𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 ─ ˙✽ ̟ ¡!

warnings | gn!reader. fluff/slight angst ending with some comfort (?). pre blue lock. childhood friends. reader + isagi secretly pinning for each other. change of isagi and reader pov’s. potentially bad writing. mostly proofread. wc: 1k+

notes | made this once i realized that it’s isagi’s bday today. he’s my favorite character in blue lock, so why not celebrate with my first fic on this account?

Having lost the chance to go to nationals, Isagi was more down than usual. Despite his best efforts, the disappointment weighed heavily on him. After having dinner with his parents, he retreated to his room, feeling the need to cool down and collect himself. He put the letter he received on his nightstand before sitting alone on his bed.

Not long after, Isagi heard the doorbell ring downstairs. He looked over at his clock confused. Did his parents expect someone over this late? Some talking could be heard downstairs, which he chalked up to nothing, before he heard your voice. It was slightly muffled due to the walls, but he can recognize it from a mile away.

He was taken aback at you coming over so late. That suprisement turned into a sense of unease as to why you showed up. The fact that he lost the match by 0-2 only added to his anxiety. He was embarrassed of the possibility that you knew he lost such a big game. His first instinct was to pray that you just came over to pick something up, no matter how unlikely. He didn’t want you to see him in this state, especially since you were his long-time crush aka his best friend.

Downstairs however, Isagi’s parents expected you arrival. “Sorry for any inconvenience coming over here.”

"Don’t worry, it’s okay,” you said, taking your shoes off before entering. “Is Yoichi in his room?"

Mrs. Isagi nods. “He went up after dinner. He’ll listen to you. I’m sure of it.”

The reason why you were over so late, was because Isagi’s mother had called you. She was the one to contact you and tell you if you could come over to cheer him up. You knew that he had an important match but you didn’t get any text from him after it, so you didn't bother him. It was sweet of her to do such things, so your heart melted and you said yes.

As she granted you permission, you made your way up the stairs, feeling a mix of nostalgia. You didn't need any directions to locate his room; you had been there several times before.

You pause for a moment outside his door, taking a deep breath to steady yourself. You raise your hand and knock gently, waiting for a response. "Yoichi?" you call out. "It's me, [First]. Can I come in?"

"Yes, come in."

You entered his room and took in the usual layout that you’ve been accustomed to. His Noel Noa poster and soccer players figurines that you always liked to look at. His room is neat, definitely cleaner than yours after a long week. "I heard about what happened," you say slowly so as to not cause any pressure.

Either way, he seemed to tense up at your words. It’s clear you struck a cord. “Yeah, we lost,” he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. You sat down next to him on the edge of his bed, giving him a moment to collect himself. You glanced down at your feet, trying to think of something comforting to say.

After a moment of silence, you turned to him and asked, “Did you at least give it your all?”

Isagi would’ve said yes, you’ve asked this question before, but his last play in the match wasn’t exactly ‘100%’. He passed the ball when he could’ve gone for it himself and part of him was regretting it. He could dream about the what-ifs, but he knew better than to do that.

Isagi hesitated, his eyes downcast. He knew he hadn't given it his all, not really. But he didn't want to disappoint you. You were always so hopeful, so supportive. He didn't have the heart to tell you the truth. Instead, he nodded slowly and said, "You can say that."

You could see the sadness in his eyes, and you knew he was holding back. But you didn't want to push him. You just sat there quietly, offering your presence and support.

You found yourself at a loss for words. You always has been good at giving compliments and sharing bits of wisdom, but in the moment, you just didn’t know what to say without making Isagi’s already low mood worse.

You know one thing, that with him, it didn’t feel like you were walking on eggshells. Your interactions have always been natural and effortless with him. You could let your heart do the talking, confident that he would understand and appreciate your words.

Despite your hesitation, you knew that deep down, you had the ability to lift Isagi's spirits and make him feel better. You just needed to find the right words to do so.

"You know what I think?" you abruptly say. "You should see this loss as a way to improve. I know that you can still get better. Just please don't let this discourage you from getting out on that field again."

