Hi!

I love you DND Class cheatsheets and have used them frequently when playing with beginners or folks who are trying new classes and I was just wondering if you’ll be making one for the Revised Ranger class since the main features are different than that of the original Ranger?

If not that’s okay!! Just thought I’d ask

As for the revised ranger, I'm not sure what you mean... Is that in reference to the new edition brewing at Hasbro? If so, I'll probably wait until it's actually gone through the revision process in full before I make anything for it, if I ever do (I'm not good with change so I'm not particularly planning on ditching 5e, tho you know, never say never ^^)

If this refers to something else, would you mind clarifying what it is? I don't mind making a cheat sheet for it either way, I just need to know what to look for ^^

OMG i love all your ideas! I also think he would move to Chelsea as a top flight option, but - and this depends on what we see in 3.11 in a BIG way, I may change my mind next week - I personally would actually love him to go back to City. Jamie would have been a Man City fan, and scouted by them, way before he even knew his dad. They were his first (there is an amazing fic that gets into these feelings if you're keen - https://archiveofourown.org/works/45790894/chapters/115233907 ) and if City is in his blood, he could never ever do Man United in my personal opinion. He would be publically abused by fans forever and ever and ever for it, and he in his heart I don't think could do it. I've actually really enjoyed the way that the show has shown him to not actually be triggered by City, like, the issue is his dad, not the club, he shows appreciation for the club and for Pep and it would be a childhood love. If he managed to get rid of his dad once and for all, I can see him claiming City as his own once more. But this upcoming episode may totally change how that's presented by the show. But I think Chelsea is one of the most perfect options and I love the idea of Roy returning there too.

I can't believe they didn't even give Roy's sister a first name on screen! Quite insulting. But I agree about Ruth and I've seen a few fics that use it, it's my favourite option for her name.

I think City would be an option also, I just tend to be a little fixated on the fact that he was obviously not happy there when he was young and I think a lot of it has to do with his dad. I guess it really depends on how much he repressed his trauma and whether or not he manages to untangle Tartt Sr from City (though I will say so far canon leans into 'he's okay with City' territory indeed^^)

Like you said though, we still have two episodes to see where they take Jamie and whether we want to ignore it or not :P

Thanks for the fic recs, too, turns out they were the sources of my headcanons, so it's nice to see we share some favorites :D

(I did mainly latch onto the PSG idea because of the potential for multilingual insult trading, especially with Dani and Spanish. I just fucking love this trope.)

Also re: the City/United rivalry... yeah, I neglected to think of that xD I should have guessed tbh, two major clubs in one city is unlikely to result in friendship xD (And also I know enough of football to assume it would be quite difficult to go from PSG to L'OM so I can imagine the sort of treatmant Jamie would get :P)

I think even if Jamie hadn't been a little prick when he arrived at Richmond, Roy still would have hated him. You're right, it is excessive how much Roy rages against Jamie and not Isaac or Colin. & hes still trying to keep up that cover of hating him even now, even when Jamie is trying so hard and really cares for Roy, and I can't figure out why. I just want Roy to admit that he cares for Jamie now, like actually say it because he isn't acting like it & Jamie needs it spelled out for him bless

Gosh, you're describing my dream here, Nonners!

This is a thing I kinda planned on keeping for my Roy-centric rewatch but I think Roy was just really bad at dealing with the impending end of his career. He left Chelsea because he could tell he'd started his downward spiral, picked Richmond for what I suspect might have been geographical reasons (Richmond is a 2h walk away from Chelsea according to google maps) and landed himself right next to the next generation of football superstar.

Like. Roy was already going to be a broody ass at Richmond no matter what, because he only went there to cut his losses ("better to quit than be fired") and went from a high end club with highly competent teammates and coaching staff to bottom-table players and Mr Shows-His-Balls, and only because he convinced himself he had no other choice.

