast" gets decent story. I just want more from the comic relief crew. Texterlover: I love seeing all the characters interact especially ones that don't usually so I'm all for it. Nikita_Citizen: Yes! I love this sort of new friendship between Matt and Stella. I also will never get tired of seeing Mouch, Herrmann, and Boden's friendship. I actually like to see both. Kwanfan1212: I like seeing characters who don’t get to interact much have a few scenes together. It was fun seeing Casey and Kidd share some scenes in this episode (their scene at the hospital with the texting was hilarious) and I do hope we get to see more of that with the other characters as the show goes on.
Q6. Dawsey had some seriously adorable moments together tonight. Which one of them was your favorite? (And you can’t say all of them…that’s a cop out, LOL)
CurlyBuckeye: Hmmm...so hard to pick one! I think it was the scene in the car for me. We've never really had a scene with them driving together. It was really cute! Now, I need some hot & steamy!! Tonichelleak: I'll abstain. Haha (Author Note: She doesn’t like Dawsey but she’s been my friend for a gazillion years so I don’t hold it against her, LOL) Texterlover: Uhh I wish I could say all of them because we know how much I love Dawsey! However, I loved the beginning scene in the car and also the scene when Gabby said, "You're gonna go all Gabby Dawson on this aren't you" and Casey just smiled. Those scenes along with the others were super cute. Hopefully we continue to have them even with what's coming up with Dawson's dad. Nikita_Citizen: All of them!! Just kidding :-D My favorite scene is the one in Matt's truck. We see them interact at home and at the firehouse obviously so it was nice to see them going to work together and being playful. Kwanfan1212: The scene in Matt’s truck. It was so much fun to see them be playful and flirty which we don’t get to see nearly enough!
Q7. What was your favorite scene from Take a Knee? Least favorite scene? Did anything special stick out to you?
CurlyBuckeye: My favorite scene was Stella telling Gabby how amazing Matt was and her saying, "What else is new?" So stinking adorable! The look on her face was everything! My least favorite was Benny at the firehouse talking to Sev and telling him he's just like him. He needs to leave Kelly alone. He may be his father, but he isn't good for him. The thing that stuck out for me is the Louie mentions from Matt added with Gabby's from last week and their interactions w/ families and kids lately, makes me think something is definitely being cooked up for Dawsey. Hoping it's good and not more heartache. Tonichelleak: I'M SO ANGRY ABOUT SEVERANNA THAT I CAN'T THINK STRAIGHT! haha Seriously though, I KNEW better than to get attached because I totally saw something stupid like this coming (it's Severide, his relationships never last). I REALLY like Anna and I like the scenes they have together. THIS IS STUPID. Now I have to watch some episodes of Friends to cool off. Texterlover: My favorite scene would have to be any Dawsey scene lol but also when the team saved the girl from the crack house. I also really liked the scene with the veterans. Those scenes just really stuck out to me. My least favorite scene would probably have to be Anna leaving Severide like that. She just left with no explanation and Kelly doesn't deserve that. Nikita_Citizen: Hard to pick a favorite scene. I loved the Dawsey scenes, the Herrmanns, Dawson and Brett against Chief Hatcher, Dawson and Brett defending the trainee, I even liked Benny's scenes. Least favorite scene: Anna crushing Severide's heart. Kwanfan1212: Fave Scene: Dawsey in the truck, Herrmann losing his mind in the principal’s office (SO FUNNY), the “going Gabby Dawson” comment, and Casey taking down the bad guy with the machete (even though it scared me). Least Fave: Sev watching Anna leave. That was sad. What Stuck Out: There are more and more references to family and Louie lately which makes me think something child/family related is coming up for Dawsey. It better be something good!