Hesitantly your hand moved on top of his as you continued, "Never forget your love for soccer. It's what I most admire about you." Your face is slightly flushed from your own words, but you would repeat them over again if he asked.

Isagi was dumbfounded when he asked you, "You like my love for soccer?"

You couldn't help but chuckle at his cluelessness. "I like how passionate you are," you explained. "You just go.”

As soon as the words left your mouth, you couldn't help but wonder if you had made things awkward between the two of you. After all, you had been good friends for so long. But then, Isagi looked at you with his big blue eyes, and you found yourself getting lost in them.

Despite your reservations, you couldn't help but admit that there was something about Isagi that drew you in. Maybe it was his contagious energy, or the way he always seemed to be chasing after his dreams. Whatever it was, you couldn't deny that you were drawn to him in a way that you couldn't quite explain.

"[First]?"

"Yes?"

His mind was working overdrive as he thought this would be the moment to confess, but there’s a sense of hesitation in his eyes. He’s always wanted to be your boyfriend, but the letter on his desk is holding him back. How good of a boyfriend can he be if he's away to focus on his soccer career? You don’t deserve that.

Isagi sighs. "Thank you, I won't give up," he promises, giving you a reassuring smile. You can sense that he wants to say more and he seems to be holding back. You don’t want to force him into saying things he doesn’t want to, but you can’t help but speculate… what does he really want to say?

Wood Engraving Wednesday

NOEL ROOKE

In the mid 1920s, the Golden Cockerel Press embarked on producing a number of small quartos with stories taken from the Bible. One of the first of these volumes was The Birth of Christ with text taken from the Gospel of St. Luke and published in 1925. At this time, wood engraver and fine-press printer Robert Gibbings (1889-1958) was proprietor of the press, and his old teacher from the Central School of Art and Design, Noel Rooke (1881-1953), provided these engravings for the book. Rooke was a seminal figure in the revival of wood engraving, and both Rooke and Gibbings were among the ten original co-founders of Britain's Society of Wood Engravers.

Although he was a little older than Gibbings, Rooke's style was more traditional than Gibbings's, and in his work he provided a link between the fine presses of the previous century and the work of contemporary printers. The Birth of Christ, printed in an edition of 370 copies, was well-regarded when it came out. Bernard Newdigate (1869-1944), manager of the Shakespeare Head Press, noted in a review in the London Mercury, "I like this little book better than any other from the Golden Cockerel Press I have yet seen."

Rooke was also responsible for the book's layout and design, which when compared to Golden Cockerel's other Biblical works of this period, was as Roderick Cave and Sarah Manson put it, "a throwback, an oddity." We don't know how Gibbings felt about it, but although Gibbings and Rooke remained friends for the rest of their lives, Rooke never illustrated another book for Golden Cockerel.

We enjoy the engravings and the book, however. Our copy is another donation of the estate of our late friend Dennis Bayuzick, who maintained an interest in Christian theology.

what was your tumblr like when you first joined? it was a lot of reblogs of aesthetic photographs because it was 2012 and i was 14. not long after that tho it turned into a sebastian stan fan blog which is how i got my url, and over time that slowly morphed into the multi fandom madness you see today

what clothing style do you love but don't feel compelled to replicate yourself? god i don't know, my closet is a little bit of everything because i always wanna try a new style when i see it. i honestly don't think i have an answer for this one, i really do love fashion and my style is constantly changing

if you were plopped into a fictional world, which one would you know the layout of the best? i have no idea. acotar maybe? solely because i've read those books so many times? yeah i guess i'll go with that

what is your favourite piece of art? café terrace at night

do you have a water bottle? what does it look like? i have a light blue wide mouth nalgene water bottle that is covered in stickers and has two friendship bracelets dangling from the cap strap. it's giving major camp counselor vibes.

what fanfic trope is a quiet fave? look, if i go on a quiet hunt for fics tagged aftercare every now and then, that is between me and god so shut the fuck up about it

do you carry a daily bag? what does it look like? what's the weirdest thing in it? nope. i don't have an office bag bc i wfh and on the weekends i absolutely despise carrying a purse. i have one of those phone cases with card slots on the back and it holds everything i could possibly need.

if you had to ship Mickey with another Gallagher, who would it be? sexually i think it'd have to be lip, but if i could platonically ship him with someone i think i'd pick fiona. idk i just think they'd get along better than anyone would think.

what is a fanfic trope you didn't expect to like and then very much did? friends to lovers kinda snuck up on me in my adulthood. i used to be very against it as a teen, but now that i'm grown and have actually seen the trope done well in fics and in media, it's one of my favorite tropes of all time.

