WARNING: AHSOKA SPOILERS
My thoughts on Sabine being Force-sensitive are...complicated.
So it seems like the implication is indeed that anybody could train themselves to use the Force, regardless of innate ability, through sheer discipline and willpower. I don't like that, but I might have been willing to begrudgingly accept it if they committed to it.
Sabine is badass, I loved her in Rebels and I love her in Ahsoka, but is she really so determined as to be able to use the Force without being born Force-sensitive? They haven't really shown her being that dedicated. They've shown her trying a couple times, for a few seconds. If you're going to tell me that Sabine, by sheer force of will alone, is able to do this, then show me. Show Sabine staying awake for days on end training until she collapses from exhaustion, show her being really, truly, maybe a little insanely, dedicated.
Because what we've got now is an implication that somehow other characters aren't Force-sensitive because they just don't have the self-discipline and willpower, and, well...is Chewbacca undisciplined? Is Han? Jyn? Cassian? Maarva? Mon? And of course, you knew I was gonna bring him up, Hux? If all it takes to make yourself Force-sensitive is sheer dedication and willpower, then...well, now, no character has an "excuse" for not being Force-sensitive.
Yes, I know that it's always been canon that every living thing is connected with the Force, but being able to consciously wield it has always been something that select people are innately able to do and everyone else isn't. Making it simply a matter of discipline, making it so that even someone whose innate Force-sensitivity "falls short of every Jedi padawan ever" can train herself to wield the Force effectively, makes lack of Force-sensitivity a personal failing and opens a ton of plot holes.
Not to mention, there are many Force users who are...not exactly "disciplined." Kylo Ren is one of the most powerful Force users in the current canon, and he is the exact opposite of disciplined. A big part of Anakin's whole problem that led to his downfall was lack of self-control. Ventress isn't one of the more powerful Force users, but she definitely is not disciplined. So, if mastery of the force is now a matter of self-discipline rather than innate ability, that raises some serious character questions.
We already had an explanation for why some people can use the Force and others can't. I know not everyone was fond of the midichlorians as a plot device, but they were canon, and they did offer a real explanation that didn't turn Force-sensitivity into a personal victory. It allowed for bad people to be able to use the Force and good people to be unable to do so.
Being able to use the Force should have stayed an innate ability you're born with or born without.

does… does dave filoni know that the whole “anyone can be force sensitive if they put their mind to it” bullshit fundamentally shatters the entire core of star wars world-building around force users? like - does he understand that?

soo crazy to me how in the last year with minghao, dokyeom, hoshi, joshua, junhui, and now woozi (idk if i'm missing someone) y'all are way too ready and eager to automatically throw them under the bus over something some random person (usually antis) said online and then like a day or two later when everyone comes to the consensus that it wasn't actually that big of a deal or even wrong/bad in the first place (which you could've figured out yourself from the beginning by just doing like. 30 seconds of research and exercising your critical thinking skills) everyone just moves on like nothing happened and goes back to being a fan/stanning them or whatever like you weren't just going with the crowd and shit-talking them 12 hours ago
#not even going to get into how so many problems arise from no understanding of korean/asian culture#and relying on half-assed and sometimes just straight up wrong translations#like cool you don't have to know everything about a culture or be fluent in a language but#that also means you probably shouldn't be speaking on certain things at all much less without even trying to look into it a bit more#anyways..yeah i'm sorry maybe i'm delusional but i definitely am going to default to trusting my idols#and then figuring out for myself if i really think they did something that bad or “cancel” worthy#before i'm about to believe some random twitter/tumblr/tiktok user and just go with whatever they tell me to think about something#and most of y'all don't apologize or clarify anything. just move on right after hurling the most abhorrent accusations against these people#who are people too in case anyone forgot#but then an idol kills themselves and everybody boohoo's and cries and acts like they just can't believe how this happened again#like it's you. you're why#and i can only speak on the last year of course bc that's how long i've been an actual carat and kept up with them to this extent#i'm sure other stupid stuff has happened before that too with other members#i just think if you're so ready to toss away your idols without giving them like any benefit of the doubt whatsoever you just need to go#i hate when i see this stuff too bc i'm usually only seeing the korean side of stuff and most of these things are such a non-issue here#bc people know better (not saying there aren't some crazy fans everywhere but)#then i see some dumb shit on tumblr dot com that either only has links to some dumb twitter thread#or i have to search for on twitter because again. i do not see stuff from int'l fans unless i am forced to or look it up intentionally#and just saying the timing of these things is always so calculated by antis and y'all fall for it every single time#this is all i have to say bc i just remembered the whole thing abt ppl trying to say hao was being fatphobic or something dumb#and then i remembered everything else and it just made me mad all over again lol#if anyone disagrees with any of this feel free to block me🥰

for someone with his build and height, you'd think he'd be making a noise every time he so much as moves a muscle, but he's incredibly silent when he walks. he's not doing it on purpose either... most of the time.

Admin hyperfixates on small spot of underdeveloped branches that only matters to him part 2: I think the IRS is becoming my favorite new division because there can be no cause more honorable than the preservation and discovery of knowledge and the active mobilization to combat said sources of knowledge if they prove to be dangerous to the galaxy as a whole. Wars are fought over weapons of mass-destruction, and every side is guilty of this-- only scholars and historians would know the true weight of their duty in deciding whether enlightening the world to what they discover is worth the potential risk, and I'm continually obsessed with having to battle not only others who would use said artifacts for the worst, but your own countrymen more concerned with absolute power over knowledge they have been deprived of. The back and forth struggle of a scholar in wartime and their employed agents forced to fight to protect these things at their judgment is SOOO intriguing to me. It defies the factions but also retains that sense of infighting in the Sith Empire for its well-being.
I also highly enjoy the thought of secretly working with say, the Republic or smugglers to get these relics destroyed/offworld because this fight defies all sides.