And Jamie...well, Jamie's future is Roy's past. So what I think most likely happened was:

Jamie sees his idol come play to his club, tries to socialize, most likely does it the Tartt Sr way (aka, with a joke that stings at best, or at worst comes off as outright dickish)

Roy, seeing this kid who could be the next him behave like an ass, assumes that Jamie is being an ass in the same way that Roy was (aka: because of bloated ego rather than shit example and influence)

Roy snaps, because 1) He'd snap at everybody (bc aforementioned reasons+a bit if a sense of superiority) and 2) well, Jamie's being a little shit

Jamie's feelings are hurt PLUS his Dad Sense is tingling (since in his mind he just got snapped at for trying to be chummy) so he doubles down on the prick-ness to gain a sense of control over someone who might be all bark or who might start tossing shoes at him someday

Roy sees his suspicions confirmed, dislikes Jamie even more, snaps more, rinse and repeat

As for why Roy's still pretending to dislike Jamie, I think there's a big part of like. Not knowing what else to do. Because having Jamie to boss around when he's angry is convenient!

It leaves Roy free to work on the symptomatic part of his anger without having to dive as deep as he maybe should into the Why of it

It lets him avoid the effort and discomfort of actually trying to change that habit and wondering if he'll even be able to

I also suspect that there's an element of uh. Security kind of thing? Like. Roy changed a lot for Keeley and he did his best to treat her right, and (in his mind) he couldn't do it and he lost her. But so far, he's been treating Jamie a bit like shit, but Jamie hasn't left, and there's something reassuring in that for someone who has a tendency to push people away even when he doesn't want to.

(...and this is the part where I make myself sad because I'm 99% sure that telling off Roy got from Rebecca in 3.9 was a set up for him to go and get Keeley back but oh boy can you imagine how beautiful it would be (and how little but significant of an adjustment it would take) if this led to Roy/Jamie? 😭)

Hi! Um, any tips on how to color/shade?

-Because i am beyond terrible at it

m..me?? cooouring? i mean. i hate colouring so much that i flat-col the minimum for character recognition and call it done

if i absolutely HAvE to shade something . i'll use the :shrug: shortcut of starting with the base colour, then tweaking the Saturation/Lightness bars: -shadow: lower saturation and lightness -light: whatever saturation, higher lightness

if the character is somewhere with a distinct colour theme, i'll try to shift the base/shadows/lights to that colour.

likewise if there's a distinct coloured light source, i'll make the light on the char similar to that source

imagine me sitting on one section of the colour wheel. and walking toward the destination colour. just picking up colours in between. idk how legit it is, but i'm doing it

sometimes i'll be all srs and try detailed light/shadows but. it ends up makin my drawing too busy. a mess.

CORRECT: try to replicate that light source IRL or thru reference so u can figure out why it looks wrong, then correct your placements

INCORRECT, BECAUSE I'M LAZY: do a simple shape-based cel shade and let the audience's brain finish the job 😂

also i try not to use pure black or pure white for shading. i used to paint the night sky as 100% (zero lightness) black and the moon as 100% (ALL LIGHTNESS) white and my instructor wanted to fling me out a window. i could see it in their eyes. as they gently explained how IRL conditions are rarely 100% black or 100% white. maybe the night sky, depending on the conditions,, (if u actually colour drop a photo) is like 9% lightness with a tinge of blue. the moon is 96% lightness tinged orange. idk

#sometimes when i'm really tired of the way i colour #i go to those palette websites #find a palette i like #and just colour pick those. #regardless of what a realistic or fitting palate for that drawing would be. #idk sometimes it's nice to see a harmonious palette instead of whatever my greyscale brain wants to come up with #and maybe over time i'll intuitively pick up on colours that work well together?? palette osmosis? i can only hope #it's ok nonners! u colour the way u like!! if it's rly important to u #u can do that thing with the full study of references and chiaroscuro BS and reaaally get into it #like the concept artists who know how to tweak their warms and cools *just so* #but if you're like me and colour is rly not what u wanna focus on. not ur emphasis. then. join me in the lazy zone #god sometimes i just wanna pluck all my painter friends and have them colour my lineart because LIGHTING CAN CHANGE A DRAWING SO MUCH!! #but. alas. i am but a single me. and i have little interest in mastering light and shadow #asks