Do you think s11 Mickey can still carry s11 Ian? yes 100% absolutely and anyone who says otherwise is lying. (did we all see noel's s11 body? we saw the abs right? mans was ripped in the last season even tho the writers like, never showed it, and it is my personal mission to avenge this wrongdoing) i'm kidding about the lying part but yeah, he absolutely can still carry s11 ian, being able to lift his husband is the only reason he still goes to the gym

who got custody of the killing bat when they sold the house? debbie. i think carl wanted it, but he already has a gun so he gave it to debbie instead.

okay so im going with the one ive put the most thought into: noels!

layout for reference (that door is supposed to be on the bottom wall next to the dresser oops):

so i imagine noel and his mom probably don't have a ton of money and you know he has expensive taste so he definitely diys/jerryrigs a lot of stuff for his room

he really wanted a canopy bed but that shit is expensive and he already had a poster bed so he just attatched some curtain rods, some thrifted transucent curtains, some dollar store fairy lights, and boom:

also noel 100% burns candles 24/7/365 and i will die on this hill. probably for burning poetry dramatically and some sick mood lighting. he cannot enter a candle store without spending abhorrent amounts of money on forest everglade and vanilla buttercream. his room is legally considered a fire hazard. he definitely owns one of those old-fashioned candle snuffers:

so yeah he's a candle guy.

and also a plant guy!! lily of the valley's (^^^) are definitely his favorite. lotsa plants. most of them live on his bookshelf, decorative shelf, or window sills.

^ best plant. he painted the pot. its name is Francis. Francis resides on the bedside window

SPEAKING of bedside window its set up like that for a big brain strategic reason. when the sky is clear at night the moon/streetlamps shine through the blinds very dramatically and its cool and awesome and he totally digs the lighting from his bed/reading chair. (especially at christmas time when the christmas lights are up!) (this is me self projecting.) he has definitely given himself headaches from reading in the dark tho.

kind of random but i also headcanon his room is on the second floor. he looks down upon the ground plebians /j

i haven't really decided on room colors but his is probably either a dark purple or mahogany red (im leaning towards the red on this one but hey i'll leave that ambiguous)

also he has the tism and owns like 15 weighted + heated blankets. they sit on his shelf and The Cart:

OK LONG POST HERE WE GO!!!

i had the absolute privilege of seeing WVU/metropolitan theater ride the cyclone not once, but twice this week (opening and closing nights!!)

and lemme tell ya it was AMAZING. definitely one of my favorite casts/productions i’ve seen. so here’s the thoughts:

number one: it was overall very similar to 2016 original cast!! many of the actions were played very similarly to that one,, but it was also very different. bc script changes (i still miss ricky conceding, love conquers all and oceans line about not knowing/caring abt people in life and regretting it though) but also bc there were puppets. more on that later lol

-the set was AMAZING, here’s a picture i took from today before it started

i just love looking at this.

and going off of that. fuckin look at karnak!!!!! he’s so cool! reminds me of a muppet in the best way lol

-i also swore that virgil was wearing an ‘in case i make it’ by will wood shirt. i don’t actually think he was for a few reasons lol but i do think it was a very similar design fghgfd

-i love the uranium suite choreo so much. ocean put SO MUCH into those little scoop thingys fhsjhd but whenever they Died,, the round and round part,, the choreo looked more like the choreo from way back during waiting for the drop and i LOVE THAT. i miss that song a lot too.

-THEY ALSO DID THE WOO!! BEFORE THE END AND I LOVE THAT TOO!!!!!

-the layout of the coaster was cool: it was

which i thought was a great was to show their personalities over their friendships sort of :)

OK,, JANE DOE: i love her design in this one. she had pink ribbons on her pigtails and big ole eyelashes and i LOVE HER.

-she also had a comb for her dolly and used it to stab it while she was talking abt the lion thing. it was really funny fhsjhd

-her way of talking was also really cool. she broke off the sentences in different places than what i’ve heard before and just kind of had more of a sort of curious and clueless way about her. it was like “and so. i walk alone and wonder. why?” and just. her <3333 she was so good.

-during oceans little monologue (her speech) before what the world needs,, jane also put her head on constance’s shoulder and just. amazing. it was so funny she’s so sweet fhsjhd

-during the new birthday song (or. after it while they’re all talking) she was also super cute.. like played around w her party hat and ricky’s little xylophone thing he was playing for the song. i just think she’s great fhsjdh

ok back to The Rest,,

-seeing the upop bits was hilarious. like i’ve read them and seen a few performances of it,, but seeing it live was so good fhjshd also constance’s costume had such cute details!! she had rainbow details on her shoes and a couple enamel pins on her pinafore!

-constance and ocean also did their little handshake thing as part of their dance during its just a ride and that made me almost cry too fhsjdh

-they added “prestigious university” into oceans list of Reasons She’s The Best or whatever. it’s funny bc wvu is Not At All That lol hdjshdjs (edit: finally reread the new script and Yes that’s in there but it is still Really funny lol)

-ok what the world needs was so funny. love love love ocean (she’s the worst!!) but this one was like. manic abt it in the best way. her riff at the end was hilarious too. a lot of “ooooh i’m better than youuuu and youuuu and allllll of youuuohooooohohohooooo” it was great. also the turntable was super cool in this show bc it was like a mini stage which helped w levels and stuff too! (another note abt this ocean, she definitely made her own choices but she also rlly reminded me of tiffany which was fun!!)

-this noel was. SO gay. they all are. but This One. GODDAMN!! he was awesome. he did the intro monologue in a much more dramatic way than khobly (still referencing my 2016 thoughts) ..like kholbys version was kinda done like. noel was slightly embarrassed not abt who he was but like,, more so circumstancial stuff if that makes sense? he got excited abt the whole missing teeth thing and all, right. (just to give a reference on how these noels are different!!) this noel was drawn out dramatic through the wholeeeee thing. he was amazing.

-the taco bell picture comes up and mischa’s like hahahhaa the Fuck lol and noel starts like pouting. “what is That” “i was hoping you could tell me” “NO!!☹️” bro sounded like he was bout to cry dhshdh he was so good

-OK THE QUICK CHANGE!! y’all know how he kinda strips in 2016 and Other versions? NOPE THIS ONE WAS ALLLL TEARAWAY!! it happened so fast,, he was like FINE *RIP* and BOOM lingerie. it was incredible. he also wore on of those long fluffy flowy “i just killed my husband for the money” robes. y’all he looked so good

-today was especially great. noel’s lament was insane. i have literally never heard a louder audience for anything. every time he’d do anything people would scream (bc he was fucking killing it) and when he went down to “die” the first time. he just kinda sat and did the little wave to get people to make more noise. it was amazing. i wish i could’ve fuckin videod or some shit bc it was soooo good.

-mischa. mischa bachinski. this guy was perfect for him (i am so sorry i don’t know the actors names by the way). tbh i love when mischa’s short. and bouncy. his rage was a lot of jumping and punching air and just. i loved that for him. TSIA was hilarious as usual, it always is. i really liked how they Made a jet with their arms on that line,,, but TALIA. she was actually an actress on stage and they did the whole dance together and then she ran away on the last OOOOOHHHHHHHHHH and it was SO good wtf. talia Always gets me so this was so exception for sure.

-this entire cast is definitely one of my favorites for sure. but tHIS RICKY IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE ONE EVER. he was incredible y’all. like they all were but. ricky. his choices like. landed SO perfectly every time. “i’m tellin’ you right now, monkeylovedrop! :)” SHIT WAS AMAZING (not to mention i didn’t know abt ricky’s new background in the script so that was also fucking hilarious.)

-not to mention the way he did the very end section of the song the way alex did,, like melody wise?? i LOVE THAT (i just like hearing it that way more lol) so that made me super happy.

-oh and remember how i said there were puppets? i fuckin WISH i could’ve taken a picture of it. the zolarians were cat puppets that came out from the alcoves on the sides of the stage and they were fuckin NEON BLUE AND GREEN with holographic details. no one was ready for that but it was PERFECT DFGHJGFGH

-also the actual sabm costume??? he was glittery and neon and flared pants and heeled boots and neon green cat ears and he LOOKED SO MF GOOD HAHAHAHA

-the energy of the whole fucking show was so amazing. especially today (closing performance). people were cheering through the whole damn thing it was perfect.

-TBOJD: the way she said MY TURN!!! was so cute. it was like !! MY TURNNNN !! all excited and drawn out a little. good for her.

—but mainly. there were 2 things happening here. 1) the actress was AMAZING. i think she also may be one of my favorite janes ever. she did this Thing with her hands at one point,, and i can’t really describe it,, but it was like she was just trying to make sure she could still Feel. and it was rlly cool. 2) MORE PUPPETS!?!?!?! this time it was when the music kicked up,,, the rest of the choir was doing their own sick choreo but there were also uhhh big ass worms among them too. they were actually pretty cool.. big teeth and the way they moved was really fun to watch but it did feel a touch overcrowded at times 🙃

-THE OTHER THING WAS THE FLIGHT!!!!! SHE STILL FLEW!! she didn’t go upside down or spin but the fact she went up as high as she did (like above the spinny thing on the stage part of the set) was incredible. and yes ofc she absolutely MURDERED THOSE HIGH NOTES IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE. i was mentally taking notes on her techniques the entire time fhsjhd (fun fact,, after the song today when i cheered/screamed for my applause i did in fact hit the note dhjshd it was a surprisingly supported one too lol)

-sugar cloud: JANE STARTED THE CHOREO AND THEN THEY ALL DID IT AFTER HER <33333 i will always love how sugar cloud is just Them uninhibited. it’s so good that way. this constance was also SO good with the way she did the monologue too. there were a few strong hints of regret but overall it was just Acceptance and moving forward and just hnnnnnnn she was wonderful.

-AND THEN THERE WERE MORE PUPPETS!!!! legit just little blobs of color that danced a little bit too. very cute, very constance fhsjhd my friend said the orange one was her favorite character and stole the show even lol. they were very expressive hfjdh

-there were a LOT of points where the audience were clapping along too and it made me sooooo happy. there was a part in noel’s lament, talia, and sugar cloud and just <333

-another few points that i saw throughout the show,, noel and constance besties. they were always hangin around each other.. same w mischa and constance. she’d make her quips against ocean and mischa’d be like YEAAHHHHHHH!! legit heard constance go-after the upop drugs bit- “yeah! you liked that one!! i’d been working on it for a bit!” <333

-really maybe just noel besties with everyone bc he also gave jane like. a Good hug before she left.. <33

-last thing that had me Dying,, noel also went up to ocean and put his hand on her shoulder and stood real close to her after she made her final vote. and ocean looked at him and leaned into it. and just. the growth from them both for that <3333 they’re so special to me.

-legit i think the only remote criticism i have is that it’s just a ride went SO FUCKING FAST???? like i don’t think y’all are taking enough of a look around at that speed lol.. it just wasn’t enough time to rlly enjoy how good that song is yknow.

overall wvu rtc completely blew me away and i desperately hope SOMEONE has a slime tutorial of it because GODDAMN THAT VERSION WAS GOOD!!! i need more ppl to talk abt it dhjshdj

French had always been your least favourite subject. No matter what you couldn’t understand any of it.

Luckily you had Noel, the top of the class.

You met in the choir and had known each other for years. He was your best friend and the only person you were truly comfortable with.

After knowing him for a few months you ended up developing feelings for him and questioned your sexuality for a while before coming out to him as gay. He was the only person who knew.

Noel had always been fairly open about being gay, because of this he faced years of bullying. More recently it had died down because everyone had grown up, but seeing it all happen and comforting Noel through the state he was in brought along a fear that it could happen to you as well.

Turning the corner, you saw his house in the distance. Layers upon layers of snow covered the ground as more flakes fell every second. There was a snowstorm warning but you would most likely be back home at that point.

You walked up his driveway and knocked on the door three times.

The door swung open to reveal Noel still in his pyjamas but with his hair styled how he always has it.

“Bonjour, Bienvenue en France.” He exclaimed. You hesitated for a second trying to process what that meant.

“What?”

“That’s basic French Y/N… you’re so lucky you have me.” He smiled.

Truly he didn’t know how lucky you really felt.

“Come in then theres snow all over you, Mom won’t let you in if you’re soggy.” He grabbed your arm pulling you inside and up to his room.

Noel went straight over to his desk chair getting a folder labelled ‘French Lessons for Y/N’

You slouched down on his bed looking over at him. “How long did it take you to make that?” You asked.

“Oh uh… not long. Maybe a few hours… every night for a week.” He began rambling.

You felt yourself becoming flustered, “It means a lot that you would do all that for me Noel.”

“I’d do anything for you, you know that.” He smiled.

You walked over to him and sat down in the chair next to him. He began to flicker through the pages to find what he wanted to teach you today.

It was colour coded with beautiful layouts and calligraphy titles. This must’ve taken him ages. All the examples he had in it of sentences were things that had happened with the two of you, things like: ‘Nous avons regardé des films ensemble toute la nuit.’ ~ ‘We watched films together all night.’ and ‘Y/N est très beau.’ ~ ‘Y/N is very handsome.’

All that was going through your head was ‘This has to mean something; Does this mean something; What if he actually likes me back’ You had to do something.

“I can’t do this Noel.” You started.

“I know it’s hard but don’t worry I have faith in you and I’ll-”

“No it’s not about the French I need to tell you something.” You inhaled deeply, there was no turning back now. “Listen you have to promise me that what I’m about to say won’t ruin our friendship.”

He laughed, “Of course not you’re the best friend I have.”

“Okay uhm, you know how much you mean to me, right?” He nodded, “Well even when I first met you I was intrigued by you, I guess you always felt more special to me then any other friend had. I always assumed it was just that we were platonic soulmates or something but um..”

“What are you trying to say?” Noel asked, shuffling his chair closer to yours.

“I love you Noel and not just as a friend.”

His shoulders dropped as if a wave of relief had washed over him. His cheeks began to flash a bright red and a smile crept its way onto his face.

“I love you too.” He grinned, “In more than a friend way but I figured you already got that.”

You both laughed and hugged each other tightly. This is it, all you wanted. It’s moments like this that make people want to freeze time and stay like it forever.

“What does this mean for us?” Noel asked, still not pulling away.

“I don’t know.” You said. “I’m not ready to come out to everyone yet, but I’d love- only if you want, to be your boyfriend?” You smiled hopefully.

“Of course I want you to be my boyfriend you idiot, why else would i make a folder of French for you?” He laughed.

“Oh my god I actually have a boyfriend. We can like watch movies together and have sleepovers and then go with each other to choir practice after those sleepovers then spend more time together!” He continued.

You chuckled, “Don’t we already do that?”

“Well yeah but it’s different now because you’re my boyfriend. We need to watch a movie together now as a celebration.” He got up and began to walk over to grab a DVD off of his shelf.

“As long as it isn’t one of those French ones.”

“You know it will be.”

You both cuddled together watching the movie, Noel recited his favourite lines and you had never felt happier.

When the movie ended he had already taken your hoodie and requested a different one that you had at home.

“Noel, I still stand by what I said about not being comfortable coming out to everyone. But if you’re okay with it I want to tell my family and the choir about us.” You asked turning to him.

He agreed and you began discussing ways to tell them. Suddenly there was a knock on the door and Noels Mom came in.

“Y/N the snowstorm has started and your Mom called asking if you could to stay here for a few days until it all clears up. She said to give her a call when you can.” She smiled then left the room.

“It’s like a honeymoon for us.” Noel exclaimed.

You laughed lightly, “No I’ll take you to Paris for our real honeymoon, thats a promise.”

He tackled you into a hug, life was perfect.
